The Quarry Drabble, Prompt: Whimsy

I did a drabble draw in Hackett's Quarry Book Club and this is what I came up with in 5 minutes! Dylan Centric | 182 Words | G | Whimsy

Dylan wasn’t quite sure what was going on, he remembered being at the campfire, walking into the woods, and that was all. Somehow he had stumbled into something… weird.

Around him were trees that definitely shouldn’t have purple leaves, but what did he know, he wasn’t a botanist. Not having any other option he just kept walking forward.

Wait, wasn’t it night when it left? Why was it daytime all of a sudden? He could see rays of sunlight peeking through the foliage above. Did Jacob slip something into the vodka soaked watermelon?

In front of him, he could see a figure, he couldn’t get a good look from far away, so he kept approaching. The figure turned towards him, and it looked like.. Ryan? Well at least he wasn’t alone.

“Hey man, do you know what’s going on? Did I get mauled by a bear or something?”

The figure that looked like Ryan titled it’s head and looked a bit confused. Well, Ryan wasn’t the only one.

“You shouldn’t be here.”

Well now, that was confusing, wait did Ryan have… wings!?

Kyojuro and Akaza Fight Drabble

I was thinking about doing a fic at some point using this but it's been sitting in my wips forever so I'm just gonna share it here. Wip Drabble | Kyojuro/Akaza | Spoilers for Mugen Train | 497 Words

Not Beta'd probably Teen Rating due to violence.

“No. That’s enough. A person like you doesn’t get to make the wrong choice.”

The words came out like a guttural growl, so deep and strong, that Rengoku could feel it inside of him, through the arm that was inside of him. Kyoujuro just needed a little more time, it was almost sunrise. It was almost over. He could see himself clearly as the victor in this fight.

Or at least he thought.

“A person with your power, your strength doesn’t get to go peacefully into the sunrise. I won’t allow it! Take a deep breath flame pillar, it will be your last as a human.”

That was when he felt it, Akaza’s hand shift, tearing his insides further apart, the rush of liquid mixing into his veins. It didn’t matter what this demon was attempting, nor if he felt each one of his blood cells bursting, the sun was coming. They both would die, Rengoku would make sure of it.

The flame pillar gritted his teeth, and held on even tighter. He would not let Akaza go, it would be his final action, the demon would burn, Rengoku would fully secure the win for the demon slayers.

“I will not become a demon. I will not let you leave alive!” He could hear Tanjiro and Inosuke behind him, crying out as they witnessed the damage, rapid footfalls charging in his direction, no, to the demon.

The pain was near unbearable now, but the sun was getting even closer. Even if he did change, Rengoku would die with the sun and never harm a soul.

Akaza kept pushing and yelling against him, his movements a bit panicked, Rengoku planted his feet, but didn’t expect the demon to lift him into the air. The arm piecing his stomach shifted a bit, tearing more into him, but was still secure. There was a choice to be made, relax his stomach and let the demon go, or keep holding on, and surely he would slow the demon down. Lives were at stake, and Rengoku placed a bet on the latter, not realizing that it would seal his own fate, and not in the way he expected.

Moments before Tanjiro and Inosuke could get close enough to help slice the rest of the way through Akaza’s neck, the demon jumped back, taking Rengoku with him. Akaza kept running, into the shadows, each jump and landing jostling Rengoku even more, tearing the wound open further and letting more blood flow into the pillar. The pain was blinding now, but Rengoku couldn’t stop trying.

He tried to twist his body around, gain some sort of leverage in the current hold, instead, blood forced itself up and out of his mouth, and Akaza shot a glare.

“Stop struggling, it’s far too late for that. When you wake up, we will fight again.”

Before having a chance to figure out what that meant, there was another burst of pain, and Rengoku’s eyes forced themselves closed.

Reminder for People Doing Zines!

Hey hey, if anyone notices my zine count is about to drop by three. I was invited to one zine and then accepted on two others. I felt there was a lack of professionalism amongst the mod team and decided to leave. Some advice I have noticed so far through working on zines:

If your boundaries are being ignored or if you feel your work is not being valued, it is okay to leave. Do not stay on a project you lack passion for. Do not stay on a project causing a lot of stress for you. Zines are supposed to be fun and creative if it feels stressful then don't stay. There are plenty of zines out there that need members and will appreciate your work and listen. Treat yourself right and respect yourself. This is just like a real job, if you feel undervalued or not listened to, especially on a mod team, then just leave. 

Just be sure to give notice, and be professional about it. You are doing great work and keep going. There will always be more, and better projects.
