just wanted to quickly ask a clarifying question. I know in the rules it says to keep shipping to a minimum, would mentioning that erik is married to someone who he wasn't married to any any canon and including them as a character in the work (a oneshot fic) but keeping the emphasis on erik and his kids be acceptable? Or is that a no go?

As for your question, you're more than welcome to write Erik in a relationship (current or former, canon or otherwise) in your fics, we just ask that it remain a background relationship and that the fic focuses on Magneto being a parental figure.
