I couldn't stop thinking about VAL listening to Shrue's radio speech when she confronts Carson, and wondering just how many times she listened back to that recording while waiting for him. Did it bring her some comfort, to listen to someone else's last words as she waited to speak her own? Did she feel a little less alone, keeping company with another ghost that hasn't realised it's already dead?

the grey’s doctors were FREAKS LMFAOO bc there is not space to be doing all that in the on call rooms…. honestly yuuta is probably too busy to even try anything with you in the hospital 90% of the time… he’s either in surgery or buried in the research library or falling asleep standing up 😭 sometimes you two pass each other in an empty stairwell and have time for a kiss or two, but never more than that (also because yuuta has very little self-restraint when it comes to you… if he allowed himself more than that, then it would be much harder to stop…) 

sometimes the two of you will fall asleep in the same on call room. yuuta will page you there and by the time you arrive he’s already half asleep, it’s probably his only nap in the last 24 hours, so you do your best not to wake wake him when you cuddle up next to him. you get a few hours of bliss in his arms before his pager is waking the both of you up, and he’s got to scurry downstairs to the peds floor and in his hurry he doesn’t realize he’s snagged your lab coat instead of his own, and it’s only when he’s haphazardly slipped it on and the arms are too short and the shoulders are too tight that he figures it out. it’s too late by then, because gojo is the attending on this case which means he doesn’t miss anything, which means he’s the first to giggle and tease, poking at your name embroidered above the breast pocket, “oh? i didn’t know the two of you got married already! oh and you took her last name, how noble, yuuta!~”

“Elain actually wants Azriel! They already have strong feelings for each other!”

Okay. So now what? Their book starts with them already on the verge of falling in love (ridiculous lol) and to deal with this they do…what? If Feyre learned that they love each other, she would never be okay with Rhys forbidding them from being together. It would take a single conversation between Feyre and Rhys to clear this up. And sjm has repeatedly let us know that Lucien is more courtier than warrior. There would be no blood duel. Also, as Rhys said, it’s illegal in his lands, and Elriels are adamant that Elain WILL NOT leave the Night Court, so they’d be protected by that law.

But say Azriel ignores Rhys’s order, and Lucien invokes the blood duel and Rhys allows it to happen. We are told Azriel would destroy Lucien with “little effort.” So now Lucien’s dead…and apparently Elain is fine with this. Does Beron declare war on the Night Court? And is Eris no longer their ally, even though we’ve yet to see them truly working together? Beron is already an enemy, so we don’t need that extra reason for him to fight against the NC. Vassa and Jurian would turn on the IC but they have no forces to command right now, so not sure what they could really do about it. Does the Spring Court remain desolate indefinitely because there’s no one left to care about it? I’m genuinely trying to wrap my head around how this could play out but I’m struggling to see it.

Say they do decide to sneak around for a bit until Elain and Lucien “mutually” reject the bond. What happens then? The scene with Cassian and Eris at the very end of ACOSF told us what to expect for the next book:

“Koschei remains in play, and Beron might very well be stupid enough to establish an alliance with him, too.”

Beron and Koschei. How does Elriel play into that? Elain has visions of Koschei, so she could fit into this plot line. But is Azriel more connected to Beron and Koschei than Lucien? Lucien has a connection to Vassa, who is enslaved by Koschei’s curse. And all of Prythian still believes Beron to be Lucien’s father. Plus, there’s Eris’s plot to overthrow Beron. We learned that Lucien and Eris are on speaking terms again. Sjm has left several hints that Eris cares for Lucien and has secretly protected him. So there’s potential for a reconciliation between them. But I fail to see how Azriel fits into this story in an interesting way, aside from being useful in a fight. Will Elain and Azriel take on Koschei and Beron while Lucien happily assists them?

Say they’ve defeated Koschei and Beron, Elain and Azriel are happy, Lucien is still tied to Elain but ultimately they are fine to go their separate ways. What’s the next book about? Vassa and Lucien falling in love? She’d be free from her curse by then, and we know she desperately wants to return to her people. Or maybe this happens in the “Elriel book” as well. So if Azriel and Elain’s story is concluded, AND Lucien’s story is tied up, what’s next? A full length novel about Emerie and Mor?

I’m just not seeing it. Are you?

Sean and Lisbeth both shedding their own blood on sacred ground as a sacrifice to keep Daniel (Lisbeth giving herself a bloody nose to elicit Daniel's sympathy and Sean letting Nicholas beat the shit out of him to prove his devotion). Sean not choosing to bleed for daniel the last time, but choosing it now as a sign of loyalty and faith in his brother, despite his insistence on not viewing Daniel as divine. the way the church they're in is supposed to center around a faith where the divine child is the one offering up body and blood, but Daniel, without ever deliberately choosing to, follows the rules of older-younger gods whose attention is best grabbed by blood sacrifices.

how this echoes all the way back to Esteban's murder being the blood sacrifice triggering Daniel's power and the cops at the border getting sacrificed for his and Sean's freedom in the literal blood brothers ending. lis2 is all about america as altar and Daniel Diaz is supposed to be just one more of the uncountable young/brown/neurodivergent children sacrificed atop it every day, but instead he's the red-mouthed starving wolf pup being fed dripping offerings from the people he loves and hates and fears until he thinks he might choke.

bi!Luche Reveal AU: Where the identity of Luche's father comes out when Luche is in Medical post-battle - rare blood type or something, perhaps? - except Regis can't do a damn thing because Luche's Medical Proxy is down as Tredd Furia. (Who is. Surprised, because /he/ had no idea that Luche trusted him like that.) (Bonus: Up to you if Luche is severely injured, Wandering, or a mixture thereof.)

There isn't much that surprises Tredd. He's seen his home fall, he's seen daemons the size of houses. He's fought and bled for the people who let his home rot and he only regrets some of it.

There isn't a lot that surprises Tredd - the fact he's Luche Lazarus' medical proxy is very surprising. Tredd isn't sure what happened - he isn't sure why Luche was going undercover when she's well known as the Commander of the Kingsglaive but what he does know is that Luche was pale and bloodied with frost slowly covering her body the last time Tredd burst into her room - and had to be escorted out by Sonitus and Pelna - and that he can't stand waiting to see if she's survived.

If he didn't-

No. That doesn't bear thinking about. Luche will live. She has to live.

So Tredd waits. He waits and waits and then the King comes and Tredd has to be polite when all he wants to do is rip Regis' head off. An unjustified reaction, Tredd knows that, but he has to blame someone for Luche getting hurt and who better than the King that commands them?

"Your Majesty." Tredd doesn't care that his voice is cold, he doesn't care that he world around them seems ready to burst into flames. "What can I do for you?"

"You're Lady Lazarus' medical proxy-"

"Commander," Tredd corrects.

"Commander then," Regis acknowledges with some emotion shifting in his eyes, "Do you know her father?"

"No one does, what does it matter?"

"Her blood type is - rare enough it's cause for concern. What of her mother?"

Tredd shrugs.

"She doesn't speak of her family?"

"Why would she?" Tredd challenges, "They've done nothing for her. Her mother went mad and died - that's the most any of us know about her past."

Silence and then:

"It doesn't bother you?"

"Why should it? She's here now isn't she? And if she had gone before we met - I wouldn't even know something was missing."

VOX ARRIVED a little early, present just before the doors had opened. he liked to be anywhere early as much as he could, for most things. this event, of course, would be no exception — in fact, was much more important to arrive within reason for. a wonderful opportunity to network with those in attendance, && even more so a good chance to to rub elbows with the hostess in a way that he was most familiar with.

without a head on his shoulders, his magic was part of the very mask he was meant to wear instead, only grateful that it appeared not to cause any issues. he would feel odd, later, when he put his head back on, but for now, he started up the steps && approached, a singular deep red rose in hand that he offered up to her once he located the lovely hostess herself.

Working my way through some Silt Verses reference sheets, part 1!

I have notes on the pages (transcribed in the alt text) but I’ll throw some bonus thoughts beneath the cut:

First image: The first drawing is basically what I imagine her wearing for most of season one, and probably for most of her life with the Parish. Something that's practical to walk through marshes in and can keep out the rain. The long coat is also good for concealing a revolver. I included the steel toed boots because I love the bit in the season 1 qna where they talk about whether she had a goth phase when she was younger, and then decide that she got a good pair of steel toed boot and kicked people in the shins with them.

The other two were largely because I have been convinced by my friend that she would wear skirts, at least occasionally. I don't think she wears skirts often, but they'd definitely make for good disguise, so I thought it might be a good episode 2 fit. However, if I remember right, episode 2 and episode 4 take place on the same day, so it needed to be an outfit that could become a little more practical for walking through the woods in, and wouldn't get her killed when she burns down the church. Hence the Victorian biking skirt-inspired design! The skirt can easily transition into pants, and the poncho is easy enough to take off so you don't have to deal with any loose clothing.

Second image: The s1 finale look was taken from clothes I'd already drawn her in that made sense to wear while walking through a flooded town. No loose clothing, and sturdy enough to last a walk through a lot of mud.

The clothes she got from Acantha are lighter in color, because Acantha is described as wearing white, which I always find cool. Big fan of the fact that it's healers and Acantha who are described as wearing white. I didn't necessarily get it across very well, but I do imagine that the clothes are a little ill-fitting on her. The backpack with the corpse could probably stand to be a little bigger as well, but hopefully he's a good bit desiccated and can fit nicely.

Third image: I probably could have put her in the same clothes as she had been wearing for the Siege of the Gulch, but I figured she would've been wearing those clothes for a while and would've taken the opportunity to change. Also maybe it would've helped some newcomers trust her more? I don't really know. I did come up with a few symbolic thoughts while drawing the first one, mainly that her color palette would be darker when she was doing stuff directly related to the Parish, to contrast the lighter colors she wore with Acantha. I also decided that she tended to wear her hair down with the Parish so she could hide her face better and avoid people a bit easier (or at least feel less vulnerable. I know I at least feel more exposed when I tie my hair back). So when she goes back to the Gulch, she has a moment where she almost takes it down again, and then decides against it because she's trying to distance herself from who she was before, and ties it up instead.

I don't really have a lot of thoughts on the second drawing besides what I wrote down, but I do like that for the third one she has a blend of who she was at the beginning of the series (long coat) and also who she is becoming (a lighter color scheme). She trimmed her hair at some point while at the Grace because it most definitely had become a mess between seasons 2 and 3, and I like to think that Paige managed to find her a cane once she noticed how her limp had worsened. It's probably not the perfect height and Carpenter probably doesn't use it unless she's having a particularly bad day, but cane user Carpenter my beloved <3

Fourth image: The alt s3 fit is largely for situations where she wants to appear less menacing, especially if once they get into Glottage. Long sleeves also hide any injuries she's gotten so she doesn't rouse suspicions with the authorities. I don't really have a lot of thoughts on the other two! Mainly i just need to do a bit more workshopping on the snare dog bite. Don't really know how that works. Luckily for me she's always wearing long pants so I'm basically never going to draw it.
