addendums: cult classic tv overlaps with early supernatural seasons somewhat, i am aware, just choose based on the cultural context in which you read your first fic.

for weeaboo crew i was thinking of examples like hetalia, black butler, soul eater, etc--popular anime absolutely included but the distinction is that people who were into dragon ball weren't necessarily going to anime club every week and making deviantart stamps about yaoi, but people into ouran high school host club ABSOLUTELY were.

homestuck is in its own category because homestuck changed fandom forever at a critical time which just happened to be when i was growing up in fandom. harry potter, lotr, star wars, and twilight are in their own categories because they were such multimedia juggernauts they had entire archives dedicated solely and only to their fic that spanned multiple franchise reboots (books -> movies -> extended universes). (i acknowledge star trek technically would fit under this but at the time culturally it had more overlap with other cult classic tv fandoms.)

honorable mentions that didn't make it to the list because i had to pick-and-choose with the 12 answer limit: the final fantasy franchise (axed because i am not familiar enough with the fic scene to know if it was as iconic of a gateway drug as, like, naruto or twilight or star wars fic), a general YA lit category (YA lit outside of twilight only went mainstream slightly after this time period), the MCU (i have a hate boner for the MCU), a broader "american superhero comics" category (this would be valid as an option but i don't have the space)

Dear overlapping fans of jrwi Prime Defenders and dimension 20's old campaign Misfits and Magic: Do you agree with me in that if William and Evan were ever to meet, they would have to stay like 10 ft away or their powers react to each other and get unstable? And that if they found a way to talk long distance (over phone or some other way) they would get along very well? I have not finished/caught up with either yet, but the brainrot marches on anyway.

You know, considering how long my varsity took to get here I was not expecting to get my genloss jacket this quick.

If we ever do manage to reach the convergence reboot goal. How cool would it be if those pcs were each from one of the main jrwi universes. Like someone from Mana who's used to high seas pirating adventures, one from Prime who's used to superhero shenanigans, and one from Prevarus who's lived through the death of the gods. All hopping around through different dimensions trying to save the multiverse.

I just feel like we have so much lore to work with at this point, it could be really fun for us mega fans to see the boys play around with all the different campaign's timelines. Like imagine if they could do an adventure back to before the Sakura ocean turned black. Or after the Prime Defenders were the world's greatest heroes. Not even just that, but they could do adventures in the spirit realm, Vincents homeworld or the faewild. Or even dark timelines, Galloway after the queen takes over, PD as villains again, if the godslayers never succeeded. Of course they could also do entirely unique worlds alongside them too

We could even have run ins with the legacy characters from convergence 1 since we know where two of them are at least.

This is also just a wiiiiillllddd thought, but like every world should definitely have a goobleck cameo...

Okay so I'm going to confess something terrible right now... I'm pretty sure I zoned waaaaayyyyy out for all of the Edison Kingdom arc. I pretty much blacked out after my man Dugon stole the pearl and I didn't snap back to reality until JSchlatt of all people showed up... I definitely watched it, I binged all episodes up to 55 after I discovered the series. But I only really caught passing moments, so I feel like I missed a lot of the essential character building that is causing you to have such a visceral reaction to the Albatrio's actions. I should probably go back and rewatch the arc, shouldn't I?

Okay first off, that sea shanty is amazing. So cool they got Jonah in again to do a guest verse.

And secondly, I feel like we all just breezed over the fact that Ranboo actually must be up to date on Riptide? Based on the fact he knew about the Jort Storm character, we can infer that he must have some knowledge up to episode 102. The guy hasn't been on the show since like episode 15? So that's either some dedication to the character, or he's just as invested as the rest of us.

Please let Ranboo play a character in the prime defenders campaign, please, please, please 🥺

It's pretty damn clear from their recent Spider Gwen cosplay, that they love this genre... So let him play a teen superhero struggling with his identity!

I know it would be difficult to squeeze it in between WiWi's villian arc and saving the trickster... And I know the pd got kind of... attached... to the last guest pc...

But I need to see them on prime defenders

I honestly would pay to see Ranboo play a character in prime defenders. Like it would be perfect, because he's actually the right age to play a young adult hero. Maybe he could be like a Prime academy dropout or something

Okay, so the absolute double espresso shot of dopamine I got today from watching PD episode 33, then going to see Across the Spider-verse in cinemas... It's just making me crave all the morally charged media about teenage superheroes I know of.
