I just checked the jp version. In the jp version Loid said 「頑丈すぎる.....!!!ヨルさんの蛮行に晒され続けた結果なのか？」/ “He's so tough...! Is this the result of being continuously exposed to Yor's barbaric strength?”

Idk but this is so funny to me. This also proves that Loid / Twilight is totally aware of Yor's super strength but still doesn't see or think of it as suspicious or weird. Or maybe he actually did think it was weird for a "NORMAL" city hall clerk to have that kind of strength but he's keeping a blind eye to all of Yor's red flags so he could keep her as his wife.

Belated SxF ch86 review! I’m still not over how good the chapter was! There’s so many good scenes and little details so here’s a list of everything that I really loved about the chapter!

*Spoilers for SxF ch86*

- Twilight and Nightfall’s conversation in the sewers. How she knew his ‘for the mission’ speech was an official explanation and not his true feelings

- Senior WISE agent calling Twilight “Ta-bo” aka Tasogare boy

- Twilight refusing to go get drinks bc he wanted to go back home and clear up the gripes with Yor

- Twilight’s melancholic thoughts and expression before he entered the apartment

- Yor having a halo around her from Twilight’s POV

- Twilight unintentionally relaxing, letting his guard down and collapsing in front of Yor

- The first thing Twilight asked about was Anya’s whereabouts

- Twilight and Yor clearing up their misunderstanding about the gripes

- Twilight asking Yor to help with the housework which made Yor very happy

- Yor’s gripe was having no real gripes bc of the way Loid tried to take everything on himself

- The heartwarming conversation between Loid and Yor. Everything about this scene was so good!

- The way Twilight addresses Yor directly in his mind like he wants to tell her how he truly feels but he can’t

- In Japanese, Twilight’s 「でもわヨルさん　オレは」 is just very soft and intimate

- Twilight’s “which is why…” and how it parallels Yor’s conviction from the Cruise arc

- Twilight immediately being on guard and standing up when Yuri burst in

- Yuri’s excuse for his injuries “being bodyslammed by his supervisor”

- Yor and Loid being in the kitchen together

- Yuri’s sharp instinct almost exposed Twilight but Twilight was one step ahead

- Yor making Yuri go home in favour of letting Loid rest despite Yuri being injured too. She’s setting up boundaries.

- Twilight angsty shower scene. Bless Endo-sensei!

- The way Twilight didn’t even treat his wound first really showed that he was in a rush to get home

- It’s hard to tell how late it was when Loid got home but I really liked that Yor waited for him. She put Anya to bed so it wouldn’t be too strange if she got ready for bed too. But she was still in day clothes so she was worried about him too.

This chapter/arc has been wonderful! There’s so much to unpack and talk about so expect more posts in the upcoming days! 👍🏼

Song of Yoru&Asa English/Japanese comparisons

Sometimes I try to read the Japanese version of Yoru&Asa (I don't really fully understand much) but it's sometimes interesting to see the original which might have more nuance or context or possible translations than the official one. This isn't any criticism of the translators btw - they have to make a lot of tough decisions (e.g. accuracy vs. vibes).

"The Song of Yoru and Asa" / "よるとあさの歌" ("yoru to asa no uta")

Kind of an obvious one, but "Yoru" means night and "Asa" means morning. So the title of the book and their relationship pairing is Yoru & Asa (ヨル・朝) but also Night & Morning (夜・朝). Which makes sense for their hair colors too, you know? Related, this is why the Chainsaw Man characters are named Yoru and Asa. They're not named after this YoruAsa or vice versa, it's more of an opposites/complements thing.

"Jesus Christ" / "うわっ………" ("uwah…")

"せやろ" ("seyaro") and "いいんやで" ("iinyade")

Both of these use Kansai dialect ("seya" = "sō dayo"; "yade" = "dayo") which maybe means that Asaichi and Yoru are from the general region around Osaka/Kobe/Kyoto. I'm not really familiar enough with Kansai dialect to tell if he uses it in other places in the books or if it just came out in his dream. Or maybe he just picked up Kansai dialect from somewhere else? I don't know.

"We're roomies" / "同棲…" ("dōsei…")

The word Yoru uses is "dosei" which means cohabitation but usually for an unmarried couple so I read it as him being excited like "we're taking the next step in our relationship :0"

"Keep it in your pants!" / "調子のんな" ("chōshi nonna")

I never really understood the "keep it in your pants" in this context so I looked up the original Japanese and it basically means "Don't get carried away" or "Don't push your luck." Asaichi likes to hear Yoru confirm he loves him but tells Yoru not to be cocky when Yoru asks if Asaichi loves him too lol

"Of course I do" / "すきだよちゃんと" ("suki da yo chanto")

The English translation makes total sense but I like the Japanese more (it translates to something like "of course I love you") because he actually says the word "love" ("suki") itself. Which is even more definitive and romantic, imo.

"Wait! Wait!" / "ちがう、ちがう" ("chigau chigau")

"Chigau" means to differ, to be wrong, to be mistaken. In the panel before this, Asaichi says "I love girls like you," so Yoru is being like "you're mistaken." It comes across less as unwillingness and more as a warning, imo.

"God! You're weird! And clingy! Like, really clingy!" / "いや！キモい！重い！重いわお前！" ("iya! kimoi!! omoi!! omoi wa omae!")

The literal meaning of "omoi" is "heavy." So when Asaichi finds out Yoru dropped out of school and joined a band because of him, he's like goddamn that's way too heavy and intense. Also, "kimoi" is usually translated as "gross" so Asaichi reeeally got the ick from Yoru in that moment lol. Anyway the translators probably used a more context-based translation but I thought the more literal and common definitions were interesting too.

"bae" vs "babe" / 彼ピ vs 彼ピッピ ("karepi" vs "karepippi")

"Did you know bae and babe don't actually mean the same thing?" I was curious about the original meaning. The words used in Japanese were karepi (slang for "boyfriend") and karepippi (it can be even cutesier slang for boyfriend but I think the meaning Kayoi is referring to is "almost boyfriend," basically a situationship afaict).

"Yoru… Is Yoru still out there?" / "アイツ… アイツなにしてんだ…" ("aitsu… aitsu nani shtenda…")

A more direct translation is "That guy… What is that guy doing…" He says "aitsu" ("that guy") instead of referring by Yoru by name. Actually, even once they're dating, Asaichi often refers to Yoru as koitsu, soitsu, aitsu (this guy, that guy).

In the English version, Yoru's internal monologue is partly blocked by Yoru and Asaichi:

God, he looked so hot … finally did it for the first time in our … we even locked eyes while we did it! … azing, I thought I was gonna die …h! Normally he's the only one … cum mu …

In the Japanese version, every character is readable:

"Moan for me. I said, moan!" / "声出せ。出せって" ("koe dase. dasette)

Kind of a small thing but the verb for sex vocalizations doesn't usually translate well directly from Easian languages. He's using the casual imperative (command) form of 声を出す (to speak; to say; to vocalize). 声 means voice, 出 means come out, exit, go out, etc. so like "let out your voice."

"bottom" / ネコ ("neko")

I literally just realized why there's a paw print background behind Yoru in the second panel. The word for "bottom" in Japanese is "neko," which also means cat. (If you're thinking "I thought 'uke' was the word for bottom?", it is actually only used to describe dynamics in BL pairings.

"Sure, but… The guys are here." / "いいけど…いるよ" ("ii kedo… iru yo")

Not really anything super insightful here but the super concise "ii kedo… iru yo" is so funny to me. And isn't it cool that "The guys are here, you know" can be condensed down to "iruyo" in Japanese? Just the verb for "exists" + yo sentence-ending particle ("you know"). Japanese is a very context-dependent language so the subject is often left off.

箏（支配人）

36期で1番好きな役者さんは？と聞かれたら、間違いなくルーベを挙げます。オムニから１番好きです。ルーベの演技を見ると、私はいつも何故か目が引き寄せられて、離せなくなります。舞台上にルーベがいると、そのシーンがパッと鮮やかになる。ただそこにいるだけで、ルーベを目で追っちゃう。その空気感が作れるのは、ルーベ自身の温かさに普段からのコツコツ努力が合わさっているからだと思います。今��の役、心から尊敬しているし、色んな人にルーベの魅力を自慢したいです。一緒に頑張ろうね。

森々仙入（ミライ１）

36期のお兄さん的役割を見事に果たしていると思います。普段はわちゃわちゃしたり、中心で笑わせてくれたりしますが、ふとした時に大人びていて、同期を見守っている感じがします。���ムダの演技は元気が出ます。他の人には出せないエネルギーを纏っていて、それをお客さんに届ける力が凄いです。誰かがしないといけないことを、誰かが気づく前にやっていて、それが出来るのは普段から周りを良く見ている証拠だな、と思ったりもします。一緒に頑張ろうね。

月銀蓮（ミライ２）

我らが幕チの役者姿が見られて本当に嬉しいです。普段は落ち着いた雰囲気なのに、舞台上で弾けます。あのふり幅はどこから出てくるのでしょうか。心に秘めているのでしょうか。アネモネのツッコミは面白さと他の人にはない着眼点をもっていて、「そこからくるのか！」といつも驚きます。今回の役、本当にハマってます。アネモネ以外のミライ２は考えられないし、アネモネだからミライ２は舞台上で輝いているんだろうなと思います。一緒に頑張ろうね。

白（ミライ３）

最初の印象は、同じ西の人。けんけんけんけん言っても意味が通じる人。今？今は違う世界の人です。ぶらんだけ並行世界にいます。でもそれがぶらんの魅力だと思います。他の人には思いつかないアイディアだったり、考えだったりが次から次へと溢れてくるので、話していると面白いです。ミライ３、めっちゃ良いです。新しいぶらんが見れて、こんな役も出来るの！って、あのシーンが来る前はいつもわくわくしています。一緒に頑張ろうね。

埖麦（ミライ４）

たぶんすごく優しくて、よく周りを見てる人。そんな気がします。でもそれを表に出さないから、皆むぎと話しやすいし、自分の気遣いを誰かに押し付けることがないのもむぎの良さだなと思います。シーンの空気感をつくったり、動きや感情のコントロールが天才的に上手いです。しょーもない話を真剣に聞いてくれて、爆笑してくれるのが嬉しいです。ミライ４は36期でむぎしか出来ないと思っています。自分を大事にしてね。一緒に頑張ろうね。

叶イブ（通行人）

ふぃーちゃん。可愛い可愛いべびちゃんです。でも舞台上に上がると一気に雰囲気を変えて、ふぃあにしか出せない声でふぃあにしか出せない雰囲気をつくり出します。体験稽古・鯛焼きと一緒になれて、仲良くなれて、話していると謎の安心感が生まれて、ずっと側にいたくなります。普段から一人でコツコツ努力する姿を稽古場で見て、本当に努力家な子だなと尊敬するし、そんなふぃあが大好きです。荒通しで初めて通行人を見たときの衝撃は忘れられない��す。早くあの衝撃をお客さんに味わってほしいな。ほんまに大好きなんです。一緒に頑張ろうね。

ポンにゃ（バンド仲間A、妹）

なびを見るとハートが溢れてきます。会話の中で裏表を感じさせなくて、思ったことを隠さず言ってくれるので、話していると凄く凄く安心します。私は人の”声”が好きなので、オムニの読み合わせで初めてなびの声を聞いて、この子と絶対仲良くなりたいと思ったし、鯛焼きで一緒だと分かった時はめちゃめちゃ舞い上がってました。なびはよく人を褒めてくれます。私もその１人で、どんなに嫌なこととかブルーなことがあっても、なびの言葉で吹っ飛ぶのは、なびがよく人を見ているからだと思います。本当に凄い力です。一緒に頑張ろうね。

雨々単元気（バンド仲間B、友達）

てにと話すと、本当に優しい人なんだなと感じます。相手の言葉をちゃんと受け止めて、表情や仕草を見てくれて、その上で相手とテンポの良い会話が出来るのが凄いです。あ、でもなつめと話すと少し雰囲気が変わるので、そこも見ていて楽しいです。てにの演技は記憶から離れません。一度見たら忘れられない、そんな演技ができること、本当に尊敬しています。今回の役もてにの良さが前面に押し出されていて、舞台上で活き活きしているてにを見るとこっちまでわくわくします。一緒に頑張ろうね。

紫苑（バンド仲間C）

新人で沢山の新しいなつめに出会いました。そんなこともできるのって、なつめの秘めたるパワー全開なあの場面がめっちゃ好きです。いつもニコニコしてくれるので、なつめと話すと自然と口角が上がっています。みんなを笑顔にできることは、なつめの凄いところです。バンド仲間Cはなつめだから成り立ってて、なつめがいてこそのあのバンドなんだろうなと思います。なつめの力でお客さんもニコニコにしてね。一緒に頑張ろうね。

暁レミエル（元カノ、母親）

この新人期間で1番びっくりさせられた役者さんです。成長速度が凄まじい。兼役という難しい役割を簡単そうにこなせるのは、えるの毎日の努力の成果だと思います。凄いです。前も言ったことあるけど、えるは聞き上手です。えるに向けて話していると、真剣に話を聞いてくれて同調してくれていることがよく伝わります。だから話しやすいし、ついついボケてしまいます。へへっ。えるがちゃうかにいてくれて良かったな、宣美チで良かったな、と制作チとして思うことも沢山あります。一緒に頑張ろうね。

熊吉（父親）

ちゃうか楽しいって熊ちゃんが言ってくれる度に心の中で小躍りしてます。分かる、楽しいよね。今回の役、ハマるハマる。熊ちゃんにしか出来ない動きや空気感で舞台が明るくなります。熊ちゃんもちゃうか努力家メンバーの一人です。たくさん書き込まれた台本を見た時に、公演への熱意が伝わってきて、尊敬が止まりませんでした。真面目な人でもあります。でもきっと、これからどんどんちゃうかに染まっていくんだ〜〜〜楽しみ。一緒に頑張ろうね。

張潤玲（店員）

日本語のうまさは他の人が書いてくれているので、敢えて別の話し��いな。マモは優しい人です。そしてお姉ちゃんです。マモの前だと私は気を張らずに、どーでも良いことをペラペラ喋ることが出来ます。思い返したら、私たち最近ご飯の話しかしてないかも。昨日もマック食べたよ。ご飯大事だもんね（笑）マモがあず〜って近寄ってきてくれたり、名前を呼んでくれる度にすごくすごく嬉しくなって、妹感ましましの笑顔になってしまいます。それが出来るのはマモがとにかく優しくて、受け止めてくれるからです。一緒に頑張ろうね。

和來（今カノ）

なこちゃん。きなこちゃん。体験稽古に行った時、合宿で一緒に弾けた時、落ち葉でハート作った時、全部きなこと一緒だったから楽しかったし幸せでした。可愛いところは勿論だけど、私はきなこの意思がはっきりしている所が凄く好きです。ふわふわな中に芯があるので、話していてとても心地良いです。きなこは舞台上で化けるタイプです。アドリブ力も高くて、きなこから学ぶことが沢山あります。いつも仲良くしてくれて、本当に嬉しいしもっともっと大好きになります。一緒に頑張ろうね。

鞠凸二郎（おじさん）

はぜを見るとお疲れ様ですって言いたくなります。常に大量のタスクをこなしています。お願いだからパンクする前に人に振ってください。人に振れるっていうのは中心に立つ人でしか出来ない仕事です。おじさん、良いです。はぜにしか出来ないです、だから色々言っちゃうこともあったんです。だって出来るじゃん、てか今出来てんじゃん。36期ではぜにしか出来ない役を、お客さんに見せつけて欲しいです。相変わらず周りをよく見てます。是非、推しをつくりましょう。きっとはぜの癒しになるよ。映像過去一カッコいいです。一緒に頑張ろうね。

実は、意外とちゃんと話したことがなかったので今回たくさん話せて本当に嬉しいです。セイロンは感情の受け取りが上手だなと思います。日常でも舞台上でもそう。誰かが発した言葉や行動をうまーく受け取ってくれるので、つい頼ってしまいます。セイロンの優しさだね。ヨルがセイロンで良かったと心から思うし、セイロンだから私は自信を持ってアサが出来ます。演技は言わずもがな、動きがすごく分かりやすくて新人でセイロンからたくさん勉強しました。最近可愛いです。一緒に頑張ろうね。

海月（演出・照明オペ）

スミには最大級の感謝をしても足りないくらいのありがとうを伝えたいです。稽古場が楽しかったのも、誰一人欠けることなく公演が打てるのも、笑顔で本番を迎えられるのも、全部全部スミのお陰です。スミは『みんな』を1番に考えてくれます。だから私たちみんなは、スミについていきたくなります。『この椅子どけて』の1部となれたことを誇りに思います。スミの良さが溢れ出た稽古で、宝物な1ヶ月間をくれて本当に本当にありがとう。新人が終わったらたくさん好きなことしてね、自分を労ってね。一緒に頑張ろうね。

らいちゃんの頑張りを自慢したいです。本当に凄いんです。どれだけ自分が大変でも、お家にいたくても、ちゃうかのことを1番に考えてくれます。それって中々できることじゃないです。いつもありがとう。今回は演技指導もしてくれて、らいらに助けられた人が沢山いると思います。らいちゃんと話していると、どうでも良い話も真面目な話も全部落ち着けている自分がいます。私はその時の自分が結構好きです。まだまだ開拓したいお店沢山あるもんね、お家近い者同士これからも色んなところ行こう。一緒に頑張ろうね。

城戸大夢（音響オペ）

まだまだ知らない所が沢山ある人です。でも、オームの周りからは優しいオーラが溢れ出ているなといつも思います。話していると、こちらが話し終えるのを待ってくれていることが伝わってきて、マシンガントークしやすいです。勉強を教えることがうまい、と聞きました。相手のことを1番に考えている証拠だと思います。そして音響のセンスがとても良いです。どうやって見つけるのかまた教えてね。オペありがとう。一緒に頑張ろうね。

色々書いちゃいました、いいよね新人だから。昨日の深夜に投稿しようと思ったら気づいたらアサが来ていました。

Song of Yoru and Asa Toranoana leaflet!!

I scoured the second-hand BL goods shops of Tokyo and was able to get my hands on the leaflet from its release that came with copies sold at Toranoana, which contains AsaYoru content I have never seen before, so I scanned it to share with you all.

The summary is that Futsu found a site with reader-insert fanfiction (夢小説) of the band, where readers can type in their own name to set the name of the protagonist of the story. Later, Asaichi finds Yoru reading Asaichi x reader fan fiction.
