nonni all caps ?? for hipster kenma ?? i thought this idea was an incredibly niche thing in my odd brain which would legit get like zero interaction, i straight up wrote it mostly for myself, so this is a v pleasant surprise (Ｔ▽Ｔ) also, this got longer than expected, but since you requested it with such enthusiasm, i wanted to add in a little extra detail as a treat for you ♡

+ hipster ! kenma who feeds his hairless sphynx cat gluten-free food, because he wouldn’t feed his cat a certain diet that he isn’t also on himself

+ hipster ! kenma who thinks much of the fashion industry’s antics are ridiculous for being so overpriced (and that some of their practices can be harmful to the environment), but will drop $375 bucks at a carefully curated, high-end, second-hand designer fashion shop in the arts district on a fresh pair of black jeans, ones that already come pre-ripped and are conveniently labeled as having a 'distressed' look. so edgy. clearly, who needs logical pricing when you can pay a premium to look like you've been through a barbed wire fence? + hipster ! kenma dislikes coffee, because not only is it so acidic on the PH scale, the entire culture surrounding the popular brew (–and yes, he really did call coffee, “the popular brew” when explaining this to you) is so aggressive in prevalent society, as it seemingly promotes an inherent overly capitalist mindset that is so patriarchal. instead, he opts for ~matcha with lion’s mane extract~ for better concentration and whenever he needs a pick-me-up. besides, he prefers things being more chill and calm anyway, and coffee makes him feel too jittery and whacked out + hipster ! kenma doesn’t actually have the best grasp on crypto or stock trading, but from believing and claiming he did, got yaku involved in also investing in that one reddit gamestop stock with him. unfortunately, due to a bad call of not pulling the shares out in time, they lost a considerable amount of money. L. but as short-tempered as yaku used to be, he’s mellowed-out in his older years and only blames himself in the end for even listening to hipster kenma in the first place. anyway it’s cool–when yaku came to visit town from russia, he got taken out by hipster kenma for an evening of partying, all drinks and party drugs on him, as a sort of apology for the risky financial loss—the night ended with the both of them on the floor crying together from reminiscing about past memories and ‘the good ole days’, sheesh + hipster ! kenma who sometimes seems like he hates you, but gets a bit of a kick out of you bringing it up, because whenever you do, he gets to playfully remind you he’s just in resting mode or deep in thought by making the same joke every time, “that’s just my cunty cat face” + hipster ! kenma who is prone to getting some pretty gnarly anxiety at times, so he takes these 15mg edible marijuana gummies to chill himself out. his favorite flavor of THC gummy bear from the packet you gifted him, and which he now regularly takes, is salted caramel and dark chocolate + hipster ! kenma will drag you to see an arthouse docufilm about the music history of video games with modular synthesizers, etc. at this little blackbox theater, complaining that those big blockbuster movie chains are ripping you off by charging way too much for mainstream crap, but then he proceeds to overpay for an overpriced, organic, effervescent, raw kombucha drink once you arrive at the little indie theater (he definitely thinks buying soda at the movie theater is beneath him, “the way i see it, if you want a soda at least make it, like, an actual appropriate setting, go to a carnival and have it with a corn dog.”)

+ hipster ! kenma loves street food. will take you to the local art walk/night market festivals once a month, fascinated by tasting all the different street food vendors and scoping out the community art scene, he’ll even end up treating you with a tasty treat every time from one of the booths. although he doesn’t particularly love overly sweet things, he will especially eat any sweetly-glazed savory snack that comes on a stick. one thing about him that you’ve come to appreciate though is that he doesn’t just gobble down his food, no, hipster kenma actually enjoys taking the time to savor what he consumes while giving insightful commentary on the food’s flavoring, etc. + hipster ! kenma who DIYs…many things, because he figures, let’s be honest, other people can’t be relied upon to make things correctly, not by his standards. especially when it comes to his computer, which of course he built himself: it has a fully transparent case so you can see right through to the whole display of all dazzling gear and deco inside of it, and in his words it had to be, “a state of the art custom loop with full liquid cooling”. you admit the inner flashing lights are pretty and the computer is definitely so decked out, that it's for sure one of the coolest things you’ve ever seen.

+ hipster ! kenma kinda has this weird thing that if he didn’t think of a cool idea for his twitch stream first after seeing it from another popular streamer, then he acts like it’s kinda inherently stupid, mentions how blasé it is to you and his friends, even if deep down he does find the idea interesting or appealing and probably, most definitely, would’ve adopted it himself 

+ hipster ! kenma who can oftentimes hold the belief that adopting a cynical and pessimistic outlook on life makes one more intelligent and analytical, even more sophisticated or enhances his overall cleverness of mind, sad + hipster ! kenma is hot. okay. in such an understated way, which all the more makes him hotter, though he’s not fully aware of his own appeal, or perhaps only mildly—actually attracts a fair amount of bitches when he goes out to the dive bars or local music shows, ones who aren’t intimidated by his sort of mysterious appearance or superior demeanor which is bound to come off a little pretentious, but in truth, he’s actually a bit insecure and shy about being approached so often and therefore tends to stay pretty silent when that happens, unsure of how to fully deal/cope with someone who is being so direct about their interest in him. ultimately prefers the slow get-to-know-you burn when it comes to any romance: a friends first, lovers later kind of thing + hipster ! kenma is incredibly observant, especially in social situations and mostly prefers to just take everything in, only speaking when he has something truly poignant to say … or when an opportunity strikes to completely, calmly, eviscerate someone’s inane or ignorant opinion, delivering a point so smooth, he’ll crush their shitty take all in a such a demure, cool, collected and resolute manner to the point where the dumbass person in question doesn’t even know they’ve been schooled and insulted by him until the roar of jeers and laughter from the surrounding crowd are heckling the unbeknownst fool, sick burn hipster kenma + hipster ! kenma only dares to wear brighter colors when at the beach and the item of clothing is a hoodie (proclaims it’s a light and breathable one though sooo he’s not sure what everyone is making such a fuss over when you, hinata, kuroo and the rest of your beach crew kick up some sand towards him while chiming in unison to urge him to, “take it off! we’re by the ocean, bruh!”) – the brightest colors of those hoodies ever worn at the beach are either a pale mustard, burnt amber, or white with possible cool textile designs. not only that, but he’ll stick to the shade beneath the large beach parasol playing on his nintendo switch, because listen, he isn’t about to get skin cancer on account of the toxic chemicals they put in sunscreen these days just so he can catch some rays (which of course, the sun could also give one cancer) + hipster ! kenma has these annoyingly long pretty dark lashes which are framed so nicely by his non-prescription clear frame glasses, and every so often you will playfully grumble to him about how unfair that is, since he’s a boy and doesn’t even care that he’s got them, then proceed to joke by asking him to give you some of those lashes since he doesn’t in fact need all of them for looks. he’ll respond by lightly chuckling and referencing that one Clockwork Orange film scene where the main character’s eyes are forced to remain horrifically clamped open, slyly suggesting, “if you can manage to get me in a position like that, then and only then, can you have them” but don’t bother, he continues, because you’ll never get past him~~ + hipster ! kenma who, no matter what he seems like on the surface, you know in the end that he’s undeniably ride or die for his friends, 10/10 will always always have their back, willingly giving them a hand without making a big deal of it + hipster ! kenma shelled out quite a hefty price on his ‘Beats by Dre’ headphones, even though as a self-proclaimed audiophile he knows they’re nowhere near being the best on the market, only bought them for the clout, and walks around town wearing them or for his twitch streams + hipster ! kenma secretly cries to bon iver, sufjan stevens, james blake, ryuichi sakamoto, erykah badu, nick cave and portishead when he’s alone + hipster ! kenma watches a looot of documentaries

I loved my child so so much. Do not misunderstand me, I still love  my child with every drop of my blood and with every fiber of my being but after more than twenty years without seeing her, is she really still my child?

I remember her birth so clearly, she was the first after all. My father was so worried pacing like a sinner in the Chantry, my mother was equally nervous, but far more composed than him. My husband looked calm and collected , he had complete faith I wouldn’t die on childbirth, stating that he had complete confidence in my abilities, and reminded every nervous midwife that I was not a weak woman, I was a scion of house Amell, a more than competent archer and the strongest woman he had ever seen. His confidence really relaxed me when the pains began, and I focused. This child would be born and I would live to raise it. With this baby we would reconstruct house Amell, we would drag our noble name from the ground and we will become a name to be reckoned in the whole Free Marches.

I know father had his reservations, and I am sure he didn’t knew that I noticed the mage he had quietly snuck in the birthing chamber. When the final push came my daughter came to the world, hair as black as mine and the blues eyes I had seen anyone in my family had. In that moment all my ambition for house Amell vanished and now I just wanted my daughter to be with me at all times.

Oh how happy we were those years, my dear husband, my dear daughter and I, we were a small island in the archipelago that was Kirkwall’s nobility. Even Damions inconsiderate absence did not dampened my spirit and that left my family alone so we could built our home.

I got pregnant again and I was happy as I could be, that delivery was quieter, not so many midwives and no mages on sight. Only later I would realize this was due my father’s dwindling fortune. My second child came like the tide, predictable and smooth. Our little island was growing, my husband's ties to Starkheaven kept us comfortable and independent from my father’s and brother’s dealings.

I heard from eavesdropping in conversations, a habit I was fighting on correct, that my cousin Leandra was still alive, the child from who she had abandoned everything was thriving under the Fereldan wilderness , and she had two other children, Bethany and Carver or so I heard. Fitting that Leandra would name her daughter after the mother who had cried everyday after her departure. I engraved the three names in my brain. One day I would tell my children about their lost relative, when they are older, so they would understand the risks of meddling with magic.

I was on my third pregnancy when disaster stuck again, in just one year, Gamlen, the head of the Amell main branch declared bankruptcy, he sold the main family estate and moved to Lowtown. I would had been more horrified with the news if something equally horrible hadn’t happened on my side. My father had lost my brother to prison, after the fool had made dealing with the Carta, my father run the family fortune the the ground borrowing from the Council of Five. Mother could not deal with the heartbreak nor the betrayal and died soon after my brother’s death in prison. I must had spend months crying for the older brother that once had been my hero, for my mother who always seemed so collected, and for my father that once seemed so strong. When he died just a week before my delivery I had already ran out of tears.

My third child was also a girl, her hair finally showed some of the red of his father's auburn hair. This child was so sweet , it was as if she decided to contradict the bitter tears I had shed during my pregnancy. She laughed, and slept, a mondel baby, or so Dulci de Launcet said when comparing it to her eternally crying Fifi. My oldest, was finally reaching the age when she was beyond simple tutors, she was always so smart, asking question about everything. Driving the Sisters mad after every Chantry service, as she wasn’t satisfied with the answers they scrambled to weave. Apparently for her, the Maker did it, was not reason enough. Fair enough, but I would need to teach her to keep such bold opinions to herself.

She was five and a half when cold dread settled in my gut as one day my darling beloved blue eyed child had no longer her baby blue eyes, instead they were now a deep brown, just like her father’s. The cold reality creeped to me like a stranger following you in Lowtown. There were only one kind of children that changed their eye color so easily, the magical kind. To think about my daughter as a mage gave me nightmares I could not possibly describe. Not only for the demons the chantry oh so eloquently liked to remind the congregation that could possess a mage. Nor the horrors of Tevinter, of the cruel gaze of the Knight Commander.  I conferred with my husband, the only person i could trust in all of the Free Marches. He gave so  many explanations that I didn’t believe any of it. He finally said he knew rumors of hidden mages in Orlais, it was just a matter or train her powers with a competent and reliable mage so she could keep it hidden. No need to stir the river, he said, we would start to save for hiring a tutor, he even suggested my cousin Leandra’s husband. Perhaps a handsome pay would bring him to Kirkwall to teach my child under cover of night, perhaps Leandra would like her children to grow in Kirkwall. As the remaining Amell I had such power, to elevate her and her children to nobility under the quiet condition of magical training and concealing.

Plans were drawn, but it came so soon. Mages were supposed to show their abilities as they approached puberty, not my child, no , she was far too smart for that and that terrible day in front of the Chantry she defended her brother, but sacrificed her secrecy.

The Templars came and took her, my first born, my beloved daughter. My husband came home only to find me hysterical, with my two children clutched to my skirt and my two other babies moving nervously on my womb.

A bribe was made and she was shipped to Ferelden, I had seen the Gallows when I was younger. My daughter would not grow up there, not while I was drawing breath.

What happened latter was a blur,and I do not wish to lie. The result was the same, I  lost my home, my husband and my children, now I wonder Thedas insearch of Andraste’s mercy, one day maybe one day I will see my children again. Perhaps I should return to Kirkwall, I head they named a Champion, a mege of all things, perhaps they could deliver the mercy I’ve been searching for…

For the last week, one of only two remaining flying B-29 bombers was in town at the Gatineau Executive Airport and, with the assistance of Vintage Wings of Canada, was open to the public for viewing. For those with a little extra cash a half-hour flight could be purchased as well.

The B-29 is called “FIFI” and belongs to the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) from Texas and, as mentioned, is one of only two examples of this aircraft left flying in the world today. The B-29 was first flown in 1942, entered into service in 1944, and was retired in 1960. It was used in the Pacific theatre during WWII but also in Korea later. The B-29 project cost over $3 billion dollars and was the most expensive military project of the war, exceeding the cost of the atomic bomb by approximately $1.5 billion dollars. At the end, they had created a high-altitude bomber that was not very good at high-altitude bombing and was plagued by engine problems.

It could carry 20,000 pounds of bombs (at low altitude) or be modified to carry an atomic bomb (Silverplate variant), had a service altitude of 33,000 feet cruising at 190 knots (max speed 310 knots), for 3250 miles combat range or 5600 miles ferry range with a crew of 11. The B-29 was state of the art in its time and brought interesting innovations to the bomber world. Of those innovations, the most important are that it was pressurized, that it used analogue computers for firing computations, and had a remote controlled firing system controlling five turrets of dual .50 calibre browning machine guns.

During WWII bombers were unpressurized meaning that the crews were subject to the cold of high altitude and had to wear oxygen masks above 10,000 feet. This made flying uncomfortable and the risk of hypoxia high. Once the airframe was pressurized, the crew could work in a better environment and not have to wear oxygen masks. The only problem was how does one open a bomb bay for the bomb drop or use machine gun turrets, which are all open to the outside, and still maintain the pressurization?

The answer to the first issue, the bomb bays, was to divide the aircraft into compartments with the fore and aft bomb bays open to the air and the flight deck, rear aircraft, and tail gunner positions pressurized and separated from the bomb bays by pressure bulkheads. This maintained the integrity of the pressurized areas while allowing the bombs to be dropped from high altitude. The flight deck and aft pressurized compartments were linked together by a pressurized tube which spanned the gap of the bomb bays and through which aircrew would have to crawl if they needed to get to the other area. The tube is very small (rough guess about 24 inches wide) so you couldn’t be very big if you wanted to get through.

The second problem of the machine guns needing access to open air was solved by two systems: unmanned .50 calibre machine gun turrets and a computer controlled remote fire control system utilizing advance sighting systems and analogue computers. It worked by having low profile gun turrets, unpressurized and separated from the pressurized compartments, on the aircraft with gunner positions in the nose, tail, and three blisters in the centre fuselage at which gunners sat with gun sighting systems integrated with the computers. When the B-29 was attacked, the gunners would use the sighting systems to track their target aircraft and the computer would then figure out a firing solution compensating for airspeed, gravity, temperature, humidity, and distance to lead the target, automatically move the machine guns into position, and the gunner would fire. On top of this, the

control system allowed a gunner to relinquish control of his turret to another gunner so that the second gunner could bring more fire to bear on his targets allowing for idle guns to be more effective. For example, if the left side gunner had no targets but the right side gunner was heavily involved, left side could give right side control of his gun and right side would double his fire power. The computer would figure out the firing solution for both so bullets from both guns converged on the target. It was so effective that they stopped sending fighter escorts with the B-29s with one report from a mission over Kyushu, Japan, indicating that one crew had beat off 79 fighters and killed 7 of the enemy.

The Russians also had a B-29 variant, the Tupolev Tu-4. During WWII, some American pilots on missions against Japan had to make emergency landings in Russia and, although the aircrew got home (not easily) the airframes were never returned. The Russians took the airframes and reversed-engineered the aircraft to become the Tupolev Tu-4.

FIFI’s history, unfortunately, was not that glorious. She was built in 1945, served as an administrative aircraft for a while and was then put into desert storage. She was reactivated from 1953-1958 until she was again retired, this time being placed in the China Lake Naval Air Weapons Station, Calif., with 35 other B-29s. During her stay at China Lake, she was subjected to desert heat, sand, vandalism, and was used for gunnery practice. By accident, it was noted that there were B-29s on station and the Commemorative Air Force (then called the Confederate Air Force, or CAF), once notified, went into action. In March, 1971, they acquired the best airframe of the 36 and then spent nine weeks scavenging parts from the other 35 B-29s to make her airworthy enough to ferry the 1,250 miles, six-hour and 38-minutes flight to Texas. Once down in Texas with the CAF, she underwent extensive restoration for three years joining the CAF in 1974. She flew until 2006 when she was grounded for a three million dollar engine overhaul that lasted until 2010. She has been flying and touring since 2010.

During the tour of the airplane Stuart Watkins, of the B-29 aircrew, noted that the ailerons of the bomber were still made out of fabric even though the rest of the aircraft was metal. He also pointed out the flaps on this monster stretch over a third of the wing length, including the rear of the engine nacelle, and comprised over 20% of the wing surface. He stated that this allowed the B-29 to be landed at under 100 mph. When looking at the cockpit, he asked guests to look out the forward glass of the distinct B-29 nose. Then he asked people to think back to the Star Wars movies and envisage what it looked like when the Millennium Falcon jumped into hyperspace and asked them to compare the visual of the movie to looking out the B-29 nose. It is the same visual as the Star War movie makers used the B-29 nose structure for the concept of the hyperspace jump. As a last piece of information, Don Boccaccio, also with the FIFI team, mentioned that FIFI itself was not pressurized due to costs and weight, and while not a problem for most flights, crossing the Rockies or other high altitude flights were an issue and they had to be very careful.

So, like all veterans, the numbers of veteran military equipment is slowly disappearing. The Arizona Branch of the Commemorative Air Force will have a North American B-25 Mitchell bomber at Gatineau during the week of 5th – 8th August, 2018, with static display and flights for sale. The B-25 was an aircraft that was used by the RCAF so it’s a rare chance to see a part of history, to see a part of Canada’s history, and make a little of your own history.

A Tribute to Danfield

From 1962 to 1965 Lucille Carmichael, Vivian Bagley and their children lived in the fictional suburb of Danfield, New York. Lucy and Viv say they've been living together for five years, coming together like a female odd couple after Lucy was widowed and Vivian and her husband Ralph divorced. The town was also home to banker Theodore J. Mooney and his family, who appeared on the scene in late 1963 as the custodian of Lucy's trust fund. They all lived in Danfield for 84 episodes over three seasons, although when Lucy finds a “Vote for Dewey” button under the sofa, it indicates that she could have lived there since at least 1948. All of the locations listed below were mentioned or depicted on the series.

Sanmar and Svitzer Deliver Power and Performance to Port of Sohar

Sanmar Shipyards, the Turkish tug building specialist, has followed up on recent deliveries of the two Sirapinar class ASD tugs to the Port of Sohar (Oman), with the delivery of the first of a three part order of the larger and more powerful Bigacay class ASD tugs. The arrival of this tug to the Port of Sohar, alongside its two sisters due shortly, will conclude the fleet development aims of the operator, Svitzer and Port of Sohar; agreed as part of the 15 year renewal of the formers marine services contract, awarded in early 2019. It is expected that the remaining two Bigacay class units will be mobilized to Sohar port together once the third unit completes sea trials in June. 

The Bigacay class deliver a whole new level of tug power and performance to the port. Gary Dockerty, Sales Director (Middle East and Africa) of Sanmar Shipyards stressed “The Bigaçay series was developed with our design partners Robert Allan Ltd. (RAL) for Sanmar exclusively and is a variant of the RAstar range described as ‘RAstar 2900SX” compact tugs aimed at ensuring efficient construction while still meeting the customization requirements of discerning clients.’ The design has a sponsoned hull form which is proven to provide significantly enhanced escort towing and seakeeping performance.

The trio, measuring 29.4m in length with a moulded beam of 13.3 and an overall draft of 6.0m, are  powered by  a pair of CAT 3516C main engines, each delivering 2,525kW coupled to Kongsberg US255FP azimuth thrusters for a mighty +80t bollard pull . As well as towage, the other services the tugs will be required to provide are: Fire-fighting, pollution response support and salvage operations within the Port. 

A comprehensive towing capability is ensured with DMT supplying a high performance escort towing winch forward along with an aft towing winch on one of the three tugs. A Data anchor windlass and Palfinger deck crane are also included in the deck equipment list while FFS provide a main engine-driven external firefighting system meeting FiFi1 notation via two forward bridge deck monitors.

Accommodation is provided for eight persons with master and chief engineer cabins on the main deck and three twin-berth cabins on the lower accommodation deck. All cabins are en- suite and with the area of operation in mind a comprehensive HVAC system is included throughout the accommodation and wheelhouse areas.

“We are all very excited to receive the first of the Bigacay class tugs here in Sohar. Svitzer Sohar, the first of the Bigacay class tugs, was recently delivered to Svitzer in Istanbul, and she is a huge step up with bags of power, a lightning fast winch – and being highly maneuverable, allows the operations to flow smoothly and quickly. The size and power of the tugs matches nicely with the Valemax vessels regularly calling at Sohar allowing for a higher margin of safety. She is also fitted with FiFi class 1 and provides Sohar port with 24 hour seaborne and quayside firefighting capability needed for the multitude of cargos being transported through the port,” as said by Peter Rosewall, Svitzer Port Manager Sohar.

Svitzer has previously placed orders with Sanmar Shipyards in recent years for 25 tugs in total, 23 ASDs and 2 ATDs, employed in the fulfillment of various towage contracts. Forth Ports Places Order For Next Generation Damen ASD Tug 2312

Damen Shipyards Group has signed a contract with Forth Ports Limited for an ASD Tug 2312. The signing ceremony took place in Tilbury Docks, UK on 26th February.

Representing Damen was Area Director Frank de Lange, while Forth Ports was represented by COO Stuart Wallace. The new vessel will operate as part of the Forth Estuary Towage operation, conducting towage work at various Forth Ports locations as well as providing towage services to other external customers in Scotland.

Forth Ports has a range of existing operations in the Forth and Tay Estuaries that will benefit from the acquisition of this new vessel, however, the new vessel will also provide opportunities to service new emerging markets such as decommissioning and offshore wind.

The ASD 2312 is well suited to operating in such an environment with such vessels; compact, but, with 70 tonnes bollard pull, extremely powerful.

She’s manoeuvrable too – thanks to her twin fin skeg and dual azimuth thrusters. The ASD Tug 2312 is a state-of-the-art vessel, one of Damen’s next generation tugs. The evolved character of the vessel is clearly visible in its safety features. The wheelhouse, for example, offers 86% window coverage, using impact resistant safety glass.

Meanwhile, the deck is obstacle free, reducing tripping hazards. The winch is located under the superstructure, which not only frees up space, but also facilitates towing operations both forward and aft. The tug is prepared for the future, being IMO Tierr III ready. Emissions are further reduced thanks to the tug’s smooth rounded bilge, an efficient profile that cuts fuel consumption. Damen has prepared a NOx Reduction System that can be applied to IMO Tier III ready vessels at any stage for full compliance.

Meanwhile, smart layouts and compliance with MLC 20006 crew accommodation and comfort regulations ensure the six-person crew are on top form at all times.

As a result of Damen’s philosophy of standardised shipbuilding, the ASD Tug 2312 was already under construction when Forth Ports placed their order with Damen, ensuring rapid delivery of the vessel.

While a standard platform, like all vessels in Damen’s portfolio, the ASD Tug 2312 is customisable via modular options. Forth Ports has selected a number of options for its vessel, including remote monitoring. This, ultimately, can significantly lower the total cost of ownership of the vessel. Amongst other things it provides feedback on performance so that sailing can be optimally efficient. It also informs whenever a part or component needs replacing, so that preventative maintenance can be carried out in order to maximise vessel uptime.

Furthermore, Damen will outfit Forth Ports’ ASD Tug 2312 with CCTV, FiFi capabilities, additional fendering at the bow and a winterisation package, amongst other options.

As Forth Ports required their new tug to be operational as soon as possible, Damen Marine Services (DMS) stepped into to assist. While the new ASD Tug 2312 is under construction, DMS is providing ASD Tug 2811 Pioneer to operate with Forth Ports.

Damen Delivers Two Fast Crew Suppliers To Seaways International Successfully

On March 4th at Damen Shipyards Singapore, Seaways International took delivery of two Damen Fast Crew Suppliers (FCS) 2206. The Dubai-headquartered company has previously operated a Damen FCS 3307. Seaways International specialises in offshore marine services and will use the new vessels to transport crew to offshore energy locations in West Africa.

Damen signed the contract with Seaways International on 9th of May 2018. The swiftness of the delivery is due to Damen’s philosophy of standardised shipbuilding. Building vessels in series and for stock enables the group to deliver proven technology to its clients in the fastest possible timeframe.

Kush Nijhawan, Director of Seaways International said, “Having worked with Damen before, we felt very confident in returning to them for these Fast Crew Suppliers. Not only were Damen able to deliver the vessels to us very quickly, they were able to customise their proven design exactly as we needed it.”

Though part of the group’s standardised vessel portfolio, Damen has tailored Seaways International’s Fast Crew Suppliers 2206 including the addition of FiFi with a capacity of 600m3 per hour and a throw length of 85 metres, additional accommodation and crew facilities, business class seating, fuel monitoring and a full 3G WiFi system.

The vessels will carry up to 30 passengers as well as six crew. Featuring Damen’s Sea Axe hull shape, the FCS 2206 provides optimal seakeeping at speeds of up to 30 knots.

The vessels will be transported on a heavy-lift vessel to Luanda, Angola. The third vessel is currently under construction at Damen Shipyards Antalya, in Turkey and is scheduled for delivery in July.
