interesting to note here that when aragorn does this:

it's not necessarily just a random gesture of affection but may be implied to be a specific gesture of farewell used in gondor, at least based on what we're told when faramir says goodbye to sam and frodo later:

("after the manner of his people")

which would imply that aragorn is actually deliberately saying goodbye to boromir as he dies in a specific way that would be familiar & culturally appropriate to him

How old were you when you read/watched LOTR for the first time? lmao oh man there’s lore here. so when I was like 8 at the end of 3rd grade (skipped a grade so I was a Baby) I finished all my work early and got to just read in class, and I decided “you know what sounds like a bit of fun end of year reading? The Hobbit!” — I was. Wrong. I saw the movies sometime in middle school but didn’t pick up the books until probably sophomore year of high school?? literally just bc of that bad experience w/ the Hobbit lmao. (having finally read the Hobbit, I am now neutral towards the book)

Favourite lotr character? *gestures wildly at my url* it’s Boromir. used to undeniably be Merry and Pippin but now I have matured and it is. just.

Books or films? seconding the stance of both. They both have different qualities + are incredibly moving pieces of art!! I absolutely think it’s worth experiencing both anyways + am a firm believer in actually reading the books if you’ve only ever seen the movies, but like.. a lot of the things ppl have problems with abt the movies I don’t really care about?? they’re movies. they gave Faramir an arc that *mirrors Boromir’s* and keeps tension for the audience, etc etc. exposing myself as a movie!Faramir defender ig

I'm Éowyn from LOTR and looking for basically anyone, but especially Faramir, Merry, Éomer and Théoden. (Also Boromir, if there's one out there that survived and we interacted ig? idk, things went differently from canon for me at least). Basically anyone I might have come across, I'm looking for you, lmao.

I think things were largely closer to the books than the movies, though I am pretty sure that it was me who saw Théoden die at Pelennor like in the movie and not Merry the way things play out in book!ROTK.

Also I think I might have snuck around as Dernhelm before that point in canon or I might have used that disguise after? Not sure, but I do think I got more mileage out of that disguise.

I'm a little uncomfortable with doubles but I won't not interact with any I might come across, if that makes sense. Really, I'm down to talk to any LOTR kins or anyone from the legendarium in general, even if we don't share a canon.

I do remember more that I won't go into here, just because it can get into some potentially triggering stuff but yea.

Hey, you mentioned in your post about Pipping hitting on Arwen that Aragorn can read minds - was that a joke or is it something from the text?

a bit of both ig?

basically:

1) denethor & faramir MIGHT be able to read minds. both have them have some kind of special ability that allows them to read people’s thoughts, feelings etc, but whether they can literally read minds or are just exceptionally good at reading people is left ambiguous.

2) this ability is suggested to be a result of them having ‘the blood of westernesse’ ie being part numenorean

3) Aragorn is like, full-blooded numenorean so if Denethor and Faramir have psychic powers he presumably does too. (Denethor is directly said to resemble Aragorn a lot)

4) there’s a part where Aragorn does... SOMETHING to the mouth of sauron which is implied to be some kind of psychic attack. or maybe he’s just that intimidating. we just don’t know

conclusion: you can definitely make a textually supported argument that aragorn is psychic
