I did this about a year ago and it was hella fun, but it died out and nobody from the old class are here anymore, and I wanted to bring it back!

Basically, anyone wanna form our own class? Thirty years in the past with the freedom of not being tied to the modern plot, with our own teachers, our own dynamics, our own sports festival arcs?

STRICKEN GUILT STILL SHAKES his very core. He is unable to look his older brother in the eye. He has caused so much pain. To him, to Kojo, to so many others. He shouldn’t of let himself get blinded by rage. Not let his heart get consumed by the purpose of revenge. Something he himself didn’t know until that moment when he broke into where All for One hides and leading to his complications.

He deserves it. He tells himself. He deserve every ounce of these injuries for letting his guard down and letting his anger control him. His heart twists and turns at the thought of those moments. Moments where if he was watching as a bystander, he would’ve told himself to calm down. That heroes were not supposed to act like this.

YEAH, SOME HERO HE was, being held down by such emotions he swore to himself to not ever let him dictate the outcome, but he did. He risked his brothers to die and they nearly did. What kind of hero does that? What kind of brother does that? 

He exhales deeply, letting out a shrug of his shoulders, letting out only a few more words.

“ I have nothing to say to you, Naka. “ He didn’t need to keep putting his life at risk for him. Didn’t he see how much he hurt from before? Why does he keep reaching out like this? Why does he try? He doesn’t need to deal with this, he doesn’t need his brother trying to let himself in. He saw what he did back there. He saw what happened to him there. He saw things he shouldn’t of every saw and it was ALL HIS FAULT. 

Sometimes he wondered how Toshinori had made it this long with that thick skull of his, how his brother was still standing after piling more and more upon his own shoulders, responsibility and guilt in equal measures. Always, always, Nori had seemed to be able to handle everything thrown his way with a laugh and easy redirection, and sometimes it even fooled his brothers into thinking he really was just that tough, that unaffected, that above it all.

But not today, not with this.

“Are you really so fucking dense, Toshinori? You’re running. I can see that.” Toshinaka pulled back the crutch that he’d used to close the door, not willing to let the younger end this conversation short. Besides, from everything he’s heard, the last thing Nori needed was to be up and about too much.

He didn’t risk trying to close the gap between them; he didn’t know if he could stay upright without the wall’s support.

“Why are you so keen on destroying yourself?” And just like that, the angry edge left him, and Toshinaka visibly deflated. “You’re pushing people away. I heard what happened with Nighteye. Yet you still intend to keep working, despite...” He gestured vaguely to the mess of medical equipment in Toshinori’s hospital room.

“Nori...you saved us. You saved me.”

“Midoriya m’boy! Excellent work today!” All Might had been watching Midoriya’s jog from the side, giving a smile of approval as he offered a water bottle and towel. While there was still far to go, the improvement in the boy’s speed and stamina was nothing to scoff at. They’ll be cutting it close, but Midoriya will definitely be able to host One for All successfully before the entrance exams begin.

“You must be starved-- come on, let’s get some wholesome food in you. On me, of course!”

All Might had only just reached the intersection, groceries for the week in hand, when something --someone-- slammed into him at full speed. It would have been enough to send most people sprawling; he was keenly aware of the fact they were next to a busy roadway, vehicles speeding past at dangerous velocities.

Practiced reflexes kicked in; groceries abandoned to the ground as he grabbed the other against them. There was no time and not enough strength or stability to prevent a fall, but All Might pulled them away from the road, padding their falls with his down body.

Ow. Ow. He’s going to just. Stay on the ground in a pained daze for a minute here, among smashed eggs and a now-leaking carton of milk.

13. how does the image your character tries to project differ from the image they actually project?

Wheezes about this question because this, at its core, is the biggest difference from my last muse [x] and it’s really refreshing but also terrifying to write.

Because to All Might, he is All Might first and foremost, and Yagi Toshinori second. He lives in the image he is trying to project more than who he really is. It’s why even out of dialogue I very very rarely refer to him as Toshinori– because that’s not how he thinks of himself.

To answer the question directly, as the Hero All Might as presented to the public, All Might achieves pretty much exactly what he aimed to project. He wants to be seen as powerful, someone that can be counted on, that will never let you down. Intimidating to villains but friendly and approachable to lawful citizens. It’s incredible how much of this he actually pulls off.

But his image only holds until someone learns the truth about his condition. He’s so obviously weak and frail and fragile, so so different from what he’s trying to be– and that doesn’t stop him from trying to hold onto his persona anyways.

The only time we’ve really ever see him even admit some kind of vulnerability verbally in the entire series? When he first met Izuku. I smile to show the pressure of heroes, and to trick the fear inside me. But even then it’s still not an outright admittance of weakness so much as just a warning for the boy.

Even in his weak form, he waves off concern, acts casually about what’s otherwise very serious health problems, would not tell Midoriya about his own foretold death. He holds so much on himself entirely. To the few people that knew him in this form, he still his best to be absolutely reliable– though he fails often with his waning health and time limit.

Even when his form was revealed to the world he still put his everything into putting on a brave front. To not waver. My spirit remains! I am still the symbiol of peace! Even when sending a mesaage to his successor, he put on a show for the media and the public too. That message was meant for everyone, the double meaning intended. You’re next. Even in the state he had been, putting up his fist in victory for the last time, he was reassuring the masses, being the deterral to villains, giving people HOPE in the aftermath of what was otherwise a devastating incident.

It’s a hard transition as more and more people see him for who he is now rather than who he wants to be. As people treat him as fragile, someone to protect, someone who’d kept out of big operations like the Overhaul arc. He’s learning to accept that, and work towards what he still can do even without his powers.

Like being a good teacher with an abundance of experience to offer, making sure he raises Midoriya properly, and continuing to use the publicity and weight of public support that he still holds to affect change and give people reassurance.

Something I consistently trip up on is what I call Toshi when I write IC.... I write in almost exclusively third person limited so everything is from his perspective. Names and titles etc I stick to what he knows and what he thinks of people and it’s easy enough for the most part....

and then....it comes to...frickin...himself. SO. Before Kamino, 100% I always write him as All Might. That’s who he is, that’s how he sees himself, that’s the identity he wants to present and to be seen as. Many years post retirement, like all the v6 old toshi stuff i’m writing, he’s comfortable identifying as Yagi Toshinori

But the time period right after Kamino? There’s definitely a lot of conflict as to. How he thinks of himself. He’s been the Symbol his entire adult life, he’s been All Might first and nothing else came before that, not even the people closest to him ( see: sir nighteye dsjsjhsdfjh ) and we can still see him stubbornly clinging to that a bit.

part of it is in rebellion to AFO’s words. I am still the symbol of peace! we see him wearing his hero suit when confronting his worst enemy. as a sign of defiance to AFO’s wishes, and also a moral shield of sorts for himself. talking to AFO is fuckin hard okay.

but like.....he also knows its important to let go, to leave things to the next generation and focus on what he can do now, not as a hero, but as a teacher.

we still don’t ever see anyone in canon call him anything other than All Might, with the sole exception of Gran Torino iirc.  Which is telling tbh, not only in how everyone still respects him as the former #1 hero, but also in how he prefers to be addressed; he has definitely not corrected anyone, and honestly I wonder how many people even knows his name.

It’s been a secret all these years, and nothing in canon has said that it’d leaked after kamino either so like

tldr: one thread recently someone asked him for his name and his brain supplied “All Might” and “Yagi” simultaneously and he tried to say both at once and it was hella embarrassing and he’s def in the middle of a bit of an identity crisis atm
