Zamazenta got his Rotom Phone as a gift from Hop during Christmas one year. His phone is a dark red, similar to the coloration of his fur in his true form, and has dark blue accents along the border of the phone. He considers the phone to be his ‘buddy’, and will address it as such. Along with that, he is very polite to his Rotom Phone, saying things like ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ to it, and never being overly demanding of course. It still is a sentient being, after all! There’s no reason for him not to be kind to it when he can.

It helps him with things like timers for baking or his workouts, reminders to drink water/calorie load, any upcoming dates/appointments that are important, helps him look up recipes online for baked goods/other foods, and can text/call others for him when he’s busy with something. While Zamazenta isn’t inherently forgetful, he is scatterbrained and isn’t too proficient at time management ever since reawakening in the modern era. It helps with a lot of those more mundane things, which Zamazenta greatly appreciates and needs.

So, Zacian and Zamazenta are very recently discovered legendaries, but they’re very old. About 3,000 years old, to be exact. For a while we didn’t really know where exactly they came from, just that they were the ones to quell the first Darkest Day and fight alongside the two youths.

But! Thanks to research (well, more like me asking Zamazenta himself), we did uncover a bit more about their origins. 3,000 years ago, there was a species of wolf-like Pokémon who roamed ancient Galar. Unfortunately, in these ancient times, they were very misunderstood- often depicted as dangerous and evil in fairytales back then. These misinterpretations caused mass hunting of the species and pushed them to near extinction. With their numbers quickly declining, the remaining members of the species retreated for the countryside.

Unfortunately, that didn’t prevent their extinction. It’s possible that many of these wolf Pokémon died while trying to adapt to their new home, or that there just weren’t enough left to carry on the species. Eventually Zacian and Zamazenta were the only ones remaining.

The two youths from the legend supposedly found them as orphaned eggs, and without their parents the chances of them hatching were low. Now, this is information is all recounted from Zacian and Zamazenta’s telling of the events (yes, they can talk, most Legendaries can)- but apparently, the pair of eggs had their lives saved by some “divine force”.

There’s many possibilities as to what this force might’ve been- as crazy as it sounds, Arceus might’ve very well been the source of this power, as it’s said to have been the creator of all Pokémon, and of course created most of the Legendary Pokémon to guard over the world. It’s possible Arceus saw potential in the eggs to become protectors of Galar. Of course, Arceus’ existence can’t really be proven, so this is more of an assumption honestly.

There’s also a few other options- the revival of the eggs is very similar to a Johtonian legend about Ho-Oh restoring life to three fallen Pokémon who then gained godly power as a result. Though Johto is pretty far from Galar, and the chances of Ho-Oh just so happening to be in Galar at the time of this event are low. Xerneas is also a likely candidate, as Kalos is geographically right next to Galar. It’s not a stretch to say Xerneas could’ve watched over Galar from time to time, and used its power to save the eggs. Whatever this force might’ve been, it’s what imbued Zacian and Zamazenta with their own divine power once they hatched, which gave them the strength stop the Darkest Day. However, when they received their shield and sword, most of their power was transferred into those weapons. Which explains why they can’t achieve their full power without them.

It’s great that we managed to uncover so much about Galar’s history thanks to these two. It’s fascinating that they used to be two ordinary Pokémon, huh?

It’s sad to think we forgot about these amazing Pokémon for thousands of years. Sometimes I wonder what would’ve happened if… we didn’t find them in time to stop Chairman Rose.

…But we’re not gonna let their story be forgotten again! I certainly won’t. I… I won’t be able to look after Zamazenta forever. I want to make sure there’ll be someone to take care of him once I’m gone. Someone who’ll stand by him to protect Galar, if the need ever arises.

Anyways, thanks for letting me talk about the wolves! Sonia said she’s working on a second book with all this new information on them, hopefully she’ll publish it soon! More people deserve to learn about these amazing Pokémon.

Oh, and just a reminder that this is all information that’s safe to share with the public. I’m still responsible for keeping Zamazenta safe, so don’t go asking stuff like how to find him, his sister, or their weapons. That specific information is secret, unless in the case of an emergency and we need someone to locate the wolves.

Zamazenta has numerous scars across his body, all received while in combat. The most notable scar is one he has below his left eye, a wound that nearly resulted in him being permanently blinded if it had been a bit higher. There’s also a noticeable chunk missing from his right ear, mostly just part of the top being missing.

Of course, he has scars of varying depths and severity across the rest of his body, mostly his chest, back, and his arms. A lot of them were scars he received during the first Darkest Day incident. While he can take hits from Dynamax pokemon with relatively no problem, he is only so resilient and isn’t inherently invincible as he likes to think. The attacks start to wear away at him steadily and do more damage as he gets more exhausted.

He doesn’t really make an effort to hide or cover his scars up, and a majority of them are on full display. Zamazenta has no shame in the wounds he’s received, in fact thinking they’re badges of honor in a way, having gotten them while doing his utmost to protect Galar and its people.

Zamazenta greatly enjoys both cooking and baking, utilizing the kitchen in the lab or at Hop’s home (when it’s free!). He gets ingredients for what he needs on his own, sometimes trading with people in the Wild Area or actually finding what he needs there, picking fresh berries that he finds, or outright buying whatever he might need.

Curries are easily his favorite food to make, having a lot of flexibility in terms of what ingredients and flavors you can get out of them. When Zamazenta cooks for himself, he tends to pack his curries with protein and utilizes the spiciest of berries, while still throwing in some hints of sweet flavor so that the spice doesn’t overpower the dish entirely. Sweet is his flavor preference, but he also enjoys spicy foods.

When cooking for others, he’s mindful of their own preferences and tries to incorporate the things they like, and omit the things they don’t like. He won’t add the usual spice level to his food when he cooks for someone else, unless they like their food as spicy as he does.

Baking is another favorite of his, given the fact that Zamazenta has a massive sweet tooth. Things like cakes, cookies, pies, etc. are deserts he loves to both make and eat. The Battle Cafe is an often enticing place, with Zamazenta going there to buy all sorts of treats and confectioneries. Sweet hearts are his absolute favorite, without a doubt or a question. The way they look is so cute to him, and the chocolate is super sweet and rich. Working with chocolate is a bit tricky, and Zamazenta is still trying to learn for the most part. The sweet hearts he make usually look... more like circles than hearts. The chocolate is good still, it’s just shaping them that throws him for a loop.

Cooking and baking for other people especially is probably the driving reason why he still strives to learn more and improve his skills. It’s something that’s important to him, being able to share his food and show his love and care through cooking.

Zamazenta is big on being respectful towards others, using titles when and where he can, such as addressing Sonia often as ‘Professor Sonia’. This also extends to royalty as well, and in dealing with Galar’s royal family in the past, it’s become a bit ingrained into him.

He addresses Zacian’s family with such titles, despite not having to.

Addressing them in such a way isn’t truly necessary, as Zamazenta isn’t a fairy himself, but he does so to be polite anyways.

Zamazenta gets most of his money from finding valuable items in the Wild Area. Being Galar’s most massive, and central piece of land, it’s a great place for him to wander and roam. It’s also a great place for him to keep an eye out for any trouble that might be stirring, or if anyone needs help of any kind no matter how big or small the problem may be. He still is one of Galar’s protectors, after all.

Beyond that, he does have a tendency to find valuable items like pearls of varying sizes, star dust, star pieces, and even the rare comet shard here and there. The pearls he usually finds along the banks of the areas with water, though Zamazenta won’t go in the actual water itself considering he doesn’t know how to swim.

It seems these items crop up every day, new items appearing in different places. He takes what he finds and sells it to collectors, being the best source of earning money he’s found so far.

Zamazenta does spend some of his time at the lab doing light weightlifting when there really isn’t anything going on. He does like to workout when he has the time for it/when he feels like it, as keeping himself in shape is important. He naturally has a more muscular build, and he doesn’t want to slack and lose out on it.

He prefers to either wear tanktops, sleeveless shirts, or loose-fitting t-shirts as to not feel too overly constricted, and generally wears comfortable gym shorts or sweatpants.

Working out is Zamazenta’s biggest hobby by far, and is something he puts an immense amount of time into. Being a fighting-type, honing his muscles and physical strength is actually incredibly important, as is keeping himself in shape. In the past, before the invention of gyms and weights, he would help out people in various towns and cities in Galar with heavy lifting. This can be moving heavy sacks of flour somewhere, barrels of alcohol or other liquids, furniture, or any other heavy object that were troubling for people to lift on their own. He was able to do it by himself, and it was a good way to do weight training outside of training as well.

Now that he’s awake in modern times, Zamazenta has gotten himself a membership to an actual exercise gym, given that most people don’t need as much help with heavy lifting anymore thanks to more modern inventions that allow moving heavy objects much easier. Not only does working out help keep him in shape and refine his physique, it also helps him mentally as well. He tries to go to the gym for, at MINIMUM, an hour a day, six days a week, giving him a rest day during the weekend. He also has weights that he uses at Hop’s home, and will run with them to the lab if the weather allows.

Protein is the biggest part of his diet, along with carbs. It’s not uncommon to see him with a protein drink of some kind, loading up on as many calories as possible for his workouts. Zamazenta tends to eat around 3,000 calories, burning them extremely quickly and utilizing the energy food gives him to gain muscle mass.
