Original TV Anime Skate-Leading Stars 1st PV Announces July 2020 Premiere, OP Song by Takuo Sakuma

    The official website for the forthcoming figure skating-themed original TV anime Skate-Leading Stars has started streaming a 65-second first PV to announce its premiere in Japan in July 2020. You can also listen to the anime's OP song "Chase the core" performed by the ex-Fo'xTails singer Takao Sakuma.

  The four-member rock band Fo'xTails disbanded in August 2018 after its four-year activities releasing seven singles and one album from Lantis. "Chase the core" is written/composed/arranged by R・O・N and will be released as Sakuma's solo singer debut single from Lantis on July 15, 2020. 

  Toshinori Fukushima (MAJOR) is attached to direct alongside the general director Goro Taniuchi (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion) and the original character designer Yana Toboso (Black Butler manga series). J.C.STAFF (A Certain Magical Index, Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?) works on anime production.

    Synopsis:

  "You'll never beat me." Kensei Maeshima quit figure skating after the words from his rival Reo Shinozaki. A few years later, when Maeshima becomes a high school student, he makes use of his motor nerves to spent his days as a helper in various club activities without devoting himself to anything. One day, he watches a press conference in which his rival Shinozaki switches from a single skater to the skate-leading, an original figure skate team competition. Then, a boy named Hayato Sasugai appears in front of him. He also seems to know that Maeshima had previously performed as a single skater, and invites him to the world of the skate-leading, saying "I need you."

Story Of Skate-Leading☆Stars: Kensei Maeshima quit figure skating after a rival told him, "You'll never beat me." Years later, he uses his athleticism to assist several high school teams, never focusing on just one. When his opponent publicly announces his intention to switch to a team sport, a kid familiar with Kensei's past finds him and invites him to lace up his skates and join the world of skate-leading.

Synopsis of Skate-Leading☆Stars English Subbed

Kensei Maeshima, a child figure skating prodigy, abruptly quits the sport after his one-sided rival, Reo Shinozaki, refuses to recognise his talent. Kensei now attends Inodai High School and uses his athletic abilities to help the other sports teams, but he never officially joins one. One day, Reo announces his transition from singles figure skating to team-based skate-leading and joins St. Clavis Gakuin High School, the Grand Prix champions from the previous year. Hayato Sasugai, a classmate with an enigmatic connection to Reo, persuades Kensei to switch to skateboarding in order to finally beat his rival in a competition. Kensei's unexpected entrance into the Inodai Skate-Leading Club is met with hostility from the club's current members. Kensei is a strong singles skater, but he lacks the teamwork skills needed to perform well in skate-leading. Kensei's teammates do not believe he is a good fit to be their "Lead" because of his hot-headed, impatient attitude, inconsistent skating performances, and a complicated history with some of the members. However, in order to qualify for the Grand Prix Finals and possibly defeat St. Clavis Gakuin, the team must work together to resolve these issues.

Skate-Leading Stars Gets Stage Play Adaptation in October 2021

    After the broadcast of its final 12th episode in Japan last night, it was officially announced that a stage play adaptation of the figure skating-themed original TV anime Skate-Leading Stars is set to be performed at Shinagawa Prince Hotel Stellar Ball in Tokyo in October 2021.

  The J.C. Staff (A Certain Magical Index, Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?)-animated series depicted high school boys who are competing in a fictional figure skating team competition called "Skate-Leading." Goro Taniuchi (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion) serves as the general director, and Yana Toboso (Black Butler manga series) provided the original character designs.

  The upcoming stage play will be written/directed by Kazuhito Yoneyama (Space Battleship Tiramisu stage play) at 4cu (Hetalia musicals). 22-year-old Ryoki Nagae, best known for his portrayal as Italy in the Hetalia musicals from 2015 to 2017 and Rampo Edogawa in the Bungo Stray Dogs stage plays from 2017 to 2020, is cast as the protagonist Kensei Maeshima.

  Further details including how the competition will be recreated on stage will be announced at a later date.

  Synopsis:

  Kensei Maeshima left the world of figure skating after his rival said, “You’ll never beat me.” Years later, he’s using his athleticism to help several high school teams, never focusing on one. But when his adversary publicly announces a shift to a team sport, a kid familiar with Kensei’s past finds and offers him an invitation to lace up his skates and join the world of skate-leading.
