He really tried hard not to think about anything, to just enjoy the silence, but he kept glancing over at the little leather-bound notebook his mate had gotten him a while ago. Poems always came easier to him when they were hand-written. And though this one had been begging to be written out for a while, somehow Louis didn’t feel lighter, now that it had been spilled across the pages.

It’s supposed to be cold. The snow. Yet the only thing making me shiver Is the memory of your lips on mine. And the only thing keeping me warm Is the brightness of the landscape Covered in a thick white blanket Not unlike the weighted duvet That keeps me company in My lonesome retreat.

It’s supposed to be nice. Christmas. Yet the only thing I feel is regret. The memory of your fingers brushing mine. And what’s taken me here is that I could not hide my folly from anyone. I was imagining us wrinkly and white While you thought about How to let me down light. You failed miserably.
