feeling sick, so i stayed in bed and watched dept q and i just have to say.... the most unrealistic thing about it isn't the office by the showers or that the scottish government would approve a "substantial" budget for a cold case department, it's the fact that everyone hates carl. like, yes, objectively he is a bastard, but he also spends the entire series with unkempt floppy hair and dressed in shades of blue that match the repressed sadness in his eyes. also, he has a sweaty panic attack in the middle of the road and gets clocked for it in front of the entire country. i REFUSE to believe there isn't a small-to-medium sized pool of women in his vicinity who don't think "i could fix him" or "he's fucked but i'd do it anyway."

I truly believe that if you’re going to engage with Greek mythology then you have to put the moral purity aside. None of the characters are going to behave according to our modern sense of morality or ethics. So you either have to get over it OR you have to be willing to dive deeper into the narrative and research the context. Instead of saying “Zeus is clearly a predator” ask yourself WHY are there so many stories about Zeus having babies with mortal women? What’s the significance? Dive deeper into the story and realize the location is ALWAYS mentioned and focused on. See that the child that was conceived typically goes on to do world changing things such as founding a new kingdom…a kingdom that’s usually related to the location that the narrative kept focusing on….huh I wonder why? Perhaps maybe these stories are not about how Zeus likes to get his dick wet (forgive my bluntness Big Poppa! 🙏🏻) but about kingdoms and royalty wanting to link their beginnings to the King of Kings himself??? Maybe????? Possibly??? But I’m just guessing 🤷🏻‍♀️

Again, maybe not accurate, but interesting tidbit… 4x01 possibly not directed by Ayo like we previously thought… She mentioned writing for S4 but not directing again…

You were happy with Kelly. The two of you had been together a while. He was an amazing boyfriend, and treated you well. You were half in love with him. Everything was going good until an off hand comment at mollys threw your entire world off balance. 

“You know he’s cheating on you right?” you spun around to face the woman who’d said it. “What?” she nodded towards Kelly where he was playing darts with Matt and Jay. “A man like that doesn’t go from bed hopping to monogamous as fast as he supposedly did with you. His type cheats on shift, that way they have the ability to say but baby I was at work how could I be cheating?”

You wanted to say something, react, fuck hit her but you froze. It felt like you’d been dipped in ice water. Was Kelly cheating on you? “Oh honey, did you just start connecting dots?” she whispered then walked off.

Kelly lost both games of darts then walked back over to where he’d left you talking to Herrman and Violet. “Hey baby” he greeted. You tried to smile, it looked genuine enough but it didn’t reach your eyes. “What’s wrong?” he asked and you shook your head “I think I’m just gonna go home tonight” 

You stood to walk out and he reached out for your arm “I’ll take you home” you nodded slowly “Ok”

You were silent the entire drive to your place. Kelly kept looking to make sure you hadn’t fallen asleep at that rate. When he pulled up in front of your building he parked and turned to face you “Did I do something?” you shook your head “No, I’m fine” and started to get out of the car but it was like something else hit you so you turned to face him “How did you manage to go from your past to monogamous as fast as you did with me?”

“What?” he asked and you shook your head “Never mind” and damn near jumped out of his car but he wasn’t letting it go that easily. He got out and followed you. When you were almost to your door he slipped his arms around your waist, holding you to his chest “Talk to me”

“Are you satisfied with just me or..” “Or what?” he pushed before you turned to face him “Are you filling the gaps in?” his arms eyes as his arms dropped “You think I’m cheating on you?”

“It’s just…you’re used to variety then you get cut down to one thing. You work a lot..” he nodded “Ok? Who needs a variety when you found what you want for the rest of your life? As far as working a lot, so do you? I don’t get mad” 

“Nevermind Kel” you whispered and he shook his head “No, who did this? Who put this in your head? Baby I love you” you froze because neither of you had used those words yet. He grinned at your reaction “I do, before you ask if I’m sure. I am. I love you. I’m in love with you. That’s how I made the change so fast. I found something I can’t lose. I want you every day for the rest of my life. I was going to wait a couple weeks to do this but do you want to move in with me? I’ll start calling you more regularly on shift. I’ll wake you up at two am just so you can see it’s me on my cot and only me. I just want you baby”

You swallowed hard, tears sliding down your face “I love you too Kelly, it’s just the idea of that…it terrified me” he nodded, pulling you into his arms “That’s when we talk, ok?” you nodded “Ok. I love you” he grinned and pressed a kiss to your lips “I love you too”
