FIND HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought this paperback copy of The Swiss Family Robinson at a resale bookstore called Frugal Muse in Wisconsin. I need it to write a paper for a class I’m taking, as I’m a Junior in college.

Someone owned this book before me. Whoever they are, they wrote in red pen, occasionally making comments. Most are related to the text, but sometimes they are personal remarks, like this one. 

So why am I posting this? Because it so happens that almost all the places this person marked are places that are relevant to my paper. It’s like this person was researching for me. It’s incredible. There is even a place where a footnote talks about flamingos, and how they apparently aren’t found “north of Carolina”. My school is in North Carolina. My name is Carolina. And you know what? That one line in the footnote is inexplicably underlined in red, with no comments. Nothing around it is marked.

Today, I found the red comments and underlining in these pictures. I realized the previous owner was a boy(most likely). It changed my entire perspective for some reason, I suddenly feel an unusual, time-and-space link to this person. Especially because of what he underlined, the words of the main character’s wife talking about their treehouse:

“I will mount the ladder this evening with you, for I feel almost a child’s joy at the idea of passing the night up in the air”

As you can see, his sidebar note reads:

“I want a chick like that.”

Well, as it turns out, I happen to love heights, particularly treehouses. This part of the story has always been my favorite, and I’ve read this book about five times since I was in middle school. 

So it looks like I am that chick. 

I really wish I could meet this previous book owner, who shares my love of stranded Swiss people and treehouses. 

But I realize this is insane, obviously. I may be from Wisconsin, but right now, this flamingo isn’t north of Carolina. It’s just an intriguing coincidence.

What is wrong with society? Society's definition of "beautiful" is having a flat stomach, big boobs, big butt, long hair, and tan sexy skin. Because of this, teenagers don't think they're good enough anymore. They don't think they're being accepted. 10 year old girls think they're fat. 11 year olds cut. 12 year olds stop eating. 13 year olds wake up in the morning and stare at themselves in the mirror; pointing out every little imperfection. Society is also teaching girls at a young age to wear mini skirts, short shorts, and belly shirts- which is now leading to sexual activity. 10 year olds being pressured into having a boyfriend. 11 year olds making out. 12 year olds giving head. 13 year olds aren’t virgins, and leading them to becoming an emotional wreck.
