　　　　 for the many years she had successfully bargained with life for her freedom, it seemed to have proven obsolete in the face of the french as she is forced to spend the evening playing princess in their carnival . isabella's ploy to escape her parents' clutch had shaped a dent to her prowess, seeing as she was only able to flee after meeting perhaps the eighth hopeful of the night . though she is aware of her promise to behave, the idea of finding her future betrothal in a sea of strangers struck a chord, and who would she be if not to go back on her word ? “ i would be astoundingly impressed if my father was able to hire an actress to stall my escape . a new trick, my old man is evolving . ” shock at the sudden accusation, her eyes scan her surroundings for any more of her people . “ your brother ? i know my father sent you to get me ! he should know by now that it's futile, and i'd drag you out of here with me if i have to . it's in your best interest when i say you drop the act and let me go . ”

with the ever watchful eye of her eldest brother , the king of england , hyacinth had been unable to do her usual trick of disappearing into the dark of the night . instead , the english princess found herself having to make polite talk and greet those from other countries ; a task she found extremely boring . however , the red head found her opportunity to escape the moment her brother became distracted and captured by his wife . not wasting a single minute , she quickly bowed out of the conversation she was currently stuck in and found herself moving further away from the festivities.

wrapping her cloak around her dress , she silently moved through the hallways of the palace . blue hues found the exit in no time but the sudden appearance of a figure caused her to pause in her tracks as a slight left her lips . " damn rhys, " of course , rhys would have someone following her at all times . " if my brother sent you to stop me from leaving , you are going to be sorely disappointed as i am leaving out that door , one way or another , "

　　　　 the entire time she was being introduced, nerina's mind could only persistently loop around wanting the ground to swallow her whole . she is never the best at social gatherings, much more at an event as grand as tonight's . having many eyes on her , and the imminent encounter with her betrothal and his family for the first time — it had become too much for someone who could barely hold a minute in a crowded room . smile, curtsey, and brisk away was the absolute plan, and she would've succeeded if she hadn't been suddenly approached by a fresh face . “ oh ! ” she freezes in place, eyes could only stare longingly at her escape route, but she didn't want to be rude . “ pleased to finally meet you, your grace . i've heard only fun things about you . though i'm not one for holding grudges, perhaps saving me a dance tonight could make up for the lack of pleasantries . ”

mostly known as the middle child ; the mere de medici spare , nerina had always struggled with her identity . at a young age , expectations were far larger on meeting certain standards ; to become as adept or even greater than her older siblings . she was constantly reminded of her responsibilities , her studies , the many skills she had to master to showcase her aptitude as a pawn for marriage , and how she's fallen short on specific aspects compared to her siblings . it hadn't been a cheery childhood , and it was easy for nerina to develop a sense of vulnerability — of wanting to prove herself .

for the most part , she had learned to love her accomplishments so much so that she loses herself if things didn't foster the way she had planned . grown into a social recluse , nerina is always found holed in her study , perfecting things that didn't even have any more room for improvement . she had grown obsessed with her worth as a princess , as a daughter — but despite the madness , nerina knew she was destined for something much greater .

eventually , simple mundane tasks had become too easy and monotonous . nerina began to venture into things that wasn't expected of a princess whose sole purpose was to be wed to seal alliances . diplomatic affairs interest nerina , and it had only heightened by her family's affairs .

once she had gotten into that rabbit hole , there was a sudden shift to nerina's social conduct . she has learned something more fascinating , more than simply running a household as a wife — it offered control which was one she had trouble grasping . her inquisitiveness did put her at the end of her father's rebukes however , because who would allow a young princess inside his small council and listen to disputes and politics ? nerina hadn't been really good at hiding .
