hey man, what kind of app would you recommend to keep track of sets?
The absolute best app I've used is Stronglifts. That said, only the premium version allows you to make custom workouts with custom reps and sets. But I highly recommend it if for no other reason than it also tracks your progress across time, gives you a weight calculator for barbell, and gives you correct form examples. I've used it for the past three + years.

I remember when I first started lifting. Had no idea what I was doing, felt embarrassed to do even basic lifts in front of other people, and failures really weighed on me. Luckily I had a friend, who was also as much of a beginner as me, but had more charisma and didn't care about looking silly. He really helped me through the first few months of my lifting.
My honest advice, take it easy, take it slow, and don't worry about how silly it looks or feels or if you fail. It's all part of the journey and the journey is the goal and before you know it you'll be looking back at the "silly stage" fondly.
