The text written in those colorful nobari :
串だんご (Kushi-dango)
Tumblr media
Dango is a Japanese sweet that has been loved by Japanese people for a long time. Dango is a dough made by adding water to powdered grains such as rice, rolling it up and steaming it. Currently, skewered dumplings are often recognized as so-called dumplings, but there are also dumplings that are not skewered. Dumplings flavored with soy sauce, miso, and soybean flour have long been popular among Japanese people. There are also dango called hanami dango and tsukimi dango, which are often seen at events and are said to bring good luck.
たこ焼 (Takoyaki)
Tumblr media
Diced octopus encased in a light batter and rolled into a ball with spring onion and ginger and topped with green seaweed, sauce, sliced and dried bonito, and sometimes drizzled with mayonnaise. The exterior of a takoyaki ball is a nice golden brown while the interior can be a touch molten. A single order of takoyaki typically contains about eight balls that are topped with shaved bonito flakes (katsuobushi), aonori seaweed flakes and drizzled with mayonnaise and takoyaki sauce.
おでん (Oden)
Tumblr media
"Oden" is very popular winter dish all over Japan, and each region has original taste, as Ozouni new year soup. Various kind of ingredients slowly simmered in flavorful dashi broth.
• Masks
Traditional Japanese masks (お面) are mostly decorative and can easily be found at festivals and shrine events. Masks have long played an important role in Japanese culture. Most of these masks are archetypes borrowed from mythology, ancient dances, or noh theater and military costume. Traditional masks are still used by theater actors or Shinto dancers. The most popular Japanese masks are often inspired by yokai; Supernatural Japanese creatures that appear in popular legends and beliefs. In Kabuki theater, they used makeup to embody characters such as demons or to translate expressions such as anger, feelings of sadness or rage on the faces. The Kabuki actors, as opposed to the Noh Theater, do not wear masks. The mask has also the function of hiding any individual traces of the actor. The fox mask is worn on the faces of many festival goers during Shinto ceremonies. Kitsune mask always using White colour based with red patterns. Inari Shrine had red colors everywhere included on the fox statues of the shrine. Most of the foxes serve Inari has white fur. In most of Japanese festival, Kitsune mask always using White colour based with red patterns. The mask of the fox used in Noh play or Kagura play is white. Kitsunes are believed to have from one to nine tails. The number of tails a kitsune has indicates its age and strength. Kitsunes can come in different colors but turn white or gold upon gaining their 9th tail. The Nine Tailed Fox, or Kyuubi no Kitsune, can hear and see everything that goes on around the world. They wear these (kitsune) masks, in order to attract good benefits and thus ensure a good harvest.
Here are the masks I identified from the panel above.
1. Ramenman in Kinnikuman series
Tumblr media
The Japanese manga series Kinnikuman was written and illustrated by Yoshinori Nakai and Takashi Shimada, known as Yudetamago. The series follow Kinnikuman, a superhero who must win a wrestling tournament to retain the title of prince of Planet Kinniku. The manga was first published in Shueisha's magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump as a two one-shots in December 1978 and March 1979. The regular serialization started with the publication of the first chapter in the May 28, 1979 issue of Weekly Shōnen Jump, where it was serialized weekly until its conclusion in March 1987. Tatakae!! Ramenman is an alternate-universe and spin-off series to Yudetamago's previous work: Kinnikuman. It is focused around the character of Ramenman, who travels the land to fight various enemies. It was serialized in Shueisha's Fresh Jump magazine from 1982 until 1988.
2. Kamen Rider (1971 TV series)
Tumblr media
Kamen Rider is a tokusatsu franchise created by manga creator Shotaro Ishinomori.
3. Chiaotzu in Dragon Ball
Tumblr media
4. Sun Wukong
Tumblr media
(The picture I'm using from Toriyama's bonus illustration featured in Dragon Ball's 6th volume)
In the novel, this headgear is something that binds sun wukong. Originally, he didn't wear it, but after following Tang Sanzang, that is, his master. At the beginning, he liked to kill some ordinary people without any spells. Tang Sanzang felt that his character was very bad, so there was a god, she called Guanshiyin Bodhisattva. This Bodhisattva also taught Tang Sanzang a formula. She used the temptation to make Monkey King wear a hat, and then the hat became this headgear, if Monkey King wanted to kill ordinary people.Tang Sanzang can recite formulas, and this headdress will shrink, giving Monkey King a headache and unable to use any spells. @dob-siki thank you for the information!!!
5. Hyottoko mask
Tumblr media
Hyottoko means this facial expression or a mask with this funny face. It's a man. The pouting bent expression of his mouth is very significant. The size of the left and right eyes can be different too. In the mask or the person, who wears the mask often puts Japanese cotton towel (Tenugui) around the head. This character originally came from ancient traditional Japanese dance called Bugaku. The face of this character is an old man playing a funny and ridiculous role. He saw a beautiful couple dancing beautifully and admired and appreciated their dancing while drinking a lot of sake. He was very impressed and tried to dance like that with his wife. But they were too drunk and too old to dance gracefully, so their "dance" turned out to be very funny and awkward. There are many different stories about Hyotoko in Japan. The name Hyottoko came from Hi-Otoko (fire man). He is blowing air through a hollow bamboo stick to make fire. And his expression is showing how hard he is trying. His mouth is also known to resemble sake bottle. Hyottoko masks are commonly used during traditional Japanese dances in order to bring good luck.
I don't know whether the following findings are correct or wrong.
6. Lokai in Star Trek : Let That Be Your Last Battlefield (1969)

This is what came to my mind when I saw white on the right side and black on the left side.

When Carl Weathers auditioned for the role of Apollo Creed, the prizefighter who gives an untried contender a shot at his heavyweight title in Rocky (1976), he was asked to read opposite the film’s writer. “Now – I’m ignorant – and as I finish reading, I say, ‘Well, wait a minute, if you can get me a real actor to read with, I can do this a lot better.’”
Unbeknown to him, his scene partner was the newcomer Sylvester Stallone, who had not only written the script but was playing the title role. “Somehow I got the job,” said Weathers.
A 6ft 2in former NFL linebacker, Weathers, who has died aged 76, brought the full force of his charisma to a role that could in less skilful hands have prompted straightforward hisses and boos. There was a depth and kindness to him that no amount of on-screen braggadocio could conceal. He spoke, said one LA Times reporter, with the “overly concise diction of a TV evangelist”.
To prepare for the role of Apollo, Weathers watched old Muhammad Ali fights for inspiration. Shot for peanuts, the film grossed $225m, won three Oscars, including best picture, and spawned four sequels. A further three films in the spin-off Creed cycle featured Michael B Jordan as Apollo’s son Adonis.
Weathers was taken aback by the instant fame that Rocky brought him. The day after the film opened, he said, “I was out for a walk in Manhattan and street vendors are yelling, ‘Yo, Apollo.’ That is scary. You are not prepared for that.”
He reprised his role in the first three Rocky sequels. Rocky II (1979) begins immediately after the events of the original film, with both fighters in wheelchairs, coming face-to-swollen-face with one another in the hospital.
“Get up out of that chair, chump, and let’s finish this fight right now!” Apollo demands, having won only on a split decision after 15 rounds. Later, there is a moment of tenderness when Rocky, bandaged and slurring, wheels himself to Apollo’s hospital room late at night, nudges open his door, and asks whether Apollo really gave the match his all.
Though they decide initially against a rematch, Apollo becomes incensed by the hate mail he receives branding the fight a fake. Rocky II ends with the opponents bloodied on the canvas. Struggling to his feet, Rocky is declared the winner.
In Rocky III (1982), Apollo trains Rocky against a vicious new opponent, Clubber Lang (Mr T). The old adversaries get back in the ring at the end of that film for a friendly sparring match, the outcome of which remained a secret until Rocky revealed to Adonis in Creed (2015) that Apollo had clinched it. In Rocky IV (1985), Apollo is brutally trounced in a bout with the Russian boxer Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren). He dies in Rocky’s arms.
Weathers found many of the subsequent roles he was offered to be “pointless and meaningless”. But he enjoyed squaring off against another of that decade’s action heroes – Arnold Schwarzenegger – in the fantasy thriller Predator (1987).
In their first scene together, the men greet each other with a handshake that develops into an impromptu arm-wrestling contest. It is won by Schwarzenegger, his bicep bulging monstrously in close-up – a clear case of the more famous actor literally flexing his celebrity muscle.
Weathers later meets a sticky end during an encounter in the jungle with a shape-shifting alien. He loses an arm – his finger is still firing the trigger of his automatic weapon even as the limb falls to the ground – before expiring with a blood-curdling scream.
During his down-time on Predator, the actor developed with the film’s producer Joel Silver a lead role for himself as a Detroit detective in his own shoot-’em-up adventure, Action Jackson (1988), though a hoped-for franchise never materialised.
He acquitted himself well in the Adam Sandler golfing comedy Happy Gilmore (1996) as a pro golfer whose hand is bitten off by an alligator; in one scene, he sits at a grand piano on a golf course playing We’ve Only Just Begun. He reprised the role in Sandler’s Little Nicky (2000) but was even funnier as a tight-fisted, cost-cutting version of himself in four episodes of the sitcom Arrested Development between 2004 and 2013.
Weathers was born in New Orleans, the eldest son of a labourer father. He won a sports scholarship to St Augustine high school, then attended Long Beach Poly high school and Long Beach City College. He made it to San Diego State University on a football scholarship and graduated with a degree in theatre.
His professional football career began in 1970 with a single season with the Oakland Raiders. After being dismissed for being “too sensitive”, he played for two years with the British Columbia Lions in the Canadian Football League. “How good was I? I was good enough to make it … But I was never dedicated enough. I was never in love with football.” Acting, he said, was “a lot more fun, and I ache a lot less.”
He retired from football in 1974 and won supporting roles in television series such as The Six Million Dollar Man (1975) and Starsky and Hutch (1976), and with Pam Grier in the blaxploitation thrillers Bucktown and Friday Foster (both 1975).
After Rocky, he starred with Burt Reynolds and Kris Kristofferson in the football comedy Semi-Tough (1977); with Robert Shaw and Harrison Ford in the Guns of Navarone sequel Force 10 from Navarone (1978); and alongside Charles Bronson and Lee Marvin in the thriller Death Hunt (1981). He also wrote and performed the 1981 soul single You Ought to Be With Me.
Television work was plentiful, though attempts to fashion a long-running TV vehicle for him were hit-and-miss. In Fortune Dane (1986), he played a political troubleshooter battling white-collar crime; the show lasted six episodes. Its producer Barney Rosenzweig called Weathers “one of the more intelligent people I’ve ever been in business with. But he’s a physical animal. He’s gorgeous … The guy looks like a Greek god.”
He was a regular on Street Justice (1991-93), In the Heat of the Night (1993-95), inspired by the 1967 Sidney Poitier film of the same name, and Chicago Justice (2017).
Weathers also provided the voice of Combat Carl in Toy Story 4 (2019) and played the bounty hunter Greef Karga in the Star Wars spin-off series The Mandalorian (2019-23).
Weathers’ three marriages ended in divorce. He is survived by two sons, Jason and Matthew, from his first marriage, to Mary Ann Castle in 1973.

Alton Sterling (June 14, 1979 - July 5, 2016) a victim of a police killing, was born in Baton Rouge. He worked as a CD vendor and had five children. He was known by residents as someone who loved to cook for everyone at the shelter.
Police received an anonymous tip that a man in a red shirt was selling CDs outside a grocery store and threatening another individual with a gun. They confronted him, forcing him to the ground and pinning him down by kneeling on his chest and thigh. Officer Blane Salamoni claimed Sterling was reaching in his pocket for a gun, and fired six shots at close range. He was pronounced dead from multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and back by EMS staff who arrived on the scene.
According to the witness videos, he did not pull a gun or threaten the officers. The bodycam footage of the officer who shot him shows that seconds after Salamoni came to the aid of another officer, Howie Lake, who was in the process of trying to restrain him, Salamoni drew his gun and threatened to shoot him if he moved. The store’s owner, Abdullah Muflahi, confirmed that he, known in Baton Rouge as “CD Man,” had begun carrying a gun only a few days before the incident, citing recent robberies of other CD vendors.
The Department of Justice opened a civil rights investigation on July 7, 2016, and announced on May 2, 2017, that it would not file charges against officers Lake and Salamoni, Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry announced in March 2018, after reviewing the evidence, that no charges would be filed against the officers because they had acted “reasonably and justifiably.” On March 30, 2018, Officer Salamoni was fired for violating the use of force policy, and Officer Lake was suspended for three days for losing his temper.
In 2021, his family accepted a $4.5 million settlement with the City of Baton Rouge. He is survived by his five children, his aunt, Sandra Sterling, the mother of three of his children; Andricka Williams; and other family members. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence #blm

Stephanie Nichols 12th Annual Car & Vintage Plane Show (Georgetown, TX)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love it when cars, uh... cosplay as planes. Hah. It's a rad idea, and the top one here is a Ford Mustang... painted up like a P-51 Mustang plane. That's just cool as hell.
Tumblr media
I wish I could remember what kind of plane this was / history it had, but my son was too busy distracting me by laughing at the giant "69."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sexy and sleek, or a dirty rat rod? Gorgeous, no matter the condition.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
UGHHHHHH. I didn't have a Trans-Am, but I did have a car almost identical to this a long ways back. I had a 1979 Firebird that had the same body as this. Built for racing (for better or worse - It literally caught on fire when I raced someone once... but, yes, I did beat him).
It was awesome being in the presence of this cousin of my old ride. All sorts of memories I probably shouldn't mention here...
Tumblr media
This plane looked like a '60s rec room.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also had a 1971 Volkswagen Westfalia bus, which came a few years after this one on the left. I most certainly didn't have anything like this vintage Rolls Royce showstopper on the right.
Tumblr media
One of our favorite local planes is from World War II, and it's still flying today - A B-25 Mitchell bomber called the "Devil Dog." What an incredible machine.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Random shots. Oh my good God, this Edsel, though!
Tumblr media
There were a few vendors there, including Hot Wheels ones. I had to go home with these, they were all just $3 apiece!
Okay, I saved the best for last. Look at this sexy trike:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just as legit as they come, including a speaker that plays multiple Mario Kart songs and sound effects, and a blue shell side pack. Godddddddd damn.

There are a million ways to tell a life story. Review of Reverse the Curse.
"There are a million ways to tell a life story. As a tragedy or a comedy or as a fairy tale with baseball teams that can keep you alive..."
Reverse the Curse is a movie written and directed by and starring David Duchovny based on his novel Bucky F*cking Dent. Duchovny plays Marty, a man dying of lung cancer. Logan Marshall-Green plays his estranged son Ted, an aspiring writer who works as a peanut vendor at Yankee Stadium. Stephanie Beatriz plays Mariana, a grief specialist nurse. Early in the movie, before we ever see Marty, Mariana speaks this line which foreshadows that, while this is a familiar story with universal themes, it is going to be told in a way that will take you by surprise. As the writer adapts his novel to the screen, it retains the signature style of Duchovny's written works for screen, novel, and song lyrics which is more reflective of life than any specific genre of storytelling. In Reverse the Curse Duchovny creates a story of tragedy, comedy, a touch of a fairy tale, an epic sports season, and a dash of romantic comedy. It's a movie that will take you on a heart-filled journey of loss, healing, and new beginnings while you laugh and cry.
With Duchovny's unexpected style (a critic refers to this movie as genre-bending), he is sometimes criticized for tonal dissonance. This film moves quickly, finds creative ways to express backstory without long exposition, and does a better job than his first movie (House of D which I would recommend) of signaling when the fairy tale aspects are about to begin (literally by asking the question do you believe in fairy tales). The story beats of comedy and drama blend into each other in a way that feels connected.
The story of the 78 Red Sox and New York Yankees works well as the backdrop of the story of the father-son. Sports provides a bridge for the two men to learn how to talk to each other again after years of estrangement. Marty makes the point that baseball is the one sport where theoretically a game might never end. However, the genius of this backdrop is that it anchors the story in our world which happens to be a world where people believe in curses and where sometimes there occurs an improbable outcome such as a shortstop with a poor batting average hitting a legendary home run. The fact that this story is a historical fact lends credibility to the more fairy tale parts of the movie.
What really pours forth from this movie is heart. Duchovny delivers comedic lines with genius and there is a confession scene which many are referring to as the best dramatic scene of his career. He has great chemistry with Marshall-Green whose hesitation with some comedic material works well in the character of Ted who is unsure of himself. Beatriz is a standout in her portrayal of a woman whose career path has been determined by personal tragedy. The most "out there" characters in the movie are the three barbershop boys, Marty's older male friends who spend their days in the barbershop. These characters are exactly that...Characters! Played by Jason Beghe, Evan Handler, and Santo Fazio, what makes the scenes with these characters work is the sense that they have known each other and developed their banter over decades. A storyline that could have been seen as silly becomes a story about true friendship over time.
This movie has the feel of a seventies movie. It is not simply that it is set in 1978. In fact, there are some historical inaccuracies such as the showing of Jimmy Carter's malaise speech which takes place in 1979 not 1978. It is the fact that the movie feels like it was based on the type of movies we might have seen in the theater in the seventies. Some of that is cinematic. The cinematographer, Jeff Powers, said in an interview that he drew inspiration from a lot of the American New Waves films from that time including Five Easy Pieces. It reminded me of movies like Harold and Maude, Midnight Cowboy, and Love Story. It's a character-driven story where the ending is a foregone conclusion that takes its beats getting to the ending because the ending is not the point as much as the journey to the ending. Each step of laughter and each step of tears and even sitting through a scene with an over-reliance on fart humor is a beat of hearts within the film.
For me, my journey of watching the film, my heartbeats, were these. Seeing Marty in a hospital bed with oxygen in the first scene in which we see him instantly transported me to the first time I saw my father after his lungs collapsed. However, the seventies feel of the movie transported me to a time when my father and I used to go to the theater to watch movies together - in the seventies- and how much he liked movies like this one. It was a surprise to me to feel that my father's presence was laughing with me as we had laughed together at so many films while he was alive. It was a gift of heart.
All the stars from me!
Please note I had a difficult time not constantly referring to changes between the book and the movie in this review. I was slightly afraid to see the movie for fear it would hurt the novel for me. I am now fascinated by the decisions that were made that make each so unique while telling the same story. In a few weeks, when spoilers are more acceptable, I will do a written comparison of the two.

History of E-commerce
E-commerce began in the 1960s, when businesses started using EDI to share business documents with other companies. In 1979, the American National Standards Institute developed ASC X12 as a universal standard for businesses to share documents through electronic networks.
Statistics showing how e-commerce grew early in the COVID-19 pandemic.
E-commerce grew significantly in 2020 as the pandemic took hold.
As the number of individual users sharing electronic documents with each other grew in the 1980s, the rise of eBay and Amazon in the 1990s revolutionized the e-commerce industry. Consumers can now buy many items online, from e-commerce-only vendors -- also called e-tailers -- and brick-and-mortar stores that have e-commerce capabilities. Almost all retail companies have integrated online business practices into their business models and sell online.
COVID-19 pandemic caused a significant spike in e-commerce transactions. With shoppers confined to their homes for an extended period, e-commerce jumped to a record high of 16.4% of total U.S. retail sales in the second quarter of 2020, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. It has since leveled off at around 15%. The Census Bureau keeps a record of quarterly e-commerce data dating back to 1999. In Q3 2023, total U.S. retail e-commerce sales were estimated to be $284.1 billion.

This is a 1979 international scout and there were two versions supposedly but really there weren't it's four wheel drive it's pretty hefty and it's a truck it's almost to mid-size it's more like a compact of today's standard and he wants to make a sub compact and probably a pickup version and that would be probably it and to be really easy to make with fiberglass and we could put them on almost any frame the truck would be a truck frame that would be the scout II and we'll do it in standard Blazer fashion where you can have it turned into a truck or you can have it be a standard vehicle which in the interior wouldn't change but he wants to make it so you can take the back off and that's what they're made to be like no fancy stuff except when you take the back off he wants to make it so he can close it off but we tried that it doesn't work but he wants to put like the gorilla coating where it's really a rhino liner and it looks like flooring and it feels like it we have one that wears like it and you can take the seat out and you have a pickup truck and you don't have to worry about the carpets floor mats and you take those out and it comes with a roll cage and we will start to sell these these are nice when you take the top off you go cruising and it's awesome and you'll see the top it comes off differently. And it is utility vehicle it's made to tow it's made to drive around it's made to do all sorts of stuff but the smaller one will come in a couple different formats maybe even three one is for towing and it's going to be lighter towing it's going to be rear wheel drive the other is a utility vehicle front wheel drive still light duty the other would be heavier duty 4-wheel drive and the same would be for the scout 2 and we'll make two of them and since the utility vehicle you can change it up to whatever you want as a format and we'll sell soft tops and convertibles all sorts of things it's a great truck and he wants one already it's tired of screwing around with all these vehicles that don't work and you can get a small one and front wheel drive is his thing for fuel economy and it would look cooler than this but very very close to this because it's a kit and we're going to start doing it and people used to go nuts with these I mean they were fanatics is a fast seller we're going to put together a kit and we're going to try this new system and we're looking for vendors who sell kits and who sell fully built kit vehicles and we build the kit out of metal
Thor Freya
We sort of got the fact you probably would do this we have some tested and we know they work and the design is close it looks really nice strong and sturdy they get great gas mileage even with the four-wheel drive because you can switch it out like most but the way it works is better and it's an inexpensive frame and and the body is not not expensive and it is a kit but we have one that's fully built too and be selling the rolling chassis and drive training separately at first but it does go on to a whole bunch of vehicles in a small pickup truck looks like this it's really the scout goes on to all sorts of cars
Zig Zag our projects are moving forwards and we're doing well we will need help eventually no we need it now and we're getting it and they're sending it out I can see it go out

In 2007, as 2D NAND reached its scale limit, Toshiba took the lead in proposing the concept of 3D NAND structure. However, due to Toshiba's financial difficulties, this part of its core business had to be sold to a consortium led by Bain Capital, an American private equity investment company, in 2018. Toshiba only held about 40.6% of Kioxia's shares. In October 2019, the new company started afresh as Kioxia Holdings Co., Ltd.
Toshiba invented NAND flash memory in 1987. In April 2017, Kioxia's predecessor, Toshiba Memory Group, was spun off from Toshiba, creating advanced storage solutions and services that enrich people's lives and expand society's horizons. By • Olalekan Fagbade BREAKING; Presidency issues Press Statement on Tinubu's Chicago State University Certificate The presidency has dismissed claims that the certificate President Bola Tinubu presented to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the 2023 elections was forged. Chicago State University (CSU) had released the academic records of President Bola Tinubu to his political opponent, Atiku Abubakar, on Monday, following the order of a court. Atiku, the presidential candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the February 25 election, had requested the documents to back his allegation of forgery of CSU certificate against Tinubu. The allegation of forgery was one of those dismissed by the presidential election court in the suit Atiku filed to challenge the election of Tinubu. Despite the court’s ruling, Atiku continued his case at the US court, hoping to get official documents to back his claim and possibly include them in his appeal at the Supreme Court. Birthday mismatch, gender error, unanswered questions As Chicago State University releases Tinubu’s certificate Chicago University saga: Five things Atiku planning to use in nailing Tinubu Through his lawyers, Atiku sought these key things – an example of a CSU diploma issued in 1979; Tinubu’s diploma issued in 1979; example of a CSU diploma that “contains the same font, seal, signatures and wording” as Tinubu’s diploma issued in June 1979 and CSU documents certified and produced by Jamar Orr, an associate general counsel at CSU at the time. The university registrar had made an oral deposition of the documents, but there were different interpretations. Reacting on Wednesday, President Tinubu’s media aide, Temitope Ajayi, argued that CSU affirmed under oath that Tinubu attended and graduated from the institution and that the school does not handle replacements for lost certificates. He said there was no truth in the forgery claim, adding that no person can forge a certificate he already has. Taking to his account on the X formerly known as Twitter, the presidential media aide wrote: “We should be clear. “In the deposition made by the Chicago State University, there was nowhere the University said the certificate presented to INEC by President Tinubu is fake. The University insisted under oath that President Tinubu graduated with honours and even at that, replacements for lost certificates are done by vendors not the University. “The claim that President Tinubu submitted fake certificate to INEC does not make sense. A man can not forge the academic records he possesses. You can only forge what you don’t have.”
