𝐒𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐋𝐃 𝐇𝐄 𝐓𝐄𝐋𝐋 𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐓𝐑𝐔𝐓𝐇 ? hikaru is perched atop a rock, glancing down at the woman from his vantage point. she looks a little scuffed up . . . a few scratches here and there but otherwise fine. after getting a decent idea of the state of her he makes his way off the rock, landing at her side. his hand raises to rub the back of his neck, albeit a bit nervously. he'd simply been practicing new jutsu, stuff he'd picked up from the last town he'd stayed in. he hadn't seen her there !! closing the fan in his hand he sighs before leaning down and offering her a hand, begrudgingly.

𝐌𝐀𝐘𝐁𝐄 𝐇𝐄 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐒𝐈𝐌𝐏𝐋𝐘 𝐁𝐄𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐊𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐒. the man's words shoot annoyance and irritation through his body. a glare is shot down at the other, peering down at the man through the tree branches. currently the jinchuriki is clinging to the tree. the goal was to remain hidden and stay hidden but it didn't take long for the akatsuki member to spot him. the other seems more disappointed than anything and it's moments like this hikaru wonders what he must have done in a past life to deserve this current one. claw like nails cling to the bark, hanging his head as his predicament sets in.

this wasn't his first time facing an akatsuki member but luckily each time he'd barely managed to escape. this man he'd never met face to face before but he'd heard of him, whispers and rumors. closer up like this he's even more intimidating than hikaru would've guessed.

𝐍𝐎 𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐒 𝐔𝐏 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐉𝐈𝐍𝐂𝐇𝐔𝐑𝐈𝐊𝐈'𝐒. it makes you an outcast, a defender of a monster. who wants to be labeled like that ? it's their third night in this small village and as always, word had gotten around about hikaru's presence. it took all but a few hours for he and the anbu to be kicked out. normally, hikaru would leave before it ever got to this point but he'd gotten side tracked by his shadow. the squirrel is hard to ignore most days. back facing the village now, hikaru shows no signs of resentment nor sadness. it was simply the life he was destined to live. no one ever stuck their neck out for him . . . not until this anbu showed up. he'd been vocal the entire time but hikaru had shushed him, peacefully leaving the village with little hassle.

crystal gaze lands on the anbu, eyes wide. hikaru isn't exactly sure how he should respond. while he agrees with the sentiment, it's not the world they inhabit. peace is a fantasy. forcing his gaze forward, hikaru shrugs. ❛ it's how the world works, my world at least. it's always been this way . . . it does you no good to work yourself up over it. ❜ he hopes they can leave it at that.

𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐘𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐌𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐒 𝐒𝐎 𝐐𝐔𝐈𝐂𝐊𝐋𝐘. one minute things were calm and the next akira is shuffling him toward a hidden enclave that is mostly out of view. the other seems so insistent on hikaru not moving from this spot. but on instinct the jinchuriki reaches out, almost grabbing at akira's anbu jacket but he just barely misses, watching as the other's back fades through the foliage. it was them, wasn't it ? and here hikaru was hiding like a child instead of helping. but akira would be angry if he moved, wouldn't be ?

crystal eyes narrow, attempting to get a better view of what's going on. it's then he see's akira go flying, his back hitting the trunk of a large tree. hikaru goes rigid, fear overwhelming him. what was he to do ? just watch as akira fought them off ? that doesn't seem right, to hide like a coward. without another thought hikaru stands and moves from his hiding spot, waving his hands.

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐉𝐈𝐍𝐂𝐇𝐔𝐑𝐈𝐊𝐈 𝐖𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐊𝐋𝐄𝐒 𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐍𝐎𝐒𝐄. the guy never knows when to shut up. and quite frankly he's sick of only have 'squirrel' as a code name to grumble. he feels ridiculous calling the grown man a name meant for a furry rodent. shooting a glare in the anbu's direction he shakes his head, turning his attention back to the river where he was gathering water in a jug. he could truly careless what the guy looks like under the mask. what did it matter to him ? maybe he had a huge nose or crooked teeth. the thought alone makes him feel a bit better. he stands and places a lid over the container before fully facing the anbu.

❛ even if you are somehow beautiful under that stupid mask what does it matter to me ? ❜ with that he moves past his shadow, bumping shoulders with him before making his way down the path. they have a long journey ahead of them and it'd be best to keep it moving.

𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐌𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓 𝐒𝐀𝐘 𝐒𝐎. spitting onto the ground blood drips down his chin, eye sight wanning. he's lucky haru had shown up. sure, hikaru was a jinchuuriki but he hadn't grown up as a ninja, learning jutsu's and taijutsu like others had. hikaru could hold his own in a fight with someone at a regular skill level but the akatsuki weren't exactly that, now where they ? even haru had a hard time fending them off but clearly they'd been called back somewhere . . . at least that's what it'd seemed like. but he knows this won't be the last time he sees them . . . not by a long shot.

stumbling he grabs onto a tree, the sleeve of his kimono slipping off his shoulder. too much blood . . . okami is working overtime in an attempt to heal him. but it'd take a minute for him to be stable. sliding down to his bottom hikaru coughs, blood splattering across his palm before looking up at haru. ❛ t - thanks . . . for coming. ❜

𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐈𝐒𝐍'𝐓 𝐇𝐎𝐖 𝐈𝐓 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐒𝐔𝐏𝐏𝐎𝐒𝐄𝐃 𝐓𝐎 𝐆𝐎. despite their differences, the arguing, the fighting . . . haru actually having to protect him with their life wasn't on his wishlist. the moment those red clouds came into view hikaru could feel his heart sink. what the hell where they doing here ?! it's an inn for crying out loud !! hikaru was almost certain the akatsuki were anything but human, never stopping to sleep or eat with just how quickly they got around. while this relationship haru and hikaru had found themselves in wasn't ideal, at the end of the day it was haru's job to protect him. but that simply didn't sit right with him. at all.

without thinking he'd stepped in front of haru, normally bright eyes narrowed directly at the cloaked individuals. they want him right ? then why play this song and dance ? the hokage had mentioned many times how ' important ' he was. but was he really worth dying over to protect ? hikaru frowns, glaring back at haru who is fixated on the akatsuki.

crossing his arms, now hidden inside his kimono he shrugs, removing his glare from the stranger to look at akira. ❛ if you'd like to get rid of some pent up frustration . . . then sure, have at it. ❜ waving a hand dismissively he'd rather not spend anymore time on this man but, he also wouldn't mind watching akira kick the guys ass.

𝐁𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐃 𝐎𝐍 𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐅𝐀𝐂𝐄 ? hikaru's hand raises to touch his face and when he pulls the hand away sure enough there's blood smeared onto his palm. again the hand roams his features to find the source before he winces, feeling a cut along his cheek. how'd he . . . oh. it was common for hikaru to . . . let off steam in a wooded area. he'd just returned from his little trip and he must have been hit by a branch or something without realizing. due to the beast his cut is already partially healed so, he does his best to wipe away the rest of the blood.

𝐓𝐎𝐎 𝐋𝐎𝐔𝐃. when his eyes finally force themselves open the stranger is standing over him, their expression almost confused . . . maybe concerned ? he groans, his entire body in pain. it takes a moment or so before hikaru can piece together what'd happened. one minute he'd been traveling and the next . . . the akatsuki. he must have just barely made it. used up too much of his chakra in the fight, even for him. it'd been . . . itachi ? he's almost certain of it.

but now he's scrambling to sit up, eyes wide as he scans the area. their chakra's are long gone . . . it's just him and the stranger now. ❛ m'fine, you don't need to stand so close. ❜ with a frown he finally manages to get to his feet, cuts and scuffs all over his skin but otherwise he seems alright. the tailed beasts chakra certainly helps speed up the healing process. ❛ who're you ? how'd you find me ? ❜

𝐇𝐈𝐊𝐀𝐑𝐔 𝐅𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐔𝐑𝐆𝐄 𝐓𝐎 𝐒𝐍𝐀𝐏 𝐀𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐎𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑. the jinchūriki wasn't one to hide his anger or frustration. often it came out like the ocean, waves of anger building into one big natural disaster. but they'd been through this before, over and over again. it seems that haru is at their breaking point and hikaru is tired of hiding. whipping his head to look at haru he frowns, gaze narrowed. that side of himself . . . it often surfaced at the worst times. and now was no different. the blue of his eyes have darkened, chakra building in his gut. had his canines . . . extended ?

❛ the truth . . . once you know the truth you'll want nothing to do with me. ❜ just like the rest of them. but haru's expression . . . he knows the other won't relent until he gets an answer. ❛ i . . . i'm the holder of the six tailed beast. ❜ now hikaru has his body turned away from him. all his life people had left and abandoned him as soon as they found it out. why would haru be any different ? they already butted heads constantly . . . this would just give him a reason to leave. the silence weighs on hikaru's shoulders and he can feel the tip of his fang digging into his lip. ❛ that's the truth. ❜
