howdy howdy howdy. 19 year old cis man who has constructed this blog to have exactly one place to unabashedly express myself, across the board. new to tumblr and forever will be so. uhh, anyone can talk to me? i don't mind.

my greatest fear is creating nothing and still being lauded for it
It's so nice being on tumblr because you don't even have to make your own post but people would still follow you anyways if you're good at rebloging posts they like

In-depth and very real review, and a sentiment that i definitely feel very similar about. TTP2 was a good game, but it was a different game from TTP1 and it was always going to be. Felt a lot more AAA-coded than the first, which wasn't exactly my style, but was still fun and I liked the story (even if I still ultimately preferred TTP1's).
i never did talk about the talos principle 2 here i don’t think?
it was sort of a weird game for me, especially coming off the heels of the first game which i absolutely fell in love with. i was immediately caught off guard by the HEAVY emphasis on cutscenes cutscene and character driven storytelling when the first game most of the story was drip-fed and a bit more subtle with it. i ended up really liking the characters and i ultimately thought it was for the best for what they were going for, but there were some vibes that i felt were lost from the first to second game just with the change in approach to storytelling despite it fitting the strong new theming and philosophy.
i sort of felt the same with the puzzles in the second game, which have all the pros and cons that come with a sequel going bigger and broader with its mechanics. there are a ton of new gimmicks that are more or less all interesting, the new environments are visually stunning and might even surpass the first game in many places, and there’s just More Content. it’s a big game, and it was genuinely so impressive what they managed to do with it. but there were drawbacks to all of this. the number of new gimmicks were impressive and they were all mechanically interesting, but none of them ever were explored as deeply as the admittedly less flashy ones in the first game. the environments were beautiful but also a pain to traverse because of how big they were. the size of the game was impressive, but the pacing took a hit, and the amount of times i would stop to see what characters would have to say in each area certainly didn’t help things.
the whole game was an interesting case of a sequel that took the exact right approach for a sequel to take in terms of creating a new and valuable artistic work that is familiar and different in all the right ways, but just didn’t resonate with me personally on the level that the first game did. it’s, like, an 8 or 8.5/10 as opposed to a 9.5 or a 10/10, which is by no means a bad thing. i’ve seen some people say that it’s better than the first game in every way, and i don’t think people are wrong for that. it’s a different game, and i could see those differences really vibing with people. but for me personally, i expect the first game to go down as an all time favorite, whereas the second will probably end up more as a really solid expansion to the first that didn’t quite hit as hard for me.

100% this kind of talk is exactly what makes me afraid to have any physical contact with people. Last time I touched another human being for more than one second was probably like, a year ago? More? I am probably touchstarved and it does make me sad.
shipping characters who are just friends in canon is more than okay but what’s annoying is when people take screenshots of them touching and say “friends don’t do that!”. i hate to break it to you but friends do hug and hold hands and cuddle. saying ‘friends don’t do that’ is reenforcing the idea that physical touch is reserved for lovers

reminds me of my DnD character who has become an overarching OC who is interdimensionally warped around at random by a far-reaching deity of chaos and has thousands of alternate versions of himself (which allows me to make him any class or race I need in the moment) and each one has their own lore and history and universe of origin. also the most recent one is probably in a throuple with two of his other selves but shhhh
”you can just make an oc” you dont understand anything. the character needs to mutate naturally until unrecognizable. like all evolutionary processes it takes time. you can’t force it or it doesn’t take. you must endure weird ooc thematically discordant versions of a guy until they bud off into beautiful new life. have patience

i love solving the quadratic equation! it makes my machines start working
It’s so funny seeing non-science people write scientist characters. specifically when arcane fans write Jayce and Viktor and they’re in the lab just talking about “solving equations.” exquisite.
yo who up solving they equation
