Comes as a shock and he initially assumes it's a joke. But the serious look in your eyes spoke volumes, not that he was prepared for that. How hopeful that expression looked, bright stars nearly forming in your eyes at the mere idea of him returning your affections.

Tomioka eyed you from his spot next to the tree, sheathing his nichirin blade. You stood there shifting on the balls of your feet as you awaited his response. Rosy cheeks, steady breathes escaping from your pink lips. The panic hiding beneath your features was fairly obvious. It was almost cute. Nonetheless, you deserved a proper answer.

Tomioka is rather skeptical with his response, nearly flooding your heart with a fear of rejection. "I love you too." Although his words remained in their same monotonous pitch they were serious. "Hurry back, we've been out too long." He murmurs, his shoulder brushing your own. But the small twitch of his lips didn't go unnoticed as you eagerly follow him back to the temple.

Rengoku Kyojuro 煉獄杏寿郎——🔥

Cheery from the start. Smiling from ear to ear with his arms securely wrapped around you. Rengoku pulled back from you, cupping your face in his large hands as he soaks in your flustered expression. The rise of temperature should serve as more than an explanation for his emotions.

Someone to come home to after a long day, to patch up his wounds if he needs it. A kind person to encourage him at his lowest as he lifts them to their highest. Someone to gush over and dote on as the moon reaches its peak. A new form of happiness; another fire to tame. That's what love is to him.

Kyojuro would waste no time, yelling, "I love you too!" At the top of his lungs, surely the whole estate could hear him at that rate. The embarrassment is enough to make you hide away in his haori, tensing at his hearty laughter. Man, it felt good to be loved!

Shinobu Kocho 胡蝶しのぶ——🦋

Shocked for no more than a second, already aware of her response. She's rather good at concealing her feelings or downplaying them. To hear you boldly state Shinobu can agree that your embarrassment is adorable, thus she cannot help but tease you!

Wonders what will come of your bond; how close should she hold onto you? Questioning if she'll lose you like she's lost the others, her sister. If giving in to the noisy thoughts in her head is the safest idea. Internally vowing to protect you with her life, even if you don't truly need it.

Pulls you close, stroking your hair lovingly with a wide grin on her face. "I love you too~!" She whispers, pressing a long kiss to your cheek, her grasp on you not faltering one bit. "My my your heart is beating quite loud!"

It was likely a normal evening for the two of you. Him daydreaming as you gently pulled his dark hair into whatever design your heart desired. Stares at you with a hint of curiosity as even he knew that those words were shared between family or lovers; Muichiro obviously not classifying as the first one.

Rather confused about your statement since he doesn't truly understand the concept of love. But a little description should do you some good. "How does it feel to love me, {Name}?" A genuine question it is, the only explanation he Muichiro needs to pinpoint the foreign emotions stirring in his chest.

"Hm, I love you too," He murmurs, pondering the beating inside his heart. The feeling as though his heart was hammering against his rib cage. The strong need to hold you close, to touch you. That was enough. "A lot, I love you a lot."

Uzui Tengen 宇髄 天元——🔊

He's well aware of your feelings, yet he simply could not get over the sight of you saying such a thing. Lightly tinged cheeks, eyes squeezed painfully tight, hands gripping at the fabric of your kimono, your chest heaving out shaky breaths as you stood in front of him. “How flamboyant!”

The man has three wives! You must be a catch if you're willing to put up with such a thing. Excited is an understatement of his feelings towards those three words. If anything the man is itching to hear them again, but this time he won't allow you to look away.

"I love you too my dear! Now when shall we wed?" But that's assuming you aren't already married. His reaction may come as a shock but hopefully, you expected nothing less. After what he had witnessed he only wishes to have such a sight to himself. No man should be graced with something so adorable, no man is deserving of such; except him that is.

Shinazugawa Sanemi 不死川 実弥——🌬

Only one thing crosses his mind once you say those words, "Shit." Why such colorful language you may wonder, though it's because you've caught him off guard my dear. His sword lying loosely at his side, eyes staring holes into your own. As though he was searching for some sort of lie in your own words.

Considers this an indirect devotion. This is sealing your bond, your relationship. In a way, it's as if declaring, "I'm yours!" That he can now let free any foul emotion boiling in his chest. All the jealousy, no longer hiding his lovesick gazes. Simply giving into his pesky feelings, letting his guarded act fall to his feet.

Finally succumbs to his heart and murmurs, "Tch, I love you too." Resting his hand on your head, avoiding your gaze. But I'm sure the drumming of his heart will reach your ears, revealing how much he truly does. The gods know he won't allow anyone else to hear you say such a thing.

Obanai Iguro 伊黒小芭内——🐍

Red to the tip of his ears. What a bold statement, one that he surely wasn't ready for. You frown at his delayed reaction, clutching his hands and declaring it once more, "I love you!" Only increasing the harsh pink engulfing his pale face.

These are things only lovers say to each other. Therefore are you now a couple? His head is flooded with all sorts of questions. As well as warm thoughts of you holding his hands, much like right now. Gently brushing your thumbs over his pale knuckles, whispering words of affiliation in his ears.

"I...I love you too..." Don't take his hesitation as a sign of not reciprocating. You move his bangs from his forehead, placing a sweet kiss on his ghostly skin. At this rate there must be steam coming out of his ears; deary must you tease him so much? "Pl...Please don't do that." Any more affection out of you and he may just pass out!

If you hadn't known him you would have thought you upset him. But it's simply the opposite. Tears of joy streamed down his face, a very prominent pink engulfing his cheeks. The confidence you have to confess so abruptly it's shameful, oh so shameful.

Love had never been something on his mind or something he's had time for therefore It was a surprise indeed. Gyomei is a gentle giant, kind behind his strong appearance. Confessions are very scarce for him. For that he can't help but feel as though he's finally won by having someone so lovely confess to him.

"I love you too my dear!" He essentially shouts, clasping your hands in his much bigger ones. His explosive reaction may or may not be too much for you but cut him some slack; he's happy! Nevertheless, the most he'll do is kiss the back of your hand like the gentleman he is. Not wanting to overwhelm you too much after your little confession.

Mitsuri Kanroji 甘露寺蜜璃——❤

She is the love Hashira thus she's without a doubt thrilled. Practically leaping with joy at your confession, wishing no more than to hug you into an eternal embrace!

Mitsuri knew this day would come but waiting for it deemed itself quite the challenge. Hiding behind not-so-subtle compliments or gentle touches when she got the chance. As exhausting as it was, seeing you happy made it worth it. Just being near you was worth it all.

After memrise reviews worked through, read an article on NHK, then read through all of the tutor sheet below again which was nice speaking and reading practice, no more problems think we have been quite thorough with getting all those found out and worked on and what not this week. 静岡抹茶を使用した菓子・製造を行う「ななや」から、“冷やして食べる”青い夏のチョコレート「青い三胡椒」が、5月9日に発売される。一風変わった“冷やして食べる”、夏にぴったりのこのチョコレートは、落雁を思わせるラフグラインドチョコタイプのざらざらした食感が新感覚。きび砂糖を使用した上品でやさしい甘味に、天然塩と赤、白、黒の3種の胡椒のスパイシーな香味がアクセントに。ブルーベリーの4倍のアントシアニンが含まれていると言われている、タイで人気のハーブティー“バタフライピー（蝶豆花）”も素材に使用。お茶屋の「ななや」ならではの風味をぜひ体感して。冷蔵庫で冷やして保管し、常温に戻る少し前の冷たさに戻った頃に食べるのがおすすめだ。「青い三胡椒」は、「ななや」の藤枝店、静岡店、青山店、京都三条店とネットショップ、茶専門小売店などにて順次販売される。

7月15日（水）まで、フェリシモで予約を受け付けている「ケルノン ダルドワーズ ジェラート」。「ケルノン ダルドワーズ」は、フランス西部・ロワール地方の街、アンジェの老舗ショコラトリー「ラ・プティ・マルキーズ」の名物チョコレート。2015年のバレンタインシーズンに、1万人以上をうならせたといいます。

このジェラートには1粒約200円もする青色チョコを約400円分も使用。刻んで飴がけしたアーモンドやヘーゼルナッツのサクサク感、ジェラートに入っているホワイトチョコのミルキーさが、さらにおいしさを引き立てているとのことです。価格は1セット8個入り6000円（税込）。発送予定は8月中～下旬。

Overview

When she falls into the river one rainy day and starts drowning, her strong will to live draws a mysterious You named Shirogane to the drowning girl (I prefer the original word You (妖) as the English translation “monster” gives a slightly different image than most “monsters” in East Asian stories..sometimes they’re a little more similar to fairies...) .

For reasons best known to Shirogane, he decides to resurrect her with a forbidden spell. Sumi wakes to find that she was no longer human but not quite a You (妖). Now in the world of the You, she takes on a new name, Kochou ( 胡蝶) and starts her new life there, working in Shirogane’s shop, selling dreams to the You (妖) who cannot dream.

Characters

Kochou / Sumi

A sweet, kind-hearted girl, Sumi hides a painful past that forms the root of her need to feel needed by someone. She takes her new life in the world of the You (妖) in her stride and does her best to be useful to the people around her, especially Shirogane, who saved her and helps her with her new life.

Shirogane

The You (妖) who saved Sumi for unknown reasons is a man of few words and possesses the ability to enter humans’ dreams and take them.  You (妖) are unable to dream, so he runs a shop that sells these dreams to the You (妖) who wish to see it. He has a seemingly cold and careless demeanor but his kind actions are understood by those close to him, especially Sumi.

Saku

A fox You (妖), Saku seems to know Shirogane quite well and seems to be a a fairly powerful one like his friend. A cheerful guy in contrast to his friend, he is a doctor of sorts that sells medicine in his shop. Saku often helps Sumi out and teaches her about this world. He too, has his own story, for no one lives that long without going through painful experiences.

Sasane and Miyuki

The crane siblings first meet Sumi when Shirogane takes her to their shop to get new clothes as her human clothes stood out too much. Elder brother Sasame is straight-laced and hostile to Sumi for he hates humans. His sister Miyuki on the other hand, becomes fast friends with Sumi.

Why I like this manga

As usual, I was drawn in by the beautiful art (artwork is a bit of a pre-requisite in most of what I read, call me superficial :P). Befitting of a story that revolves around Japanese You (妖) and dreams, the aesthetics are beautiful, and the colours are soothing.

The story actually feels like a mash of Natsume no yuujincho and Kamisama hajimemashita. Kochou no yumeji focuses on the stories around each character every few chapters, and the end of each story pushes the main story forward in a meaningful and logical way, very much like Natsume. There is a lot of emotion in the stories that aren’t just about romance. 

The main story is certainly about Sumi and Shirogane and in this respect it is a little similar to Kamisama (though the focus on romance is far lesser in Kochou in my opinion). The larger back story to why Shirogane saved Sumi, why the spell was forbidden and what it means for Sumi’s future. Also why did Sumi feel the intense need to be needed? These are story questions that are slowly being answered.

This is a manga that’s not especially fast-moving but it is emotional, beautiful and the romance is a bit of a slow burn in a good way. 

Kochou no yumeji is available to read for FREE (with minor conditions) in both the original Japanese and Chinese. The Japanese version is available at Comico (http://www.comico.jp/articleList.nhn?titleNo=1383）. Quite a number of chapters are free and available to read on PC, however, subsequent chapters are paid and can only be read using the comico app (available on ios or android). The good news is that you get 1 free rental ticket for each title on Comico every 24 hours and can use that to “rent” a chapter for 8 days so you could technically still read everything for free.

Just a few chapters behind is the Chinese translation available on the comico Taiwan app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=tw.comico or https://itunes.apple.com/tw/app/mian-fei-man-hua-comico-mei/id892368006?l=zh&mt=8). At the moment, all chapters of all comics in the Taiwan app are FREE to read, though I suppose they could change to the Japanese paid model at any time. But anyway, FREE for now!

Both apps have got really good titles available; I plan to introduce more soon :P

              mitsuri was always up to something simply to see the smiles of others. not to say shinobu wasn’t capable of doing the same, but she preferred to show kindness through her words instead of gifts since she didn’t have that special creative charm that her friend possessed. she had to admit she was a little jealous, but she wasn’t going to admit that since she knew that mitsuri wouldn’t let her live it down, even when they got old and passed on from this world.

             it was a beautiful creation, and it made her heartbeat slightly faster than usual just by looking at it. to be given something specifically made for her made the girl emotional, and all she could muster was to bashfully utter her sincere thanks, with her cheeks turning pink.

                 shinobu tries her best to avoid sleeping since she knows what it entails ; the same horrid dream of her parents dying in front of her, or on particularly horrifying nights, her sister’s dying, bloodied corpse resting in her arms, blaming her younger sister for her all of the sufferings they’d been through. sometimes she gives in to slumber, unable to keep her eyes open for much longer, which leads to embarrassing situations like this in the middle of the night.

     shinobu didn’t have an issue with being touched. she’s not the most affectionate of people, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t capable of showing it through head pats and making cups of tea. she didn’t mind being touched. so why did it bother her now?

       she knows why. it was a demon touching her. it made her stomach do a thousand flips, her heart torn between accepting yukako’s offer and pushing her away with disgust. she’s fully aware that yukako being a demon wasn’t her fault--she didn’t ask for this fate, she didn’t ask to replace her craving for human food with human blood, she didn’t ask to lose her parents to begin with--life was just so unfair to yukako, and any normal person would accept her despite her changes. 

         but the truth was shinobu wasn’t a normal person. she never did well with change. shouldn’t she give it a try at least, for kanae’s sake?

        and so she does. she sits painfully still as if someone had instructed her not to move, extends her arm as a silent way of giving her permission.
