You receive a call during the middle of the day from an unsaved number; a polite voice greets you asking for Lee Taeyong. She goes on to say, “We would like to discuss with you, the results of your audition. Those who have seen your audition have decided that you would be a great addition to the company and future projects here at Apollo Entertainment. CEO Kwon would like to extend the offer into a contract and have you begin training immediately. Would you like to schedule a time to come in?”
the phone call startles him, not expecting anyone giving him a ring. the voice on the other end shocks him further, fully expecting the company to just ghost him after his haphazard audition. he hadn't been that good, plus he's old even if the scout had called him handsome. there's dozen of better looking younger kids out there, still bright eyed and ready to sign away their futures. taeyong isn't so sure.
he decides to go in anyways, just to see what this is all about.
"i don't understand all of this," he admits, looking over the paperwork and promises they lay in front of them. it's a pile of big words and clauses that he kinda wishes he had a lawyer to look through and advise him on before signing anything. there are some things he does understand though. there's the fact that he'll have to move into a dorm. what will jungkook do with half of the rent suddenly leaving the apartment? he can't leave him high and dry. sure they don't always get along, but taeyong isn't so cruel. then there's the stipulation that he will not receive any compensation for his time for a full year. a year. one full turn around the sun without a cent to send to his sisters and brother. he's done so much for them so far, but he has no intention to stop here. they'll need him, at least until his second sister graduates high school. maybe mom can handle his brother's school years on her own, but not yet.
it makes his stomach twist. if he signs this agreement, he'll be breaking too many promises in his personal life. it's why he sets down the pen, pushing the papers back at the apollo staff who set them in front of him in the first place.
"thank you," he says with a bow, first and foremost grateful for the opportunity he's been given. "and i'm really sorry for wasting everyone's time. i don't think it's feasible for me to become a trainee at this time. i didn't expect to get this far, and the decision isn't one i can make lightly. if there's another opportunity, maybe my situation and position will be different. but thank you again for considering me, and please accept my apologies."
he gives a deep bow when he leaves the room.
a few days later his sister asks him. what ever happened with that audition i scheduled for you? "oh," taeyong says idly, the lie coming far too easily to his lips. he doesn't need her feeling guilty for a decision he made. "i never heard back."
OOC: You’ve been offered a contract by APOLLO entertainment! If you’d like to sign please read over APOLLO’s trainee expectations here and then submit the attached form to the APOLLO blog’s submission box. For more information about becoming a trainee at LIMITLESS, please click here! Also remember that not signing does not affect your chances at getting scouted again. You have a week to decide; this contract offer will expire on next week THURSDAY ( November 7th ) at the end of the day, midnight EST.

lmhaechan:
“i’d help,” donghyuck says suddenly observing how much this job would probably make him stab his eyes out. “but this looks like the most boring kind of work possible. how can you work here? it’s like… this is probably what my own personal hell looks like.” donghyuck shutters, looking up at the bright fluorescent lights. “you should ask to leave early. i’ll buy you food and we can go do something fun.”
taeyong’s shoulder becomes a place to cling to and he leans close to pout. “please, please,” he says with a thick layer of aegyo over his voice. “i’ll kiss you if you don’t say yes.” donghyuck lets go and leans back. “what if i mess up all your… i don’t even know what you’re doing. this job is crazy. even i’m going crazy just watching you work.”
"i work here 'cause i need the money," he's patient as ever, smiling just a little bit as donghyuck complains about how he's far too busy with his responsibilities in retail hell to do.. whatever it is the boy would rather him be doing right now. honestly, taeyong would like to be anywhere but here. but his responsibilities are not only to himself; there's a roommate who needs him to be able to make his share of the rent, and three little siblings who always need something replaced or repaired. as much as he'd just like to go home, he really shouldn't.
taeyong laughs gently anyways. donghyuck is a cute kid. "go ahead, kiss me, see if i care," he teases, "it's just an hour anyways. i'll buy you some snacks if you don't mind waiting." he may as well just go if he's going to waste his paycheck on chips and cookies for the boy, but it's the principle of the matter. no matter how much he's hated any of his jobs, he's always had a healthy work ethic.

lmheejin:
“accidentally!” heejin’s quick to defend herself, lest taeyong decides to accuse her of anything else that she didn’t purposely do. sure, taeyong isn’t her older brother, heejin doesn’t have one, but he’d always acted like one (even when she never wanted him to, much rather preferring he treat her like how a man would treat a woman. but that was another issue altogether).
still, despite her own complicated thoughts, she’d always been envious of her friends for having such a caring brother. “they weren’t that cute. maybe a little. but they approached us right before we entered the haunted house. taeeun unnie went with them, but i wasn’t going to give up a haunted house for a bunch of boys,” she shrugs. ah right, she’s getting off track.
“yeah sure,” heejin finds herself giving in. “i saw them a while ago near the booths, getting a few things,” she gestures for taeyong to follow her. “oppa, you should repay my kindness by treating me to something the next time we hang out” she jokes, turning around briefly to look at him, silly smile plastered on her face.
he gives her a look, but he doesn't have the time or the authority to give her a real talking to about punching an innocent actor for doing his job. taeyong's more worried about his sister and the boys, the longer he's listening to heejin's story the more he begins to grow concerned. it's not that he doesn't believe that she can't take care of herself, but he'd rather not have her be in a situation where she'd have to.
"where did they go?" he doesn't care if they were cute or not, he just wants to know what they want with his sister. he tries to think positive, soothes himself by assuming they're classmates or something who were just looking for a photobooth or backdrop to post pictures on instagram later and laugh about running into each other. of course, his mind goes to the worst. but when has the best ever worked out for him anyways?
taeyong follows the girl easily, feeling better now that he's actually doing something about finding his stray sister. "hm?" he's distracted from his worrisome thoughts by heejin's continued chatter, tuning in again to hear her making demands of him. he grins. "maybe," he says, not promising anything. "i guess that'll depend on how much you help me, right?"

lmxjaehyun:
he doesn’t have much sense in him as is, so now that he’s here, all of it has inevitably been tossed away in favor of this state of bliss (which will surely come with downsides tomorrow). if he had a couple less shots in him, maybe he’d realize just how far gone they both are, but it’s difficult enough to form a proper thought beyond the confines of the conversation they’re having. it’s short and to the point, and yet it’s all he’s focused on. everything else is background noise.
taeyong’s giggles make his smile grow wider, full of more genuineness than he’d ever like to admit. sober or not, he wants taeyong to be happy. this is jaehyun’s version of that, so he’s basking in the results, even if he won’t remember them properly once the night is over.
“ the funnest! i’m gonna start —— start bringing you with me everywhere. ” he hugs taeyong closer to him, paying closer attention once he starts talking about his opinion of him. the response makes his laughs grow louder, rumbling through the air until he finishes with a content sigh. “ all i heard was handsome, sorryyyy, ” he says smugly, eyes closed briefly before he looks over at him. “ tell me more nice things, yeah? i’ll give you, mmmm… a prize. ”
jaehyun pulls them closer together, and taeyong only complains. he pushes back half-heartedly. a slurry of half-mumbled protests that it's too hot, he's too sweaty, he doesn't want to smell jaehyun's armpits. he means what he says, of course, but he also doesn't hate it as much as he might claim. there's a part of him that enjoys being close to his friend, though how large or small a part that it may be is harder to be determined.
he likes the way jaehyun continues on his rambles of praise for taeyong, the way he wants to have him nearby despite taeyong being an utter stick in the mud until this moment exactly. if jaehyun wants to take him everywhere, in this moment he'll go. let's do something crazy, he almost says, a stupid grin on his face swallowing his words instead. let's spend all our money and hop on a plane and see somewhere warm and tropical and forget about the world. but even as far gone as taeyong is now, he would never. there's too many people relying on him here.
"why should i?" he challenges, deliberately withholding what jaehyun wants from him, but only for a moment. "just 'cause you're.. tall.. smile nice.. good hair.." there's a lot of things to praise about jaehyun, most of them physical, but taeyong can say he enjoys him as a friend too. "what's the prize even gonna be, huh? a brand new car?" the man laughs, pleased with his cliche game show impression. how useless would a car be? he doesn't even have a license to drive it.
all day all night.

lmsooyoung:
sooyoung softly hums to herself as she reflects on the question that is asked. there was an answer that comes to her mind but the way she had answered it sounded almost as if she was a bit unsure, “magic tricks?” she chuckles afterwards for she knew a handful of magic tricks and while they weren’t as intricate as some of the ones famous magicians would show, it was still a good party trick to show.
“well, i know a few magic tricks here and there. so i guess depending on who is seeing the trick, they may or may not believe that it’s actually magic.” sooyoung admitted out loud. there were some people who would be skeptical over magic tricks and sooyoung used to be that person until she was taught how to do some of them. since that experience, she felt that it was best to believe that magic tricks were magic rather than breaking it down and ruining the fun.
her attention shifts towards the wooden box and in her mind, she guesses over what the purpose of the box was. but as she looks at the design, a part of her couldn’t help but be impressed. “i imagine that if you asked someone around here who knows about these kinds of stuffs, they might tell you what is the meaning of the pattern.” her lips form a smile as she adds, “but you’re right though. the box is quite pretty. i wonder how much that one costs.”
as she listens to his answer, sooyoung laughs in amusement. “looks like i’m not the only one who is here to kill some time.” she admitted out loud, for she knew that going to this event was better than just staying at the dorms. “you have siblings?” she repeats, curious to know if she had passed by one of them during her time at the event. sooyoung thinks about his suggestion before responding, “costume accessories…i guess that’s something i should look into considering that i didn’t really dress up for this event.”
"are magic tricks real magic?" he almost laughs, but chokes his giggles down when he realizes just how rude that would be. slight of hand is fascinating for sure, but it's all just smoke and mirrors. he's talking about the unexplained, the things that can't be demonstrated or even repeated by a dozen different people. he's talking about dragons and phoenixes, foxes with many tails and ghosts that whisper in your ear and freeze your body at night. or, on the brighter side of the magical spectrum, santa claus and the tooth fairy. the things he's never seen, and may not believe in.
taeyong has to admit though, he's pretty interested in these magic tricks that the woman claims to know. he's never been especially dextrous with his hands himself, bad handwriting just one of many reasons it was a better idea for him to drop out of high school entirely, but he has an admiration for people better than him in any respect. "really?" he asks, brows raised and expression open and interested. "what can you do? is it like card tricks?" he's seen a few videos. still can't do them himself.
he traces the pattern over the box, gently and carefully of course as he has no intention of buying it, and admires the artistry quietly. another fine motor skill he never was able to acquire; it would be fun to know how to paint or draw, but taeyong knows his talents lie elsewhere. "i think i'm afraid to ask," he jokes, placing the box back where he got it from and wiping his hand on his jeans. "what if someone tells me i'm cursed forever 'cause, i don't know, i didn't ask the spirit trapped inside before i touched it? i think i'm happier staying in the dark."
"three of them," taeyong smiles softly, always eager to talk about the most important people in his life. "two sisters and a brother, all younger than me. i feel like a parent sometimes, honestly." his laugh doesn't quite cover up the sad truth of the matter; he gave up his adolescence to take up the role his father neglected. "i didn't dress up either.. do you think we need a stylist, before we get kicked out from the party?" he grins. wouldn't that be funny?

lmjihoon:
jihoon’s not usually one for horror nights and late-night frights – he can barely even stand being in the same room as a television playing a scary movie. one might be wondering, why would he resort to subjecting himself to something like this if he was even just the slightest bit terrified of the thought of halloween. the answer lies in the fact that it is, in fact, halloween, and jihoon figures that if there’s any day of the entire year that is meant for button-pushing and boundary-drawing, it’s halloween.
it’s not like he’s absolutely scared out of his wits with anything remotely spooky. he understands that horror and scary vibes aren’t unsafe – they’re just, well, scary. it’s human nature to be scared of something, and the people who say they’re scared of nothing are irrational and wrong.
he doesn’t necessarily think the same about the people who are scared of everything – surely there has to be some psychological reasoning to why exactly fear takes place, especially with what fear it might be. he doesn’t know why he’s going on this tangent, but it’s a thought in the same direction.
maybe he’s thinking about everything else but the fact that he’s in this godforsaken haunted hell house – putting it completely lightly. the first startle takes him away from hearing whatever the boy next to him is saying, and with his heart calming down a bit, he turns and replies, “you’re lucky – i can’t even watch a horror movie all the way through without closing my eyes at least once. i… don’t know why i did this.”
he grins, and promptly is startled by a flash of light and a bang from somewhere else in the haunted house. there's shrieks of other visitors heard from behind the walls, mostly muffled by music and sound effects playing in the room they're currently being lead through. taeyong can't help but be embarrassed by how easily startled he is tonight; it's atypical for him, and furthermore not the behavior expected of the eldest son. his sister would tease him endlessly if she saw this.
"i don't actually watch horror movies that often," he admits, grin sheepish in a way that has a little bit to do with the lingering humiliation of his fears. "maybe i haven't built up proper immunity, or something. i don't know."
taeyong never saw much of a point in paying for something to make you uncomfortable. it's impractical, to say the least. he can get the same exhilaration and adrenaline rush from finding an especially large spider in the shower in a particularly cheap apartment, and that experience is completely free. though he supposes, by his own logic, being in this haunted house now is a waste of his time. he supposes he should at least try to have some fun, even if his heartbeat is pounding in his ears.
"you and me both," he manages a laugh, almost genuine save for the shake in his voice at the end. "don't worry though, i think i can protect you from the worst of the monsters. jekyll and hyde over there don't look too intimidating, right?"

— APOLLO IS CALLING
LEE TAEYONG AUDITIONS FOR APOLLO ENTERTAINMENT … performing natural by imagine dragons
“i’m not sure it’s real,” he turns the card over in his hands, only for it to be snatched away by an eager little sister. of course it was taewon, always the eager one. he can’t help but smile as he watches her examine it, turning it this way and that, even holding it up to the light as if to verify it the same way one would a paper bill.
“well, there’s only one way to find out,” she sounds very full of herself, already pulling her phone out of her pocket and tapping the number herself.
taeyong tries to stop her, tries to tell her no, but it’s too late. she presses the button for speaker and they hear the ringback tone immediately. taeyong’s blood runs cold. what if it’s a scam and his little sister falls for it on his behalf? what will she say? how much information will she give? what if it’s not a scam, and it’s real, and taeyong, at the ripe old age of 24, is given a real, honest to god audition at one of the biggest entertainment companies in the country? can he give up his job, his free time, his freedom for a chance at a dream better held by someone half his age? of course, he’ll have to pass his audition first. there’s absolutely no guarantee of that.
someone answers on the other end of the line. he’s lost for words immediately.
luckily, taewon is quicker on his feet than he is. “hello, i’m calling on behalf of my brother. is this really apollo entertainment?” there’s a laugh on the other side of the line. they must get this question a lot.
before he knows it, lee taeyong is scheduled to go to the actual apollo building for a private audition.
the man is entirely unprepared and only has a few days to remedy that. they tell him he has to dance, which he might be grateful for. at least that’s something he used to do in his spare time, a hobby he occasionally has had the opportunity to make money on. even if this goes nowhere, will ‘auditionee for apollo entertainment’ look good on a resume? probably not, if he’s rejected.
there’s a routine somewhere, he knows, posted online that he’s practiced in person before. several months ago, almost a year since he’s done it, but he can use his evenings in his little apartment to try to go through it, to sharpen moves gone sloppy and noodley from neglect. damn, it’s been so long since he’s properly danced. he goes to bed sore every night until the audition. taeyong is almost embarrassed by how nervous he is for this, as if he really has anything at all to lose by going through this. he doesn’t expect to get signed. he’s not even sure that he wants to.
still. the building is massive. he hesitates outside for a moment, looking up at the logo and wishing he had made some herbal tea for his nerves before leaving the apartment.
taeyong checks in at the front desk, follows a staff member to another room away from the visitors part of the building, and is left to wait. he wonders if this is a test of his nerves, and if it is he’s probably failing. his palms are slick with nervous perspiration and he physically flinches at every little sound, wondering if it’s someone telling him it’s time to begin. finally, taeyong realizes he has to take this time to warm up. he stretches, gets his blood flowing. he’s on the floor and reaching in front of himself with splayed legs when someone beckons him into the next room.
he’s absolutely floored.
kwon boa herself is sitting there, waiting for his measly performance. had the scout on the street really liked him that much to waste the ceo’s time with a first audition? this was obviously not a preliminary screening and taeyong feels the pressure all the more heavily on his shoulders.
as directed, he takes his spot on the mark in the center of the room. the staff member from earlier already has his music, his phone plugged into a sound system with his selected piece ready to go. he swallows nervously, his mouth suddenly far too dry, and bows to each of his judges.
“i’m lee taeyong. thank you for inviting me here today. i’ll be dancing to natural by imagine dragons. choreographed by.. uh..” fuck. he’s forgotten the choreographer. “not me.” he risks a smile. no one looks amused.
at the direction of ceo kwon, the music starts. taeyong does as well.
he’s not as good as he used to be. at one time he was more graceful than he is now, limbs stiff and ill-practiced, but at least the choreography calls for more sharp movements than flowy ones. still, he could have stretched more. he wishes he had more time to practice, more time to win back some of that flexibility he had in abundance in his younger days. if only.
the music ends a little before the two minute mark, and he’s breathing heavily by the end of it. if they want him to sing as well.. well, they probably don’t really want to hear him sing. his shampoo bottles try to throw themselves off the shelves often enough that he’s assumed that he’s just that bad.
taeyong bows again, respectful even if he is no longer very talented. “thank you for your time and consideration,” he accepts his dismissal from the room.
immediately after exiting the building, he punches taewon’s number into his phone. she had been dying to hear about how it went, and he’s happy to humor her, as always.

lmheejin:
it’s not as though she doesn’t have anyone else to go with; but the lees are like family to her, and she enjoys spending time with them. heejin herself wasn’t exactly someone who’d readily open up to anyone else, much preferring her small circle of friends, and taeyong fell into that despite being a few years older.
“i thought she was with you,” heejin furrows her brows. she’d only just left the haunted house (which, in all honesty, didn’t feel that haunted), and her clothes were covered in what she thought was decor. “that’s why i had to go in there all alone! i might have accidentally punched a guy in there by accident…”
“a girl ignoring her brother out of spite? how surprising,” dramatically she puts a hand over her mouth, but she doesn’t deny his request. opening her messaging app, she begins to type a quick text to taeeun only to remember when she’d last seen her friend. “oh oppa!” she turns to taeyong, and holds onto his arm. “i actually saw her a while ago! she was flirting with some boys, but it should be fine. taeeun unnie can do better.”
“you punched a guy? heejin-” no, there’s no time to be getting into this. no matter how much the urge to scold the girl takes over, getting his sister home before their mother has a nervous breakdown takes priority. heejin may be like part of the family, but taeyong has to remind himself that he can’t really get into scolding her the same way he would one of the other kids. she doesn’t belong to him the same way, and she can literally just walk away if she doesn’t want to take it.
he raises his brows anyways as she gets sassy with him, a silent warning. she knows manners better than this. even if they’re close, taeyong is still her elder.
“what boys?” a look of concern crosses his face now. not that he would interrupt his sister’s budding romance, but she really shouldn’t be doing something like that alone. if taeyong knew the boys in question, he may feel better. even if they were from her school or something. but the mystery makes him uneasy.
“she’ll be mad if i interrupt her,” he realizes that he’s stuck. he’ll either get chewed out by his mother or his sister, and he has to pick the lesser punishment. “ugh. heejin, can you take me to where you last saw her? she’s late, and taesuk has to get home.” the poor youngest of the family, though he probably is delighted to stay up a few extra hours.

he had protested at first, as he always does. it’s irresponsible, it’s a waste of money, he has better things to do than this. but after so long of jaehyun’s whittling away at his better judgement, he finally gets what he wanted. taeyong, a few drinks he didn’t really count warming his stomach, just slightly unbalanced and grinning despite the way they’re a little too close to a speaker and the bass thrums in his chest. he rests a hand there idly, just feeling the beat. he leans against jaehyun, safe enough tucked under his friend’s arm.
a short bark of a laugh escapes him when jaehyun speaks. everything is just so funny right now.
“me? fun?” what a good joke jaehyun just made. taeyong laughs with his full chest, leaning further on his friend through his fit of giggles. “i don’t think you’ve ever called me fun!” perhaps it’s something he could do more, let loose. he rather likes the way jaehyun talks about him right now, even if he doesn’t make as much sense as he usually does.
“you know what you are?” taeyong continues speaking, even though no one asked him to. his voice isn’t particularly strong, but raised loud enough to at least hear himself over the music. “you’re...” he looks jaehyun over once, or at least as much as he can while sticking so close to him. “handsome... and kinda an ass,” he laughs again, thinking he just said something very clever.
all day all night.
@taeyongxlm.
after spending so many of his nights this way, you’d think that jaehyun would be over the thrill of it all, but if that were possible, he would have gotten burned out long ago. he has enough going on as is, so this part of his life is a source of stability, in a somewhat twisted way. (if it’s a coping mechanism, he’ll never admit it.)
it’s only natural for him to suck his friends into his friday night activities, especially one like taeyong. jaehyun has always thought that he could use a little more fun in his life; it won’t hurt to go clubbing once in a while with a dearest friend, he adamantly insisted until taeyong finally gave into his wishes.
having taeyong tag along with him was a cause for celebration, and celebrate they did. jaehyun is barely able to focus on one thing at once, the blaring music serving as a distraction from any sense that might still be left in him by this point in the night. still, no matter how far gone he is or will come to be, jaehyun would never forget to keep an eye out for taeyong. (although that’s a very generous way to describe what he’s doing). jaehyun’s arm is wrapped around the boy’s shoulder, eyes blinking slowly and wandering over the ceiling above them. “ it’s so fun, right? ” he says abruptly, without offering further context. “ so fun … you’re fun, yongie. ”

lmsooyoung:
being in an event like this was quite a nice break from all of the training. but as she looks through the booths to see what catches her attention, she stops momentarily when she realizes what the next booth is. curious to see what they would offer, sooyoung tries her best to recognize the items that were placed around them. many of them she couldn’t quite pinpoint what the purpose of it was, but as she was about to move somewhere else, she hears someone who she presumes is talking to her.
“no not really, to be honest.” sooyoung responds with nonchalance, even though there is a part of her that hopes that the fortune teller near her isn’t listening to their conversation. “or at least not this kind.” she looks at the items surrounding them. while she did like reading fantasy novels every so often, the idea of magic happening in real life was something that she couldn’t quite believe in. amused by his words, sooyoung shrugs her shoulders as she says out loud, “i guess they need to make income with what they do. i feel like some of the items are difficult to make or get but i don’t know much when it comes to magic and all.”
turning her head towards him, she then asks a question, “aside from this booth, was there anything else that caught your eye? the first thing i saw were all of the booths so i wasn’t sure if there was anything worth checking out.”
he’s honestly somewhat relieved that he picked another idle browser to chat with instead of someone who actually buys into the whole magic gems and spellcasting thing. taeyong isn’t certain, since he dodged that bullet pretty well just now, but he suspects that if he had accidentally started a conversation with a witch right now she would’ve been planning to put a curse on him already. he’s not a very superstitious sort of person himself, but he does believe in pure luck. he’s glad it was on his side today.
“what kind of magic do you believe in?” he’s curious, of course, since she mentioned this kind in particular. it’s nice to believe in some magic in the world, to explain why things work out the way they do, or that feeling that children have at christmas time that adults always envy. taeyong isn’t sure he believes in any of it anymore than he believes in a big guy up in the clouds watching over everyone. a nice thought, to be sure, but practical? he hasn’t seen any evidence of that yet. “oh yeah, i definitely appreciate the artistry. look at this.” he holds up a little wooden box, something probably meant for storing all of those trinkets and crystals, and admires the elaborately painted pattern on the lit. “i don’t believe it’s magic, but it’s damn pretty.”
maybe he should watch his language more around a lady. he smiles apologetically for the mild curse.
taeyong shrugs as she asks him about his shopping experience and he bites his tongue from saying that he might be the worst person to ask about anything interesting here. “i don’t know, i’ve just been killing time looking around. i didn’t really come to buy anything, i’m just an escort for my little siblings.” he smiles fondly at the thought of them. “i think i saw some cool costume accessories over there, though.”

lmaisha:
yoorim’s wandering the university grounds in search of her friends, somehow managing to lose them for the second time that night. she really needed to stop getting distracted so easily but that’s hard when so many things are happening at once and yoorim has always been an observer.
unfortunately though, this means she doesn’t notice the young man walking towards her until their paths cross – and he spills water all over her costume. she gasps out of shock and because some of the cold water hits her skin. for a moment she’s angry, but she tries not to show it because she doesn’t want the guy to feel worse than he probably already does – and that’s obvious by the panic in his words.
then she realizes her costume will be fine, and the anger dissolves, “ah, no no it’s okay.” she waves her hands and points to her catwoman suit, “it’s leather so it’ll wipe off easily.” she laughs, “i could use those napkins, though.”
of all people to dump water on, at least he happened to run into the girl dressed head to toe in leather. taeyong supposes it could be much worse; at least her costume is waterproof to some degree. “i didn’t know that was real,” he admits with some air of embarrassment still in his voice. he can’t help but wonder to himself how much a real leather bodysuit like that costs.
“um,” he hesitates for a moment, a plan of action slower to form in his head than he’d like. “wait here? i’ll grab something.” he promises the girl, waiting for some sort of confirmation before skittering off to the nearest booth with a napkin dispenser. he’s sure to dump what’s left of his water in the nearest trash bin as well; there’s nothing worth keeping and he’s never been one to litter.
both hands full of wads of cheap paper napkins, he makes his way back to where he left the poor drenched girl. “i’m sorry again,” he repeats himself, handing one stack over to her to let her wipe her own suit off. he knows better than to cause a scene by trying to help; he wouldn’t want anyone helping him de-water his catwoman costume if the roles were reversed. “i hope i didn’t ruin your time,” he manages a smile, soft and apologetic, and hopes that she’ll return it.

A tall woman with long legs and a pretty face walks up to you silently while in line at your local Starbucks. She looks you up and down and gives you a shy smile. “You’re really handsome,” she says before clearing her throat and putting on a more serious face– despite the blush that’s still sitting at the tips of her cheeks. “Here take this.” She hands you a card for APOLLO entertainment. “Give us a call and we can schedule an audition.”
he only has a very limited time. it’s his lunch break, a meager 30 minutes to get something to eat and get back to work. oh, it’d be nice to get off his feet for more than a minute, but there’s no seats in the line at starbucks. taeyong bears it, though he does not grin. in fact, he looks rather stoic, bordering on unhappy, as he waits to get his order. one black coffee, some sort of sandwich (he’s not yet close enough to their glass display to see what he can get the quickest).
initially, he’s dismissive. it’s not the first time a girl (or boy, for that matter) has checked him out at a moment when he really doesn’t have time to humor their interest, no matter how pretty they are themselves. he mutters a half-hearted ‘thanks’ to her compliment and fixes his eyes on the front of the line. taeyong assumes she’s handing him her number, so he almost ignores the business card entirely, but then he hears the word ‘audition’. what the fuck?
the woman hands him a card with apollo’s name stamped across it.
rather than be grateful, appreciative, anything that a younger taeyong might have been, the man is suspicious. he’s old, probably too old for any idol factory to want him, and she doesn’t even know if he can dance. or sing. or do anything mildly useful for one of those groups his sisters like so much.
“is this a scam?” he can’t help but blurt out, though he knows better than to expect a scammer to openly admit to their con. he supposes he can look online, verify the phone number, maybe even give it a call to find out. whether he’ll go to the audition or not.. well.. that’s up for discussion.
OOC: You’ve been scouted by APOLLO entertainment! If Taeyong chooses to participate in the audition, he will be requested through the phone call to prepare a 2 minute performance and must dance for the majority of the performance. The audition will be scheduled any time between October 30 (Wednesday) through November 5 (Tuesday) and will be held in front of APOLLO’s head coaches along with CEO Kwon Boa. After responding to this submit, you must write a 300+ word solo about the preparation and performance in front of the audition and tag it as #apollostreetscouting. Deadline to write the solo is next week TUESDAY (November 5) at the end of the day, midnight EST. Good luck!

— MISSING PERSONS
AND NOW FOR THE MAIN EVENT … with @lmheejin
“hey,” he grabs heejin’s arm, gently enough but still with every intent to get her attention. “have you seen taeeun? i thought she was with you.”
perhaps letting the kids run off by themselves wasn’t his best idea. it’s getting late and his younger sister was supposed to meet him and their siblings at the front gate ten minutes ago. he’s not worried just yet, he doesn’t imagine anything too bad has happened to her. but taeyong is a diligent big brother, so when he spotted heejin without his littler sister, he started to worry. she might just be held up in the haunted house, or catching the end of the last movie playing. he just didn’t expect her to be separated from her friends.
“can you try texting her? i think she ignores me just out of spite.” he grins, and turns to taewon, the next oldest after him. he asks her to keep an eye on taesuk, that they can wander around until he finds their missing sister as long as she keeps her phone on. maybe heejin will help him, and if not, he’ll just go on a solo search.

— THERE MAY BE WITCHES
AND NOW FOR THE MAIN EVENT … with @lmsooyoung
trinkets of the occult have never sat very kindly in taeyong’s eyes. sure, they’re pretty. he can’t deny the artistry that goes into hand painted tarot cards or the natural beauty of crystals of all sorts. but something he could never agree with was how practicers of the occult seem to prey on low income people, especially women. fortune tellers make promises of handsome men coming into one’s life, of suddenly coming into money, but all of their predictions are vague and with no succinct timeline.
he had an aunt once on his father’s side, a nervous woman who would funnel half of her paycheck to speak to supposed psychics on the phone. they charge by the minute, of course, and her funds were drained with nothing to show for it. her husband had left her, had taken taeyong’s cousins with him, and the woman now shows up at his parents’ apartment every other weekend telling his father everything that her psychic had promised her. it all has yet to actually occur.
“do you believe in any of this stuff?” he picks up a packet of herbs at one of the ‘magic’ booths at the festival, glancing at the woman next to him as he initiates idle conversation. taeyong has always been a generally friendly sort of guy. the herbs stink terribly, and he wrinkles his nose and notices the garlic on the label before quickly putting it back down. “as much fun as it would be to believe in magic.. i just don’t know. you’d think it’d cost less, but i guess witches are capitalists too.”
