TechnopreneurshipJourney

This is the 16th week of my technopreneurship journey as well as the last blog that I will do. This week our task is to finish our prototype. When our instructor checked our prototype he agreed to it but he has added feature for our prototype. So for the whole week we continue working on the prototype. Also, this week was the pitching of the chosen Top 10.

For this week, me and my teams really not met because they were busy but sometimes they really give time to be with us to cheer us and to give us encourage in making the prototype. For this week I am thinking that if we were done making our prototype we know that we were near to the end of this course and we can’t have time to see each other because of the different schedules we will have, it makes me sad but at the same time thankful because they were our team mates even sometimes we faced challenges and conflicts but at the end of the day we can always fix it and remain good team until the end of this course.

This journey let me experienced many things that were first times in my life, meeting new friends, boosting my confidence and when you want to give up there’s always something that can make me go up. This whole experienced was a big opportunity to us specially engineering students like me. And i would like to thank my instructor for teaching us and for being our mentor throughout the whole journey.

Technopreneurship journey

This is the 15th week of my technopreneurship journey. In our meeting there was add on slide deck which is the viral marketing. For this whole week was all for the preparation for the final pitching. In our meeting we draw by lots the order of the groups for the pitching and we were assigned on September 30 Friday. For this whole week I and my cpe partner were so busy developing our prototype. We asked for a meeting so we can divide the works. Our ME was assigned to do all the revisions of our past assignments like the lean canvas, validation board, user’s journey, empathy map and the slide deck and our EE members was assigned to do the new assignments which are the viral marketing and company profile.

For this week also we had our overnight and I’m so happy because we are complete, in the said overnight we were with the other techno groups. In the next day is our pitching day, honestly we were not so ready we didn’t even had a chance to practice because it was timing that our EE member will be having their quiz so it was a do or die pitching to us. In the pitching, we all know that it was not enough so that we can be chosen as one of the Top 10 but we accepted the truth that we will not be able to make it and after the pitching we were told to go back on Monday morning because our prototype was not yet done so me and my partner still continuing working for our prototype.

For this week I can really feel the tiredness because we develop our website in a  very short time only because of the changes we made and I know to myself that it is our mistake because we were not able to identify first if we can develop the app or not. Next week will be the announcement of the top 10 but I really don’t expect that we are included.

Technopreneurship journey

This is the 14th week of my technopreneurship journey. For this week we were informed for the dates of our elimination pitching and final pitching. After knowing it me and  my team met and discuss the things we should consider and our plan but the impact of this announcement to us was that we really decided to aim for the chosen top 10 in the incoming elimination pitching this september 29. 

We were also informed that we should start to develop our prototype. Which is ours is an app. In our team, it is understandable that we CPE should be the one to develop our app because it is in our field but I don’t agree to them because we already told them we still don’t know much about developing an app and they can also do research and learn for it because it will a big help in our team that all of us can know how. Frankly speaking, we really not know that much about android because we never made one and because of lack of time we tried to go back to ororama to ask for their permission if it is ok that we will change our start up into a website. lucky on us because they approve our proposal again and they even said that its better they also gave us suggestions again for our start up. They also told us that they partially introduce our proposal to their head manager which made us flattered because it means that they give interest to our proposal and they said that if we are done developing it we will go back to them and that will be the time that we are going to have proposal to their AVP. 

For this week, I can really feel the pressure because there’s only a short time left before the end of this journey. There are many questions in my head, Are we able to do? Can we be successful to it? but i really put in mind the positive thinking always.

Technopreneurship Journey

This is the 13thweek of my technopreneurship journey. For this week, we were not able to meet with my team because our EE members went to iligan because they had a seminar there for 3 days. We were able to pass our revise user’s journey and also the empathy map.

When the grade was posted, one of our team mates, told us that he is failed that’s why we felt worried we were looking or thinking on how can we help him so that he can pass for the final term but later this week we were informed that he was only joking on us. We were really hurt because we were so sincere on helping him and he just fooled us but for this issue we fixed it immediately because we know that we will be so busy for this coming week because the final pitching is fast approaching. what i like in our group is that whenever we encounter misunderstanding about our work even if in our personal matters we want it to be immediately fix because we dont want it to become big and can affect our Team work. 

so i guess this week made our team much stronger in work but also in our friendship.

This is the 12th week of my technopreneurship journey. For our meeting, our instructor gave us an assignment which is the empathy map and also this week we were tasked to have our weekly progress report.

Last Sunday, me and my team met at school to finalize the things we will present in our progress report for the next day. I was the one assigned to make the wire frame and the others were assigned to make the user’s journey and empathy map.

On Monday, we were told to wait until 4pm because our instructor still has a class and also my EE members has a class until 4:30 same as to my ME member I don’t have class for half day that’s why I waited for them until 4:30. I was not done yet for the wireframe because I don’t know what’s next that’s why I waited for them to ask for their suggestions. When they came they were the one who finish doing the wireframe and I am thankful because they are willing to do it.

When it’s our turn, we made a deal if who will be going to explain about the user’s journey which is the ME, for the wireframe which is me and for our updates from Ororama which is the EE’s. We open up about our Ororama journey and about to their suggestion. Our instructor told us if what is the early adopter wants we should do it. What I felt about it was pressure because of the time remaining but at the same time challenging because our instructor mentioned that the reason why they wanted us to make their suggestion because they want to test us if they can really  trust us that’s why I was challenged to prove to them that we can make it. So, for our user’s journey we were tasked to revise it and for the revision we should make the user use our wireframe so that she can really know what the function of our app is. We were also tasked for next week to pass our empathy map.

Technopreneurship journey

This is the 11th week of my technopreneurship journey. For this week we were not able to meet with our instructor, because its holiday but we have tasks to do for this week. This week we were task to go back to our early adapter which is the Ororama, to make our user’s journey and Empathy. For this our EE members and we CPE will going to have a proposal defense that’s why we asked our ME member if it’s ok to her if she will be the one making the users journey and she agreed that’s why we are so thankful to her and we told her that it will be us who will go back to Ororama.

We plan to go back in Ororama on Friday because after going back there we will immediately go to our instructor for our weekly progress report but due to no class we were told to have it on the next week.

So, on Friday we went to Ororama but unfortunately it’s only the three of us because one of our members is sick that’s why we just told her to rest. We agreed to meet 9am, we went to the Marketing and met again sir john and sir ralph. As usual, they were so welcoming and willing to talk to us and entertain us even though they had a work to do and we were so lucky.  We asked them what is their recent process with regards to the reservation and delivery process. They explained to us that they do reservation only in wholesale they don’t do it in retail. And complement us that our app would be a big help to their store and they also give us suggestions on how about we will just do it in their Christmas package, and also they are willing to give us a list for the Christmas package because Christmas is coming and it is on demand. We thought that they’re idea is great it will help us in our technical side. That’s why we planned to open it up to our instructor if what is his opinion about this. Sir john and Sir ralph give us many opinion and suggestions about our product and told us that they are willing to help us with our product and it was so flattering. They told us to go back next week to pass the letter of intention.

Also this week, we receive that there were 13 teams who are chosen to join a competition and our team is one of it. Our team is flattered because that 13 teams who was chosen by being a strong team and we are one of it. And our individual grade was release yesterday and I’m so happy that I receive a 1.6 grade. So, that’s all for now.

Technopreneurship Journey

This is the 10th week of my technopreneurship journey. To start the week, we met our instructor and he informed and explained to us our new assignment which is the user journey and there will be a weekly progress report to him. After the meeting I met our CEO and then I told him about the information. For this we were scheduled to have our lean canvas and validation board explanation. It was supposed to be on Tuesday but unfortunately our instructor did not saw my direct message to him that’s why it was move on Wednesday. Last Sunday I and my team went to school to work together our different parts. I was assigned to revise the Lean Canvass for the merchant. On Wednesday we finalize those things we needed for the explanation, there were other group who will present for their lean and validation that’s why we waited for our turn. It was getting late and there’s still 3 group waiting and our instructor said we make a deal with the other group if who will be next my team just decided we will just be tomorrow because aside from we were tired we were also hungry.

 On Thursday we went to school early, there were only 4 groups left for the explanation and we were 3rd. Upon observing the other groups, we got ideas on how should we explain our lean and validation. When it was our turn I was the first one to talk, I explained our lean canvas for the merchant there were corrections and suggestions from our instructor same goes to our validation boards. He told to us to have our weekly progress report on the next day. So, on the next day we went to our instructor in the afternoon. He asked for where we are in our start up and he gave us some advice and suggestion on what will be our next move. When being consulted by our instructor made me think of many things about our product. We are almost half way to our journey.

 Yesterday our team grade was posted, we was informed by our CEO. It was not a high grade by at the same time I am still happy. It encourages us to do more and better and to really work as a team.

This is the 8th week of my technopreneurship journey. To start my week i was not able to attend my class due to some circumstances but i asked my classmates what they did and for announcements. I was informed that next week we will be having again a pitching but its different from last time it won’t be a competition it is a just a completion for our midterm. i asked my team that we should meet up and i really want us to talked because in the past few weeks we had issues regarding to our times and schedules. 

Finally this time we were complete, we went to puregold and did some interview for our presyoni startup. the same as our last interviews we pitched our product and asked questions if they are in need a system which is in our product.we was not able to talked to any of their superiors but the person we asked seemed like she knew everything in their market. they don’t have a online market but they do reservations because they are a wholesale and retail market.she said that if we really want to pursue to talk to their superiors we should make a letter indicating our purpose to their market. 

after we did the interview, we really made sure to have a open forum in our group, we opened up the things we observed in last few weeks. like for example we want to have a meeting but there were other members that don’t give interest because of the reason that they are busy but we told them that we were also busy its not just them but we always give time for this activity and we want them to do the same because we all have the same goal. I like how we talked because we were just calm and open minded and they promise to us that they will try to change that which gave me a little hope that they would really do it. after the forum we decided to bond for a while to erase the conflicts that had happened. 

we planned to make and revise our lean canvas, validation board and slidex because it will be passed next week. we gave one night to finish everything and its great because we really finished it everything.we also did the booking for our pitching we scheduled it on wednesday afternoon. all of us will pitch so that each of us can start to experience it because we know that there will a next big pitching, i really hope that we can successfully pitch next week. Technopreneurship

The seventh week of my technopreneurship. For this week, we did not meet with our instructor. In the next day he posted something that made us alert. He posted that if our product was not yet approved he will gave us a 5.0 grade for midterm and that hit me because we were still not approve. I felt panic because of that that’s why we went to our instructor to clarify and to tell him that we want to change our startup product. Lucky us because he allowed us to change it but we should first go to another fish port to do survey. 

We planned to go there as team but the other members always had a reason that they can’t because the have a quiz on the same day. So me and my partner decided to just go there together but later in the evening they called us to confirm that their quiz was cancelled and they can go with us which made us happy.

This is the sixth week of my technopreneurship journey. For this week, there was no class because of the celebration of science and technology week but there was a seminar for technopreneurship. In the said seminar, the speaker talked about what is technopreneurship and introduced it and in the afternoon there was a forum.

For this week, we relaxed a bit because last week we were so busy. We were just thinking if we should change our startup. We compare our product presyoni to our plan b product which is the catchme. Me and my team wants to change our product. So we decided to have a meeting whether if we should change it or not. Our team looked for the circumstances that we may encounter if ever we will change it and we decided to change it. We planned to open it up to our instructor.

Actually, we didn’t do much for this week.

Technopreneurship Journey

The Fifth week of my technopreneurship journey. This week was so busy, because we have an upcoming event for this subject. We had our 2 days Techno Bootcamp seminar, we have to practice and be ready for the pitching competition. This is how our team prepared for it, we divided the parts of the lean canvass and made it individually. We picked if who is going to represent our group for the competition so we chose our CEO. We helped him prepare by letting him practice and of course by encouraging him. In the first day of the seminar, me and my team did not saw each other because I was assigned to the registration but in the afternoon we made a way so we can come together to the seminar. In the seminar there was a part there that we should be in our team because we will have a practice on how to pitch. At first we were in doubt, but along the way we decided to try it but unfortunately we ran out of time. After the seminar we decided to meet up, by then we were complete because one of our member was unable to attend the said seminar because they had they’re general assembly for their course so, after that we discuss for the upcoming competition and finalize the lean canvass. Then, the competition came Top 11 will be chosen in the different colleges and in the Top 11 there will be again chosen for Top 3. Unfortunately, we were not chosen but at least we had an experience on how it is to pitch with panels. And we had an idea on how to pitch properly on the next pitching.

 Our team experienced issues, mainly fixing each schedules. There was a time when me and my cpe partner felt that it’s only us in this journey. Were always left alone, so when we had a chance to open up what we feel they were also open to listen and accepts their lacks on this team and promise that they would try their best to fix it. I want us to work together with this because we were made as a team.

Technopreneurship Journey

The fourth week of my journey. Last week we were asked by our instructor to go to the market areas of our ideas under to. So, we went to ororama first for the “presyoni” idea then on Saturday we had an overnight to Jasaan for our “catchme” idea. Aside from our intentions there, we really treasured the moments that we were together there we grabbed the opportunity to make some memories and to know each other more which did not fail. Early in the morning we went to the fish port to interview some fish dealer and fish buyer, we waited long because the fish dealer was still not there so while waiting we observed the people around and thought that “So, this is what happening here. Their work on their daily living, the sacrifices because as what I’ve observed it was not really an easy job it needs patience and hard work. And I thought what if wala silang mahuli na mga isda because there were really many buyers waiting for the fish catcher and they came from afar that’s why I really thought that our idea would really match for their problem.” Someone informed us that he saw a fish dealer and he bought us to him. We asked permission if we could have an interview with him and he agreed. The first thing we did was we open up the problem then we introduced a solution to the problem and we asked for his feedback to our proposal. He states that, it was a great idea especially to the people from afar but then he said that it is the daily routine of the people to go to the fishport and personally buy the fishes it is also their way to meet their friends and get a chance to chitchat. Then, we look for a fish buyer when we found one we got rejected then thanks God we found one who is willing to do some interview. We asked the same questions and asked for his feedback as usual he said it was a great idea specially in his case because its far. So far, the Catchme idea for me has a good feedback because the target market areas for me gave us a good feedback.

So, on Monday we updated our instructor of what happened during the two surveys we conducted. He advised us to conduct two more surveys for the presyoni which are the TH Cagayan and UNITOP. And for the catchme to add one more different fish port. Me and my team decided to conduct it in the next day. In the next day we went first to TH Cagayan, we asked in the information table if where we could talk to their Marketing Manager unfortunately, she rejected us because talking to their manager would so personal then she told us that their manager was out of town. To me personally, I did not like the response of the lady to us but then we did not argue with her instead we said goodbye but actually looked for another person that we could ask to and the funny part was we were trying our best to avoid her for her not to see us. Then someone told us that their manager was not around but we could talk to their supervisor, as usual we introduced our product by stating first the problem and the solution we have for the problem but we think that the lady did not understand fully the message we were relaying and just told us if we want to talk to their manager we should set an appointment to his secretary and she gave us a telephone number to contact to. After from TH we decided to try first in the Gaisano but their manager was not there because it’s just a branch and she told us to go their main branch in Gaisano City Mall. Then we proceed to UNITOP, our experienced here was the most tiring because “gipasaka kanaog mi sa saleslady na nag lead sa amo para Makita ilang supervisor” finally we found her, same as usual we pitch to her our idea. She gave us reasons in the thought that she don’t want our idea because they do the manual process they asked give numbers to the customers who wants to do a canvass and that they would just call the customers if that product is available to them or just through Facebook but I asked her “Maam, dili ba ka gusto na ma less inyong burden vice versa pud sa inyong customer, bali kni among product mao ni ang solution na dili namo mag lisod ug specially inyong customers kay mas automatic cya then less effort” then she told someone to bring us to their managers office and to further explain our intentions to him. Unfortunately, we were not able to talked to their manager because he went to the gym instead they let us talked to the manager’s secretary. After explaining to her, we asked for her feedback and good thing her feedback was positive and actually she told us that their manager is trying to make the UNITOP same as the Lazada. She also told us that she would tell her manager about our idea and come back for the result and lastly we asked to take a picture with her.

To sum up this week, this week was hard in the matter of convincing people to like our ideas and get a good feedback from them. In learning how to pitch this experienced really helped our team. Though, it’s tiring we still enjoyed the experience and really thought “so, this is how it feels to build a startup.”

My technopreneurship journey. Last week we already decided the three ideas that we are going to propose. In the meeting our instructor interviewed some of the members about their ideation, along to their discussion me and my partner realizes something about to our idea that’s why after our meeting we communicate to our group immediately and asked them to have an emergency meeting. In the meeting with our group, we opened up about the things we had realize and suggested to have another idea that’s why we looked for another idea. Lucky us, one of our member suggested one problem that she thinks needs a solution so we considered that idea and we agreed to have another meeting on Thursday to finalize the idea that were going to propose.

So Thursday came, because of other matters we were not able to have a meeting in the morning that’s why we’ve decided to move the meeting in the afternoon. Unfortunately, our meeting was move again in the evening because one of our member has another appointment to attend but it was not a hindrance to our meeting we waited for him until his appointment is done because we all want to be completed in this meeting because this was about the preparation for our proposal to our instructor we want that each one of us has understood fully the idea that were going to propose and decided to have the proposal to our instructor in the next day.  After the meeting, we made fun to one of our member to give us “libre” and he made it serious and in the late evening we had fun together. We proposed our two idea to our instructor, he asked questions and asked to have a survey on the different idea and update him on Monday.

For our “presyoNi” idea, we decided to survey first the ororama store. On Saturday morning we went to ororama cogon to talked to their marketing manager. We met their manager and pitch our product “presyoNi”. At first we were hesitant because they might have a negative reaction about our product but we were wrong, they were so open-minded and they welcome us. We explain the function of our product, we asked them if they’re in need to it. They’re feedback was, it was a great idea but they will still want to asked permission to their AVP and told us to make a Letter of intent composing of:; the function of the product, their benefits to the product. They suggested us to not just focus on their market and look for other companies if ever we will not be allowed because of the reason of the confidentiality of their system and if it is ok to us to be the one responsible if ever their system will shut down.

For this week, it gave us hard time fixing our schedules and interviewing someone in the real world gave us a challenge to practice pitching which really helped us.

Technopreneurship Journey

My journey for the Technopreneurship subject. This is the second week of my journey. In our meeting, our instructor asked us to be in front to share our experience about the activity we did last week. Our instructor discussed to us about the different market areas that we can use in our project and that can guide us to decide which area we will choose. We were told that this week will be an ideation week that's why we were given a new task not by pair but by group to choose three among those market areas that were introduced to us.  

Me and my team decided to have meeting, in the meeting we shared different interpretation to the activity because some of our members have not yet met our instructor but despite to that we followed one interpretation and then decided which market areas we will choose, along to our discussion all of us gave a different suggestions and we didn't come up to any problem about deciding. On the same day, our fellow members were scheduled to meet our instructor that's they confirmed to our instructor what is really meant of the activity. Our CEO Jamil called again for a meeting, on that day we decided to choose three market areas namely: Agriculture, Climate Change/Energy and On Demand economy. Regards on choosing a startup product, each of us gave one suggestion and talk about the advantages and disadvantages of choosing each product but in the end we all agree to choose the idea that was suggested by our ME member which she explains why she came up to the idea. For this ideation week task, looking and deciding of which product we will do and it is kind of hard and challenging because there should be many aspects we would consider but with the help of each individuals in our team we were able to come up with the idea that all of us agreed and I can say that we were really united as a team. Also this week, we organized a seminar all about internet of things.

We were asked to answer these following questions; what are your strong suits? In regards to my strength on knowledge bases, actually until now I can’t still identify where I am good at but I really want to explore more on programming and hardware. In getting along with people I can really say that I can really adjust immediately to people I’m around to “Friendly” is the term. Next question, what are your weaknesses? I have a weakness on accepting challenges, many questions would flash in my mind whether I can do it, is my knowledge enough to do it or am I just a burden to my group for short I still don’t have a trust to myself and I hope with the help of this course I can overcome this. What is your topic interest? The Internet of things, I am curious of all the new inventions. Why do you want to do a startup? Honestly speaking, because it is required to do in the subject but along the discussions my curiosity awakens about having a startup, I can use this when I’m in real world and who knows it can help me succeed in life.

Technopreneurship Journey

The journey starts here. In the first meeting, Technopreneurship was introduced to us by our instructor Engr. Bronson Mabulay. He then asked us if what is our idea and expectation in the said course. As for me, the first idea that came in to my mind was that Technopreneurship is all about business in the technology world. Along his discussion we were asked to group ourselves into pair and told us to have five members in one group but the remaining three members will be from the other engineering courses which are: one from Electrical Engineering, one from Mechanical Engineering and one from Electronics Engineering. At first I was hesitant, interacting to people I’m not close to maybe difficult for me especially adjusting to their different attitudes but our instructor told us that this is one of the challenges that we should encounter.

For this week our instructor gave us a tasks which are to search for the remaining members and to do a rejection therapy. What we did first was to look for our members, actually i was expecting that me and my partner will be having hard time finding them but lucky us an electrical engineering student was the first one who approached us and he’s the one who got our member from mechanical engineering. The only part that made it tough was looking for an Electronics engineering student because there were only limited students from ECE who took the same course as ours so we decided to ask our instructor if it is okay to add another electrical engineering student instead of having an ECE student and he agreed.Then our communication began lead by our member from EE Jamil Arab. He made a group chat in Facebook then we communicated with each other. We decided to meet personally, when we met we tried our best to get the awkwardness and I think we overcome that.

On wednesday we performed the rejection therapy, my partner did the questioning to the people and I’m the one who took the video. We decided that the question we will be going to ask was “To dance the TATLONG BIBE dance craze.”All the people we asked rejected us because their reason was they were shy. As what I had observe to my partner she look like a fool asking people nonsense question. On friday we performed again the rejection therapy with the same question to dance the dance craze tatlong bibe and as expected we were rejected. In this activity, we really boost our guts to ask shameful questions but then it was a success.

This is just the start of my journey for this course week 1 out of week 15. I’m looking forward to the things that will happen in the remaining 14 weeks. It gives me excitement to be able to work with other people, to know them and to have a bond with them and I’m also looking forward to learn and explore more what Technopreneurship really is.
