By the way, by the way, you do things to... - (Ab)Normal Days
About four days have passed since the food was taken away. It’s…gotten unbearable but the human body can survive three weeks without food, so it’s not the end of the world…yet. As you pull yourself out of your room for water in the morning, you notice Kohaku making their way out of the changing room, face even more pale than you recall them being.
Tumblr media
“H- Ueha-san-”
They frantically look back into the room, pointing.
“Th-The sauna-”
Ignoring the fact that Kohaku really shouldn’t be going to the sauna on an empty stomach, you decide to walk with them back into the room to figure out what they’re going on about. They take you to the sauna entrance.
“There was a chair in front of the door ss-so I moved it to open the door, I was confused why it was there but-”
They push the door to the sauna open to reveal…
Tumblr media
“Ping pong pang pon! Students, a dead body has been found! Investigation will commence for the next 7 hours! Upupu, see you at the school trial!”

She blinks, well the other is polite at least. She pulls her ID out of a pocket in her skirt, starting to go through the different tabs on it. Crystal glanced up at Liyana as she started to stand up again. Kids are strange, going from tired to energetic all because of..what? Her walking into the room? She looked back down to her ID, kind of looking over all the other students...wild. What kind of talents even are some of these?
“Mhm. It is kind of odd they couldn’t get a real life human to give us that weird orientation though.” It’s a little suspicious actually, but she won’t put that idea into her roommate’s head, that’d be rude for their first meeting.
She looked up from her ID again as Liyana speaks, it only just now occurring to her that the other isn’t from Japan. She gives a quick nod. “I was born and raised here, my name is only western because of my parents coming from the States.” Another glance to her ID, looking over her own roommate’s talent and name. Hm. “I’m guessing you aren’t from here then?”

Crystal kind of, lookss around as if she might just be seeing him wrong and if she looks back he’ll look not like that. But alas, when her eyes return to him, he’s still looking wild. He seems like the eccentric type, she can only imagine what classes with him would be like.
“It’s seeming like this is the entrance ceremony...it's rather poor, you’d think a school like this would be more professional than to use a stuffed animal as the person who speaks to us.” Then there’s not to mention the fact that classes weren’t even mentioned, there was nothing about ‘have a good year’ or whatever. It’s all concerning.
Her brows raise, he does have a bit of manners at least. “Crystal Waters, and you are?”

She looks in the direction she hears the voice come from and jumps a little bit at the sight of the other. He looks like a cartoon character. She doesn’t even know where to look there’s so much going on. She frowns at the brow-wriggle, her arm that was up at her chin dropping to her other arm still crossed in front of her.
“…I suppose it is a bad prank.”
The fact that he was even pulled into this conversation by the word ‘prank’ doesn’t seem to shock her much since he looks like that kind of person.
“I have as good of an idea as you might.”
He could see it in her reaction, the moment she laid eyes on him. That stunned moment of apprehension that he was rather used to seeing in those he just met. Still, he grins. A wide, obnoxious grin, as he teeters closer, standing on his toes to make himself appear taller.
“Now hang on. I’m meant to be at Hope Peak’s. Is this some kind of entrance ceremony?”  His fingers tap his chin thoughtfully. “That’s some creaaative way of going about this, huh?”
After a pause, seemingly gazing off and trying to suss it out for himself, he remembers the existence of the woman before him. “Oh! Silly me. What’s your name? Let’s not start on the wrong foot here.”

Crystal looked over to the other girl as she sits up, giving her a small wave. It spooked her a little, since she though Liyana was trying to sleep but, alright.
“I’m Crystal, yes.” She watches her move, surprising how someone can be so energetic even though they were just about to sleep. I did see that on the map, yes, but thank you for clarifying further for me.” She sounds flat, not really giving any hints of if that was a serious remark or if she was being sarcastic.
She pulled her legs up onto the bed, just starting to take off her stockings, if she doesn’t, her legs will itch, and being that she’s sharing a room with someone she doesn’t know, she’d rather not annoy her roommate with her occasional scratching. “Yeah, sort of.” She was just planning to take a short nap and then go about setting up her own stuff. “I’m sure we’ll get to the serious stuff soon.”

Crystal took to exploring the campus first before attempting to find her room. It’s good to know where you’re at and what you have available, after all. Once she made her rounds, however, she figured she could go check out her room finally. Perhaps she should rest too...maybe she’ll wake up and find herself at home again. Sometimes weird dreams happen without reasoning.
She unlocks the door for herself and heads on in without warning, just assuming that her roommate is still out and about as others seem to be- Except that she’s not and Liyana is laying on one of the beds. She blinks, kicking the door closed.
“Hello.”
She walks over to the free bed, sitting down and kicking her shoes off. She’d also take off her sweater but...she’s actually sharing a room with someone else. So for now it’s just her shoes and her tie that are going off- and onto the floor near her bed.
Roommates - Closed Starter for swimwiththesharks
After a long, eventful, and confusing day, Liyana was ready to find her dorm room - she definitely need a few moments to lie down and rest in peace and quiet. As Liyana pulled up her map to fin her way there, she noticed she was sharing the room with someone named Crystal Waters. As Liyana headed to her room, she pondered what her roommate would be like. Would she be friendly? Polite? Kind? As tired as she was, Liyana was also fairly excited to meet her new roommate with these questions buzzing around in her mind.
When Liyana opened the door to her new living space, she noticed it was empty - her roommate must still be exploring the school. Liyana glanced at her luggage for a moment, then one of the dressers in the room, before giving a small whine - she definitely didn’t feel like unpacking right now. Instead, she slipped out of her shoes, reclined on the bed, and began to undo the pins keeping her hijab in place - Crystal was clearly a girl’s name, so there would be no issue with Crystal seeing Liyana uncovered. As she did so, Liyana continued to ponder what her roommate would be like, but her eyelids were beginning to drop. She wanted to be awake when her roommate arrived, though it seemed like a nap might be in order instead…

hinking about it from the moment she woke up, everything in this school seemed off but she couldn’t place a finger on the exact thing. With it still on the mind, Crystal made her way to the gymnasium as asked of her. It was a bit hard trying to find it as she wasn’t used to the school’s layout, but eventually she found the entrance to it. She glanced around at her other classmates, making a note to herself that she looked like the oldest and probably the one who stands out most in her class. Great.
Her arms cross, and a hand lifts to her chin in thought, squinting in the direction of the bear as he speaks- then he disappears…Okay? She quickly looks around the room to see if he took off somehow, but she doesn’t spot him anywhere.
Where the Fuck did he go?

headfirst slide - prologue
It’s your first day at Hope’s Peak Academy- it’s required that you at least show up to the first day of school for rules and such. You’re only allowed out of it if you’re sick and well…you’re not sick today! This day has been…pretty hyped and you can’t deny that there’s a feeling of excitement beating in your chest. You’ll have a nice class, or at least you hope, and you’ll make some friends that you might not have had before!
The school towers above you, you can only imagine what’s on all these floors that could help with furthering your talent to be better. That and classrooms are a thing too. You’re more excited about the ‘fun’ stuff andnot the ‘learning’ stuff for right now. You take in a deep breath, then slowly let it out. It’s…time to start your school year!
You take a step into the school, and only have but a second to examine your surroundings before your vision goes hazy and your consciousness slips.
You awaken in an unfamiliar classroom alone and just assume that someone took you here (though you guess that’s a little weird, isn’t there an infirmary here?), but then you noticed the bolted windows. You didn’t recall seeing bolted windows from the outside of the school…You stand up, to investigate when a tone goes off.
“Is everyone awake now?”
A grating voice came through the loudspeakers, why does this person sound like a cartoon character from Doraemon…
“Great! Then get your asses down to the gymnasium so I can greet you all in person!”
That’s…not a way to speak to your students. You however follow their instructions and begin to search for the gym. It takes you a moment to find it but you get there nonetheless. Inside the gym, you find yourself amongst all your other classmates. There are 18 of you in total, all of you are confused. No one seems to know who called you here, or how you got to your respective classrooms.
You hear a voice sound from behind the podium on the stage. It clears its throat.
“Goooooood morning!”
It’s. It’s a toy bear. There is a toy bear talking to you right now.
“Now- you must have lots of questions on where you are- who everyone else is. You know. The whole showdown.”
He points out at you all.
“But I’m going to wait to tell you! For now, all I am leaving you with is some small information that will prove useful.
“In your pockets- or bags or whatever the fuck you all have that carries things, you will find an electronic ID. On these IDs are your school maps, your classmates names and talents, and these act as the keys to your rooms. They are very hard to break, but try not to attempt breaking them. It’s tempting, I know.
“Please! Mingle with your classmates and get to know each other!
“It’s for the best.”
And with that, he cackled and hopped back behind the podium, seemingly disappearing.
…Guess you have no other choice.

Huffs. This whole predicament is a curious one but not a good kind of curious. She looks around some, putting a hand to her head again god damn her head still hurts. She leans a bit closer to him as he speaks, sighing a little. “I remember everything except how I got here, so you’re fresh out of luck in this department, kid.” She starts to rub at one side of her head, trying to ease the dull headache. “Yeah it’s very unlikely that we’ll see a dead body so soon. Unless some kid breaks right away anyways.” Looking around at the others to see. “Nah that’s not likely…”
Crystal nods. “We’re not safe, not at all.” But she’ll be damned if anything happens to Hanako. She can’t stand to let anything happen to her. “But you don’t know anyone here?”
Man she could’ve gone a whole conversation without realizing that they hadn’t exchanged names so thank you for that Cain. She looks to his hand, then realizing this was for introduction. She takes the hand and shakes it firmly. “Crystal Waters.” She takes her hand back and lets it rest by her side. He’s got an English name pls don’t realize the error in her own naming.
Hearing Crystal call him a kid made Cain chuckle; He wasn’t going to mention why he was grinning, but it’s been forever since anyone called him a kid (or a squirt). “Well, at least everyone here seems to be doing all right. No one seems to have any external injuries and the place is well stocked.”
When asked if he knows anyone here, Cain looked around and nodded his head towards a smaller boy with white hair and pink clothes. “Akiyo. Akiyo Toyoda. He’s the one here I’m the most familiar with… ” Cain snuck another glance at the boy, hoping that Crystal wasn’t able to see his gay blushing. “Another one I know here is Blaise. He’s the tall guy with the blue hair and bandanna tied around his mouth. We’re not exactly friends, but we’ve spoken a few times.” He frowned slightly, as if remembering something. “He’s kind of… ‘off putting’ to talk to? I don’t like hanging around him for extended periods of time.”
Hearing Crystal’s name made Cain blink a few times in surprise, trying to register what she said. “Crystal Waters… that sounds like a bottle water brand name.” Cain started chuckling to himself, letting out a small ‘Pfft-’ sound.
“If you want, we explore this place and see if we can find anything interesting or suspicious. It’s a lot better than staying in this room.”
Crystal’s an old lady everyone is a kid to her. She tilts her head at the chuckle, trying to figure out what she said that made him laugh. “Yeah, I’m sure people would’ve been able to find ways to survive if it weren’t stocked though.” She would not be one of those people.
She glances over. Yeah, a kid that seems familiar but she never took the time to talk to him. “Hm.” Looking back over at Cain. Haha what a gay. She’s also very gay so you’re fine. “I can’t say I know him or...Blaise.” Looking around for the other guy. “How so?” She’s gonna have to meet this guy to figure out what exactly he means by that she guesses.
And yup there it is. She sorta??? Face palms and sighs. She expected this and she’s not quite sure why she wasn’t positive the comment would be made. Can’t exactly say she was like 9 when she chose that name and only knew a handful of English phrases. “I’ve been meaning to change it to something less embarrassing, the only reason I haven’t is because I’m in Japan and English isn’t the language here so not many get what’s wrong with it.”
She moves her hand from her face and glances around. “Sure.”

Crystal was trying her best to work out what was going on here, mysteries and such are one of her specialties- to a certain point at least. Law leaves a lot of room for solving mysteries she guesses, easiest way to put that. Though there’s not much she can figure out by herself, especially with a bad headache, she just knows something is happening here, just what that ‘something’ is though….she can’t tell. It sounds like a story she’d heard of in the past however- Her train of thought is thrown off as a familiar voice speaks to her and she turns to look. She looks in shock for a moment, then looks around to see if maybe she can recognize others as well.
After a moment or two she speaks up, returning her gaze to Hanako. “I’m just as confused…” Reaching a hand up to rest on her temple. Looking at her surroundings now, she tries to figure out where they are. “Seems like we’re in a storage room of some sort at least.”
Hanako followed Crystal’s lead, also taking in the room they were currently standing in, and the other familiar faces that were there with them. Nodding in agreement with Crystal’s guess, Hanako pursed her lips. “We should probably take a look around, try and get a feel for what kind of place we’re in.” She glanced at one of the doors to their left. “I wonder if those are locked.”
Hanako was actually pretty relieved that there was people she knew stuck in here with her. Not only Crystal, but even the random students from her class that she had barely even spoken to. There was something comforting about having something familiar around when being thrust into a foreign environment.
She nods. “That’ll be for the best. Can’t stay here without knowing what we have.” Looking to the doors. “There’s only one way to find out.” Ugh today’s going to be a busy day it seems. She really hopes that those doors aren’t locked though, staying in here for the duration of whatever is going on doesn’t sound very fun.

No don’t worry Apidae, she’s actually above average height for women in Japan. Way above average. Doesn’t help that she’s wearing platform heels. But she looks down at him, sorta thinking about how short he is but still listening to what he has to say- wait he mentioned Hope’s Peak. She could’ve sworn he was a middle schooler due to his height. Japanese men aren’t normally this short. She nods, shifting her weight to one leg and placing a hand on her hip. “I am.”
Apidae looks this towering woman over as she is kneeling down before him. Were there really people like this at Hope’s Peak? Of course! What with the school being comprised of people all over the world and all. He was sure there were at least one or two people back in Belgium around that height, but he can’t recall any women of the sort. Most were still taller by him, but only by a few inches.
Apidae quickly dusted himself off in her presence, becoming slightly self-conscious. He glanced beside himself to notice his leather briefcase, which he grabbed by the handle to pull close to his body. After collecting himself completely, Apidae turned his attention back onto the fellow student. With his free hand, Apidae reached out his arm.
“Well, hello then. I’m Apidae Claes, Super High School Level Bee Keeper. And you may be?”
Ah- that explains it. He isn’t Japanese, or at least he doesn’t seem Japanese, he could very well be half but that’s none of her business right now. But damn he’s so short there’s no way he could be a high schooler. Her gaze stayed strong on the other, reaching down to shake his hand. She feels like she just got a toddler to sign a contract. “Crystal Waters, Super High School Level Lawyer.”

She frowns, well, more of a :/ face makes it’s way to her face as he tries to explain their situation. She crosses her arms, shifting her weight to one leg as she works this over in her head, her eyes flicking upwards as she tries to recall what happened last before she woke up here. She wants to assume this is a prank of sorts but there’s always the possibility of it being real. “Well…in that case we all better stay safe.”
That does spark interest in her, standing upright again, she digs around in her skirt pocket to locate her phone….nothing. She huffs. going back to crossing her arms. “No phone on me either.” Whoever planned this out thought well ahead it seems. Tucking some hair behind her ear, she looks around, tilting her head slightly. “They can still one day kill, however. Something can make them snap.” Even herself she guesses.
“Some of these kids I recognize, but I wouldn’t be able to name them….My girlfriend is here and she’s the only one I really know.” But she feels u…What’s a social life tbh.
Cain sighs in frustration when Crystal doesn’t seem to have her cellphone either. He dragged his hands down his face and lightly kicked at the ground, mumbling from under his breath. “Do remember anything before waking up here? Like, being knocked out or anything? Pretty much all of my memories are a-ok, but I don’t remember how I got here…” Cain furrowed his eyebrows in concentration and scratched the side of his face. “That’s true. I just don’t want to see a dead body on the first day here. Not very pleasant.”
“At least someone you’re familiar with is also here. I mean, that means you’re both at risk, but you’ve got someone you can trust.” Cain stared off the side for a few brief moments, then realized that he didn’t know the name of the person he was talking to! How rude of him.
He extended his hand out for a handshake and tilted his head slightly. “I’m Cain Grayson, by the way. I guess it’s better to familiarize ourselves with everyone here.”

Motive| 1
Some time has passed since everyone awoke in the warehouse. Since then, some explored, some panicked, some united with a friend, but ultimately, there was nothing left to do apart from accepting the situation and becoming somewhat settled within the confines of the musty facility. Silently, some must be wondering if any of them would soon kill another, or if everyone will use their strength in number to find another way out. There’s nothing forcing them to kill, after all. There is nothing yet worth killing over.
The speakers across the facility sprang to life with static. Then, a voice spoke through, the same voice that welcomed everyone on the first day. “Hello, everyone, again! It’s been a few days. How are you? I hope good, but you’re going to be better than good very soon. I decided to get a present for everyone. Does everyone know where the hospital is? You should. It’s very big. If you enter the hospital and look to the counter in the window, everyone will find a stack of electronic… tablets! There’s twenty of them, and twenty of you; one for each of you! Don’t take two. Taking two is unfair.”
“I decided that… it would be nice if everyone had the layout of the place with them. There’s a map uploaded to each tablet, and a list of everyone here. Like a roster. It can tell you the time, too. Technology is really amazing; I’m excited to see everyone’s reaction to these tablets.”
“Oh. Let me tell you about the best feature. There’s a feature called ‘feed’. Feed, live video feed. If you toggle through it, I think you’ll eventually find a feed from a place that’s really familiar. Or of really familiar people. It was hard setting up cameras in all these places, but not that hard. Some of these people are really important to you, right? You don’t want to see them get hurt, right? We can watch them live life for a while, then we can watch them die. It’s fair, I think. If no one can kill anyone this week, you can watch these people die instead,” the tone was casual, unfitting of the heavy threat it had announced.
“Hmm,” the voice paused for a brief moment, as though to collect its thoughts, “and also… I can hear things from here. I can hear and see everything. Yui! Yui, Yui mentioned weapons, I heard it. Something big to commit murder.  Knives, or something big like an axe to kill people more easily. There’s already some knives in the kitchen, but I was nice. I got an axe. It’s not really large, but it’s an axe, and it’s next to the tablets on the counter in the hospital lobby. Have fun with the axe, or look forward to watching the massacre at the end of the week.”
Finally, after another very brief moment of static, the speakers silenced with a clack.
[[ On the counter in the hospital’s lobby are the tablets, one for each character. They all possess the same features: time, roster, map, and video feed of family/friends. Then, of course, there is one axe on the counter next to the tablets. It’s a fireman’s axe, one that you usually find behind glass in case of fire.]]

The floor was cold and hard against Apidae’s limp body. Steadily, his brain came to its senses, contracting muscles and pulling those of his back to get Apidae into a straight up position. He glanced around at the bodies surround him. All of them one by one started to move and rise up to their senses. Apidae thought back to what occured before he found himself here in… Where was he?
The only memory he could conjure was that of darkness. In the memory, the feeling of other people’s bodies surround his entire body. His breathing had been labored by the weight of these people. Why was I hurdled together with a bunch of people? Before considering what may have been occuring, a tall woman approached him. Was it simply his placement on the floor, or was she actually tall? This made Apidae laugh. Duh, she’s tall. Everyone’s taller than him. He smiled kindly as she asked him about his knowledge on this situation. He made a dramatic frown and poked his chin to over express his thinking.
“Hmmm… Nope. I’ve got no idea. I remember it was dark and there were people around me. That’s about it, though.” Once more, he surveyed the people around him, curious of their importance. “Are you also from Hope’s Peak?” Since being enrolled into Hope’s Peak, Apidae hadn’t made much to any friends. He was kind, but failed to acknowledge many of his pupils. Was this just a random assortment of citizens or a group of students collected from Hope’s Peak for this evil plot? Apidae didn’t focus too much on this speculation. He hardly cared for what the voice on the speakers had to say. All he understood was something about murder and covering tracks. Apidae just wanted to get back to class.
No don’t worry Apidae, she’s actually above average height for women in Japan. Way above average. Doesn’t help that she’s wearing platform heels. Cain was simply observing the surroundings of the room, noticing the boxes kept close to the corners and walls of the room. He was trying to decide between initiating conversation and investigating the room, but luckily, the decision was made for him. A girl approached him and Cain waited patiently for her to speak.
“Ah, I can’t say I know what’s going on for sure. The announcement from earlier implied that we’re trapped and the only way of escape is this ‘killing game.’ “
Cain frowned and shoved one of his hands into his pockets. “And my phone’s not on me, so there’s no way of calling for help. But I doubt anyone is going to kill anytime soon. Most people are still trying to sort things out and make sense of this situation.”
“But… Would you happen to know anything about anyone here? These faces look familiar, but I tended to keep to myself at school, so I never really reached out and make connections.”
She frowns, well, more of a :/ face makes it’s way to her face as he tries to explain their situation. “Some of these kids I recognize, but I wouldn’t be able to name them....My girlfriend is here and she’s the only one I really know.” But she feels u...What’s a social life tbh.

Crystal was trying her best to work out what was going on here, mysteries and such are one of her specialties- to a certain point at least. Law leaves a lot of room for solving mysteries she guesses, easiest way to put that. Though there’s not much she can figure out by herself, especially with a bad headache, she just knows something is happening here, just what that ‘something’ is though....she can’t tell.
“I’m just as confused...” Reaching a hand up to rest on her temple. Looking at her surroundings now, she tries to figure out where they are. “Seems like we’re in a storage room of some sort at least.”
So it Begins - Open Starter for Dangan Summer
When the mysterious disembodied voice over the intercom informed Hanako that she and all the others around her had been brought to this unknown place to kill each other for a chance to escape, Hanako’s first reaction was pure bewilderment. However, that only lasted for a few seconds, before worry and fright began to set in, chilling Hanako to the bone. As the voice continued to speak, Hanako slowly turned from side to side, taking in her surroundings - not just the place that she was in, but the people around her as well.
Almost immediately, Hanako recognized some of the people around her. Actually, she recognized all of them! These were her peers, her fellow classmates at the prestigious Hope’s Peak. So, that was one thing they had in common. However, whatever this place was, Hanako was certain that it wasn’t anyone on the grounds of Hope’s Peak.
Furrowing her brow and tucking a stray piece of blonde hair behind her ear, Hanako assessed the situation in the privacy of her mind. What was she supposed to do now? After its little announcement, the strange voice had simply stated for her to be as “awful” as she wanted. Well, maybe she should try to learn a little bit about where she was, and get used to her surroundings. But first, Hanako wanted to speak to her peers. Maybe one of them had a hunch about what was going on…
Approaching one of her peers closest to her, Hanako cleared her throat to grab their attention, before speaking. “Do you have any idea where we are or what’s going on, or are you just as confused as I am?”
