Moon Ga-young X Yoo Yeon-seok, even a date with Jung Dong-jin due to continued coincidence

Yoo Yeon-seok and Moon Ga-young and continued coincidences overlapped.

Ha Sang-soo (Yoo Yeon-seok) and Ahn Soo-young (Moon Ga-young) met in a place that could have been the beginning of a relationship in the JTBC Wednesday/Thursday drama 'Understanding Love' (played by Lee Seo-hyun, Lee Hyun-jung, director Jo Young-min, production SLL) aired on the 18th. showed regret

Han Jung-im (Seo Jeong-yeon) went to Ha Sang-su's house and talked about Yoon Mi-sun (Yoon Yoo-seon). Earlier, Han Jeong-im learned from a conversation with Yoon Mi-sun, her regular customer, that her son and Yoon Mi-sun's daughter were dating. Then, he said, "So I want to know more about you," and asked, "How was your senior? I thought I would know better. Didn't you really date someone? Did you like it or flirt?" When Ahn Soo-young didn't answer, Park Mi-kyung said, "Well, what does that matter? I'm the one I like right now," and she pretended to be calm.

Jeong Jong-hyun knocked on Ahn Soo-young's room and asked, "Can I come in?" Jeong Jong-hyun, who entered Ahn Soo-young's room, apologized, saying, "I'm sorry. I'm such an ugly person." Then, he confessed her inner thoughts, "Still, I like Soo-young a lot. That's why she is here." Jeong Jong-hyun cautiously approached Ahn Soo-young and kissed her. The two made love, but when Jeong Jong-hyeon fell asleep, Ahn Soo-yeong came out of her room and drank her tea, lost in thought.

Ha Sang-soo asked Ahn Soo-young, "Would you like some coffee?", and Ahn Soo-young replied, "No." When Ha Sang-soo was taken aback, Ahn Soo-young replied, "Please change clothes and come out, please ride", making Ha Sang-su laugh. Ha Sang-soo, who came over to get her coffee, saw Ahn Soo-yeong researching her job transition and lent her her own book. At this time, Park Mi-kyung went to work, and Ha Sang-soo approached Park Mi-kyung. Park Mi-kyung asked, “Shall we have coffee?” and Ha Sang-soo answered, “Would you like a cup of coffee too?” and went to the bathroom. In response, Park Mi-kyung looked at Ahn Soo-young, who was drinking her coffee, and she fell into thought.

Jeong Jong-hyun, who failed the test, packed his things at Ahn Soo-young's house and came back in a few days. When Ahn Soo-young saw Jung Jong-hyun, he was angry, saying, "I haven't been able to contact you for several days." Jeong Jong-hyun evaded his answer, saying, "I wanted to cool my head." Ahn Soo-young found out that she was in the pc room while Jeong Jong-hyun left the house, and asked to talk. Jeong Jong-hyun said, "I failed the test. I didn't know how to say it." When Ahn Soo-yeong comforted her by saying, “I can see her better next time,” Jeong Jong-hyun got angry, saying, “I may not be able to see her more.”

Ahn Soo-young and Ha Sang-soo also failed the job transition test. So Kyung-pil (played by Moon Tae-yu) said, “The branch manager did that,” and guessed that the reason Ha Sang-soo failed was because he was angry with Ahn Soo-young.

So Kyung-pil said to Park Mi-kyung, who pretended not to be anxious about the relationship between Ahn Soo-young and Ha Sang-soo, "Thrilling? .

Noh Tae-pyeong (played by Lee Hwa-ryong) asked Sang-soo Ha and Soo-young Ahn to pay his condolences when he heard the news that a VIP customer had passed away. After the condolences, the two people on the return train talked about failing the exam. Ahn Soo-young asked, "I regret it. You fell because of me." Ha Sang-soo replied, “Of course I regret it.

Ha Sang-soo suggested to Ahn Soo-yeong that they get off at Jeongdongjin Station, and the two got off at Jeongdongjin and walked along the beach. To Ha Sang-soo, who revealed his heart subtly, Ahn Soo-young avoided the awkward situation by saying, "I think it's too late. Shall we stop?" While waiting for the train, Ha Sang-soo asked, “Are you happy?” Ahn Soo-young, who had no answer for a long time, said, “Shall we break up? With Jong-hyun.” Ha Sang-soo looked at Ahn Soo-young with sad eyes, frozen as it was.

Hey talk to me about your top three favourite kdrama women. What makes them special? What's a fic you would like to write about any one of them?

Mystery anon! :D What a lovely ask.

I’m going to cheat a bit and divide my answer into characters I loved a lot, but do not want to write fic about, because I think the canon gives me what I need; and characters that I loved a lot but NEED TO BE RESCUED ZOMG. (My fic writing impulses are 50% spite and 50% fix-it )

Caveat being that I’ve still watched only maybe a dozen kdramas, so I’m pretty limited in my knowledge!

Characters that I love a lot, but have very zero fic impulses toward:

Han Yeo-jin from Stranger/Secret Forest: What a delight! What an iconique character! Is there anyone like her? NO. LSY-nim gives us a delightfully complex character, and Bae Doona knocks it out of the park in every single scene, so I’m just happy to be along for the ride. I think what makes Yeo-jin special for me is the intrinsic place of empathy that she operates from. I think “righteous” is a word that often comes with negative connotations (self-righteous, for eg), but I do think she’s one of the most righteous-in-the-good-way characters I’ve watched in kdrama or any drama. I’m tired of stories that portray goodness as “boring” , as unworthy of narrative breadth or depth, and I love that Han Yeo-jin comes to us like a breath of fresh air in our particular dystopian narratives hellscape. She’s good, but never naive. She’s righteous but never cruel in her moral certainties. I think that LSY nim, in the second season especially, gave Yeo-jin the kind of arc that character deserved when she’s forced to really dig deep into herself to figure out how she’s going to live in the world in the face of a deeply cutting, deeply personal disillusionment, and I’m really hoping for an S3 to see how that plays out further.

Goo Hae-ryung from Rookie Historian: Ok, I will admit this may be rose tinted glasses view due to this show being my gateway drug into kdrama, but c’mon! She’s a reader! and a Thinker! And loves her wine! She’s plucky! She’s cute! She’s got a wry sense of humour! She’s got principles! She’s got a solid common sense to her that somehow doesn’t get in the way of her dreaming BIG! Oh dear, doesn’t she sound like the Mary-est of Mary Sues? Good for her.gif, I say! Anyways, Shin Se-kyung is unutterably charming in this (AS IN EVERY SHOW OMG GIRL) and I just have a huge fondness for free-spirited heroines who get to tramp through the narrative changing the world as they do!

Lee Ji-an from My Ahjussi: I’ve never had my heart broken more OR restored by any single character. IU is *phenomenal * in this, I think she really stepped up to what the script demanded from her. Ji-an’s weariness, her fear and vulnerability, her prickliness, her anger and her bitterness, and how, despite everything, she fights : GOD. Just. Again, what I love about the writing in this show is that it’s deeply empathetic without being cloyingly sentimental. I think a less, hmm, imaginative writer/PD might have focused on the Lee Ji-an the victim, and while the show definitely tells you in no uncertain terms that she is one, of both circumstances and a cruel society, I think it refuses to take away her agency over her own life.(Lee Ji-an when we meet her is too busy hanging onto life by tooth and claw to indulge in self-pity, but we also see the toll it takes on her not to be able to say “this is too heavy a burden for me to carry myself and it isn’t my fault”; the show I think approaches Dong-hoon from the opposite side- his emotional isolation is partly a result of his own choices, but he doesn’t see it yet, and so his journey is also about letting people in and sharing the burden, but also recovering his own agency over his life. It’s an interestingly gender-bent arc, which is one of the things I love about this show. )

Ok, can I please add one more?

Hwang Han-joo from Melo is my Nature: She just felt SO real to me. She’s someone who doesn’t have the spectacular brilliance of either Jin-joo or Eun-jung, and struggles with accepting her limitations but not allowing herself to be defeated by them? I love her struggles as a mother, as a working woman in a sexist industry, a woman who’s perhaps having to rethink and reimagine what she wants from romance. I love that she’s a little silly, a lot kind, and an optimist, and just. I just think she’s the bravest of the three, tbh, and I LOVE HER AND I WOULD WATCH A SPIN OFF ABOUT JUST HER (i shouldn’t have faves among the three i know, BUT I DO, IT’S HER, IT’S HER.)

Ok! On to the next section! And I’m going to cheat again because I can’t stop at three. SORRY. NOT SORRY.

Characters I love and SHOULD write fic for if I weren’t such a tired and lazy bunny:

Song Sa-hui from Rookie Historian: Oh, girl, girl, GIRL. I love how she fights to snatch her freedom from the jaws of the patriarchy. I love that she unapologetically centers herself while doing that, because she knows that nobody else will. I love that she’s prickly and calculating. I love that she’s smart and knowledgeable. I am SO HAPPY that she got to carve out a little bit of freedom for herself, even if it also is exile to some degree. She *should * be Emperor Jin’s Prime Minister and steering the ship of state, while also carrying on a tumultous affair with Queen Min Woo-hee, while ALSO commiserating with Emperor Jin about his boyfriend Historian Min Woo-won’s regrettable tendency towards Principles (TM) and masochism-but-not-in-the-fun-way. (This takes up much of his time which is why Song Sa-hui is running the country, of course. It works out well for all concerned, well, except her dad, of course.)

Song Ga-gyeong from Search:WWW: What’s NOT to love about our brilliant, beautiful, emotionally tortured gay icon? Nothing, absolutely nothing. I loved how the show allowed her to be flawed and make bad decisions, and then allowed her to make better decisions and regain control of her life. What I do need to do, of course, is see the CANON LOVE STORY between her and Cha Hyeon through to the end. It must, of course, include at least one baseball game, a lot of tequila and messy beach kisses.

Oh Ji-hwa from Beyond Evil: Oh boy, this year’s runaway hit cleared the extremely low bar for standard crime/ thriller shows by leaving more than one of its female characters breathing and with all limbs intact, and got called feminist for it BUT it didn’t do justice to any of them in any meaningful way and that never hurt more than in the way they sidelined Kim Shin-rok’s talent by not giving Oh Ji-hwa anything much to do. She’s a tough as nails cop, a loving sister, a devoted but unsentimental friend-and by rights SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE HEROINE OF THIS SHOW. My secret fic fantasy is to rewrite the show entirely by making her , and the two other female characters in non-antagonist roles- Yoo Jae-yi and Im Sun-nyeo- as the central characters, as they investigate a serial killer who targets women. It’s the only acceptable version of this done-to-death (ha!) genre, I have no idea what the Baeksang jury and tumblr fandom is smoking when they hype the show so much, I want none of it.

Jung Sun-ah from The Devil Judge: I love her rage, her spite, her passionate defense of women, her style, her sexiness, her rage, her rage, her brilliance, her tenaciousness, her smartness, her clothes, her refusal to hate herself for everything she is and chooses to be, her ambition, her comfort wielding power, her EVERYTHING. Dead, her? NOT IF I HAVE ANYTHING TO SAY ABOUT IT. Here’s what *really * happened at the end of canon- she gets out of the building by planting that lady-like but still deadly gun against Kang Yo-han’s temple and making him lead her through his own “secret escape route” or whatever the fuck it was the show wanted us to believe. From there on out, it’s all sunshine and beaches, and scheming and waiting for the right moment to strike again-though of course, this time around, she also has to reckon with vigilant, tenacious cop Soo-hyun -another character who REALLY didn’t die for manpain reasons and had the good sense to leave her gay best friend to follow his psychopath boyfriend to Switzerland or wherever it is that star crossed lovers in kdrama land meet up on the regs these days- anyways, Soo-hyun and her are in this catch-me-if-you-can epic transnational honest and cute cop-and-beautiful sexy villain chase and yes, they WILL kiss (and more) AND IT WILL BE GLORIOUS.

hey everyone! ummm this is peyton (also the mun of lee hyeon) taking a second shot at a second character — i have a lot of muse for this one, so i swear he’ll be around for a while… 🥵 this is ryu geon, yes his name rhymes with hyeon’s & no i do not care ♥️ he’s the lead guitarist/vocalist of meta and also the son of a former nobody rockstar, but i’ll get into all that below! like this post if you’d like for me to come into your ims to plot, click the read more for more info on geon, and/or click here to be taken to his pages: CAREER, DOSSIER, PINTEREST.

HISTORY.

born in autumn ‘97 to a “budding rockstar” (translation: “no yeah i swear our band’s really starting to take off, we sold twenty-three tickets to our last show!”) & a woman with commitment issues ♥️ geon’s dad always told him that his mom left because she had some dire matters that needed to be taken care of and SWORE that she cried the last time she held her dear baby boy, but all of his dad’s bandmates say that she was just some groupie and had to be persuaded into carrying her child to term… who can say for sure?

naturally, there are no pictures of this mystery woman. there was one (1) of her holding infant geon, but then he found out that that was actually a sound tech who worked for his dad’s band… and he just never corrected geon’s assumptions LOLLLL

anyway! he was always really close to his dad, considering they were a two-person family. he has a set of grandparents, an aunt and a couple cousins but they were never involved with geon’s life because his dad is the #blacksheep of the family. geon and his dad against the world, am i right?

uhhh geon was also kind of a black sheep growing up, but he didn’t really notice? he was a happy kid, very energetic and enthusiastic. a lot of adults in the area looked down on him & his dad, but he was SOOOO blind to it because his dad’s a god in his eyes and HE’S always been nice to everyone, so why would they not like him??? because his clothes smelled a little like dad’s cigarette smoke??? big deal

wasn’t troublesome (beyond talking too much), but a lot of people still expected bad things from him :/ “his father’s a dirtbag, i’ll be surprised if that boy doesn’t end up in jail by 20”, “he won’t amount to anything without a proper role model in his life”, “his dad is teaching him how to slack off”, “he won’t contribute anything to society”, etc. he kindaaa picked up on this as he got older but pretended not to because it was more rewarding to play dumb and keep being a good kid(tm) to prove them wrong

was basically a mini version of his dad. same style, similar features, birthmarks in the same places, same “live today, die tomorrow” approach in life, same affinity for singing & playing rock music. ummm he loved his dad a lot. a lot. a lot. wanted to make him proud SO BAD, started his first band when he was 15 and they sucked so bad but his dad was their biggest fan… you know how it is. a lot of people misunderstood him, but he was a very good guy and such a great parent

TW DEATH unfortunately he passed away just shy of geon’s 18th birthday and your boy still hasn’t forgiven the world for taking his dad when he was in the middle of his angsty teen phase — had he known that their time together was dwindling, he would’ve been so so so much better to him END TW

his dad’s band actually rocketed into the charts after he passed & suddenly they were getting loads of publicity, lots of “what a shame that he went under-appreciated” which pissed geon off SOOOO bad because why couldn’t they have had that energy when he was still alive? he’s still mad about it five/six years later

this is getting kinda long, so uhhh tl;dr, he ended up staying with the drummer of his dad’s band until he was old enough to live alone/READY to live alone, but he changed quite a bit. was really going through it, quit his band, stopped putting effort into school. barely graduated. went from being a social butterfly spending every weekend at a gig or with friends to spending all of his time on a pc or in front of a tv, playing console games. the internet comforted him when nobody else would/could and then he met the future members of meta <33333333 #newbeginnings

present day geon is still struggling, has to go to counseling bi-weekly but he’s coming back out of his shell! he wants to fall in love with life again, just wants to tread carefully... outgoing & will talk to absolutely anyone, but he still spends most of his time alone. hard to reach by text, so if you wanna talk to him, you better call/facetime LMAO. talks a mile a minute, especially if you get him going abt something he really likes. laughs a lot, smiles a lot, more habitual than actual signs of happiness but yk. ummm he has a really loud voice, mostly controlled nowadays but he still gets carried away sometimes. an absolute menace during long drives/flights, sorry meta.

funny but only when he’s in large groups. feeds off of other peoples’ energy, really good at reading a room and breaking the ice/making everyone comfortable, but if you meet him 1-on-1, none of his jokes land quite the same.

i envision him as being the kind of guy who carries himself in such a way that you’d assume he’s really popular/out of reach/maybe even full of himself, but he’s... not like that... at all... in fact, he’s kinda irritating when you get to know him. the personification of a flood followed by a drought and vice versa, always either too much or not enough. gets used/ghosted/dropped/dumped/whatever a lot because he’s soooo fun in the moment (if he isn’t in his feelings), but draining long-term.

really emotionally intelligent, in touch with his feelings in a way that a lot of people never thought he would be (probably thanks to counseling tbh). he’s very very rarely the type of person who will make you wonder what your place in his life is — he’s communicative, kind, honest. ummm he thinks that intimacy between friends needs to be more common, so he’s really affectionate with the people in his life. type of guy to tell you he loves you every chance he gets (calling you when he’s drunk, sounding like a clingy ex type beat) & greet you/depart with a hug. losing his dad kinda fucked him up in the way that he won’t leave/hang up until his friends say “i love you” back, gets kinda (re: very) upset if he’s denied that and/or a hug.

TRIVIA.

has been playing the guitar “longer than he’s been walking” (not really, but he swears it’s true).

uhhh he really likes nail art, but he’s kinda hesitant in what he tries? mainly sticks to black polish (or other plain colors), but sometimes he’ll get little designs added in as well. mainly does it himself because he still doesn’t feel comfortable in salons... if his work looks bad, leave him alone <3 he’s trying

inspired by people like kurt cobain, nicky wire, yungblud, billie joe armstrong & damiano david in the fact that he’s not against wearing dresses or skirts on stage. doesn’t do it ALL the time, but often enough that it doesn’t go unnoticed. some people say that he does it for attention because he doesn’t dress like that elsewhere and tbh they’re probably kinda right

interested in history (only SOME... dinosaurs, ancient civilizations, specialized areas like the history of circuses/clowns/skateboarding/punk, stuff like that yk), stand-up comedy & documentaries. could spend a whole day watching documentaries and would say he had fun, has a lot of useless knowledge that nobody gives a fuck about and is kinda dumb when it comes to things that matter

when it comes to music, he prefers playing really fast and heavy rock or punk over anything else, but he actually listens to a lot more soft indie on his own time... he’s too tense these days to be listening to anything else RIPPP

the vibe: homemade tie-dye, ripped slipknot t-shirts, frosted tips, neon crocs with alien & peace-sign charms, chipped black nail polish, calloused hands, cheesy pick-up lines used NOT to land a date but to pull a smile, driving until he’s lost, stupid socks paired with pressed suits, dramatic poetry in an iphone note, etc.

PLOT IDEAS.

people he met through online support groups about coping with grief

uhhh an on & off relationship that’s been going for who-knows-how-long. the reason for this is up for discussion, but i imagine that he hasn’t given up yet because the constant highs and lows are a good source of inspo 🤪 artists must suffer for their art!

opposite side of the coin — someone he’s interested in, but he’s NOT disloyal so it’s a pattern of persistent courting when he’s single vs intense friend-zoning when he’s not and they’re getting tired of trying to figure out what he wants from them

someone else who likes nail art & can convince him that NOBODY cares if he goes to a salon

someone (probably female but doesn’t really matter tbh) who feels like his feminism is entirely performative… maybe they attack him directly for it or maybe they just REALLY don’t like him and they’re super vague about it idk. either way, please tell him that activism is much more than recommending one female artist a year and saying “clothes have no gender 🤪” so he can be praised for the bare minimum (his heart is in the right place but his skull is empty)

someone super introverted who comes out of their shell with geon! uhhh maybe they think that he’s the one doing them a favor, but in reality spending time with them has been doing wonders for his mental health

other people who like to skate. let’s congregate at the local skatepark and scare the middle schoolers away

someone who inspires him musically, for whatever reason. lots of late nights in studios, idly strumming his guitar and writing lyrics that definitely aren’t about how their eyes look in these dim lights… umm maybe he thinks he has a crush on them but really doesn’t and ends up hurting them eventually, maybe he really DOES have a crush but will (probably) never do anything abt it or maybe it’s entirely platonic and he just admires them a ridiculous amount

someone who likes to make music as a hobby, prob won’t publish/release any of it but it’s fun to imagine. spontaneous meetings with geon in the middle of the night, recording songs together and keeping the WORST takes for the laughs. there’s probably a diss-track of them going in on each other floating around somewhere even though geon can’t rap for shit

night owls who keep him company on the phone, even if they can’t be there physically. them talking really quietly vs geon shouting at them while he plays games LMAO

gaming buddies. come over, maybe you can carry geon through his game of the week or you can both fail but have fun while you’re at it… or you can scream while he fends off that hoard of zombies behind you

i’m typing this at the last minute (literally) so i’m gonna stop here, but i will get a proper plots page put up asap with a wider variety of connections!!! but as always, please do let me know if you have any other ideas. i’m always happy to plot and write with you all 🌚

I am ince again asking the fans to leave istg. Nooooooo of coourse they're not sasaengs how do you dare to say that!!!!!! Can they just fuck off honestly

The whole hotel scenes were fun tho apart from that, like i love those kinda hiding scenes they are so hilarious. Accidental touches my beloved as well something about them just yeah. I think those scenes here really serve as some kind of turning point for ryeoc? Like noticing that 'oh i kinda like her more than i should huh' and even tho the cause of that scenario wasn't great the outcome was nice.

As you said last time, yujin really does start to feel kind of off? Like it's subtle but smth isn't quite right i think.

We got a lot of Shax content this episode huh? Getting to know their dynamic is nice as well. And hyuk immediately going to the fans does kinda feel like a jongho thing haha. Also blue hair dude (omfg i forgot his name) going 'you don't have any friends beside us' was just funny. Also yeah hyuk kick his ass and get him to fucking do smth.

Sparkelingdoes kind of feel off as a whole group? The only like really friendly interaction we've seen are the ones between san and seonghwa yk? It's really weird. Also umagine working your ass off for three years without any pay💀

I'm really happy for tea party that they all get like solo opportunities? It's what they deserve (also where can we get those yujin shoots👀) Also that meeting with the gans was so cute uwu

Well maha and ryeoc have each others numbers now and he is at her dorm (the fucking stairs istg haha) so this is gonna get interesting i think^^

I still don't like the NOG Ceo but at least his manager is nice, i like their dynamic.

I also love the small backstories in the end, they are very interesting.

Apparently Eunjo and the girl that died dated???? What???? The backstory is expandingggggg. Also who was that guy in the café? I'm so bad at faces, do we know this man? And i'm not sure what to think of that reporter that appeared in the beginning.

this episode has my emotions all over the place pls i might just explode

the fans have to seriously chill... i mean it's really nice that they're on good terms with the idols, but they're taking it too far with the whole "protection" thing... the manager calling them out and saying they're just like the stalker fans tho i laughed

ALL THE HOTEL SHENANIGANS JUST GOT ME SCREAMING AHHHHH!!! i'm starting to ship them (sorry yujin) but at the same time, i agree that this is a turning point for Ryoc! (how do we even spell his name??) but ahhh it was so fun watching him fall for her >:)))

the way Maha is the only one who can make him smile :') ahh i hate romance why am i shipping them

yujin tho! MODEL. AHHH. but i'm kinda wondering the whole yujin/hyunji plot now... it's obvious she likes him but idkkk she's just so sweet and i know she's gonna be crushed like i wanna protect her :(( but at the same time i think they'd be cute together? if yujin paid her more attention at least...

yes!! SHAX's dynamic is so cute~ i'm glad we get to see them more as a group :)) Hyuk is easily one of my favourite characters... it's like they just told Jongho to be himself aksfgdjf 😅😅 the part where Ryoc was brushing his teeth and then laughed to himself and the cut to Hyuk just judging him was hilarious i loved it so much <3

3RD SWALLA STAGE

Before you all shout at me, they’re third i my ranking because like i day by day stage, i personally felt like their stage didn’t pop. They were all good at dancing but imo they may have suffered from a lack of a clear concept? Like i really don’t know because at certain parts of the performance some of them were smiling (like a fun concept) and some of them were trying to pull off the im chic im cool kinda look so it messed with my brain about what they were trying to do but yes i do love their team work and general dance but i think mnet cut out quite a bit of their performance there’s like almost a whole minute difference between this stage and finesse so that could be another issue there.

And I don’t mean to be mean but i laughed when tae sung appeared on top of hyeon su at the end like that looked really funny for some reason idk why.

2ND FINESSE STAGE

Kim Si Hun has experience of choegraphing a dance and it tells, i enjoy the dance and how they moved as a team and that “ ow “ part where they act like cats was really well placed. Also i love these outfits.

2ND ATTENTION STAGE

I think this was just one of the stages that didn’t pop either like there wasn’t anything particularly wow or amazing about the stage to me. But i do feel based on what was shown in the episodes the fact that they even delivered a more or less complete performance is a feat in itself so I think they did well in that. Maybe it was the arrangement of the song as well since idk i might have gotten abit distracted by those like “dum dum dum” before certain lines they added to the dramatic effect but im not sure if it added to the performance.

1ST TURTLE SHIP STAGE

This was a good performance and lets just say Jin Hyuk not only carried he

Startled at your sudden appearance in the doorframe, Jimin looks up at you questioningly. „Y/N!? You’re up.“ „Apparently“, you retort, your tone more strident than you’d intended, while you quickly change from your pajamas into a comfortable shirt. Jimin, his cheeks turning a light pink in the view of your almost bare chest, which is only covered by a white lace bra, swiftly averts his gaze. However, the nervous looks you repeatedly throw back over your shoulder towards your bedroom don’t go unnoticed by him. „Y/N, what is it? What happened in there?“ „Nothing“, you lie, finally buttoning your jeans. As soon as you’re fully dressed you take Jimin’s hand into yours, pulling him towards the exit. „Let’s go. I have to get out of here.“ Baffled, he follows you, having trouble to keep up with your quick pace as you hurry down the stairs. „But, Y/N, that’s your apartment. Why are you the one leaving?“ „Well, he clearly wasn’t, was he?“ „Namjoon!? Did you guys fight? Did he hurt you?“ You don’t even look back at him, simply keep going, gritting your teeth to keep them from chattering with anger and unshed tears. „Y/N!? Is he the reason you were in this state earlier? Did he do that to you? What did he do, anyway?“ Finally reaching the sidewalk, you let go of Jimin’s hand and turn around to face him. „I don’t wanna talk about it, okay!? You said you wouldn't pry. So, please, at least you, keep your word. Can you do that?“ Jimin swallows hard, nodding his head reluctantly, his expression unusually serious, right in this moment the look of his soft features appearing more mature than ever. „Thank you, Jimin. Instantly, you push back this shameful thought crossing your mind for the first time ever since you had decided to choose Namjoon over Jimin three years ago. No. Impossible. You can’t have made the wrong choice. Not after having hurt Jimin like you did in the course of making it, being so utterly sure of doing the right thing. No. Whatever happened since then and however the current events may turn out, you made the right choice. And you and Jimin always were, and still are, only friends, nothing more. Simply very close, intimate friends, able to count on each other, to trust each other and be there for each other even in situations like this. There’s nothing more to it. Right?

⌠ BACKGROUND ⌡

so starting with her parents, where all stories begin, let’s just preface by saying these were awful people. they ran in similar circles during school, a very bad one at that, & fell in love after sharing a joint. in their high daze they saw what their mind was conjuring but not the truth about one another. but for them, it had been enough. thus, their story began. it was a very rocky road but they managed to stay together regardless. the bond they had created blossomed as they partook in illegal activities such as petty theft, vandalism, & it slowly evolved into larger problems.

after hyeon’s mother, named jung eunbi, stole from her parents for the last time she was kicked out into the street with her boyfriend ( who had also been kicked out ) with no place to go. both dropped out of high school as it wasn’t their “””scene””” & took to the dirty streets of busan trying to turn tricks. they’d do anything they could to get some money to feed their addictions. in the midst of their scrambling for what they deemed as important, they never thought to buy protection. so one fateful night after a good steal, they made love on a dingy couch high as a kite & eunbi got pregnant.

she hid the pregnancy for as long as she could from her boyfriend, he only noticed when there was a rather apparent bump under her baggy clothing. with the weight of the realization they might have to force themselves to become a real family, the couple got hitched & attempted to find real jobs. in some miracle, they managed to find a house to live in & eventually “raise” their child in.

hyeon was born on the 8th of june, on a dark morning with clouds hanging ove the sky & rain starting to pour. she was premature as her mother did drugs during the pregnancy ( which was really no shocker ) & almost was pronounced a still born before they heard the tiny being crying & gasping for air. her parents had assumed that once she was born, they’d feel that parental love that everyone claimed to have but it never came. they stayed in the hospital a total of two days & hardly let their newborn get the help she needed before they hauled ass out of there.

the first 3 years of hyeon’s life were better than expected, her parents at least tried to take care of her but once she was able to do everything on her own they left her be to pursue their own happiness. honestly think of matilda but a lot more severe ok

she would often get locked in a closet while there were parties held & her parents were too strung out to remember their child. she could spend days in there before she was released. this was only the beginning.

at 8 years old, her father lost his job ( her mother stayed at home ) due to a random drug test & he of course failed. this triggered her parents to panic as they no longer could supply themselves with their so desired highs. so after a night of scheming, they came up with a plan so sinister not even the devil himself would agree.

random men & women began to arrive to their dingy home as hyeon would be ushered into quiet rooms with them where they would pay to do whatever they pleased with the young girl. this went on for 2 years before hyeon was pulled into the principals office at school with questions about where those bruises on her came from. her mom was picked up for possession & this prompted the police to raid their home to find many illegal substances throughout the place as well as evidence of abuse towards the child.

soon after her parents were placed in prison, hyeon was shipped off to seoul to the biggest orphanage in the country. there she stayed for 4 more years. the time there was quiet, nobody asked her about where she came from & she never spoke about it. in truth, she never knew how to as she was a blank mind essentially.

luckily when she was 15, after a long & strenuous search, hyeon’s grandparents found her & adopted her into their home in daegu. they were absolutely appalled at this shell of a girl, but could only blame her trauma on their own children. it was here that hyeon was loved for the first time in her life ( & possibly the only time ) & taught how to feel something besids fear. she was still horribly inept at processing emotions or showing them.

two years spent with them & one night as hyeon & her grandfather were sat at the family piano, playing & singing a song as her grandmother recorded them in secret. that same video was sent to an entertainment company without hyeon’s knowledge but was thoroughly surprised & equally as excited when she was recruited. only a measly year in training with her 2 group members before they debuted & they were suddenly the biggest gg in sk.

the group debuted under the name of PTL, hyeon’s stagename was now Tink as she accompanied her members in the ride of a lifetime. they were extremely popular with their girl crush yet enticing vocals with miss tink as the main vocalist & maknae. even so successful as to have a world tour ! the group had their differences, hyeon being the medium for them as the other girls were rather opposing forces. often she was put in the middle of their arguing only to run away when conflict came up. during this time she would write & compose her own songs, bringing a heavy soul feeling to the group with her powerhouse vocals.

with all this being said ( which was a LOT ), there is still more. a year after debut while the group was climbing in popularity, hyeon began receiving texts from an unknown number. she soon found out that the people behind the mask were her parents, somehow having managed to be released from prison & found their new mission in life was to harass their daughter. on an october night, after an argument went down within the dorms between hyeon’s two members, the youngest set out by herself to meet those who hurt her for dinner.

as expected, it went horribly. at this point in her life, she was extremely impressionable, & witnessed how her eonnie handled things which was with a liquor bottle in hand. so, like an idiot, she went to a club by herself to get fucked up. while sitting at the bar, a random man drugged her drink & took hyeon home with him. the night was a blur but when the young woman woke up she felt familiar bruises & a blanket of rage took over. the man was still passed out next to her.

so as she slipped out of his bed & found the nearest blunt object, hyeon managed to bash his skull in. she blacked out after that only to come to with clean hands & far away from the corpse. this was the reactant to lead her to go blind in rage & come to with blood on her hands. soon enough, she took a liking to the feeling & became two people within one while somehow managing to remain anonymous as a killer ran rampant.

earlier this year, after too much shit going on within the group, ptl disbanded & all went their own ways. which hyeon appreciated. the people she had once called her sisters had become like strangers & only cared about themselves, didn’t have the time to look after their maknae.

to say that her already pre - existing depression & anxiety sky rocketed would be an understatement. she left music for a while, deciding to stream on twitch & youtube as a gamer. it made her happy for a short time but has been planning on returning to music with hints of a solo debut soon that has fans excited.

edit: i forgot to put this in here originally IGJFDKL but she moved to jeju after her group disbanded for a new start. plus, her address somehow got leaked so she uprooted all her shit & left for the secluded island.

Chicago Typewriter Review: The Hope of being with you guys Again Someday

Wow… I am left speechless… I just watched the last episode of Chicago Typewriter and I am left with such a warm feeling inside. I experienced so many emotions within those 50 minutes: sadness, anger, fear, happiness, and hope. This is an overall review of the series, since I haven’t reviewed each episode individually.

The plot of this series was simply AMAZING and GENIUS. Personally, I love historical setting dramas, especially stories with historic significance…. and Chicago Typewriter combined both the modern and historical aspect beautifully with a touch of supernatural magic. The historical setting was placed during the 1930s when Korea was under Japanese rule… but what made this drama enticing were the elements of reincarnation and time-traveling by flashbacks. This drama did well to use both of these elements to highlight important events and progress the plot. Not only do we get the historic story of the main characters, but we also get to see the struggles of the main characters’ present lives and how their decisions/actions compared to their past selves. At first, I was worried about the drama because it started out quite slow in terms of character development and progression of the plot, as well as, the modern story was beginning to be overshadowed by the historic story. At one point, I became so heavily invested into the historic story that I almost didn’t care about their modern lives. On the other hand, wonderfully, they brought our attention back to the present by Se Ju’s exceptionally well-crafted character development and the teaming up of the main characters to write ‘Chicago Typewriter.’ Definitely, the strongest aspect of this drama was the plot/story-telling… I cannot emphasize how simply amazing the plot is. At first, we were made to think the moral of the story was for Se Ju to overcome his writing slump and ultimately finish writing ‘Chicago Typewriter’ with Yoo Jin Oh (Shin Yool); however, that was not the case.

Let’s take a step back and understand why this drama is called, “Chicago Typewriter.” Literally, one can interpret the title to symbolize the typewriter itself and the submachine gun… but in a deeper context… I believe the title represents the dreams and the promise between Se Ju (Hwi Young), Yoo Jin Oh (Shin Yool), and Seol (Soo Hyun) and this can be described by Hwi Young’s letter he gave to Shin Yool in episode 16. Physically, the typewriter is an empty object with no significant meaning. We learn that the typewriter was bought by Shin Yool as a gift to Hwi Young… and later this typewriter became the source of the resistance fighters’ communication. Soo Hyun also compared the submachine gun and the typewriter to each other. She quoted that the pen is mightier than the sword… thus explaining how significant the written word (communication) is the most essential aspect to obtain independence for their country, other than killing/violence. However, notice how important both the presence of the typewriter and the submachine gun were throughout the drama. Especially how the Chicago Typewriter gun was used by both Hwi Young and Soo Hyun in the last two episodes… In the end, Hwi Young sent his prized possession, the typewriter, to Shin Yool and replaced it with the gun - thus symbolizing how he was putting down his pen and accepted his death. As for Soo Hyun, she used the Chicago Typewriter gun to kill the Japanese officials because that is the only thing she can do for her country… she made a statement by taking revenge through extermination.

Now in the present, Se Ju was in a slump because his writing “caused” his stalker to kill himself and, thus, him losing confidence in his skills. However, the return of the typewriter not only brought him to meet Seol and Jin Oh, but he was also able to regain his confidence in his writing through trust and friendship. Combined with all the experience the typewriter has gone through, one could say that the typewriter symbolizes time and fate… by bringing the main characters together and tying up the loose end of their story. However, the greatest impact for me was how Shin Yool sealed himself in the typewriter so that he could keep his promise to Hwi Young. After he finished writing the story… his existence was basically over. But, what touched me the most was that Se Ju wrote a new story… the story of their present day lives… so that Shin Yool could seal himself in that story to be reborn one day. Truly, this drama showed how powerful the written word and communication is in our daily lives… and that it can both kill and save. This lesson was not only seen through the main characters’ struggles, but also by Tae Min who struggled to take responsibility for his actions, their mother who held a grudge against Se Ju, their father who failed to protect both of his sons, and Seol’s mother who abandoned her daughter because she couldn’t face her past actions.

The plot and the lessons weren’t the only amazing aspects of this drama. The character development was also well done… especially Se Ju. Personally, I think there was a lot of focus on Se Ju, that many of the other characters didn’t receive the same spot-light. Se Ju changed from a cold, haughty, and lonely person to loving, forgiving, and understanding. He changed his outlook on life to appreciating it and valuing friendship, love, and faith. But, I also think that Se Ju was always that person to begin with… however, he just locked his true self away due to his troubled childhood and the betrayal of his family. I must also say that Hwi Young was an amazing character who exemplified what it meant to be a true leader… cunning, brave, strong, and steel-hearted when it came to making clear-cut decisions. I loved how very different Hwi Young and Shin Yool were… and how one could distinguish between the two’s leadership. Hands down, Yoo Ah In stole the show with his masterful acting as Se Ju/Hwi Young (who didn’t cry when Shin Yool was reading Hwi Young’s letter? I freakin balled like a baby cause it was the most heart-felt letter I’ve ever read along with Shin Yool’s crying, Hwi Young’s narration, and the music in the background T___T).

Hey Shin Yool, are you alive? Are you reading this letter now? I was cleaning up before leaving for Manchuria and decided to send my three most precious things to you to keep for me. By chance, do you remember the ay we first saw this typewriter? Actually, I didn’t mean it when I said my pen was plenty at that time. I was bluffing. After receiving that gift of the typewriter from you, I was so happy. I’ve received so much from you, so much so that I can’t repay you in this lifetime. Now at the point of that I might not see you alive again and I am sorry because these are the only tings I can give you. And on top of that, I can’t even give it to you for free. I need to attach a favor. Will you be able to handle it? Can you? I’m hoping you will finish my novel for me. With this typewriter you gifted to me. Please write our story in my place now. The story of us living on this land at that time. How we lived diligently in the dark reality. How we hurt fiercely and hoped in desperation. How we found happiness within the danger. How we loved and fought with all our might. As for the pocket watch, I am giving it to you for wishing you to cherish Soo Hyeon every minute and every second. So that Soo Hyeon will never be alone again, you stay by her side. And lastly, Yool… just how much I trusted you and loved our friendship, I regret that I didn’t tell you in person. So let’s make sure we meet again alive. No, let’s meet again even in our death.

If a god asks me if I was happy in this life, I’ll answer. I was happy because I met you guys. If a god tells me, “Good job living a hard life.” “You lived it well.” And pat my shoulder, then I’ll ask for a favor. If I am to born again, I’ll ask to be with you guys again.

Jeon Seol’s (and Soo Hyun) character was very lovable and I loved how she remained true to herself in both the present and past lives, but I also loved how she showed times of weakness to indicate that, despite her amazing skills in various fields, she is human. Im Soo Jung did a great job to capture Seol’s liveliness and her strong determination. I really loved that Soo Hyun finished the job of exterminating the traitors (especially Heo Young Min), as well as, it was truly admirable when she killed Shin Yool… but it also showed that she had no purpose to continue on living because she was exhausted and lost everyone she loved… in the end despite killing all the traitors with her gun, she ended up losing herself in the process. Overall, the acting done in this drama was absolutely great! You could feel each characters’ thoughts, emotions, and understand their reasoning for their actions/decisions. You could feel their fears and how each character was on the edge of their sanity… just barely trying to survive. You honestly couldn’t really hate a single character, even if they betrayed their comrades (except for Heo Young Min… that bastard had to die). As for Shin Yool, I loved him so much! Poor sunshine loved Soo Hyun so much that he ended up betraying Hwi Young… but he couldn’t handle the guilt and didn’t stay with Soo Hyun in the end because of his friendship. I really loved his character… you can see how he slowly opened his heart to Se Ju and Seol… the actor, Go Kyung Pyo, did an amazing job to showcase such an emotional character. That was the biggest difference between Shin Yool and Hwi Young… Shin Yool just couldn’t contain his emotions and let his feelings get the best of him — which was why his bluff as being the leader didn’t trick Heo Young Min.

I also have to admit that, despite the romantic touch in the drama, the romance wasn’t really the focus of the series. Se Ju and Seol’s romance was very sweet and I enjoyed every moment they had together, however, the most touching aspect of the relationships in this drama wasn’t the romance… but the aspect of trust. Seol’s character, along with Yoo Jin Oh, brought trust back into Se Ju’s life. At first, we thought that Seol was Se Ju’s muse… but the most surprising muse in Se Ju’s life was Yoo Jin Oh because he was the one who brought the two together in the first place. We were made to believe that Seol was Se Ju’s muse to regain his trust in his writing ability, but actually it was both Seol and Jin Oh who helped him. And the best scene to show how Se Ju’s writing evolved from writing for others to writing for himself, was when he told Ji Seok that he wanted to write ‘Chicago Typewriter’ his way and not how the fans want it. At this point, Se Ju had already defeated his slump. Friendship and trust were the most important elements in this drama and it can be seen by 1) how Hwi Young and Shin Wool both loved Soo Hyun but didn’t force her to choose someone, 2) Shin Wool kept his promise of letting her go because of his promise, 3) Shin Wool didn’t get together with Soo Hyun in the end, despite Hwi Young asking him to take care of her, because he felt guilty for Hwi Young’s death, and 4) both Hwi Young and Soo Hyun had already forgiven Shin Wool. Especially, the last scene truly symbolized how strong the bonds of friendship can be with both Se Ju and Seol wishing for Shin Wool’s rebirth… and later on we see that Shin Wool was finally able to reunite with Hwi Young and Soo Hyun. Most importantly, the ending showed how the past was finally put to rest with meeting the present (notice how Hwi Young said, “Done.” when he finished typing his story… I think this symbolizes that the story of ‘Chicago Typewriter’ was finally over)… with how the typewriter, the gold watch, the story ‘Chicago Typewriter,’ and the picture were shot together in the last scene.

This drama may not be perfect and sometimes you may feel that the drama is slow, but please give it a try (especially if you’re interested in this era). Honestly, this drama deserves way more recognition and it saddens me that it didn’t receive higher ratings… this drama did well to showcase some of the real struggles during the 1930s, as well as, the struggles that writers face. The storyline, the characters, the music, the cinematography/visuals, and the supernatural touch all makes this drama very unique and intriguing to watch. Remember when I said how I felt a warm feeling inside after watching this drama? The reason being is because each character had a closure but the ending wasn’t absolute. Se Ju’s career is back on track and he is happy with his writing. Seol is finally with the man she loves, while also providing him strength and support. Shin Wool finally reunited with his old friends and, as well as, he can look to the future to meet with them in a liberated Korea (indicated by how his image became visible in the picture). The story of the Independence fighters that the typewriter brought to the main characters may have ended with episode 16, but a new story also began… and I believe that is the moral of the story. With every closed book, comes a new chapter to be written of an entirely new book because even after when we think it is the end… the written words and hopes of those before continue to live on through you and others. The story of “Chicago Typewriter” continues through us, the viewers. Just as Korea’s liberation did not end with the death of their comrades, but lived on through the hopes they wrote to the future generation.

If you’re looking for a drama that combines elements of romance, friendship, and the suspense of real-life struggles, then this drama is perfect... as you will truly witness the growth of each of the characters as they unravel their past lives and make amends to long-kept promises/dreams. Regardless, you’ll definitely be in for a roller-coaster ride of feels T____T

I low-key wish we could have seen Shin Yool/Yoo Jin Oh being reborn and reuniting with Se Ju and Seol in the future….

Characters: 10/10

Cinematography: 8.5/10

Music: 7.5/10 (maybe just a little more variety would have been nice, but the music is definitely catchy and pleasing to listen to)

The breakup felt so idk emotionless? Like both were trying so hard to be like 'it's fine :))))))))) don't worry :)))))' it wasn't nice. Also the interactions between them after were very much with the same mood ugh

I really hated the tensions between tea party i'm glad they resolved that. I mean it's clear not all will go perfectly but man do i hate seeing tensions.

The collab with Sparkling was so cite tho? Maybe a bit awkward, especially between Hyunji and yujin lmao. Also it's missing san with pink hair hours. THAT CONGFESSION THO??????? Like first i was like 'good for him for apologising' and then that??? Was kinda a surprise for me really idk how to feel about it from yujin's side. Also a date~ yujin looked so good as well~

Also we finally got updates on the eunjo storyline wahoo^^ I didn't even connect the fact that the disappearance and the suicide were so close together O.O Also i get eunjo so much i too would drop everything in that situation. Also I really appreciate the growth of the manager it's so nice to see^^

Again for tea party: I love that they all get to do the things they want to and bring them forwards individually as well as the whole group^^

The amount of hate i have for Hyeon-o (thr sparkling leader) is growing and growing fr, every new scene just makes it worse honestly. Also he got what he deserved, at least a bit now with the whole having to stay low lmao.

Next week the show, I'm so excitedddddddd like it was obvious everyone was gonna participate but hell yeah minsu content^^
