This link provides a direct look at a useful application for AI, gaming. Animating game characters is an incredible arduous process, but it can be streamlined with artificial intelligence. Programmers can feed the computer hours of motion capture footage, and the computer will learn the types of motions that humans make. It can then stitch these motions together into ones that weren’t explicitly given by footage! This process creates more realistic movements for characters, making gameplay more immersive.

Now that you have learned about the fundamentals of AI and even experienced it, we can start talking about neural networks. A neural network is a mechanism that allows the computer to learn from some given data. Neural networks are loosely modeled after a human brain, meaning that they consist of thousands of individual neurons which form millions of connections between them. Every time the machine is fed data, it forms more connections with its existing neurons, creating a vast network that it can access data from. This is essentially what the human brain does, but at a much greater complexity. The article will go into more depth on what exactly constitutes a “neuron”.

This is a great website for a hands on experience with artificial intelligence. All of these experiments use artificial intelligence to do cool things, such as recognizing your drawings and identifying objects that you take pictures of. Each experiment has a corresponding video explaining how the artificial intelligence framework powers it. My favorite experiments on this website are Quick, Draw! and The Infinite Drum Machine.

In my opinion, artificial intelligence is one of the most fascinating topics in computing today. Ideas to build a computer with an intelligence level that is on par with the human brain have existed for many years. Although we haven’t achieved a brain like machine, we are able to use artificial intelligence to enhance existing applications such as games. AI learns from every interaction it has which means that it is able to make predictions based on its existing knowledge. This type of machine learning makes games more realistic and programs better every time they run. The linked website provides an in-depth overview of AI in the form of Q and A’s. Feel free to browse around!

Hello listeners! Here is an excellent article to understand the fundamentals of computing. It covers binary numbers, adders, and circuits, which are the basis of processors and memory. It is not vital to understand it completely, but it will provide us with a good foundation for later episodes that will cover topics such as hardware and computer security. Feel free to skip the last few sections of the article pertaining to fabrication and memory. Enjoy!
