Hello guys,

It has been a long time, many things had happened good and bad but I’m slowly getting myself back into writing. Please bear with me as I’ll start answering all the asks and giving updates on few chapters. I’m very grateful and thankful for still supporting my story!

The Volturi asking Jessica to just take online classes so she can stay in Volterra? Imagine, Jessica speaking and reciting on class, then one of the trio or Jane shows up behind her telling her something so Jessica has to mute herself again to ask what they want, lol.

Hahaha that’s so funny to imagine! It’d suddenly become gossip zoom session with people would end up asking who that hot guy is while the professor is trying to no avail resume the lessons. Demetri is most likely to be distracting and pulling something funny behind her and it’d end up with Jessica turning off the camera.

I’m adding additional parts in chapter 18 at the moment. I’m trying to write as much as I can each day but this had been hard. I’m sorry I can’t give you clear answer but I’ll keep you updated.

Thank you! There would be a time skip but I’m reluctant to let it go beyond few months for the time skip.

Jessica is not safe from the pandemic, so how will the volturi handle this? Will they take her back to volterra immediately? How will the trio and Jane and others react to the pandemic and Jessica's safety?

Just like how the Cullen’s have their own private island, I expect the Volturi possesses at least one, if not few private islands and properties that are quite secluded and hidden away from majority of the civilisation. Jessica would suddenly be taken away by men in black, put on a plane and placed into one of those island with very little contact with other humans until it is over. I think this’d make a good story plot for a short story.

Hey, are you alive?

Hi this is very quick update but yes I’m alive. So sorry I haven’t been around lately. My workplace has serious outbreak of COVID and I, for some fortunate reason, has many close calls and close contact with those who were deemed positive yet have been negative throughout which means I’m basically working long hours and nearly every day as my colleagues go off sick which means I’m too tired to write. I have a week off coming after my night shifts next week so I’ll be resume writing. I’ll update you more on my current situation this coming weekend. I’m so sorry for my readers and followers as I know you’ve been waiting long time for an update..

Hey sorry to get back to you late - I’ve sent the chapter away for editing so once it comes back I’ll upload them as soon as possible. I do have few scenes that I may or may not add to this chapter which if I do it might take slightly longer but yes you can expect an update in near future :)

“Is it Demetri?”

Her mask collapsed as the very question that had been haunting her audibly left someone else’s lips. The question was more as a statement enveloped into inquest out of arbitrary politeness.

“He has an odd habit of toying with humans before discarding them.” The expression on her face was pinched, her little tip-tilted nose firmly in the air as the curve of her lips deepened giving the air of haughtiness, suggesting her distaste for certain aspect of Demetri’s behaviour.

Whilst Jessica was all for having a cosmopolitan discussion about the guy problem and relationship issues with friends, she didn’t feel entirely comfortable even remotely talking anything sex related with an ancient, youthful vampire –– she didn’t even look like she knew what sex was! It almost felt like being held captive by a parent for a wildly embarrassing carnal conversation.

“I mean..” Jessica could feel her cheeks burning with embarrassment, “I-I just–”

Jane didn’t seem fazed at all. Jessica knew Jane having lived for thousands of years something as humane and trivial as sex was just as insignificant as what she was having for dinner. That and vampires couldn’t blush.

“Why are you telling me this?” Jessica stumbled on the question after she finally gathered up the enough courage.

“I hope you are not so gullible to be beguiled by Demetri’s childish antics.” I hope you are not as foolish as others. The rest of that thought trailed off into unspoken warning that Jessica understood.

I hope you do not end up like them.

In Midnight sun, Edward said Jessica is "skilled at feigning friendship". Do you agree with this? Do you think there is an element of disingenuity between Jessica's relationship with Demitri/Alec/Caius that is derived from her desire to survive? I wouldn't be surprised if feigning friendships/relationships is her talent, even if unintentionally.

I want to look at it this way: imagine unwillingly moving from your hometown where all your life was rooted there to a new, strange town where with the population of around 3000 people, I imagine Forks to be a very close knit town where everyone knew each other and it'd be quite intimidating for outsiders to integrate into the group.

Jessica was young when she moved and it's shown that she never quite fully settled into the town to this day; being so young and impressionable and desperate to rid of the outsider tag, you'd have to develop social skills where you are liked by the general group and the most surest way to become accepted is to become part of the popular cliche i.e. Lauren's group. Even the fact that she joined volleyball team, I think the foremost reason why she pursued it was because becoming part of a sport team is one of quickest way to bond with others and being accepted now that ‘we are a team’ and she later came to genuinely enjoy the sport,

I've answered similar question as to why I chose Jessica as my protagonist:

I always imagine, when she moved to Forks, she didn’t have many friends. She had trouble reaching out to others, she liked her space, she liked being alone and she loved reading books because it’s something you can do alone and she can escape to worlds the books painted in her mind. She’s curious, she wants to know. What is the meaning of life? What kind of person am I? Why do people do what they do?

But as she grew up, her parents pressured her to get along with people, make friends and Jessica, as much as she is independent, she does want a friend. So she tries to befriend people but people just found her..boring. Then she sees Lauren, a popular, pretty girl who seems to be liked by everyone and Jessica sees that kind of image works.

It was quite obvious to me that Jessica was instantly jealous of Bella – whom seemed to be liked almost immediately by everyone while she had to try and work so hard to be liked and noticed yet at the same time, she’s reminded of past herself. While she had to fake it to make it, Bella didn’t.

Mike, whom Jessica secretly crushed on for years, liked Bella. Edward, whom never shown any special attention to anyone, suddenly liked Bella too. Bella was everything Jessica was and wanted to be. She was the new girl everyone was curious about. Something special in the boring little town where nothing seemed to chance. And I think if you took her away from Forks, Jessica don’t have to maintain the façade, she can just be herself. Don’t we all become quite shy and conservative when in a strange place surrounded by strangers but also more honest to ourselves than we are in a familiar place? There’s no expectations, no need to front; Jessica can finally just relax. So I think that’s why Angela is friend with Jessica. Because Angela knows the real Jessica Stanley and she sees someone worth being a friend with. If there was no redeeming features of her, I don’t think Angela would even interact with Jessica. Jessica Stanley is not perfect but that’s why I like her.

Do you think vampires experience sociomoral emotions?

:emotions evoked based on learned, culturally based standards of right and wrong. Also called secondary emotions.

Yes, Twilight vampires' emotions are enhanced and intensified after the transformation and although I think once they become vampire, their memories as human being becomes blurred and vague, and their Id (primitive and instinctual part of the mind that contains sexual and aggressive drives and hidden memories) becomes more pronounced; overall, it's different for each individual vampire as they were all born in different era where their upbringing and social cultural references were vastly different.

The primary example I could think of is Carlisle. Son of Anglican pastor born during the time of religious and political upheaval, it's hinted his entire life was strict, constant indoctrination and propaganda against vampires and supernatural kind, being conditioned to loathe and fear them. It is said:

When he emerged as a vampire three days later, Carlisle was repelled and horrified by what he had become and tried various ways of killing himself, including starvation, drowning, and jumping off cliffs.

Was gianna the human secretary the mate of felix ? Or was he just the same old womanizer with santiago and demetri.?

Gianna was one of many human secretaries the Volturi had at their disposal and it seems Felix flirted with her few times but nothing remotely serious or came to any sort of fruition from it. Demetri and Felix (I have a feeling to certain extent, Santiago) are probably most flirtatious vampires in the coven.

Since gender equality makes up a miniscule of our history (50-60 years in comparison to 2000 years+ of women’s oppression), do u think our male protagonists will still hold some of this view? E.g: objectifying Jessica and imposing traditionally held gender expectations (obedience etc..) on her? It seems unrealistic for these ideologies to just vanish after being so deeply ingrained into their heads. The philosophies on women’s rights from a 21st century American female will surely cause conflict

No - the female vampires are as equally strong as male and some of the strongest vampires in the world are female i.e. Jane, Siobhan who was known to be strong beyond many human male and this ability were more visible as a newborn.

Even in Volturi, the vampires that are the cornerstone of the coven are females: Heidi, Chelsea and Corin. There's Renata who is Aro's personal bodyguard, Jane who are tasked to be the leader of important missions and Aro chose Sulpicia who was just as ambitious and cunning as himself and Didyme went against her brother by choosing Marcus over her clan and family.

The positions of the women they surround themselves with are in anything but the traditional role people expected women to be in the past and even now.

But when it comes to their desire for Jessica's obedience stems from their superiority as vampire and from position of someone with more life experience, wisdom and insights because Jessica need to realise that the moment she became involved, her decision and choice are not bound to her own anymore - it will also affect them and she needs to understand this.

All humans are clumsy to them, some more than others and they’re glad Jessica’s not as clumsy as Bella or else it’ll be baby proofing the whole castle. They’d always be there to help her if she’s about to fall or trip or in Caius’s case, “will you ever be careful”
