presenting today's perfect trio that exists almost entirely in my head:

burgh and elesa's gyms are 2 of the closest gyms to gear station.

burgh and elesa's types (bug and electric respectively) are also both associated heavily with emmet, in particular the infamous joltik being both of these types.

related to the above: only elesa actually uses it as a strategy (and very notoriously, too, she practically started it ingame); but voltturn is a pretty iconic combination in competitive featuring electric and bug.

their english names spell out BEE, which matches very well with burgh's BW1 honey gym, elesa's yellow + black colours and emmet's stripes.

Actually going by the slang they use, the Battle Chatelaines seem to be speaking with an Irish dialect!

As for why, it’s a case of localization- in Japanese they speak in a certain dialect, Hakata-ben, which originates in Fukuoka City, which is located on Kyushu, one of Japan’s main islands and the real life inspiration for the Hoenn region!

This is a case of trying to preserve the nuances of linguistic quirks in a way that makes sense for the audience (one recent example of this was how Rika’s Kansai-ben was localized in the Italian version by having her speak in the Romanesco dialect). As for whether or not an Irish accent is a good way of conveying the same associations for an English speaker as Hakata-ben does for a Japanese speaker… it’s hard to say. Someone with a better understanding of Japanese and the country of Japan as a whole would be better at answering that question.

Interesting note: Dana is the only one of the sisters who tries to hide her accent/dialect due to her “act,” but she’ll let it out upon being beaten by the player or on her “home turf” in ORAS.

Why are the Battle Chatelaines British despite ORAS establishing them as being from Hoenn, a decidedly un-British region.
