✉ : On average, how long does it take you to write a reply that you’re pleased with?
oh man, that really depends. depends on my mood, my motivation, my focus, and the thread itself.
i think the average time i spend on replies is probably… 20 minutes? i’ve never really timed it or anything, but i know i can take a while. i take time to think of how i want to word things, structure my sentences, all of that, but then also… make sure that it’s fitting of my character. i want to make sure his thoughts, actions, and emotions all fit him, and fit his reaction to whatever’s happening, and i want his dialogue to sound right – i want it to read like something shiro would really say, and how he’d say it. so… i can take a while to write up a reply i’m pleased with. and that’s just an average length reply – novella ones take extra long, naturally lmao
☯ : Greatest challenge to writing your character?
definitely keeping things balanced. shiro’s… a pretty complex character. he’s got this dark past that really weighs on him and affects him in a number of ways, but he’s also this determined hero type, even if he doesn’t see himself as such. it can be difficult to find that balance of the right amount of angst, the right amount of confidence, the right amount of what he’d say or admit to, the amount that he’d sort of coddle the other paladins… there’s a LOT that goes on in his head – so many thoughts, so many emotions, plus then there’s the ptsd symptoms to take into account… but he’s a fucking kind and sweet dude too, despite all that, and…
yeah. it’s all about keeping a good balance with everything when it comes to shiro, and that can be difficult.
