Second, are we talking about Hangman after he retires from the military due to some injury (because let's be real…he's not giving up the Navy unless he is forced to)? Cause that guy is suave, smooth, and would irritate Rhett to no end.

Or are we thinking hardworking Hangman who didn't join the Navy, but stayed behind to help his family? He's still very charming but got less of a polished edge. He's more likely to be competing against Rhett in the rodeo somehow.

If it's option one, I can see a story where Rhett and the reader have been dancing around each other for a while. He’s dragging his feet because he feels like he's not good enough for you, doing dumb stuff like getting drunk and sleeping with random women. She’s pining for him, but then Hangman blows back into town after being away since high school and sees the little nerdy girl he remembers is all grown up.

I imagine the Seresin family is probably like the Tillerson's, got lots of land and money while the Abbotts are struggling. In this scenario, Rhett would be a little more forceful about his dislike of Hangman and overprotective of the reader. Hangman would clock Rhett’s secret immediately and enjoy pushing his buttons.

Now, does this end with a threesome, Rhett finally manning up and getting the girl or does Hangman sweep the reader away?
