there’s something about the sky at 5:42pm

that makes everything i’ve tucked away rise to the surface.

maybe it’s the way the light hits.☀️

maybe it’s the girl i’m becoming.🤍

either way… these are the things that echo inside me when the sun starts to leave.

1. does he look at the sky when i do,

and does he feel it too—whatever this is?

2. did i say too much, or not enough to matter?

3. why did we stop talking like we didn’t mean forever?

4. does my perfume still follow him into rooms i’m not in?

5. was my age the reason, or just the excuse?

6. was i too naive to know soft girls don’t always get happy endings?

7. why did our friendship end without a goodbye, just silence?

8. why does growing up feel like outgrowing who i used to be?

9. do they miss me, or just the version of me that needed them?

10. will sunsets always feel like nostalgia for things that aren’t even over yet?

maybe the sky understands me more than people do.
