finding out one of my favorite authors plagiarized another author from a different fandom has been jarring, disappointing, and also extremely demotivating.
life has been ruthlessly busy lately, so writing has unfortunately not been a priority since i just haven't had the time. but with the rise of AI slop in fanfics, and with plagiarism running rampant, it's difficult to find drive, to find inspiration that draws me in and lets me know that what i'm doing is worthwhile.
i've always said that writing is sacred. that writing is something we pour our hearts and souls into, and that has always been true for me. but when the reaction to plagiarism is merely "oh no, i should've saved the fic" rather than condemning the action and the person for how morally corrupt it was, it really makes you wonder.
the lack of empathy, the lack of appreciation and respect for the arts, is maddening. but also the lack of mindfulness in the approach people have to reading fics and books.
many seem to treat fanfics as endless content, to be eagerly read without thought, without reflection. they urge us to update, to post more, without seemingly considering the amount of time and effort it takes to create something we're proud of and that we want to share with the community.
i see a lot of pushback against AI art (rightfully so) but not enough against AI fanfiction, against character AI, against all these lazy shortcuts that people take to create something that isn't theirs in the first place.
the joy of creation, the privilege of being human and creating things that has parts of our souls and our humanity weaved into them, is slowly fading away in favor of convenience and wanting more, more, more. in always having a fic available, day and night, without thought.
i don't know. i have many thoughts about this. i will of course continue to write, continue to pour everything i have and everything that i am into it, but i struggle to see past the bleakness of it all at the moment.

bath
a drabble i wrote for currynim, rated M
If there was anything Law was grateful for about the Sunny, it was the bath.
He can’t even remember the last time he had a proper soak, and escaping the chaos of the frankly insane crew he’s traveling with made taking a bath even more appealing.
He jumped at the opportunity to sneak away from the Straw Hats right after lunch, knowing they’d all be occupied with fishing or playing games, or whatever moronic things they usually get up to. Whatever they decide to do, they’re always equally loud and obnoxious, and while Law is grateful he managed to get them on his side, he can’t help but feel the need to escape after several days of travel.
He misses his crew. He misses the Tang. He misses the solitude of being submerged underwater.
The Straw Hats are the opposite of solitude, and he can never find a single moment of peace amongst them. Especially not when Luffy is around.
Law frowns at the thought of the Straw Hat captain. His presence is strange, almost otherworldly, and Law can’t make sense of him at all. He seems naive, too trusting, but then he’ll show a side of himself that no one expects. He can be serious, silly, emotionally intelligent but also incredibly stupid, and Law just can’t fathom someone like Luffy existing.
He’s never met anyone like him before, and it’s frustrating in more ways than one. He’s not sure why he feels that way, and he tries not to let himself linger on the thought too much.
He doesn’t think he’s ready for whatever the answer might be.
Anyway, he’s getting derailed from what he was supposed to do. He was going to soak in the bath, by himself, and recover himself from the onslaught of extrovertness that’s assaulted him since he stepped foot onto this ship.
He quietly shambles himself into the large bathroom, and he looks around to make sure he’s alone. He is, just like he’d expected. His shoulders slump with relief and he locks the door from the inside before he starts undressing.
He folds his clothes neatly and places them on the bench, and he smiles as he regards the steaming bath. Franky had told him that it’s always filled, and that it has a built-in filtering system to sterilize the water plus negate the effects of the sea on devil fruit users.
Law likes Franky. He’s a smart guy.
With a content sigh, Law slips into the hot water until he’s submerged all the way up to his chin. A lazy smile curls his lips and his eyes flutter shut as his sore muscles get the attention they desperately need. He leans back on the bench and just enjoys it– he doesn’t think, he just exists in the moment and–
“Oh, Torao!”
Law blinks an eye open to see Luffy standing right in his line of sight, completely naked.
“Didn’t know you were here, shishi!”
“How’d you even get in here?” Law scowls before averting his eyes and submerging himself further.
“The lock doesn’t work.” Luffy shrugs before slipping into the water across from Law. “Ahh, isn’t this nice?”
“Yeah, sure,” he mumbles and looks away from the pleased expression on Luffy’s face. Oddly enough, it makes him feel weird.
The bath is big enough for several people to fit, but somehow it feels ridiculously small when Luffy’s in it. He spreads his arms and legs as if he’s attempting to take up as much space as possible, and Law grits his teeth when he feels rubbery toes graze against his own.
He can feel Luffy’s gaze boring into the side of his face, though, and he’s just about to tell the idiot to mind his own business but–
“So, d’ya have tattoos on your dick, too?”
“What? No!”
“Oh.” Luffy purses his lips in disappointment. “Lame.”
“Lame?”
“Yeah, boring.”
“Okay, well, I didn’t ask for your opinion.”
Luffy hums thoughtfully. “I guess you didn’t!”
Law can only glare at the other captain, because what the fuck?
“Hmm.” Luffy cranes his neck and looks down at the water, squinting as if he’s trying to see Law’s cock. “Is it big? It looks pretty big from here.”
“Straw Hat-ya, what the hell are you talking about?” The flush on Law’s cheeks catch him by surprise, and he tries to submerge himself into the water to hide it.
Luffy remains unperturbed, and he opts to slide over to Law’s side of the bath. He crowds close to him, too close, until they’re shoulder to shoulder.
“What are you doing?” Law raises an eyebrow, trying to mask the feeling of being a cornered animal of prey.
He’s not sure what he expects, an answer? An explanation? He sure as hell doesn’t expect a hand grabbing his cock, none too gently either.
“Whoa, it is big!”
“Stop it!” He slaps Luffy’s hand away before moving to the other side of the bath.
He lets out a shuddering breath, his cheeks practically on fire. He’s never admitting to anyone ever that his cock is half-hard, that Luffy’s shameless sort of curiosity is turning him on.
Luffy pouts at him from across the bath, but his petulance only lasts for a few seconds. A wide grin spreads across his cheeks before he crowds Law’s personal space again, this time deciding to climb into his lap.
Law isn’t sure why he isn’t pushing Luffy off, why he isn't just getting out of the bath and retiring to a random corner of the ship to hide from the pest that is the Straw Hat captain.
“What’re you doing, Lu– Straw Hat–ya.” Law clears his throat and focuses his gaze on Luffy’s collarbone instead of his face.
“Aww, you almost said it,” Luffy says, a sulking tone to his voice. “Can’t you just call me Luffy?”
“Can't you call me Law?”
“Ah, good point, shishi.” Luffy bites his lip, and Law hates the fact that his eyes automatically trail upwards to follow the movement.
“Can I touch?”
“Why?” Law asks, suddenly annoyed. “Can’t you– can’t you play with your crewmates or something?”
The sharp pang of jealousy that feels like a punch in the gut is something he’ll have to address sooner rather than later. Preferably later.
“Don’t wanna.”
“Why me?”
“Because I wanna.”
Law rolls his eyes. “That’s a stupid answer.”
“S’not stupid if it’s true!”
“Why do you want to?”
“I don’t know why. I just know I wanna, and that you make me feel weird.”
“Weird?” Law furrows his brow, his hands unbiddenly trailing up Luffy’s soft thighs until they end up on his hips.
Woops, how did that happen?
“Yeah, like, my stomach feels weird, and then I get hard? S’never happened before, y’know. But I know I wanna touch you, and I want you to touch me too.”
Fuck. Law is so fucked.
“Yeah? You want me to touch you?”
Luffy nods excitedly, the flush on his cheeks most likely matching Law’s. His pupils are blown wide, and his beautiful, sexy chest heaves with his breaths and–
“Okay,” Law agrees easily, because he’s not insane.
“Woohoo!” Luffy wraps his arms around Law’s neck and presses closer to him before dipping his head to press a wet kiss against his lips. “Can we do that, too? Kissing?”
Law swallows thickly. “Y-yeah, of course.”
The grin he’s awarded with is practically blinding.
Law is so fucked.

mafia au
I've had this in my wips for like 6 months. Decided to work on it today
“Honestly, I don’t know you.” Luffy tries to shrug, but he’s still rendered motionless from the restraints. “Refresh my memory?”
His gaze on Luffy’s face is intense, but he’s struggling to find any sort of disingenuity in his features. He looks stupidly innocent, big eyes curious but slightly wary.
Law sighs and shifts in place, suppressing a pleased grin as Luffy groans.
“You’ve been messing with my shipments at the docks for the past year. You handed in the last one to that douchebag Smoker. You beat one of my men so bad he had to get veneers. Ring any bells?”
“Oh!” Luffy exclaims delightedly. “You’re the Hearts guy!”
“Yes.” The Hearts guy. Christ. “Trafalgar Law.”
“Oh wow, Robin’s told me lots about you! She said you cut out the hearts of people who cross you, that’s so cool, Torao!”
What the fuck. Law raises an eyebrow, because this kid is so goddamn weird. He knows what Law does, knows his signature, but he doesn’t look scared at all. He looks excited, like he just met his favorite actor or something.
“You realize you’re one of the people that crossed me, right?”
Luffy grins. “Yeah!”
“Don’t you get it?” Law dips his head until he’s close enough for his lips to brush against the shell of Luffy’s ear. “You’re not getting outta here alive.”
Luffy’s breath hitches, but Law doesn’t think it’s from fear when he feels Luffy’s cock twitch against his ass.
“You like that?” Law leans back, grip still firm on the loaded gun. “You getting off on this or something, you freak?”
Luffy’s eyes widen, and he lets out a surprised gasp when Law presses his ass down with purpose.

I almost cried last night because I'd written 8k words in two days, and I can't remember the last time writing came so easy. The flow felt incredible, and my heart was soaring at finally being able to create with little to no anxiety or writer's block.

Should I continue this?
It’s just a friendly outing followed by a friendly dinner, Law thinks to himself.
He purses his lips and shoves his hands into his coat pockets, the chill in the air enough to make his cheeks sting. He briefly considers turning tail and walking back home, but he had promised, and he’s notorious for being unable to say no to Luffy.
A little over a year ago, Luffy had flown through his life like a tornado, wreaking havoc on Law’s mind and heart whilst doing irreversible damage to the metaphorical walls he had spent years painstakingly building. Law found that he didn’t mind most of the time, and that was probably the scariest part of it all.
While Law doesn’t make a habit of befriending his patients– or former patients, in this case– it had been inevitable with Luffy. Before he knew it, he was swept up into the chaos of Luffy and his friend group, being invited to outings and parties and everything in between, and while he usually has a good excuse to not attend, the holidays came with one very big disadvantage:
Time off.
Law purses his lips again, cursing the fact that he had hoarded enough PTO for his boss to force him to take time off over the holiday season. He had tried to explain, several times, that he’d rather be working than sitting around at home, but Kureha had been ruthless.
He’d refrained from calling her names, and eventually accepted the forced vacation, albeit reluctantly. How Luffy had found out about it, Law will never know, but he has his suspicions, namely in the shape of Kureha’s young protege, Tony Tony Chopper.
Law doesn’t have any substantial proof, and Luffy just blinked at him dumbly when asked.
Luffy looking up at him with those big, dumb eyes did terrible things to Law’s heart, so he didn’t press the matter. It was irrelevant, anyway, or that’s what he likes to tell himself.
The important thing is that he’s standing at the entrance of a quaint little christmas market, the shops and carts lining the street lit up with string lights and (frankly garish) decorations, but it’s cute. Cozy.
But.
But.
He looks around, almost desperately, his neck complaining at the speed of his movements, but realization dawns on him like he’s been hit by a truck.
The market is filled with couples. Everywhere he looks, he sees people holding hands, their shoulders knocking together as they make their way down the cobbled streets, and Law swallows thickly at the sight.
Is this a date, after all? It’s just going to be him and Luffy before they go over to Nami’s for dinner, which could potentially be a sign that it’s more than just a friendly hangout. He has never really hung out with just Luffy before.
Law doesn’t really do Christmas markets either, or any markets at all, so he isn’t sure of the proper etiquette. Is it just a couples thing? Is it weird for two friends to go in a totally platonic way? Does Luffy even know what an outing like this implies?
(The fact that Law, mere moments ago, hadn’t known either is irrelevant.)
“Torao!”
Law whips his head around and sees Luffy bounding towards him, and he looks so fucking cute that Law has to resist the urge to clench his chest. His heart is pounding as he takes in the sight of Luffy wrapped up in a puffy red coat along with a striped scarf snugly wound around his neck.
He looks absolutely adorable, and the closer he gets, the more details Law gets to greedily drink in. The flush on Luffy’s cheeks and nose from the cold air, the string lights reflecting off of those dark orbs that Law wishes he could sink into, but the best part of it all has to be the blinding smile stretching Luffy’s lips.
It’s a smile that can light up a room, that can light up a whole goddamn building, and Law feels his own lips curl at the sight. It’s a subconscious reaction, but Luffy just has that effect on anyone and everyone.
“Hey,” Law greets him quietly, his voice thankfully not wavering. The butterflies in his stomach feel more like a frantic gaggle of geese, and the hands still shoved into his pockets twitch with the urge to reach out and touch. He wants to pull Luffy into a tight hug and run a hand through his soft-looking hair and–
He clears his throat and starts walking towards the nearest stalls. “You hungry?”
“Duh!” Luffy sidles up next to him and knocks their shoulders together with a grin. “Nami said not to eat too much before dinner, because Sanji’s cookin’, but like, I can just eat twice, y’know?”
Law rolls his eyes. “Yeah, well, you can definitely eat.”
“Shishi, you should take notes! You look like you’ve lost weight.” Luffy turns to him, a small frown marring his face.
“I haven’t,” Law mutters, refusing to acknowledge the warmth spreading through his chest at the look of concern on Luffy's face. “I eat.”
“Uhuh. Sure. That’s not what Bepo told me–”
“What did Bepo tell you?” Law interjects, almost defensively. Bepo is the only person Law has reluctantly told about his… fondness for Luffy, and although he trusts his best friend, he still can’t be too sure. He tugs on his scarf, feeling a flush crawling up his neck at the thought of Luffy knowing.
“Just that you go all day without eating, and then you eat a snake meal when you get home, and I dunno, that sounds kinda bad.”
“Snake meal?” Law asks, raising his brow. “What the hell is that?”
“It’s like a big meal. Oooh, candied almonds! Let’s get some.” Luffy grabs the crook of Law’s arm and leads him to the stall, and the delicious scent of warm, roasted almonds hits his nostrils and makes his mouth water.

moth ch14 snippet
“You know something,” Sabo finally says, and it comes out as an accusation rather than a question.
Ace shrugs, lowering his gaze from the sharpness of Sabo’s eyes before clearing his throat. “I have a hunch. Maybe.”
Sabo clicks his tongue, repressing the urge to pace around the room. Instead he leans back in his chair and crosses his arms, and he doesn’t care if he seems childish, petulant, because there’s clearly something Sabo doesn’t know, and if there’s anything he hates, it’s not knowing.
“Care to elaborate? On this hunch?” He practically spits out, his patience waning.
“Sabo…” Ace sighs. “It’s not my place. I don’t wanna, like, guess, and then be wrong and have you mad for no reason.”
“Why would I be mad?”
“You’re mad right now.”
Sabo scoffs. “I’m definitely not.”
“Are you trying to be funny or something?” Ace counters with a smile curling his lips, and Sabo tries not to be distracted by it.
“There’s nothing funny about this.”
“I mean, if it is what I think it is, then it’s pretty damn funny to me—“
“Just tell me!”
Ace groans, throwing his head back against the pillows. “Luffy’s gonna fucking kill me– he's not dating Zoro, alright?”
There’s a stunned silence following his words, and even though Sabo knew, even though he had the gut feeling this was the case, it doesn’t make it any less jarring.
Luffy lied to him.

your lestappen fic is just *chefs kiss*
also thank god i'm not the only one who looked up the lyrics to ma meilleure ennemie and immediately thought of them (although i will probably make an edit about it if i find the time and patience to gather enough video material)
WAHHH this ask made me so happy, you don’t understand. I was pretty nervous about posting the fic, but I had such a vivid idea in my head of how I wanted to characterize them and the dynamic and it truly consumed me, so that definitely helped motivate me into sharing it.
And yes! That goddam song! I’ve had it on repeat for days, and literally had it looping as I was writing haha. It just suits them so well.
Thank you so much for the ask 🖤 and I’d love to see the edit if you get around to making it!!

But especially after Las Vegas.
