The evening had drawn on in the usual way of these all too frequent professional dinners. There was talk of alliances, political dealings, who had started a war with who else, and if you happened to end up in the wrong corner of the rooms there was talk of exotic (to be polite) women.

All in all, Y/N was wishing for it never to happen again, unfortunately they knew that holding these dinners, sometimes aboard the Enterprise and sometimes attending them elsewhere, was all part of keeping the peace.

But damn, was keeping the peace boring as hell when it wasn’t down right disturbing. There were certain people that Y/N remembered from other business soirees, people that they knew better than to interact with more than mandatory formalities at the door.

The only thing that seemed to set this event apart from the rest was dancing, after dinner was served there was a ball room reserved for the guests to dance in. As Kirk guided Y/N into the ball room for the only part of the evening they had truly been interested in, they looked around the dimly lit room with a live band playing an odd kind of music that Y/N wasn’t familiar with.

Apparently Jim was rather well versed in this music, “Oh this one’s good for dancing to,” He whispered to Y/N and pulled them further into the room. When they got to the middle of the floor Kirk gave them a twirl and smiled at the way the movement worked down Y/N’s body, the first time this evening that they looked as though they were really enjoying themselves.

“Maybe we could just do this for the rest of the night?” Y/N asked softly as they wrapped their arms around Jim to continue dancing.

“Mmm, maybe,” Jim thought out loud, “But then again we do have to sleep sometime, and we do have to get back-” He was cut off as Y/N put a finger to his lips.

‘Shhh’ they mimed, “No more, just us and the music,” Y/N looked at Kirk with a mischievous smile.

Jim smiled and shook his head good naturedly, “You win this one, love,” Kirk said and kissed Y/N softly on the cheek before twirling them again.

If Star Trek Discovery were to be resurrected and given its much-deserved 6th and 7th seasons, here’s what I would like to see. Mind you, everything from season 5 and the Coda is staying.

Episode Ideas:

1. Horror. I want a horror episode. Context is for Kings incorporated some horror elements, which is one of the reasons it's one of my favorite episodes. But we haven't had horror since and I want it back. I'm thinking either a psychological horror or a cosmic horror.

2. An ER-style episode. I really want an episode centered around sickbay so that we can center Dr. Culber and Dr. Pollard.

3. An ode to Blaxploitation films. This will require a Black director (I'm thinking Cheo Hodari Coker. On the original post, someone mentioned having Olatunde direct it. He can. I just know Cheo was the showrunner for Luke Cage, which had Blaxploitation elements, so I figured he would do a really good job on incorporating it) and Brandon Schultz (one of Disco's writers) to take the lead. I've had this idea for a while. I want it to be a "What if DSC came out in the 70s". So 70s hairstyles, make-up, costumes, music, even redesigning the bridge to have a 70s look. Even adjust the theme music to a Funk or Cosmic Jazz version of itself. All the Black characters rocking afros. Imagine Capt Burnham in the captain's seat with an afro or Cleveland Booker on his John Shaft vibe. 

Stamets and Rayner rocking pork chops. Detmer in go-go boots. The story would still tie into the overall season plot, but more loosely. This is purely for fun. After all, the show is nicknamed DISCO.

5. Owo/Detmer episode where they are the A plot line. Maybe we can find out what happened on the Mirror-verse Enterprise they took back to HQ, and tie it into the S6 plot.

6. The Return of Mama Burnham. I love her relationship with Michael. I'd like to see their relationship deepen. I'm thinking maybe an episode where Michael calls on her mom for a science issue. Dr. Burnham is a scientist and inventor, so this would give her a chance to step away from the Qowat Milat and just be Dr. Gabrielle Burnham.  A mother/daughter science mission. Also, I'd like to establish where specifically they're from on earth. I've been assuming the United States, but it would be nice to establish which city/state.

7. A Book and Rayner episode. We're going to address the portion of the fandom that runs behind Rayner to undermine/villianize our Black leads, Michael and/or Book. So, in this episode, Book and Rayner end up on a mission/assignment where they have to work together, thus developing a mutual respect for each other. (They don't have to be friends, just a mutual respect, more so on Rayner's side). Book was raised by hunters, and Book stated Rayner fights like a hunter, so it's a Hunter’s Escapade! Saru will be overseeing the mission.

Character Arcs

Captain Burnham. Basically, just have her keep being the phenomenal Captain she is. I would like to see her promote someone, a solo promotion. We’ve seen the crew get promotions as a group, but I would like to see an individual get a promotion from her. Also, I want to see Captain Burnham encounter the Klingons. I understand why DSC has pretty much avoided the Klingons since going to the 32nd century, but it would make a great full-circle moment for Michael. And to raise the emotional stakes, have Mama Burnham aboard.

Tilly. Since she's at Starfleet Academy, the best we could hope for is cameos. Same with Jett Reno.

Adira. I'd like to see them stepping up more with taking the lead on assignments. I like their growth over S4/S5, and I'd like to see them become more confident and more assertive.

Culber. His spiritual awakening was my favorite character arc of season 5, and I'd love to see more of his and Dr. Pollard's hologram therapy idea.

Stamets. I felt like his arc got lost in S5. His trying to redefine his legacy really intrigued me, and I wish we got more of it. So, for S6, I'd really like to see this be fleshed out much more. We need to learn more about the pathway drive. The show started with the spore drive being groundbreaking and central to the USS Discovery. This needs to be a bigger plot point or something.

Saru. Doug Jones said in an interview that he would have returned for all 10 episodes of S6 had it happened. Therefore, I'd like to see more of Ambassador Saru and how his and T’rina’s marriage affects Ni'var politics.

Book. Since we know Michael and Book are together forever, I want to see Book return to couriering, and like Kasidy Yates, I want to see him become a freighter captain, which means the return of the Tallawah (Book’s ship)! Then, I want to see him helping with reinstating the Endangered Species Act as something like a contractor for Starfleet. This way, he still has his freedom and full autonomy and is still doing his conservationist work, but with the backing of the Federation now.

Rayner. If they're giving him Burnham's arc, on a fast track (of which I have opinions but that’s not for here), then by the end of S6 give him the choice of regaining his captaincy or joining Starfleet Academy. That opens the XO position again, and I really want to see Rhys become the official new XO for S7.

It would be her mother, Doreen and supported by her father, that would suggest she grow up to be a nurse. The Carter family would set Linda on a course of caring for highly for her academics so that she could start on that path early.

It was with the arrival of her baby brother, Tag, that Linda understood she had a duty as a big sister and take care of him. Years later, Tag would admit that his older sister took more care of him than either parents did (and that is not say that the Carters didn't love their children and raise them well).

What better way to ensure that you understood what happened with your brother and his surgery, than to dedicate your life to studying that so it wouldn't be so scary for yourself and maybe help others not find it scary other?

Her brother Tag would greatly encourage this and push her to go live her life helping others across the universe.

I have a Star Trek verse where Sandy, after being kicked out of the Underwood, was smuggled aboard a cargo vessel and somehow ended up either in DS9 or ending up on the Enterprise. What is a narcissist?

What characterizes a narcissist? I've encountered this term frequently, not because my friends or colleagues have applied it to me, but rather due to my older sister's frequent use of it. She appears to believe that I fit this description. To diagnose someone with Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD), five out of the nine criteria from the DSM-IV-TR are necessary. Some of the traits associated with NPD include a heightened sense of self-importance, preoccupation with fantasies of power, wealth, success, and love, a constant need for admiration, a belief in one's uniqueness, a lack of empathy, arrogance, entitlement, a preference for associating only with important or special individuals, and a tendency to exploit others for personal gain.

It's crucial to distinguish between narcissism and narcissistic personality disorder. Narcissism refers to certain exhibited traits in a person, where they don't meet enough criteria to be categorized as having NPD.

Allow me to elaborate on the fact that most of us possess elements of personality disorders to some degree. For instance, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is one of the most commonly discussed ones. Each of us experiences varying levels of OCD tendencies. Similarly, anxiety and periods of depression are universal; the key lies in the extent to which these disorders disrupt our daily functioning.

This principle applies to both narcissism and NPD. Celebrating our achievements occasionally and taking pride in reaching goals are healthy behaviors. There's no issue with that. Therefore, if someone labels you as a narcissist or suggests you have OCD, don't be overly concerned. More often than not, they might be projecting their own emotions onto you. Give them space to express themselves, and eventually, the genuine truth will emerge.

Examples and Anecdotes: Imagine a coworker who consistently seeks praise for their achievements and often downplays the accomplishments of others. While this behavior might seem narcissistic, it doesn't necessarily meet the criteria for NPD. DS9: (default when undefined) Susuro is working on Deep Space Nine, amidst the rest of the show's crew. He assists Dr. Bashir in the infirmary and often works with Jadzia in other scientific endeavors.

TNG: Susuro works aboard the Enterprise-D, usually alongside Dr. Crusher but occasionally in other areas considering his areas of scientific study.

Lower Decks: Susuro is a lower-decker on the Cerritos! If RPing with one of the main squad as an ensign, he will also be an ensign.

Your Ship/Station: If your muse has a home ship or station, we can put Susuro there if you want!

Starfleet Academy: In this verse, Susuro is a student at the academy. (Location variable)

Civilian: in this verse, Susuro did not get the opportunity for a recommendation to Starfleet. He had tried to find work using his secondary education on Ambystar but couldn't. He returned to his usual service sector for a while but after a rough few years he decided to leave. (for good? for vacation? he's not sure, but he's a bit disillusioned with his home planet and needs some space).

It's a small, menial task and she's around, came to check in now if he had finished up with his work yet. The tyrakhean had only just finished up with her own work, a little sweaty but not enough so that, she was going to stop to shower before gathering up for meal time.

She remains mute as Figg speaks, having been use to the barrage of words from classes at the Academy. Figg can take up all the space for speaking, that was fine with her and follows him. ❝ This is no problem, we were fellow cadets. ❞ By that logic alone along with grander lessons of Starfleet, of course she would help out. Jaylah does, somewhat, share in his enthusiasm, not perhaps for the same reasons or shown as outwrdly but she was glad to finally be on a starship again.

WORK, ship work to be precise. ❝ You finish here and it's dinner. ❞ A pause before she clarifies why she was here. ❝ For both of us. ❞ Figg's from the same class as she was, and though she never admit nerves; having someone familiar from the last few years would be appreciated.

It wasn’t always Maria’s dream to head into space, she probably would have been content to stay on Earth and open a cafe, or become an English Teacher. Her professors at school thought teaching or cafe work a waste and so began encouraging Maria to explore the possibility of attending Starfleet Academy. All that matters is there’s enough room for ingredients, and his current concern, utensils. He’s rummaging through the cupboards for mixing bowls and spoons when he speaks up.

Okay there have GOT to be THOUSANDS of completely unhinged bullshit conspiracy theories out there in the Star Trek verse regarding WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED to the starship Discovery.

You've got a MASSIVE experimental science ship with HUNDREDS of crew aboard temporarily under the command of Christopher Pike, who is considered like the GREATEST captain in Starfleet history, oh and MOTHERFUCKING SPOCK was there too!

And one day, as soon as Pike and Spock transfer back to the Enterprise, the ship just... disappears. It's reported destroyed with all hands lost and anybody who says anything about the ship receives an immediate promotion to civilian.

NOT TO MENTION that this was the ship that ENDED the Klingon war! You can't just disappear something that historically significant!

So one MUST assume that there's all sorts of nonsense out there. Maybe, like Voq, the Pike and Spock sent back to the Enterprise were ACTUALLY KLINGON INFILTRATORS SET TO DESTROY THE FEDERATION FROM WITHIN and DISCOVERY was DESTROYED because they FOUND OUT

And of course when discovery arrives in the 3180's it's crew find all these conspiracy theories, have a good chuckle over them, and completely demolish hundreds of subspace message boards when they reveal that the TRUTH is way more completely fucking bonkers than any of the conspiracy theories.

Life is What You Make of It - Canon-Divergent Verse

There were several distinct differences between the Titan and the Enterprise. The Titan was a smaller ship, with more limited extracurricular opportunities, such as only one holodeck and a lack of a parallel for Ten Forward. Though he was now first officer, which typically warranted a larger living space, a 'perk of the job', the reduced size of the ship had resulted in quarters which were more cramped than those on the Enterprise. However, all of this was immaterial; the most significant difference to him was that, of his friends aboard the Enterprise, only Riker and Deanna had also been assigned here. He had initially labeled the experience as 'homesickness' but was reconsidering a reassessment of this conclusion. Perhaps a better description of the experience would be 'loneliness'.

However, he did not intend to allow this experience, irregardless of which he concluded it to be, to interfere with his new duties. Today, that included greeting the new crew as they were beamed aboard and, as Captain Riker had put it, 'getting to know the new faces'. While he had visual records of each member of the crew, rendering that unnecessary, he understood the true sentiment.

He consulted his internal files - he had objected to the assignment of this next ensign, given her less than ideal record, but he had been overruled on that decision and therefore greeted her just the same as any other crew member. "Ensign Pardalis," he said, "Welcome aboard the Titan."
