you and riki love each other to death. it's almost so painful with how the two of you guys are so attached to each other.

it wasn’t so smooth in the start, you guys were classmates that always threw snide remarks to each other. you guys nearly chewed each others ears off!

riki's fellow bandmates would always hear him come home to complain about things you did that bothered him! but everyone knew that it was because he was hiding his painfully obvious crush on you.

honestly, you forgot why you guys did that. now when you and riki think back to it, it gives you guys a good laugh, being in one the most healthiest and loving relationships ever.

"riki you should wear these pink sunglasses! you would look so cute with them on!" reaching up to place them on him.

"FAWK NO!" he emphasizes his words, a silly accent thrown along with his voice, not watching the volume of his voice in the store.

heesung takes a look at the both of you guys and shakes his head releasing a exasperated sigh. still even after dating, you guys bicker like an old married couple!

both of you and riki knowing his deep hatred for the color pink. but pink was your favorite color :( the only time ni-ki didn't mind the color pink was when it came to you, he was so glad you were his gf, you came into his life and changed his perspective on so many things.

"what is your hatred against pink?" you ask, glaring at riki for taking off the pink glasses off himself so quickly, faster than the blink of an eye.

"it's just.. pink. i don't like it!" he responds. "the most shocking discovery of the century! nishimura riki doesn't like the color pink! i'm in such distress!" you sarcastically yell out, now it's your turn, not caring about the volume of YOUR voice in the store.

the fellow enhypen members looking thru the clothes and glasses, pretending they don't hear your guys' pointless bickering.

"i told you your oreo hair was the best era! and you're just now you’re realizing it?!" you say, a string of pointless points being stammered to each, both you and riki.

"i think you guys should watch your volume in this store. after all, we're not the only people here.." jake murmurs by you and riki. "no need to argue anymore.." sunoo adds on.

"who said that we were arguing!" both you and ni-ki argue back at the same time. you both throw a smile to each other.

"wanna get boba across the street riki?" you ask, riki and you completely forgetting the fact you two were practically chewing each others ear off for the past 11 minutes.

"hell yeah! you don't even have to ask. it's on me." he responds.

you smile in response to your boyfriend, tippy toe-ing to place a small peck on his lips, reaching out your hand to grab his and skip out the store happily, leading him to the boba shop.

riki turns around as you are happily leading to the exit of the store, to jake and sunoo, "we locked in for real." he mouths to them, turning his body back around to skip with you.

both jake and sunoo stare at each other in disbelief.

it's the way you guys can argue so angrily with each other but then the next second act like nothing ever happened.

you and riki had been dating for just over a year now, but you knew right away, that he was the one. riki was the one who was always there for you, who comforted you in the toughest of times, who could never even think of hurting you without it hurting him. in your eyes, he was perfect.

"psst! y/n!" you woke up to the sound of taps to your window and a little voice calling your name. slowly turning to your left and looking out the window, you could see nishimura riki, standing in the freezing cold night, with tiny pebbles in his hand, trying to get you to sneak out again with him. you opened your window to ask what the hell he was doing here at 12:09 am. "riki! what are you doing here??" you whisper-yelled, trying not to wake your parents who were just down the hall. "i came to get you, dummy." he teased, wearing his signature smirk. you rolled your eyes and motioned for him to meet you at the front of your house. you acted like you were annoyed with him, but you and him both knew very well that you were just acting. in fact, your heart was beating way too fast for it to be normal. even after a year, this boy still managed to make your heart go crazy just by doing the simplest of things. you tip-toed down the stairs, and made your way over to the front door, opening it just a teeny bit to make sure the freezing air didn't get in but also just enough to let your boyfriend in. in the blink of an eye, you were wrapped up in his arms, and his head burying itself into your neck. "missed you," he mumbled into your neck. "jay hyung wouldn't let me see you until i finished my homework." he pouted, pulling away to look at your face. your eyes met his, and you felt your heart leap. "well, did you at least finish it?" you said, giggling at his little pout. "not at all," he smirks, taking your hand into his. "stupid homework won't keep me away from you." "riki!" you jokingly-swatted him. he let's out a tiny yelp but you're quick to shush him. "we have to be quiet or else my parents will wake up." you frown. "so let's go see the stars right now," he smiled, grabbing your jacket that was hanging on the hook and leading you out the door.

the walk to the park was full of comfortable silence and the reassuring feeling of riki's hand in yours. as you two arrived at the park, he pulled you over to the grassy hill and lied down. you quickly adjusted yourself to lay next to him, snuggling into his side for some more warmth. "i'm glad i met you y/n," riki says, turning to face you. "i'm glad i met you too ki," you said, not being able to control the smile spreading onto your face. the stars shined above you as he slowly leaned closer to you. tucking a stray strand of hair behind your ear, he delicately placed his hand on your right cheek, almost as if you were made of porcelain. just when he was mere centimeters away, he whispered to you: "i love you. you're my sun, moon, and stars, princess." and with that, he closed the gap, connecting you lips together. it was a kiss filled with forevers, promises, sweetness, but most importantly, pure love. and that's when you knew, both of you under the stars, that you wanted nothing more to be with nishimura riki for the rest of your life.

2 mins had passed and you finally spot sunghoon making his way through the crowd. for a second, relief washed over you, but it’s quickly replaced by annoyance.

“about time you showed up,” you said, feeling a bit frustrated.

“yeah, yeah.” he responds, uninterested with your anger.

you point at ni-ki, who’s slumped on the couch, mumbling words. sunghoon sighs, walking over to his inebriated friend. he attempts to lift ni-ki on his own, but he finds himself struggling.

“talk about skill issue,” you tease, making him glare at you in response.

“wait here,” he says, heading towards his car.

“where the hell are you going?” you call after him.

2:02 am

a moment later, he returns, holding a pair of familiar shoes. “here. you left these in my car ages ago.”

you stare at the shoes, then back to sunghoon. “why do you still have these?”

“uhh… forgot to throw them out,” sunghoon shrugs nonchalantly.

you roll your eyes but take the shoes, quickly changing out of your heels.

together, you manage to house ni-ki to his feet, slowly making your way out the party. the cool night air is a stark contrast to the humidity of the party inside. the sound of your footsteps echoes softly in the quiet streets. you try to hold ni-ki as steady as you can, but you can only do so much with your height.

‘ni-ki what’s your lock code?” you ask as you approach his and sunghoon’s building.

ni-ki mumbles something incoherently, his head lolling back and forth.

“ni-ki, we need your code.” sunghoon tries, but ni-ki can only let out a bunch of gibberish, eyes half-closed.

“he’s hopeless,” you sigh. “can you let him crash at your place?”

“fine by me,” sunghoon agrees, “if he pukes, you’re cleaning it up.”

“whatever,” too tired to argue further. “i never said i’m going to stay over at your place.” you quietly mutter.

after what feels like eternity, you reach sunghoon’s apartment. you were able to get ni-ki inside and laid him down on the couch, his soft snores filling the room.

sunghoon glances towards your direction, his expression unreadable. “you want me to walk you home?”

“can’t get enough of me huh?” you said, trying to get a reaction out of him.

“you wish.” rolling his eyes. “just don’t want to deal with our friends giving me shit if something bad were to happen to you.”

“just admit it, you’re worried about me.”

“whatever helps you sleep at night.”

“since you offered, then sure. i guess?”

the walk to your apartment was quieter, but still peppered with your usual banter. the city at his hour is so alive, yet so serene.

“thanks for walking me,” you say softly, fatigue washing over you. “goodnight, sunghoon.”

Happy happy happyyy" i started singing out of the blue. Ever since Eunchae let me open up to her, I feel like I've rediscovered myself. She makes me feel special, important and accepted. Eunchae is the reason I stepped out of my little bubble and made so many new friends. My friend circle is quite nice. I like it.

*SMACK*

"Hey!" I shouted, "Get back here! I just entered the class?!" I said as I chased after Ni-ki, the guy who LOVES to annoy me and smack the back of my head for some reason.

"Class! Settle down!" said our home room teacher. Okay maybe I should pass the story for minute... introductions yk?

Eunchae is the persom because of whom I'm a part of this group.

Ni-ki is... The mood maker? He's a really supportive and nice friend... AND ANNOYING. He loves to tease me huhu, but it's fine... He always makes me smile on the gloomiest days.

Then there's Yuna, always there by my side when Eunchae is busy. Hanni is her sister, the quiet one, but we always make sure she's included in our conversations.

And last one- Harua... He's... Harua. He's unpredictable and undescribable. He's too random.

Anyways, back to the story!

We always sat together. Me and Eunchae, behind us Yuna and Hanni, and Ni-ki and Harua infront.

After the teacher left the classroom, the chaos that ensued was inevitable. "CHOCOLATES!!" Riki yelled, catching me off gaurd. "GIMMEEE" i told him.  "Let me sleeeeeep" harua groaned. Riki threw the chocolate AT MY FACE. "Riki, i swear to Zoos(Zeus)-" "Zoos? Juice?" "Juicee!!" "Lol sorry about the chocolate, BYEE-" "YOU-"

The girls just giggled at us bickering. "I ship!!" Yuna exclaimed. "WHAT?!" "NOTHING-" "Uh hu... Anyways-" i started, to brush off what Yuna said, "wanna come over to my place to watch the new Percy Jackson show? A... A sleepover...?" i asked.

"sure" they chimed

"yayyy!! Just gotta tell niki now, where the hell did he run of to?!"

Then harua asked "how does friday sound?"

"that works! Yayy"

who the hell is ni-ki ?! - TWENTY

; SYNOPSIS - school sucks. especially when everyone’s avoiding you like the plague - all because you’re the principal’s daughter. so it comes as a surprise when a strip of paper falls out of your locker one day, with a corny pick up line written on it. now you only have one question on your mind: who the hell is nishimura riki?

once you had realised your feelings for your best friend, all sense seemed to have left you. now, you were an awkward mess around him, always either too close or too far.

through relentless begging, your friends had agreed to accompany you on your hangout with riki as a part of the plan, but made you promise to ask The Question on your own.

the plan was simple:

- get riki to the beach at sun set at 6pm - y/n confesses her feelings (script attached) at 6:10 - have fireworks at exactly 6:18, right at the end of y/n's prepared speech (minji and jungwon in charge of this) - she asks "will you be my boyfriend?" - riki says yes and they get together!

the hangout itself wasn't much different from previous ones between you two (you liked to think of them as dates, but riki didn't have to know that). usually, you two just did whatever, having fun until the sun set, when he'd then walk you home.

the day took a sharp turn however, when you had all been skating at the local skatepark.

you'd been going down a ramp, when riki crossed by on his own skateboard, causing you to roll right into him. as a result, you two had crashed, with him landing on the low-raised platform in the middle. he groaned as his head hit the concrete with a resounding thud, arms wrapped around you to protect you from the fall.

"riki!" you gasped as jay, danielle, and hanni rushed to his side. "oh my god, are you okay?"

"no, i'm riki," he jokes, to which you slap him at.

"not funny."

"that was a really hard hit," jay frowns, helping the boy sit up.

riki winces and grips his forehead. you and the others ask how he feels, but he can't seem to focus or hear you clearly. your panicked heartbeat pounds in your ears, afraid of how badly you hurt him.

jay fished his phone out of his pocket and shone the flashlight around the younger's eyes.

"his pupils have a slow response to the light, he might have a concussion," he concludes. you feel dread run down your spine, blood chilling.

"we have to bring him to the hospital," danielle says so fast you almost don't catch what she says.

hanni and jay help him onto his feet, and you open the door to jay's car, and the five of you rush to the hospital.

you stare out the window, trying to calm your breathing as you wait for riki to wake up.

he'd fallen asleep on the ride, and you prayed that he would wake up faster. you weren't even sure he would at first, but the doctor assured you all that he'd only sustained minor injuries; there was nothing to be worried about.

danielle and hanni had gone down to buy some snacks from the vending machine. you didn't want riki to wake up while you were gone, so you opted to stay.

"he's fine, you know."

you hummed in acknowledgement that you'd heard what jay said, but you don't think you'll really relax until he wakes up.

you should have been more careful, controlled the board away so you wouldn't crash into him. then, he wouldn't have ended up hitting his head, nor would he have found himself unconscious in a hospital.

jay seemed to realise you were overthinking, and put a hand on your shoulder. he bit his lip in uncertainty, not sure how to get you to calm down.

"it was me, you know." you turned to him, confusion lining your face.

"what was you?"

"i'd been the one discouraging his friendship with you. well- mostly me," he confessed. "i was scared you'd turn him in or something, and your dad would expel him, and he'd have to retake the year at another school."

"oh. so it was you who planted those thoughts in his head," you stated lightheartedly with a raised eyebrow.

jay scratched the nape of his neck. "yeah... about that. i'm sorry, y/n. i was so focused on getting him to graduate despite all the things he's done. everyone's always talked about riki as this spectacle, and he's cried to us so many times about it. i guess i got protective over it, and didn't realise that maybe you really did just want to be his friend."

you smiled softly, grateful for his apology. you tried to show your forgiveness with a hug.

"it's alright. he talked to me about it a few times, but i always reassured him. he hasn't brought it up in a while, so i figured he finally got it through his head."

"i hope so."

when you heard the ruffling of sheets, you two quickly turned to your friend, slowly waking up.

"you're okay!" you cried, hugging him tightly.

"ow- yep," he chuckled, patting you on the back. you realised you were hurting him and let go, but he kept a hold on you and rested his chin on your shoulder.

"i'm so sorry," you whispered. "i'm so sorry, i'm so sorry, i'm so so sorry."

"it's alright. don't worry," he laughed. "this isn't the worst thing that's happened to me."

"i don't want to know."

"i'm glad you're okay," jay sighed in relief, and that's when you finally let go. "i'll go call the nurse."

once he left, you turned back to riki, and caught yourself in a staring contest.

your breath caught as his eyes rooted you on the spot. you couldn't look away; neither could he.

and then, you hit him on the arm.

"OW-"

"you idiot, don't scare me like that again!"

"i didn't choose to have a concussion!"

"you scared the shit out of me!"

"i didn't mean to!"

you trapped him in another embrace, almost sobbing into his hospital gown. you could hear him laugh, before wrapping his arms around you and pushing the hair out of your face.

"you totally ruined my plans for today," you teased.

"what plans?"

"i was planning on bringing you to the beach, where i'd tell you all about how much i like you. there was going to be-"

you suddenly stood back up, remembering the original plan of the day.

you grabbed your phone in a haste and checked the time.

6:15pm.

you forgot to tell jungwon and minji that you wouldn't be at the beach because you'd all been so worried over riki. they probably thought everything was still going as planned.

"y/n, what's going on?" riki pressed curiously.

just then, familiar exploding sounds were heard from outside, and you opened the window to see.

even from the view of the hospital building, you could see the fireworks fly into the air, a show for everyone to see. you hadn't realised how big the fireworks jay had gotten were.

you felt riki walk in close behind you, and you looked up to find him staring at the bright lights outside. although the beach was relatively war away, they were still pretty clear from here. the bright colours illuminated his face as he stared in awe, and you had to force yourself to look away.

"...does that say 'thank you, riki'??"

smiling sheepishly, you nodded. "umm, this was the plan that we had. i was supposed to get you to the beach at six and make it all seem natural. and then i had a confessional speech i was going to say - it was all scripted and everything!" you laughed embarrassedly, looking at the floor. "and then, the fireworks were supposed to play at the end of my speech, and i was going to ask-"

he cut you off as his lips crashed down on yours.

you were stunned for a moment, before kissing him back, feeling him sigh into the kiss in relief. this was your first kiss, and it was with the boy you loved so bad. giddiness tickled your stomach, and you prayed that this wouldn't be the last.

when you two parted, riki couldn't keep his smile down, eyes tracing your features.

"i love you," he whispered, barely audible.

"i love you too," you whispered back, afraid that any loud noise would shatter the moment. "will you be my boyfriend?"

"yes!" he giggled, embracing you again and jumping you two around in circles.

but then he paused, and created space between you two. "wait, no."

your jaw dropped. "no?"

"no, i don't want to be your boyfriend - just yet."

"what do you mean?" you pouted.

"we should get together on my birthday," he wore a cheshire smile on his face. "so our anniversaries could be on my birthday. the best day ever."

"but your birthday's in five days," you whined.

"you can wait five days, right?"

"what if i want more kisses?"

"i'll give you as many as you want, but i want to start using labels on my birthday."

"you're so childish," you rolled your eyes. "so what are we for now? just friends who kiss?"

"i do not want to be just friends," he shook his head. "but i definitely want more of this," riki said, pulling you in for another kiss.

it's been years, since your soulmate had stopped sending letters. a part of you had prepared for the worst, but another part of you was still clinging to the glimmer of hope in your heart. tears formed in your eyes with just the idea of letting go of him, and even the memories he had left behind. you've never even met this boy, nor has physically been with him.

what are you doing to me, ni-ki?

he identified himself as ni-ki, a japanese art student who enjoyed photography who never fails to put photos he had personally taken in his mails whenever he sends some, and they were the prettiest. some were the photos of the sunset, a field of flowers, and his face. honestly speaking, ni-ki looked like he was personally made by the gods himself; that's how good-looking he is. though his full name was nishimura riki, he was called ni-ki by close friends. he even promised to take candid photos of you once the two of you finally meets, but when?

you exited your room's balcony, disheartened, after snapping a photograph. the sunset, as it painted diverse hues in the sky, reminded you of ni-ki, who had vanished without explanation. you took a picture, assuming that you'd be able to show them to ni-ki once the two of you had met. sunsets, no matter how painful they are to see, never fail to captivate you.

"your memory is ecstasy, love," you smile to yourself, yearning to hold ni-ki and finally experience his warmth, especially now that the snow is falling.

despite the fact that seeing everything ni-ki had sent you in the previous years would make you feel worse than it is now, you chose to hunt for them in your closet. it was kept in a floral and vintage-looking box that was still in good condition. you felt something chilly flow through your hands as you reached for the box above your clothes, making you shudder.

‘weird,’ you thought to yourself.

the strange sensation in your stomach didn't stop you from revisiting the memories and putting the box on your study desk. the instant you opened the package, you felt lightheaded, and the next thing you know, everything blacked out when you saw the contents. you were certain you noticed a bouquet of fresh summer flowers, including amaranthus, baby's breath, globe amaranth, and zinnia. they all appeared to be brand new and fresh, as if they had just been plucked from a garden. it was a faint odor, but it was there.

“what the hell?” you croaked out, before letting the darkness take over.

you awoke to find yourself properly tucked in your bed. there was a strange lingering scent of men's perfume in the air. you also had a cup of water on your bedside table, which you drank without hesitation because your head was pounding. when you got back into bed, you spotted a strange coat at the foot of your bed. it was a long, black coat that appeared to be worn by a man your age.

but weren't you an only child? and your parents weren't around.

when the door to your room opened, showing a tall figure belonging to a teenage boy, he turned to face you with a smile on his face and his eyes changed to crescents, your attention was diverted from the intriguing coat in your bed. he appeared to be someone you'd seen before, but you couldn't place him. it prevailed on you then,

it was ni-ki.

you ran out of your bed hurriedly to hug him and finally feel his warmth that would surely bring you comfort. but instead of being in his arms, you find yourself on the floor, face first. you quickly stood up, and tried to hold his hand, in hopes of feeling him. but your hands only passed through his, as if he was just a hologram. what is going on?

he must've seen the look of bewilderment on your face, as well as the tears welling up in your eyes. ni-ki caressed your cheeks and kissed you on the forehead. his touch was the polar opposite of what you'd expect; it was cold as ice.

“i'm sorry, please forgive me,” ni-ki spoke with his velvety voice rang through your ears. it was like he was pleading, pain was very noticeable in his voice. the tears in your eyes finally fell, as it broke your heart to see him in a miserable state.

“i miss you, more than life.” he continued, further perplexing you. so, what exactly did he mean? you felt like you had to sort it out on your own. you were unable to cry in front of your lover. he then left a kiss on your eyelids, you tried to reach out and hug him. this time, you finally could, but again, he was as cold as ice.

“can't i be closer to you?” you manage to ask, though it almost came out as a whisper. you were still clinging onto him.

“please settle for the ghost of mine.” he replied with a heavy heart. ni-ki truly loved you, and didn't want to hurt you in any way possible.

“but what if it's not enough?” you asked, though you didn't want to pull away from the hug, you wanted to see his face upclose.

“then, wait for me. i'll come back, just for you.”
