An Ordinary Trainee’s Tteokguk Making (ENGLISH TRANSLATION) Part 1 of 2

On January 1st, my mom went to the countryside, so I couldn’t eat tteokguk.

But if I don’t eat tteokguk, my mom will be sad, so I decided to make it myself.

As soon as I woke up, I woke up the youngest, who always helps me with my cooking.

They didn’t want to, but I forced them to wake up because I needed to take pictures.

Time to make tteokguk and get a year older! Let’s go!

First, I went to buy ingredients. Got everything.

Happened to wake up at 5:30 AM and went to buy the ingredients.

But there was no tteokguk rice cakes, so I bought tteokbokki rice cakes instead.

When I gathered all the ingredients, they looked pretty.

I wondered why the apple was there, so I just ate it.

Making the seasoning sauce.

Mixing it.

Coated the meat with the seasoning sauce and threw it into the frying pan.

Then, I threw the rice cakes and dumplings into the beef bone broth.

Forgot to take process shots.

Once it boils vigorously, add green onions.

But there weren’t enough green onions, so I quickly chopped and added more.

By the way, isn’t the leopard-print pajamas I got as a gift cool?

But with the subtitles added, it kinda looks like a bishoujo dating simulation game.

Except, I’m not a bishoujo.

Anyway, let’s keep going!

(note: Bishoujo (美少女) is a Japanese term that means “beautiful young girl.” It is often used in anime, manga, and games to describe attractive, youthful female characters.)

Cutting the egg garnish I made earlier.

Suddenly, the seaweed popped out.

Final topping shot complete.

Tasted it.

It tasted just right.

Took a picture of our youngest tasting it.

But since the photo was taken right after waking up and didn’t look great, I applied a soft-focus effect.

All done.

First, I scooped out the dumplings.

Placed the meat, egg garnish, and green onions on top, then sprinkled seaweed flakes.

It’s complete! Looks delicious, right?

On January 1st, my mom went to the countryside so I couldn’t eat rice cake soup-Jin (TN: Eating rice cake soup on New Years Day is a Korean tradition as it’s “believed” to bring the person who eats it good luck for the year and make them a year older) But even so, if I don’t eat rice cake soup my mom would be sad so I decided to make it As soon as I woke up, I woke up the maknae that always helps me with my cooking Even though he said he didn’t want to, I forced him to wake up. I woke him up because he needs to take the pictures Making rice cake soup to become a year older ㄱㄱㄱ

(First off, I went to buy ingredients. They’re all bought I woke up at 5 in the morning to buy the ingredients-Jin But there weren’t any rice cakes for rice cake soup so I just bought ddeokbokki rice cakes The ingredients look pretty after bringing them together)

I wondered why the apple was there so I just ate it

(And toss the rice cakes and dumplings into the beef bone marrow soup. I forgot to take a picture of the process One it starts to boil a lot, add the green onions)

(But there weren’t enough green onions so I hastily sliced and put more in But aren’t my leopard print pajamas that I got as a gift cool?)

But because I put in the captions it seems like some kind of young girl’s dating simulation game But I’m not a young girl Anyways, again ㄱㄱ

It’s enough-Jin I took a picture of our makdoongie tasting it (T/N: “Makdoongie” is a cute way of saying “maknae”) But because the picture was taken as soon as he woke up, he looked ugly so I photoshopped it

While eating, I realised that there was a lot So I woke up Rapmon and ate together He gave me a compliment about it being tasty. I was happy

…For a moment What do I do about the dishes What do I mean what do I do, I ordered the maknae (to do it) But during it I felt sorry so in the middle of it we passed the baton..

ut it seems like my hunger was bigger than my stomach. The cost of the ingredients was over 30 000 won (T/N: About $26 USD). Bought all the salt and green onions, eggs ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ (Give me) some allowance money, Mom.. And I love you Mom. Because you make rice cake soup for us every New Years
