편지- Letter ✍️
Now that the dust has settled, I found a peaceful moment in the afternoon to sit down in silence and listen to Letter while trying to unpack all my thoughts. This lengthy post will be more in the tone of my personal stance and connection with the song, omitting going into too much detail about the grammar and explaining Korean expressions but still I will try to explain how the song makes an impression with the specific language used.
Tumblr media
My reflections:
From the beginning onwards, the song sounds very delicate, while Jimin is singing to us in the polite form and bringing up multiple themes that are characteristic for the ARMY fandom and our path with the boys over the years: the desert, the sea, the cold winter and a warm spring day... He is wishing us to be happier and for this to last forever, while promising to be there when you feel like falling and cherishing all the memories we made together.
In that way, I, as a listener, am in a headspace where I am reminiscing on our story with Jimin as an idol and all we've been through together with him (and trust me, if you have joined just recently, there has been a lot darker times)...
Though as the song progresses and as the refrain comes on, the urgency to express his emotions intensifies together with the instrumental. And this is where Jungkook's vocals come in too. Jimin with the help of Jungkook is suddenly singing in a casual (lower politiness) form as if directly trying to reach out to the person on the listening end individually, addressing every line with a higher intensity and more personally. It just feels more intimate, even more earnest and more powerful. Moreover, the lyrics and chosen words feel more targeted at an individual rather than towards a group (even the scrapped lyrics felt more like he was writing towards a single person in this section).
Whatever the reason for Jungkook's appearance in this part, it makes the emotional impact even more convincing.
....
No matter what angle you may choose, Letter is an incredibly heartfelt track packed with strong emotions. I believe it's a song for ARMY and at the same time it is a song for someone in Jimin's life that has been his lifeline and his strong heart connection to them prompted him to write these lyrics woven with thick emotions.
That being said, Jimin sharing this unique space with Jungkook to support him in his emotional expression with his hidden layered vocals and some more audible backing vocals speaks volumes. Just the fact that Jungkook is present on a track (and on the most intense and personal part of the track) where Jimin is earnestly trying to deliver a message to the listener from the depths of his heart is special, no matter how anyone subjectively wants to interpret the song and its content: Do you think they are singing directly to ARMY? Great! I'd argue having someone that shares the same love and commitment, understands what you're feeling and is able to channel the same emotions as you, and as a testament to your bond you let them contribute to your own artistic expression with theirs, is incredibly precious.
There are things that Jimin will never comment on, so I doubt we will ever find out how this song and Jungkook's feature came to be besides what we already heard. Jimin is incredibly smart in how he tailors his message and communication with the broader audience. Thus, while on the surface the public sees him dancing sensually with female dancers, a longer careful look would give you a view of the half-half makeup and other dichotomies in the choreo/concepts, specifically chosen pieces of clothing, specially crafted details in the performance sets, etc. And the same thing applies to the song Letter too. Only after listening closely, you'll get to uncover layer by layer what lies hidden in this "hidden" track. On top of that, Jungkook casually showing he learnt the chords for this song in a random live broadcast out of nowhere prior to the release of the album just shows there is more to the story than we'll be ever told.
Personally, I will be keeping this song close to my heart and holding onto it until their military service concludes. It has become my own lifeline to my life as a fan and getting to hear Jimin and Jungkook together delivering these precious words is something I will cherish forever 🙏

Can you please help in explaining what jikook is exactly talking about in the last bangtan bomb?? There are so many different translations going around on twitter and some saying it's all lies and wrong translation that jikook didn't talk about smelling like alcohol and its false translation spreading by jkkrs. Some are saying that it's the correct translation and jikook were also talking about alcohol smelling more in the room in the background. Can you pls help what exactly they were talking about?? And what they are saying in the background too?? Thank you.
Hi, thanks for your message.
Once again we got to witness the teasing and close nature of Jimin and Jungkook's relationship.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(side note: the eye whiskers peeking as Jungkook is laughing behind the mask are the cutest 🥹)
Regarding your questions, I will only confirm what I believe to have heard 100%.
》Yes, Jimin was teasing Jungkook about smelling like alcohol, most likely as they were drinking together the night prior or knew about each other drinking that night《
Plus the conversation in the background while Namjoon is arriving continues to be about alcohol, a part of which even the official transcript captures:
Tumblr media
Jungkook (to Namjoon): "Did you drink because Hobi hyung is leaving?" (홉이 형 간다고 술 먹은 거야?)
From the beginning of the scene after Jimin arrives and turns to Jungkook and starts teasing him presumably knowing he was drinking the night prior:
JM: 너야? (Is it you?)
JK: 어? (Huh?)
JM: 너야? (Is it you?)
JK: 응 나야 (Yup it's me)
JM: 술 냄새 나야? 너야? (The alcohol smell, is it me? Is it you?)
JK: 나야😁 (It's me 😁) *they hug*
JK: 술 냄새 나~? (The alcohol smell (it's) me ?!)
....
*The conversation continues, here, however, I am NOT able to say with 100% conviction what else they mention afterwards as their voices fade out. Therefore, I am not going to give an answer I can't stand behind for this part just for the sake of answering.
Their voices become a bit clearer when Namjoon is arriving:
JM (to JK): 남준이 형 눈을 봐... 술 먹고...왜인지 알아.. *laughing* (Look at Namjoonie hyung's eyes... He was drinking... I just know why... [his eyes look like that])
JK: *laughs* 저 형도 술 먹었어? (That hyung drank too?)
JK (to NJ): 홉이 형 간다고 술 먹은 거야? (Did you drink because Hobi hyung is leaving?)*
V: 야~ (Heyy/Ayy)
*only this sentence was transcribed in the video, the rest is my added transcription
As you can see, the background conversation was all in an informal friendly tone (between Jungkook and Jimin but also in general) and they were discussing stuff about alcohol and drinking all along. Even upon spotting Namjoon, Jimin could assess that he was drinking too which he quickly pointed out to Jungkook and Jungkook reacted to that.
I have come across plenty k-army accounts (not necessarily only k-kookminers) who have concluded the same that Jimin and Jungkook were drinking together, judging from the interaction. To me there is no room for any discussion on whether alcohol was discussed. It is pretty clear from the short excerpts that can be heard in regards to them and also Namjoon + the look of their eyes also says it all lol
Hope my answer is sufficient, thanks for your message once again!

"Jimin and Jungkook's casualness isn't anything out of the ordinary but is still surprising"
'지민 (Jimin) Choreography Practice Sketch' write-up ✍️
Tumblr media
Among Jimin's gruesome practice sessions and strict work ethics leading up to Face promotions, we were given a peak into a few moments out of Jungkook's visit on day 2.
What struck me (and even k-armys) is that they didn't even bother to pretend to be formal in front of the staff and camera + crew, which just goes to show how long gone are their age barriers in communication and behavior. Once again I know we are all well aware of this development between them, however it is still a bit surprising seeing that happen in front of strangers- especially at their workplace and during work, which is a formal setting. The significance of this may appear minimal to you but in Korean culture, the way you talk to someone but also what you discuss and how you phrase it is highly influenced by the age hierarchy. Allowing someone speak to you informally (even in the public or formal settings) means they now have the same rank as you and their word is thus referred to/significant on the same level as yours and they can express things way more directly. In a highly hierarchical culture with a strong respect for authority (or anyone above) this presents a disruption in an embedded way of thought and behavior that is in the minds of all Koreans from the very early age. 반말 (banmal) of course does happen among many people even those who are not 친구 (friends- meaning people born in the same year) but it is not something that is just expected automatically and in any social setting. (I am excluding family ties here)
Thus, what the international audience may see and perceive only reading the translated subs:
"Ah cool, Jungkook came and supported Jimin"
Tumblr media
What the Korean audience (or anyone with just a little knowledge of the language and culture) sees and perceives:
"Oh wow they are speaking informally so naturally to each other, they seem so close"
Tumblr media
JK: "I'll cheer for/ support (you)"
(*said in a form that implies promise to someone for the future, informal tone)
JM: "Come again"
(*said as an informal command or request)
Other fav moments:
Tumblr media
JK: "Noo, do it once (for me)!"
(*주다 on its own means to give, gift someone something; in combination with other verbs like 하다 (to do) it implies doing something for someone; the most accurate but weird way in English to translate would be: "give a doing" Here Jungkook commands/requests Jimin to do the dance for him in an informal tone which sounds veeery casual, especially considering the dancers nearby 🫣)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
JK: "It's awesome/ You're awesome"
(*Again informal tone, the pronouns are not stated therefore both you/it could be inserted)
JK: "Will be cheering (for you), myself"
(Informal tone, said in a form that implies promise to someone for the future + Jungkook added 내가 at the end of the sentence to emphasize he personally will be cheering/supporting Jimin on. Reminder- Korean sentences don't need pronouns, therefore you can tell he used it for added emphasis)
All in all, Jungkook didn't use the formal level a single time besides when he was leaving and told Jimin + everyone else in the room to "take care" (수고하세요).
Finally, to anyone trying to use Jungkook's informal "nope" to Jimin's direct requests to get his ass over there more frequently probably didn't catch just how """seriously""" both of them were taking that convo, as you can see from Jungkook's smirk hidden under the mask ㅋㅋ
Tumblr media
Also just how long were they teasing and saying bye to each other if there is a cut and suddenly Jungkook is standing on the other side, still saying bye and holding hands with Jimin? 😆
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This short edit of Jungkook's appearance tells a lot about their dynamic and reassures everyone that can perceive the tone of their closeness. I'm glad we could see a little bit of it in this video!

How Jimin and Jungkook recollect their first meeting and how it became the epitome of the nature of their relationship ✍️
Tumblr media
Q: Tell us the first impressions of each other.
Jimin: I remember it exactly. I saw (Jungkook) for the first time at the dorm. Back then (his) image was way different from the current one. Kind of like from a manhwa, a bright student that is smiling/laughing a lot kind of a feel?
Jungkook: When we met in front of the dorm's door for the first time, you thought I was your hyung.
Jimin: That's right, that's why I greeted you with "annyeonghaseyo" (*polite greeting)
Jimin: Aaah what kind of impression is thaaat (laughter)
Jungkook: So just.. that was my first impression (laughter)
After seeing this quote from an old interview on how Jimin and Jungkook described their first meeting it occurred to me just how perfectly it predicted the evolution of their whole relationship over the years. I just translated another exerpt the other day, in which Jimin describes how Jungkook treats him more as a play buddy and someone to fool around and use his strength with, rather than a hyung that is older and should be regarded as such 😄
All throughout the years we saw how the boundaries between them have been fluid (in the age-communication, behavior hierarchy sense) and how they became way more relaxed with showing that part of the relationship to us as well, in the last few years especially. The footage of Jungkook drawing a funny tiny+cute snowman figure as Jimin (emphasis on cute acc to Jungkook) closing it off by saying "But still I don't forget that he is my hyung, right..." (as if kind of referring to the way he was describing him up until that point- as someone cute + also drew him as someone super small (might be just bc of the theme but still cute)) This all just further reminded me of the same point.
full translation of Jungkook's description of Jimin:
Like.. *how to say* (Jimin's) expression is always cute
Also his eyes are kinda droopy and cute like this...
So (here is) Jiminie hyung (shows the drawing)
He must be cute in the eyes of ARMY for sure but Jimin-ssi is also extremely* cute in my eyes.
But still I don't forget that he is my hyung, right...
(*Jungkook uses '굉장히' -stronger version of very- to emphasize just how veeery cute Jimin is in his eyes too)

hello!
could you tell us about this expression "저 그렇게 쉬운 사람 아닙니다"? your translation of it, the context it was said in and how you interpreted it?
also what do you think of the fact that jungkook wanted to go to jimin's house to do the live and he said he'd take his things to take a shower there? O_O
thank you so much!
Hi, there! Thanks a lot for your message.
Oh well 🤭 let's take a look I guess!!
Tumblr media
(*screenshot not mine)
To start off, I've seen a lot of discourse around this and also as to why/by whom it was deleted. To answer that first, it's hard to say because Jimin just commented:
"삭제해 버리네" which doesn't indicate who performed the action as the pronoun here is missing. He just wrote *he he he* "deleting" or "deleted"
He did use a grammar form 해 (어/아) 버리다 as to indicate that the action was completed in full; this grammar form can also carry an emotional undertone -as if someone was glad/regretful that the action happened. The best or closest interpretation of what he wrote then would be "he he he it's all deleted/gone" (alternatively: "he he he deleting it all") Did he mean he was glad he deleted? Or was he laughing that it got deleted? Hard to tell... You can see Jungkook understood it in that way, but I don't really see a reason why such action would be taken by anyone from the staff or moderators on the platform (if there are any).
Simply because what he wrote was very... brazen to say the least (we'll get into that) but in no way vulgar or inappropriate for broadcast.
Now looking at the preceding comment which you asked about... Jimin knew what he was doing with this comment 🤭 (and the nature of it leads me to believe even more he regretted posting so he deleted it quickly and was laughing about it)
"저 그렇게 쉬운 사람 안입니다"
This phrase closest translates to:
"I am not such an easy person" / "I am not that of an easy person"
First, this sentence is a commonly used phrase, you can also see by the formal tone in which Jimin wrote it as if he was quoting it- he normally doesn't have to / shouldn't talk with such high politeness with Jungkook and Jungkook responded in a highly formal tone and the typical Jimin-ssi for that very reason => which all adds another layer to this whole interaction (teasing upon teasing 🫣)
It's very commonly used when someone is in pursuit of someone else, whether it be trying to persuade you, make you do/feel something or make a move on you.
You would typically say this in a setting when a stranger is trying to get to know you/get your number or in other words is hitting on you and you want to politely and also a bit playfully reject. Of course, the context can also be that when a friend is trying to get on your good side, please you or persuade you. This answer is kind of teasing way to say "huh you think this would work on me?" It is a lot of times spoken in situations when you want to be playful/teasing/flirtatious and say: I'm not such an easy person (but)... [I'm not that easy to sway/your attempts have not been enough, you should try harder]. It can read as an invitation, a sort of cheeky rebuttal to say you know your worth and you expect more to be persuaded.
When put in the context of the wlive, there is more to consider. Jungkook was talking about taking it easy prior to Jimin posting that, when he read a few comments saying that Jimin should "go easy". I feel like Jimin's idea for the comment came from this moment. What leads me to believe he ended up deleting it is that the context in which he said it made it inherently flirtatious and very suggestive: Jungkook naked in bed, trying really hard to persuade Jimin over a livestream to go see him and Jimin making prior remarks to Jungkook to uncover himself 🙈 And that's how it was understood by Jungkook as well as he then went on to reason that it was Weverse that deleted the comment (for it being somehow explicit).
(**Also just to note, "an easy person" 쉬운 사람 as a standalone term in Korean doesn't carry an outright sexual meaning- an easy person in Korean is understood as more of a 'negative' term when you are too agreeable, when you don't stand up for yourself and let people walk over you and you are too easily taken advantage of. It doesn't have to do anything with someone's promiscuity. In the phrase Jimin used however, the implied meaning is different as explained.**)
Very shortly to the last part of your message, he said: "I'll bring stuff to wash up with" most likely implying he was to stay at Jimin's after the proposed live and sleep (and from my guess wash up before his schedule).
"내가 갈게, 내가 씻을 거 챙겨가지고 갈게"
"I'll go, I'll bring stuff to wash up with and go."
(he was emphasizing that he has no problem doing it, he is ready to go).

Probably not interesting OR level-headed bc really how CAN I be after the last Live? 🫠🫠 But I would just love to hear your own thoughts about the conversation that took place between Jikook. I felt like I was dreaming the entire thing. Are they crazy? Am I crazy? Yes to both 😭
I really value your opinions and point of view
Hi, there! Thanks so much for your message.
I wasn't able to watch this unfold in real time but have been rewatching bits and pieces ever since I got up to speed with what happened. And oh boy... where to start or what to even say 😅 There's a lot to unpack and if someone wants to discuss the specific parts, just let me know.
Side note: As far as I have seen, there have been various translations going around but after checking the official translations on the platform, I would advise to stick to those. They seemed pretty accurate and correct. However, as always there can be a lot to unpack looking at the specific ways Jimin and Jungkook were communicating with each other. Typically the little nuances get swallowed in the English translations due to the language differences.
For me, the most entertaining part was to watch how Jimin and Jungkook were going through stages of talking to each other starting with cute (and quite intimate) informalities and then going to flirting/teasing, then going back and forth teasing and joking around with each other (switching between formal - informal and Busan dialect) then we got a bit of nagging/scolding by Jungkook and adorable sulking at the end. So so heartwarming!
Basically that's how I always imagine/perceive the vibes between them when they hang out, just never-ending giggling and teasing. Pure joy, pure happiness ❤️

Hello ! This is my first ask here.
I have a doubt regarding JK's yesterday live. One of Jimin's comment was about JK leaving at 2am/pm. There are 2 versions of translations going around - one is future tense, "you have to leave at 2pm. So go to sleep now" and another version is past tense , "you left at 2 am , so sleep now". There is a confusion about this , can you clarify it for us?
Tumblr media
Hi, thanks a lot for your message!
I have seen this comment being translated in all kinds of ways, perhaps partially due to the fact that the way it is phrased is pretty vague and also it is written in Busan satoori.
It has been officially transcribed like this:
Tumblr media
Though they did change the word '나가더구먼', written by Jimin originally in Busan dialect as '나가더만'; similarly to '어서 자' which Jimin wrote as '어여자' in Busan dialect. (Little detail but I just love how they automatically slip into their regional dialect when talking to each other 🥹)
To get to the content of the message, Jimin doesn't specify what time of the day exactly, he just says "at 2 o'clock."
Based on that solely it could be understood in both past and future sense. However the overall meaning of "너 2시에 나가더만" implies that:
You've told me/I've learnt you are going out/leaving at 2; this is a fact that I've got to know
Despite that I see you are not sleeping (my assumption and expectation is being opposed; I am surprised)
I know this probably sounds very confusing but yes, this much can be expressed with suffixes in Korean 😅
Then Jimin continues saying "어여자 이제" which is satoori for ushering someone to "go to sleep quickly now"
The full translation can be phrased as:
"(I know) you leave at 2* so hurry up and sleep now."
(*implied additional meaning: yet you are not sleeping)
Jungkook then replies:
Tumblr media
"That's right, I am going out/leaving at around 2 o'clock, I am going" (-는데 this form again implies opposition- 'despite/even though' but it is hard to capture in English translation).
Basically Jungkook agrees to the juxtaposition with his answer, as he is seemingly not sleeping even though he has a schedule at 2.
He closes it off with an informal sentence: "Why do I hate sleeping this much?"
I have to admit even when I was watching this for the first time, I never got the impression from the whole convo it could be translated in any other way than future; but I guess there can be a bit of difficulty trying to express the full scope of the meaning in English and the sentence is indeed a bit vague. Though Jungkook's reaction doesn't really fit any other interpretation.
Hope it helped a bit!

oh someone said jungkook was talking like he hadn't seen jimin in a long time(when jungkook said take care of jimin etc.). He said that the way he said the sentence and his attitudes were like that. is this true?
Hello, I would appreciate if you could refrain from sending me messages that are inspired by vicious individuals who only want to spread ill-intended narratives about Jimin and Jungkook. I am not here to entertain any of that.
As you could clearly see today, Jimin and Jungkook are doing fine, still as close and lovely as ever. As I've said before, if you are chronically online and desperately need proof for something that has been a constant for over 10 years, there is not much that can be said to you and I am honestly tired of debating something that shouldn't even warrant a discussion.
Jungkook reacted to Jimin's message about having to work, he wished him well and to be healthy while working hard and being busy.
+ (Once again) As I mentioned before Jimin and Jungkook intentionally create a "distance" between them by using high politeness as a way to joke and poke at each other in front of the audience (greeting each other politely as if mere co-workers meanwhile both of them are laughing and blushing- both are on the joke and find it funny)
(And even if: I wouldn't find it weird at all if they haven't seen each other for a few days as Jimin mentioned multiple times today he finishes his schedules late at night a lot of the days, does that automatically mean to you they hate each other now or what???)
Their exchange today was adorable, Jungkook didn't hesitate and invite Jimin over for chicken right away as if eating chicken and watching TV was a very normal occurance for them. Jimin was full on melting in the comments from Jungkook's cuteness and ended it with a full on aegyo message in Busan dialect, again showing familiarity and closeness with which they communicate.
There is nothing to misinterpret here, stop picking apart every little movement thinking you know them better from what you see on the screen as opposed to what they are living in real life.
The end.

Happy FACE era and happy Jikook days to all!
I promise I'll write a few in depth reflections on the latest Jikook interactions and also will address 편지 in another post but I just wanted to get a few things off my chest so I wanted to post this first. (Sorry, this post will mostly include my reflections and no profound analysis so if you're not interested in my ramblings, you can skip this one)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
*inserts these pics to catch your attention lol*
I guess I'll start off by this: I did make the conscious decision to lay off the petiness a few months ago though I can't help but think these few days (even weeks) happened for the sake of all the hateful trolls who have been making rounds even on here revelling in the fact both Jimin and Jungkook were mostly off-grid and Kook spotted having a social life, which somehow automatically discounted any possibility of him keeping in touch with/seeing anyone else for some reason.... but anyways... for the sake of keeping my karma clean let's move on.
Being an ARMY with a special fondness for 3J and Jikook I have to say my life is pretty easy, I just lay back and enjoy as their appearances happen and let things unfold without having to get angry or hateful. Mostly because my love for them doesn't hinge upon a never-ending need for validation for what has been a constant for the past 10+ years. And I hope by communicating and trying to explain more closely to you how especially Jimin and Jungkook interact, trying to help you bridge the language gap, I really hope you feel this sense of calmness as well. There is never anything to question, to fuss or argue about. (Not to stray too much off topic, but rest assured I deeply value and appreciate each and one of your replies and messages, despite the fact I am notoriously bad at replying to them 🫣)
Watching Jimin and Jungkook interact always feels like home, like you have been granted an insight into a familiar scene, with people that are so close they can't help but joke around or poke at each other yet at the same time can't hold back on their appreciation and softness for each other. (If you need a visual representation just take any moment Jimin talks about/with Jungkook and automatically gets all giggly and soft and Jungkook's last live where you could see the little goofball laughing at ex. the teasing scenes but at the same time couldn't hold back his starry eyed expression 🥹)
I have to admit though, I myself got proven wrong when I confidently posted about how they are both missing ARMY based on the Weverse interactions and then proceeded watching Jungkook turn on a live barely interacting with the comments (even remarking on the fact he isn't checking them yet people keep writing lol) just to watch over 1hr of Jimin content and admit to have been staying on top of all his promo releases...To then read Jimin's reply in which he left no room for debate. 국민 정말 미안해ㅠㅠㅠ
So what have we learned over the past few days?
Jimin and Jungkook are fine, in fact better than fine, and not seeing them in public proves absolutely jack sh*t (reverting back to a bit of my pettiness here)
Jungkook was involved with the album more than we could have ever imagined. (can't wait to talk more about 편지, I have to say not many songs have ever touched me as much as this one, for various reasons...)
Jungkook visited Jimin's rehearsal (and was really interested in watching him record for a music show too 🥺) and was also for that reason so confidently announcing that something "amazing beyond words" was coming before the teaser for Set me free pt. 2 dropped
As expected Jimin's latest schedules are recording/company-home-eat-sleep and repeat so he has barely any time left and Jungkook misses him a lot :(
Jungkook is as supportive and admiring of his hyung as ever- his words not mine (still a huge Serendipity stan though 🤭)
And once again highlighting: their communication feels very warm, friendly and familiar, there is no sign of them not knowing about each other or being distant
This was all I just had to write down before my head started spinning, I will be back with more of my nerdy language analysis posts, thanks for reading if you decided to! 😊

Jungkook and Jimin's recent cute and funny interactions leading up to Jimin's first release: a write-up ✍️
Happy Jimin solo debut day, everyone!! 🎉
As Jungkook said to anticipate something "amazing beyond words" (he used satoori version of 기가 막히다 which is best translated as amazing, beyond words, breathtaking) he for sure wasn't exaggerating and Jimin delivered!! Anticipating the full album even more now 🔥
youtube
In the past few days we got to once again peak into the familiar banter between Jimin and Jungkook, something so typical yet warming at the heart each time we get to see it
Here's a few instances with my commentary:
1. When Jimin tuned in during Jungkook's 2nd live he first left this comment:
Tumblr media
"Ja-kke* whatever you do is okay"
*He purposely misspelled Ja(y)-Ke(y)
Note: I've seen some accounts translating this as "you look good whatever you do" but Jimin didn't use words specifically implicating a comment on Jungkook's visual appearance (although some might assume he commented as a reference to that), but I still wouldn't go with that translation to avoid misunderstandings.
2. Jimin followed it up with further comments and in the meantime Jungkook noticed him and reacted with "Oh Jimin!" (again with that joking accent, not using hyung) And then quickly went on explaining that: "Hyung, this is now the 2nd part, 2nd one" and went on to explain his outfit change (this was all polite speech).
As Jimin laughingly commented "술방" which is an abbreviation of "술을 마시는 방송" a drinking broadcast, Jungkook went on to describe what previously went down in their group chat:
Tumblr media
"Ahh *sh* (*scoffing sound) Jiminie hyung said the other day in the group chat... not to do a drinking broadcast...not to drink..."
"I watched a video of Jimin hyung when Unholy came on, he just cut off all the songs!"* (here Jungkook uses 꺼버리다 which gives the verb 끄다 (turn off) a more emotional undertone-as if he was disapproving of the decision to turn off/cut off the music in that situation)
"I saw it too"
(changes tone as if scolding and talking directly to Jimin in informal way) "Aaa, (we're) all big grown-ups, what are you doing tss" (starts laughing)
"I know/I'm aware! I'm aware too! " (said informally, here he was obviously speaking to Jimin and referring to his advice to be cautious about drinking in front of an audience)
Note: I saw some translations making it seem like Jungkook said he was watching Jimin's live in real time. Here again it is better to stay true to what words he actually used: he mentions a "video" that "he saw/watched"; therefore to avoid misconceptions it is better to say video instead of live, broadcast etc.
Jimin then informally responded with:
Tumblr media
"Noo Ja-kke do whatever you want to do"
3. Jungkook continuing to talk to Jimin informally
(asking the audience) "Did Jiminie hyung come and go?"
(after seeing Jimin's "I didn't leave" response) Jimiiin! If you haven't left, come here! (starts laughing because he knows he is being a little brat 🤭)
Keeping this tone Jungkook uses to jokingly reply to Jimin in front of fans informally in mind, you can then basically also read the reply he left on Jimin's comment in the latest Weverse exchange in the same manner:
Tumblr media
Jimin reacted to Jungkook's early morning recipe with "Arriving to Korea, I will have to go to your home"
To me it appeared that Jungkook first didn't notice the reply and only after leaving another comment under his post, he read Jimin's and responded jokingly in satoori: "oh, what !!!!" obviously in an informal friendly banter 😂
----------------------
A few short side notes from me: Jungkook's exchange with Namjoon was also very adorable and loving; he is obviously a person with a heart full of love for his hyungs and fans which also explains why he got so emotional. When I was discussing this with my old army friend who was getting kinda worried I tried to explain to her that Jungkook is an extremely emotionally intelligent person with a vast and very deeply emotional inner world. He feels touched by all the support he gets and all the love fans express towards him in the comments. I'm sure he misses performing and feels like the distance is therefore bigger between him and those who he has devoted his whole life to... But watching him in those moments I understood why Jimin babies him and tries to protect him so much :(((
Lastly, in contrast to e.g. very casual comments addressed to Jungkook in front of us, Jimin left two beautiful and polite messages on Weverse. Whenever he tries to show his earnest love, appreciation and gratitude towards ARMY he uses a formal language which makes it seem very sincere and polite.
Tumblr media
I am proud of our Jimin 🫶 and I am proud of our Jungkook too, as Jimin said: whatever he does is okay 🫶

Hi 😊
I wanted to ask if you could clarify a translation please 🙏 I saw both translations, some saying that Jungkook said "Jimin hyung" and others saying "Jiminie".
If he really said "Jiminie" without honorifics in front of his coach, is it a big deal? Cause I saw some k-jkkrs losing it over that fact
Here is the link: https://twitter.com/factkm58/status/1624500688435945472?s=20&t=Rs9n9cfALUed3ipV6l-kYg
Hi, thanks a lot for your message and sorry for the delayed response.
I am going to try to attach the post you linked for better convenience below (never done that before so bear with me if it doesn't work in the end 😅)
Tumblr media
In this short moment it does appear that Jungkook says what the caption in the post contains: "지민이가 형 부르는데요" translated as "Jiminie is calling (you), hyung" (Jungkook is addressing the trainer and telling him Jimin is calling for him in the comments). The reason why some people might think they hear 'hyung' is because he does say it but as a way to address the trainer, not as a way to refer to Jimin. (*if he did he would have said 지민이형이 형 부르는데요)
This is a cute instance where it shows what my impression also was and what was kind of clear from the whole live. Jimin and Jungkook both seem to be close with and very well known to the trainer as I assume they must have taken some lessons together or at least Jimin must have been to the gym before. (It was evident from Jimin telling the trainer he misses him in aegyo which would be highly weird if he did that to a teacher he hasn't met before and personally and also from the instance of the trainer inviting Jimin over to join without any hesitation). And what is also safe to assume is that while they are there, they most likely communicate without honorifics, which is not that big of a news for Jikook to be honest but still significant 😄 This might therefore been a short slip into the casual language Jungkook uses with Jimin even in front of the trainer. And which is why many k-armys went crazy over it as being casual in private is one thing but being casual in front of other people like the trainer gives it even more significance.
Hope my answer contains all the information you were looking for and once again thanks for sending me a message! 😊

Hello! Can you explain the meaning of this? About what Jungkook said to Jimin “건강하란 말이야 어?”, please? I see a lot of Korean fans like this and I don't understand why they like it so much. Thank you so much!
Hello there, thanks a lot for this message! It is something I wanted to address but didn't find the opportunity yet so here it goes.
First off, I'll start with a side note and bit of a longer intro by saying that the exchanges between Jimin and Jungkook that night felt overall very intimate, very loving and caring. It truly made me smile and made my heart melt a little.
Jungkook went from Jimin hyung! (*full smile mode*)
Then in true Jikook fashion, we got Jungkook instantly teasing or getting playful by greeting Jimin in the high polite form, which is something that Jimin and Jungkook have become known to do between the two of them. I already addressed it shortly once but as I am seeing it being discussed more and more I might dedicate a whole post to this with more examples. In short once again, by talking to each other in an unnecessarily highly polite manner, Jimin and Jungkook play into the situation which they are in: in front of an audience on a live, or alternatively in front of cameras and crew (and potential future audience). This puts them into the position of co-workers and into the context of a "professional" environment, which requires politeness. However them being as close as they are, it is safe to assume there is not a single moment they are formal with each other, thus making it super funny when all of a sudden they switch into a very polite and respectful language of two colleagues from some department of a company 😄 To draw a parallel for English speakers to understand this better, it is kind of similar to a situation if someone started calling their best friend 'sir' or 'madam' when in public. More on this maybe later in another post...
To address your specific question, this is a moment from the other spectrum of Jikook interactions.
Tumblr media
Here Jungkook drops honorifics and addresses Jimin very casually. It is also important to take into consideration the way he says it. He changes his tone to very casual and caring (and scolding, in sort of 'I am frustrated if you don't listen' way) He starts off by saying:
"Jimin hyung work hard okay...! Jimin... (*drops honorifics here) Be healthy *hm*! You gotta be healthy *어*!"
(said with low formality + important to note that this '어' *oe* sound is used only among friends and considered rude if used when speaking to older people or someone who requires higher politeness than casual language; and in combination with Jungkook's overall tone it emphasizes the scolding, loving and intimate nature of the sentence)
Lastly, Jungkook finishes this off with:
"People have to be healthy..." (still in casual low polite form)
So basically, this whole part sounds loving and scolding at the same time with a causal tone similar to a boyfriend style. That's why Korean fans loved this moment so much!

Jungkook live (2/11) titled 힘드러어엉 (tireeeed *with aegyo)
Tumblr media
Jungkookie came live today to show us he is starting his boxing lessons again!! He also mentioned he cut his bangs because they were getting too long so we got to see his new cute hairstyle 🥹❤️
Tumblr media
Then we got the cutest Jikook screen/comments interactions and Jimin was once again offered to join Jungkook for his live 🥹
At the beginning, Jimin left these comments:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Jeikei"
"Teacher ~~" (seonsaengnim + implied tone with the characters)
"I miss youu" (written in aegyo, this was addressed to the teacher/trainer because Jimin wrote high formal 보고싶습니다 in a cute way, so it is obvious he knows him well enough to act cutely towards him but with respect ofc 😄)
To which Jungkook responded excitedly with a huge smile:
"Oh Jimin! Jimin hyung came!
Teacher (seonsaengnim)! Jimin hyung came on here! (referring to Weverse comments)
Hyung, Jiminie hyung you should start boxing too!
(the trainer starts speaking to Jimin in between, inviting him over)
Hyung, you were told to come!~ hyung you should do boxing!
I am starting now again too, having rested..."
Jimin responded to that with:
kkkkkkkkk yes kkkkkk don't wait for me kkk
Tumblr media
Jungkook then passed on this message to the trainer that they shouldn't wait for Jimin this time 😄 Then finally adding when talking to the trainer:
"Jimin hyung will probably come together with me when there is a chance."
As Jungkook was training hard Jimin left this comment which made my heart melt again 😭
"Right that's good, grow up like this so you (can) protect hyung" (referring to himself)
Tumblr media
Closeness, cute and loving nature are pouring out of both Jimin and Kook these days and I love we can see a few glimpses of it 🥹💗
Then towards the end, Jungkookie made this cute ending ment which made me laugh so hard:
"You worked hard" 👍 (referring to the audience)
"Ah no it was me that worked hard"
Tumblr media
Loved this short live so much! Jungkook is the most adorable soul 💜

i'll be crying over this for the next few days 🥹🥹🥹 jungkook will forever be jimin's baby 😭
*내새꾸 is an even cuter version of 내 새끼 however the nuance cannot be properly captured in the translation so it's only translated as "my baby" (*for nuance just imagine someone calling the other person 'my baby' with the softest cutest tone)

Hello, I found this old quote from jimin and I’ve seen it translated elsewhere but I was hoping to get your take on it? It’s from this article
https://n.news.naver.com/mnews/article/415/0000001635?sid=004
Hi, thanks a lot for your message.
Since it's quite a bit of text I will give a translation without much of explaining around it for the parts where it just mentions Jimin's history etc and focus more on the parts which I assume were the reason you sent me the message for.
Here I will also try to make it more fun for me (and for those who are maybe interested in going more in depth too) by showing multiple ways of translating certain words or phrases, ranging from 1st option marked as ¹ - 'closest to source' translation (which I typically provide to show what was said in original word as opposed to just transforming it to be more seemless and easier to understand for an English speaker) /2nd option marked as ²- close synonym (kind of middle of the two, optional) / 3rd option marked as ³- 'looser, more flexible' translation (might not be mirroring the source text 100% but brings the essence of the word, phrase closer to the English language and its context). This is just to show translations can vary depending on stylistic choice and preference. Naturally, this doesn't always apply though and there's many further nuances that can be discussed etc.
Note: if you wish to skip the (admittedly long) explanation and my weird number exercise, scroll to the bottom for clean translation.
"Jimin- You've been dancing since the third grade of middle school and were such a notorious dancer to the point that you got accepted to Busan Arts High School as the top student (*수석 입학), but at the same time, you also played a big role in creating BTS' own specific colors with your ¹attractive / ²appealing vocals.
Though on top of that, you came in ¹last position in the team ranking / ³were last in the team pecking order to such an extent that you ³earned yourself a nickname ¹'jim-deubaek' / ²'jim-dbag' / ³'jim-punchbag' (Jimin + ¹sandbag / ³punching bag), ¹how did it happen / ³how come / ³how did this come about?"
(*note: here of course the tone is playful and the meaning obviously isn't referring to any harmful violence, the question is posed in a way that it implies Jimin is both the top (skills, influence wise) and then finds himself at the bottom when it comes to certain power hierarchy in the group, like when they joke around together (even physically), to the point that not even the youngest regards him as a 'hyung' and rather plays around with him, which Jimin then refers to in the response accordingly)
"Not only dancing, I tend to worry a lot about my vocals too. I think I am still lacking in the vocal aspect, therefore I want to try hard enough to be satisfied with myself and give you better songs.
I admit to being last in ³the pecking order. I think ¹it became/ ³I ended up like this after ¹being ¹thrown / ³tossed around by ¹the maknae Jungkook. I have the nickname ¹'Jungkook's mum' (*the word mum spelled in Korean) but now / from now on I think I am becoming ¹'Jungkook's toy' / ³'Jungkook's plaything'. (Laughter) I cannot ¹defy it / ²resist, but since I don't hate these kind of ¹antics/ ¹play / ²jokes / ²mischief, ¹there's nothing to do / ³I can't help it."
Concluding note: by giving multiple options I tried to show that there are always various ways to go about translations. Here I would say to avoid misunderstanding, it's better to try to convey the meaning of what was said with a bit more flexible translation.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
TLDR, clean translation:
Reporter: "(Jimin) You've been dancing since the third grade of middle school and were such a notorious dancer to the point that you got accepted to Busan Arts High School as the top student, but at the same time, you also played a big role in creating BTS' own specific colors with your attractive vocals. Though on top of that, you were last in the team pecking order to such an extent that you earned yourself a nickname 'jim-punchbag' (Jimin +punching bag), how did this come about?"
JM: "Not only dancing, I tend to worry a lot about my vocals too. I think I am still lacking in the vocal aspect, therefore I want to try hard enough to be satisfied with myself and give you better songs. I admit to being last in the pecking order. I think I ended up like this after being tossed around by the maknae Jungkook. I have the nickname 'Jungkook's mum' but now I think I am becoming 'Jungkook's plaything'. (Laughter) I cannot defy it, but since I don't hate these kind of antics, there's nothing to do about it."
Jimin live (2/10) notes
Jimin came to see us today again! ❤
He talked about a variety of topics but first and foremost he announced his album should be ready some time in March! He asked us to wait a bit more and look forward to it and all the activities around the promotions that he has been preparing!! 🥳
Then picking up Legos to build, he started playing songs and reminiscing about the members and some moments.
He mentioned Suchwita and how he would like to appear on it once his album releases. He also mentioned how Seokjin was doing and that he contacts the members from time to time as he has an allotted time to use his phone now, he sometimes calls them. Moreover, Jimin said he is doing well and marvelled over his hyung, how cool he is and "definitely not an ordinary person!!" (judging from how much he already achieved in the army). Later adding that he, and everyone even the staff misses Jin hyung.
As Unholy started playing he made a comment saying "didn't Jungkook sing along to this song?" showing us that he either saw it or saw some comments about Jungkook's performance of this song 😄
When listening to That that, Jimin mentioned Jungkook and the countless times he imitated the dance saying:
Later on as someone requested Euphoria, Jimin put it on and commented as he was listening that it's a really good song. He even reminisced about the time Jungkook was performing this song in the past saying:
"Jeon Jungkookie copying this was very funny...
Jungkookie (it was almost like).... not copying. Almost like teasing. (laughing) How to say it? He didn't do it* like he was dancing hard and having fun... It was like sarcastically, with sarcasm* (can be also translated more loosely as ironically or teasingly, cynically)
It was really very funny."
"Jungkookie used to perform this song in the past at our concert flying in the sky, it was really cool."
"Woah it was scary (up) there, how was he then able to do it live there?"
"I give my respect" *(note: here Jimin emphasized his admiration/respect for Jungkook's performance by saying this in high politeness "존경했습니다")
Tumblr media
For the next few minutes even after the song concluded, Jimin was humming the lyrics and singing along to Euphoria, very cute and precious moments 🥹
Then lastly he mentioned Jungkook again in connection with the ability to multitask when spending time with friends and having to listen and do something else at the same time:
"...It's because I also tend to somewhat not multitask well?
In the old days our maknae, a bit... Jungkookie couldn't multitask so I was like "You're doing it on purpose right?!" But looking at it now I can't do it (well) either?
There's a saying that one should look back on oneself, right?
So.. I was like that too.
I was in no position to say anything to Jungkookie."
Jimin is here humbly admitting his 'fault' at accusing Jungkookie of not being able to listen while doing something, while being the same in nature 🥺
___________
This is just a selection of moments I could remember and found cute or interesting to write about. As I like to note, my translations typically follow the source more closely, often at the expense of maybe prettier English version (to be able to show the nature of the sentence a bit more).
Anyways, I definitely can't wait to finally hear Jimin's album in around a month's time!! 🙏
