Prideshipping

I answered on my sideblog but hear me out on this:

Seto and Yami Yuugi/Atem are set up from the get-go to be eternal rivals. It's clear from the very beginning that Seto takes this far more personally than Yami Yuugi/Atem ever did; being defeated by some... some punk-ass kid with his grandpa's deck was a spit in the face to him. The world's top-ranked duelist got his ass handed to him by some loser who came to avenge his grandfather. It was an affront to his reputation; an affront to god. It became an obsession. You can really play with that dynamic. Is Seto truly fixated on Yami/Atem for that, or is it because he's finally met his equal? Is their destiny to become rivals in every lifetime, or are they more than that? The ambiguity really gives it a lot of allure plus like c'mon they're iconic together; they're next to each other on like practically every ygo tcg art box that involves the OGs!! So it's something that I personally highly adore and have spent way too much time reading fanfictions of in community college.

IS THAT WHAT IT'S CALLED??? imo I like the ship but not as much a I like, say, prideshipping / darkshipping / casteshipping, hell even goldshipping. I fully support it but it doesn't capture me as much as the other two do.

Darkshipping is definitely one of my top three Bakura ships. And Yami Yuugi/Atem ships. It embodies the enemies to lovers trope which personally I am quite a fan of. There’s so many different ways you can take it that it’s just so good.
