Was “The Blue Whisper” actually a low-budget production... or did they spend all their money on paying the leading actors? I’m so confused because it has two very popular leads but the sets and the CGI look so cheap. As show set in a fantasy world with mystical creatures and locations, it is obvious it needs a lot of un-real sets, locations and items, and therefore, also uses a lot of CGI. But if you compare it to high-quality productions such as Ancient Love Poetry - undoubtfully one of the very most beautiful Chinese dramas despite using a lot of CGI and fake sets, only rivaled but shows such as General’s Lady that mostly worked with real sets and barely any CGI - The Blue Whisper does look like a joke. Even the costumes look cheap and it makes it quite hard for me here to get into it because popular faces don’t sell shows to me, especially if I don’t think either of those two popular faces are thaaaaat good as viewers claim them to be.
