Prompt: Tartaglia doesn’t lie about working with toys; it’s just a hobby, though. He likes carving, sewing, knitting, etc.

So when kids in Mondstadt start talking about a “toy maker,” the Knights are confused. Cut to Childe, who had heard about some great fishing spots in Mond from Venti, only to run into the Spark Knight, herself.

Now, weeks later, he’s got an entire fan club worth of munchkins visiting him weekly to watch him carve stuff. They make requests, like “carve a pony,” and “Can you give Dodoco stiches? He’s hurt.” Naturally, he obliges, bringing crafting materials, and stuff to entertain the kiddos. Bennett and Razor might even tag along a few times.

The Knights are confused, Venti is having a field day, Diluc is angry, and the kids just assume Childe’s presence is known by the grownups, which causes mass confusion. Just who is this mysterious toy maker?

Imagine the horror of finding out that Tartaglia, the bloodthirsty vanguard and 11th of the Fatui harbingers, is the one making toys for the kids, and no one noticed.

Though you wouldn’t call what happened earlier a fight, you had also never raised your voice at Jean in that way before. You knew she had a lot on her plate. Since she was the Acting Grandmaster, everything that went wrong in the nation seemed to become her responsibility to deal with. You had seen how it absorbed every last drop of time she had and how it exhausted her. 

You weren’t sure whether or not it had been your place to accuse her of overworking herself, even though the whole of Mondstadt knew she was. In fact, you were becoming more sure now that it hadn’t been your place to speak to her like that, despite the nature of the relationship you two had.

The guards on night shift outside her door warned you that she had seemed stressed last they’d seen of her, but allowed you to enter her office if you were “sure you’re willing to risk it.”

“Acting Grandmaster Jean?” you said, knocking on the door as you opened it. You received no response, and so you stepped inside.

Inside, the candle was dwindling on her desk amid stacked papers and books so tall you could not see Jean behind them. There would be nowhere on her desk to place the basket of tea you had brought as an apology, and so you set it down on the meeting table on the right side of the room. It was then you noticed a stack of papers had spilled onto the floor next to her desk.

Jean was in her chair, as expected, and her eyes were closed, head in her arms on the desk, also as expected. Her mouth was open slightly, a very gentle snore breaking the silence.

“Oh, Jean,” you chuckled, shaking your head and cleaning up the papers.

Placing the stack of papers on her desk, you surveyed the work before her. Stacks of books on the history of hunters and wildlife in Springvale (some bookmarked and some yet untouched), a to-do list that spread across multiple sprawled pages, some sealed envelopes waiting to be delivered. You noticed Jean’s fingers still lightly clung to a pen. Her head was resting on a half-written letter.

You hadn’t meant to intrude on the Acting Grandmaster’s privacy, but you couldn’t help but notice that your name was in the addressee line at the top of the letter. Below it was written,

“I hope your day wasn’t shrouded by our conversation earlier. I am deeply sorry for worrying you. Please understand that it is my place as the Acting Grandmaster to neglect no duties and show no weariness, and so I will do better to—”

The letter stopped there. A black stripe of ink ran up the page, perhaps from Jean falling asleep mid-authoring. You grimaced.

“You’re showing signs of weariness, Jean,” you whispered. She did not stir. “You’re only one woman.”

You noticed how her ponytail was slumped and how her cape was flopped over her shoulder, revealing bare skin. Gingerly, you pulled it back over her shoulder and sought after a blanket in the cabinet next to the window. You draped it over her figure, pulling it up to her ears, and picked up one of the books that was not yet tabbed.

“I’ll do some research for you,” you said softly. She still did not stir, and so you knelt and kissed her bangs. “Sleep tight, Dandelion Knight.”

★ ━━━━━━ It wasn't often that the Acting Grand Master of Mondstadt traveled to other nations, so she definitely felt a little awkward being in the unfamiliar Inazuma.

She had heard about the nation from her Knights and the Traveler, but it was a whole other thing actually being there. The mood of Narukami island was very different compared to Jean's home nation, and she was getting the feel for the streets and bustling stalls.

Many things smelled good and she stopped at a stall that sold Dango, a treat she had heard was a favorite of many people. Asking for a stick, and paying for it she held it in a gloved hand, admiring it.

"Let's see how this tastes..." Putting it to her lips and taking a small bite. "—Oh, it's sweet!" Not expecting it, her cheeks flushed as her mouth tingled as she ate the piece. It was really good, and she fully ate one piece, walking around to a place where she could watch the water off the cliff side.

Childe- “Own Brand Freestyle” by FelixThe1st, et al.

I think Childe would enjoy rap bahah. To many people’s surprise, his taste is quite good and the songs he likes are not repetitive in lyrics and style. He would train while listening to those, as they can be a cool energy fuel. After each workout he would come up to the mirror and check himself out, noticing how he gradually becomes stronger. He gets excited that the day Capitano will notice him finally comes closer and closer.

Venti- “Squidward Nose” by Cupcakke

Listen. I feel like Cupcakke would be his cup of tea dhdjjsks. Not only this song, but there would be more of her songs in his library. I think he would enjoy how her songs are a bit different from the rest artists, and he would listen and even sing her songs for funsies. Imagine him pulling up at the tavern, standing on the highest table, and beginning to sing that... And again, the poor victim would be none other than Diluc.

Jean- “Can’t Help Falling In Love” by Elvis Presley

I think Jean really enjoys old romantic music. Elvis’ voice depth is just right, and she even finds herself mumbling the lyrics when she gets her paperwork done. Even though being a knight is rooted within her, she does occasionally dream about twirling around at the ballroom with her love interest while this song plays, having a Princess moment. Khm-khm-Diluc When she realizes who the man that enters her mind is, she gets flustered and quickly changes the song. Concentrating harder on her work should shield her from these scenarios... right?

Hu Tao- “I Can’t Stop Me” by Twice

This sunshine would enjoy energetic songs. Her introducing Zhongli to Kpop, she has a vast knowledge of many groups and songs. However, Twice completely stuck to her for some reason. She would learn the choreography and perform them for the spirits/ souls that are yet to leave the plane of the mortals, sort of as a little gift to them. It’s her job to make sure they peacefully transfer, after all. Honorable mention: Red Velvet.

it was in moments like this, that jean missed the friendship they shared as children and young adults. what happened to turtle races, sunshine, and smiles? just because they were older and she was now the acting grand master -- that shouln't have changed anything. yet, it seemed, it really, really, had.

it's when her query of worry is thrown back at her, that jean's jaw drops. she's not used to having others challenge her. but, diluc wasn't just anyone, was he? and he most certainly was not one of her knights.

with a cross of arms across her chest, jean frowns. " i am in perfect health, thank you. " she admits, honestly. though, she could be sleeping more and eating proper meals --- but, that was besides the point. taking a step forward, jean pushes her advantage. " but, by my count, we weren't talking about me, now, were we? "

I can ramble on all the ships &/or whatever I like and whatnot, but forever will hold that the Best Genshin potential dynamic / ot3 for me is Mond Big 3, but very specifically the dynamic being romo-Jeanluc, romo-Kaejean, and the two idiots as what happens when you put two cats who weren’t properly acclimated to each other in the same room.
