LITTORAL LIGHT II -Ramsgate, UK. Friday 28th 2017
I'm excited to be part of the line-up for Littoral Light II, the annual twilight art exhibition set in the tidal zone of Ramsgate beach, Kent, UK. Organized by the artists' collective ARTICLE 10, it runs for one night only. As the sun sets and the tide recedes, 40 British and international artists will exhibit unique and exciting sculpture, installation, sound, and light with the white cliffs of Ramsgate as the backdrop.
I'm showing a series of luminescent needlepoint panels which take their cue from old embroidery samplers. Installed along the cliff face, they examine notions of displacement and belonging.
For more information visit ARTICLE 10 on Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/events/101352133834223/

Words matter. They define us. They can create harmony or invite hatred. They have consequences. I'm working on a new project with the working title "A stitch in time." My goal, to document the words that fly around us in this unprecedented moment in our history. This is where you come in. Send me your words, phrases, quotes from past or present. A headline, a comment overheard on the train, a line in a book that resonates with the times we find ourselves in. A single word that bears witness. Leave your words below and I will document them with embroidery. Or you can stitch your own and send it to me. (Message me if you want to do this and I'll send some guidelines). #astitchintime #resist #document #bearwitness

There are so many awful things about this election cycle but for me, the most disappointing has been the complete lack of debate on action to combat climate change. Today we walked along the shores of Staten Island that just 5 years ago to the day we're devastated by Hurricane Sandy. The beaches are littered with so much plastic it made me want to cry. Climate change affects the most vulnerable of our planet. It's our job in wealthy countries to sort the mess out now. I know that many of us feel helpless and understand that without bold moves from our political leaders we won't get this under control but we can all think twice before we take a straw, accept a plastic bag, buy a take-out coffee or a bottle of water. These things don't disappear when we toss them. They end up in the oceans and have wide reaching negative effects on us all. Sorry to rant. Here endeth my sermon for the day #sorrybutitsimportant #nothingisdisposable (at Staten Island Beach)

FUTURE FOSSILS INDIGO T-SHIRTS
A series of hand dyed and hand printed indigo t-shirts which examine the durable imprint we leave on the planet and the afterlife of these objects.
The greatest care is taken to hand-dye and print the "Future Fossils" edition of natural Indigo t-shirts.
Traditional Japanese "sukomo" indigo gives each shirt its unmistakable deep blue color. Hand dyeing means that there are subtle nuances in the color which becomes increasing beautiful with wear and washing. Hand-cut katagami stencils are used to print each design using a Japanese technique called Bassen and no two shirts are ever exactly the same.
Please allow 2-3 weeks for you t-shirt to be made and shipped. We are unable to offer returns or exchanges on this item due to its bespoke nature.
Please email us at [email protected] if you have special requirements and we will do our very best to meet your needs.
