            ❛❛ quick, get in here! ❜❜ hand darting out to grab zeller’s shoulder, daphne yanked him into the closet, closing the closet just in time to hear the front door open. the front door to an apartment that was definitely not theirs. as she held her breath, daphne’s eyes slowly adjusted to the darkness in this tiny space, cramped with shoeboxes and overflowing with coats. and of course, there was also zee, pressed close enough to her front that she could feel his every inhale. 

he was looking down at her with that look again, the one that made her go all wobbly inside. as she inhaled slowly, all she could smell was him –– and all she could think about were zee’s lips. ❛❛ I... ❜❜ she whispered, leaning into him. and then the door slammed. the lights outside the closet had gone dark again.  it was safe to come back out. ❛❛ we... we should get out of here before he comes back. ❜❜

it wasn’t really a question. they both knew the answer. but, at least flirting with her boyfriend was a great distraction from everything going on.
