About Me

Haley Swanson

My name is Haley and I like e-books. I always thought I'd hate them but I was converted and now I am here to spread the Gospel: they're great. You can make the font as big as you need, you can read them on a tablet in bed or on your phone on the train or on your laptop during a boring class. I love it.

I wanted to start my own little e-book editing operation so I could make the kind of e-books I want to read--ones that are well designed and most importantly: cheap. Most e-books available for Kindle are lazy copy and paste jobs from Project Gutenberg. I want to do better so I am putting all my Ivy League graduate school training to good use (seriously, I'm currently a history MA student at one of them). I'll be taking public domain books and ✨optimizing✨ them, making a nice hyperlinked Table of Contents and everything. I'm also making nice covers that aren't A.I. generated.

I want to offer the books for as cheap as possible on the Amazon webstore (sorry I know they're an evil mega corporation but we pick our battles and there's a reason I'm hosting my blog for this on Tumblr and not on a Twitter or Facebook page). Most books I'll be offering for $1.50 to start out. I will find a way to offer a discounted $.99 ePUB/MOBI/whatever you want file for sale off Amazon, maybe on Etsy? I don't know, I'm not quite there yet. But sleep well, either way your e-book purchase puts $1 in this poor grad student's pocket.

Swanson indie e-books is a project I will be working on in my spare time. I'm hoping to come out with at least 50 titles in the upcoming months--maybe even an original anthology or two.
