The Cave of the Yellow Dog (2005, Mongolia) – directed by Byambasuren Davaa

Director Byambasuren Davaa’s globetrotting career has seen her study filmmaking in Ulaanbaatar and Munich. The Cave of the Yellow Dog is a thematic continuation of her previous film, The Story of the Weeping Camel – both are rooted in the lives of Mongolian nomads in contemporary times.

In this film, a little girl named Nansal (Batchuluun Nansal) befriends a stray dog she finds in the open grasslands. The rest of the movie unfolds like a gentle, humble fable.
