Happy Friday All!

In early 2020 (before Covid), I was painting larger paintings like this with Acryla-Gouache. I was really enjoying the medium.

I was inspired by a couple of photos by Annie Bertram on Deviant Art and asked permission to use them for reference.

Since I was just doing these for myself... I had NO plan. No test drawings. No layouts. I just started drawing on a large piece of paper and figured it out as I went.

Because of this... I never really figured out what to do with the hand on the left.

So... it just kind of disappeared.

I may go back and add it in later, I think.

But, for now... it's always a reminder of a time where I just broke out the paints and... played.

A couple months later... Covid hit and it was 3 years until I did my next large painting (the Gothic Vampire).

(Note: I can't find a reply from the photographer regarding permission or not. My memory is I heard back. But I can't find it.)

I DID hear from the model Theresa Fractale, a couple of years later, who was VERY upset that I had sold some postcards of the painting without her permission.

I was mortified. I hadn't even considered reaching out to the model. I offered her and Annie Bertram all of the profits I made from the sales, but she wasn't satisfied... and we left it at that.

These things DO happen with artists. Sometimes people claim you've "stolen" their art or style or likeness. And sometimes they have legitimate reason to do so.

Me, personally... I believe that artists should use ALL of the world around them for inspiration and if it is HEAVILY influenced by one artist or work of art... CREDIT them.

But change it. Don't directly copy it (unless you're studying someone's work... in which case... copy away).

But always credit.

I believe I REFERENCED the photos above, but didn't copy them.

But, I DID heavily reference them and, honestly, had NO intention of selling it (I still own the painting) or prints (I had only sold a few postcards before being contacted by the model... then stopped).

In any case... if the model or the photographer is unhappy with me selling prints... I don't sell prints. It's that simple.

Their work directly inspired MY work and while I feel that I've changed it enough to be unique... I don't want to cause another artist harm in any way.

Every artist is different. Some are open to sharing their art (like me) and others are very protective of their art.

But, there are no RULES to art. There is no such thing as "cheating" in art. There IS copyright LAW. And that is theft.

But that law ONLY (as far as I know) works if you are SELLING a copy of someone else's work. Profiting from it.

Not for learning. Not for practice. And not for posting online.

Just please... PLEASE credit the artist you're copying. Tell people why you are copying.

Nowadays, if I'm going to do a painting I plan on making prints of, I either use stock photography I've paid for or I get permission and pay the rights holder.

But, this is ONLY for pieces I want to sell prints of.

You do NOT need permission to use photo reference or even copy another artist's work for your portfolio or to post online.

Credit them. Share your inspiration with others. Tell them why you copied the works

But you don't need permission simply to make art. Ever.

Art should be shared. Copied. Studied. And most of all... enjoyed.

When we found you, it seemed like you were disillusioned with some things, and you felt unhappy, and you didn't want anyone to see you this way, but, well, we kind of stumbled into your hiding place and started asking questions. But you got better! In the last transmissions we got from you before The Incident, you were talking about feeling and wanting things again, and you were excited to see Will (you knew that he was coming!).

you all were very nice, though. sorry for forgetting. i wish i hadn't. i don't know. i didn't like going through that when i was in it, but i guess being here i was worried because i wasn't perfectly happy. like sometimes i just sit and look at your little icons. or i listen to the little bits of static between your questions. and i felt bad because um, well, i've gotten something i've wanted for a long time. why can't i be perfectly happy?

but there's something nice about knowing i felt like that even when i was barely holding on to a little bit of consciousness. i think it's just part of me.

and that maybe i'm just like this. it's nothing wrong with will or where i am or what i'm doing.

it's like one of you folks said. actually feeling pain and negative emotions kind of lets you start feeling the positive ones as well. you were all so smart, and so kind to me. as much as you were strangers to me, i was also a stranger to you. and you didn't have to help me or care about me. so thank you.

Well, that was a ride, but I'm glad you're safe here with me, handsome. And for what it's worth, I figure it ain't possible for anyone to be perfectly happy, even me!

not sure if youve done this yet but maybe yandere turtle hcs with a fem reader who finally mentally broke from everything theyve put her through to a point she obeys but is completely blank like no other emotion, quiet unless told to speak, is almost robotic, when they try hurting to get a reaction out of her she just doesnt react at all already used to it pretty much just all around traumatized and resigned. i wonder who's more likely to be happy about it or more concerned.

like if they ask what's wrong with her all she could say is "isn't this what you wanted?"

even more so when she's given more freedom as time passes but she doesn't budge at all knowing its futile anyway

I have done this before, on multiple occasions; however, I will expand the idea since there are a few differences between the requests.

Now the thing I will explain more about is who is the most + least concerned.

Most:

Least:

You see, Raphie never wanted to see you broken. It was his clinginess and anxiety that made him act this way. So he feels horrible, to the point he'll blame himself. Now, you guys are both broken. It could go either two ways: he lets you free and waddles in a life full of sadness or, you guys stay in the lair together, cracking slowly. The best thing you can do is therapy because it benefits both you and him.

Mikey freaks out if you show any sign of unhappiness. So it's kind of obvious that he shows some sort of worry. But there is one thing that puts him below the list in comparison to Raph. He's impulsive with his actions sometimes, which leads him to assume the wrong thing. He thinks that maybe you don't feel loved enough. And it's not that he's delusional, no he literally just thinks the wrong idea. Additionally, he's the least likely to kidnap and isolate: meaning this will never happen.

I'm sure people are going to say something when I say the twinsies are the least concerned but it's true. And it's for similar reasons between them.

Donnie already struggles with emotions, so this confuses him. Like, you're given everything you would need or want. So why are you so downcast? Sure, he kidnapped you, which is morally incorrect. But he can't help it! He adores you (not that he would really like to admit it) and wants to have you next to him at all times. Plus, he can keep you safe and ensure no bad influences come your way.

Leo's reason is only slightly different from Donnel's. He believes that you're receiving the love you need. So, hating him is just odd. One thing I would like to add; he would be surprised his manipulation hasn't worked yet. You're supposed to be delusional by now: clinging onto him and accepting his love. Like Mikey, he's less likely to kidnap you, as his manipulation substitutes kidnapping.

2. What’s your total AO3 word count?

1,220,396. I had a goal to hit 1 million before the end of last year, and somehow I've written 220k since then???? Howmst?

I do but I am now horribly behind because y'all are so lovely and I am a little overwhelmed. I like to respond because people took the time to leave a comment and I want them to know how much that means to me (it's a lot. it means a LOT). I promised I WILL get to them eventually!!

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Definitely Who's Gonna Love You (The Mandalorian), which is a no-comfort breakup angst fic. I wrote it after having my heart ripped out by reading two unhappy ending fics lmao. Have never gone back to the truly unhappy ending again. (I have done some bittersweet or ambiguous ending fics, but those don't reach this level.)

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Most of my fics have quite happy endings, but I don't think you can beat a fluffy ending at the end of a long fic. I often go for the chapter full of pure, tooth-rotting fluff (after tearing your heart out lmao). That means Nova, Baby, Love is a Losing Game, A Good Man Is Hard To Find, Amor Magnus Doctor Est... probably the most pure fluff at the end.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I've had some here and there. One particular person who just kept coming back and I'm like just stop reading????

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I do, but when it comes to one shots I'm probably more likely to leave it out. My smut always comes with plot and/or lots of feelings. I like writing it best as part of a larger story, actually.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

I haven't for a while but I have two requests I need to fill. Previous crossovers have been The Mandalorian/Battlestar Galactica (because badass ladies named Cara/Kara), and The Mandalorian/The Witcher (because surly dudes with accidentally adopted children). Oh I guess my most recent was TMFU/Glass Onion (because Hugh Grant).

Not that I’m aware of.

Can't choose! I love all the ships I write for—that's why I can't stop.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I don't think I have one of these. I have one abandoned WIP that I've anon'd because I hate it lmao. Generally if I want to finish something, I will.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Plot (I unabashedly love many of my plot twists), action sequences, dialogue/banter, world building, characterization?

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Although it should be straightforward because see: action, I feel like my smut is kind of lackluster. Sometimes I hit the notes just right and it really works, but other times I feel like people just get bored.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I'm unlikely to do it unless I have a native speaker I can run it by (I have some wonderful Russian friends who have been vital for this for some TMFU fics).

Xena: Warrior Princess

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

I will scream about this one until the end of time, especially since it's relatively low kudos'd: the 60s chess AU, Love is a Losing Game. It's my most complete and well-structured novel, and I promise you don't need to know anything about TMFU to read it.

No, please. He's already letting Beliath do his make-up, you're not going to do it too. He's not a doll. When you sigh with disappointment, he gives in straight away. You can put make-up on him yes, but don't look at him with sad eyes, it makes him unhappy, he hates to see you sad.

He's not ready to try any daring make-up. He wants something very discreet and passe-partout, a nude make-up that will hardly show and he won't go out of the manor wearing make-up, he's already afraid of hearing other people make fun of him, so he's not at all comfortable with the idea of going out like that, even if you assure him that no one will make fun of him.

He won't try to see the result in the mirror unless you allow him to. It's not that he's not curious, but he wants to please you by doing what you tell him. However, he asks you a lot of questions, he knows he has fragile skin and he worries about the make-up you use on him. He wouldn't want to damage his skin.

In the end, he likes the attention you give him while you're doing his make-up. You talk a lot about the products you use and he even asks you questions about them. But that's not all you talk about, of course, and he understands a little better why Béliath likes doing other people's make-up so much - it's a good way of getting to know them. He might ask you to do it again sometime, as long as the make-up is discreet. If it allows him to spend a little more time alone with you, he's not against it.

He blushes a lot when you tell him he's beautiful, but he needs a little more encouragement to dare to leave his room wearing make-up.

Béliath :

He loves having his make-up done, he really does, and it's a shame because no-one ever wants to do his make-up in the manor so he often finds himself doing it alone in front of his mirror and he finds it horribly boring, it's not that he doesn't like his reflection, it's just that he can't see himself having a conversation with it. If you suggest it, he'll accept straight away and will even bring you his make-up bag (or rather a bag, given everything he owns).

His make-up depends on what he wants to do, he appreciates bold as well as discreet make-up. In fact, he has a whole palette of different-coloured eyeshadows and lipsticks that he loves to use for different occasions, from the most discreet to the flashiest colours.

He'll constantly try to see the result in a mirror before you've finished. He also tries really hard not to give you too much direction and to let you do what you want, but it's difficult. He's so used to putting make-up on himself and others that he can't really let you do it without coming up with several ideas in a row.

He's over the moon to see all the attention you're giving him, you're having a great time together and by the end of the make-up session you know all the gossip that's going on at Moondance and in the manor. He's hoping you'll offer to do his make-up again, perhaps you could even wear matching make-up when you go to Moondance together.

He's really happy when you tell him he's very handsome. He didn't doubt it, of course, but hearing you confirm it fills him with joy. He'll go and show off his make-up to everyone in the manor without the slightest hesitation.

Ivan :

He's really tempted to refuse when you ask, mainly because he's afraid Ethan will make fun of him, but he gives in when you promise not to take a photo of the result. He's quite curious to see what you could do. He never does his own make-up, but sometimes lets Beliath do it if the incubus insists.

He'd prefer something fairly understated, but if you're convincing enough, he might try a bolder make-up look, but he won't set foot outside his bedroom in that case. If you do it often enough, he might start to trust you enough to ask you for make-up in a gothic style, he's always dreamed of trying it but he's always been too scared of mockery to do it.

He tries to see what you're doing in the mirror, but after you've reprimanded him two or three times he stops. He doesn't want to make you angry with him, even though he's dying to see the result. He doesn't really know what colour would look good together so he trusts you completely to get a pretty result.

The attention you give him really pleases him. He talks a lot while you're doing his make-up, especially about the latest band he's been listening to or the latest video game he's played. He'll also ask you questions about yourself to get to know you better. He's very curious about your favourite singers, so maybe you could go to a concert together if you like the same ones.

He won't come out of his room if Ethan is in the manor, but if the doctor isn't there he'll probably come out to show the others his make-up, after all, you did it and he's happy with the result.

Aaron :

He doesn't see the point of putting on make-up, but agrees to please you. After all, it doesn't cost him anything and it seems to please you. What's more, he already lets Beliath do his make-up when the incubus asks him to, so he can't see himself refusing your request.

He's not really interested in the type of make-up you do for him, he doesn't know enough about it anyway to have an opinion on the subject, whether it's discreet or daring make-up will suit him. Nor do they have a good idea of which colours go well together or which do not. He's doing it mainly to please you anyway, so you can let your imagination run wild.

He doesn't try to see himself in the mirror until you allow him to. Aaron's quite patient so even though he's curious to see what you're doing with all your different coloured powders he resists the temptation to look at himself.

It's a rather pleasant moment. Although Aaron finds it very difficult to sit still while you do his make-up. He asks you questions about yourself, he's mostly interested in your willingness to do his make-up. What's so fun about make-up that you and Beliath want to make up the others? But he'll discuss just about anything with you. He would be very happy to talk to you about poetry, astronomy or history, as long as you avoid subjects relating to war.

He's happy when you're happy with the result. He doesn't mind leaving his room once he's made up. After all, he's lived through several eras when make-up was fashionable for both men and women.

Raphaël :

Raphaël is totally in favour of you doing his make-up. He doesn't even hesitate for a second, he loves make-up, especially as it's less toxic now than it was in his day. In fact, he often wore make-up when it was fashionable. He doesn't have his own make-up though, as he always asks Beliath when he wants to wear make-up, so he always uses the incubus's make-up.

He loves bold make-up, but wants to keep it elegant. And he also has a lot to say about how you match colours. After all, make-up is a bit like painting a picture, and he knows a thing or two about it.

He's very curious about what you do and wants you to describe everything you do. He listens to you quite attentively at these times and suggests colours that might match the one you're already using. He's also impatient for you to finish so he can go and show the result to the other members of the manor.

Raphaël is the one of you who talks the most and he really has a lot to say. At first, he talked mainly about make-up, but gradually the discussion moved on to literature, art and music. He's a real chatterbox and when he stops talking it's to ask you questions about yourself, he wants to know how often you wear make-up, what colours you prefer, what styles of make-up you prefer.

He's very flattered when you tell him he's beautiful, and doesn't hesitate for a second to get out of his room to show the others. He's ready to do it all over again as soon as you want him to.

Ethan :

No! He totally refuses at first. He even tells you to go and suggest it to Beliath or Raphael instead, after all, they'll accept without a second's hesitation. He changes his mind after you've left his room, perhaps he might accept… but you don't take any photos and he certainly won't leave his room like that. Ivan will take the opportunity to make fun of him, that's for sure.

He wants his make-up to be very discreet, really discreet. However, he has a preference for bluish tones. So he'd certainly appreciate a few touches of that in his make-up.

He's a bit scared of looking in the mirror and feeling ridiculous, so he doesn't try to see his reflection until you've finished. However, he finds it hard to sit still while you're doing his make-up, Ethan likes to move around a lot and standing still for several minutes isn't one of his favourite pastimes. He makes an effort to please you, though, and tries to stay as still as possible.

He's quite quiet at first, and it's mainly you who talks to fill the silence. However, he gradually starts to talk. First he asks you questions about the composition of the make-up, then more personal questions about you. He's quite curious to know why you want to do his make-up, whereas Béliath and Raphaël love make-up and would no doubt be delighted if you offered it to them.

It's impossible to get him out of his room once he's made up. However, he also offers to do your make-up, He's never done make-up on anyone, but with a bit of practice he thinks he could be pretty good at it.

Neil :

He's not very keen on the idea, but if you insist, he'll agree, as long as your make-up is of a very high quality. He used to wear make-up when it was fashionable, but he didn't really like it. The powders were unpleasant on his skin and he didn't like the smell of the products either.

He prefers make-up that is discreet and above all light. He wants his skin to be able to breathe and he doesn't want to feel like he's put his head in a paint can. He's quite pleased when he realises that make-up is much nicer to wear now than it was in his day, and the products don't smell as bad, so he's not worried about getting a headache from wearing them too long.

He doesn't try to see the result until you tell him to, and he really doesn't mind standing still for several minutes. It's actually quite pleasant, after all, he loves to be looked after and he really enjoys seeing all the attention you give him while you're doing his make-up. If he wasn't paying attention, he might even fall asleep.

He doesn't talk to you much while you're doing his make-up, but he listens to you. He does ask you a few questions sometimes, particularly to find out what you like so much about the idea of doing his make-up. He also wants to know if you'd like him to do your make-up afterwards - he's not used to it, but he thinks it might be quite nice.

He's not at all bothered by the idea of going out wearing make-up. In fact, he thinks the make-up you've done looks pretty good.

Léandra :

You haven't even had time to finish your sentence and she's already accepted. She loves make-up. It's something she's done every day since she was a teenager. In fact, she has a whole photo album of make-up that she's already tried so that she can easily redo it whenever she feels like it. She also offers to do your make-up when you've finished with her.

She has worn all kinds of styles since she was a teenager, from the most discreet to the most flashy. So she knows exactly what she likes and doesn't like. Depending on what you intend to do after you've done her make-up, she'll show you several different photos of what she wants.

She can hardly contain herself from telling you what to do and is dying to look at herself in the mirror, so you'll probably have to put a blanket over the mirror while you're doing her make-up as she'll do everything she can to try and see herself in the reflection. She'll also talk to you a lot about how to match colours and may even give you make-up tips you didn't know about.

She chats a lot with you while you're doing her make-up. She tells you all the gossip she knows about succubi and incubi, and asks you lots of questions, especially about how you'd like her to do your make-up. She has more than enough make-up to do the look you want and enough knowledge of the subject to make you feel like you've just stepped out of a professional's shop.

She's not at all embarrassed by the idea of going out wearing make-up, in fact she's rather proud of the result and really wants to be noticed. It's even better if you wear make-up too, she's sure you'll both be the stars of any party you go to.

Farah :

She's not used to wearing make-up at all, even when it was in fashion she didn't see the point. However, she will agree to let you put make-up on her if you ask, after all, make-up seems much more pleasant on the skin now than it was in her day.

She really prefers discreet make-up. She wouldn't feel at all comfortable with bolder make-up, especially if there was a lot of colour. And she trusts you completely to match colours together, she's never really been good at knowing which colours go well together.

She doesn't for a moment look at herself in the mirror while you're putting make-up on her. However, she does have a bit of trouble staying still - sure, her pack can handle itself for a while - but she has a lot of trouble relaxing and not thinking about all the things she still has to do.

You might be able to help her relax by talking to her and taking her mind off things. She loves to talk about her brother, or about birds, and is very knowledgeable about birds of prey, so if you start her on the subject you'll probably find it hard to stop her. She will also ask you questions about yourself, mainly to find out if you get on well with the rest of the pack or if you want the pack to stop at a specific place next time.

She's not afraid to show off her make-up to the rest of the pack, but she'd probably be a little more uncomfortable going out in town like that. She doesn't wear make-up very often after all, so she's a little worried that it won't suit her, so don't hesitate to tell her that she's very beautiful.

i think they kinda know but i don't even talk about it much

these are some of my sketchbook pages

but only the ones with sketches i wasn't happy with

i can be very perfectionist with the stuff i do which is why these pages have never been seen like this before

yeah there are finished art on some of these pages and some that i've posted here

but it sometimes takes me a lot of different sketches to get to the art that i show

and all for different reasons

maybe the facial expression is off, maybe the pose is, maybe i just can't look at it and say i like it

but i still share a lot of what i finish even if i'm not super happy with it

and i keep the bad sketches

because learning curves and all that.. but also i draw in pen so i kinda have no other choice unless i want layers of sticky notes covering my pages

when it comes to writing i will walk away when i get frustrated that it isn't working

i'll let it stew for a while and then when i come back i'll rework what i think needs to be reworked

this is part of the reason i have part of a prologue for my separated au that isn't finished. i got to a point and got stuck i have worked on it and it now feels a bit choppy to me but at least getting somewhere

and i always have plans to post my writing stuff 90% of the time. but that's not gonna see the stuff i'm unhappy with becasue it's all been deleted

how covid unsocialized me.

it's hard for me to even wax poetic about my experiences because I saw how little anything mattered. so many of us died and even more wrote it off like god was thinning the herd or like the most vulnerable of us getting picked off was deserved because of what the most brutal and uncaring of us did. it made me form a stark contrast between who I thought "us" was and who I realized "they" are.

it made it really hard for me to live day to day without ruminating about our systems and how unhappy I am playing pretend doing stupid shit to make money for people who proved to me that they don't care about me. why am I doing this? why do I have to participate ? how are the rest of you happy and complacent this way, but how dare I say that? in what way have I proven myself a pure saint of a paragon? I have sinned with my apathy.

now I'm so completely disillusioned with any attempt to care about anything because I watched in real time as everything shifted. as covid broke us and rebuilt us for THEIR convenience. yes being gay is okay, to sell you stuff. but we'll take your rights away. yes we care about work life balance... but only if our job controls our access to healthcare and we have to be there more than enough to warrant the work we do.

and it's not like it was great before! it's not like something amazing was ruined and I'm just mad at covid for fucking it up. it was bad and it was a matter of time before something sparked change, and I feel like that was supposed to be covid. if it wasn't that, it was gonna be something else. we had this whole opportunity to actually change and heal the earth and ourselves but we FUCKED THAT UP. we're STILL FUCKED UP YEARS LATER. how many more years of this am I going to witness and bear apathy to because I have no better choice???

it feels with so much bad shit compounding on top of each other, like an unhealthy mind, our unhealthy society ruminating on their problems and blaming each other instead of getting up to help has just left me defeated. the fight goes on and I am no soldier. it's every day. it's always feeling stupid for feeling hopeful and then feeling regret for overcorrecting with rage. I feel like my words are so foreign and long winded to people now that expressing myself, like trying to be saved during COVID, was useless. I legitimately have thoughts like "well at least people who are dead now don't have to worry about what a shit world it's becoming lol" but I can't even EXPRESS that I feel that way because Tumblr police in my head from 16 years of being on the only website that hasn't died yet -- but only has a MILLION rules you have to abide by unless you want a callout post and to develop borderline personality disorder -- will remind me that thoughtcrimes are actually that serious like just as bad as the real shit that is happening with the people with guns and money and power and law making abilities and you should be killed for them too. even though the war is bad. like, these rules don't make any fucking sense but I still have to abide by them.

and then I go into these huge metaphors and assumptions about life and it's echo chambering in my own brain and I actually feel like I turned into the joker. except I'm not even allowed to relate to that because everyone in the ship tag you follow to try to alleviate some of the symptoms of the rot on your mental health that is Daily Life has become an expert on how you should think about them too and they will also kill and ostracize you for having a headcanon that maybe onions have layers sometimes and then you're just better off rambling in every text post you ever make and then deleting it because everything you've ever said has gotten a decreasing amount of notes until it's become 0 and every single one of your artist friends has followers in the thousands but still wants your pity because hating ourselves is too addictive to ever trying to be positive about anything.

A Wrinkle In Time, Chapter 8 - The Transparent Column

In which we achieve half the plot's stated goal!

Meg demands the man tell her what he did with Charles Wallace. He pretends he's done nothing. Meg gets shouty, but Calvin says they should focus on tethering Charles Wallace's true self to themselves, hold on to him so he's not lost somewhere. They try to physically restrain Charles's body, but he's stronger than he should be, and the red-eyed man's attendants cut in when they get too rowdy.

Charles, who until further notice is really just the entity speaking through Charles, says they had it all wrong, they've been fighting a friend, even their father's friend. Meg says if her father says the man is a friend, she might accept that, unless he's under a spell like Charles. Charles scoffs at the idea of spells.(1) He uses a term that sets Meg off further, because he's never called her "dear sister".

Calvin asks that the entity stop speaking through Charles, as they already know it has him hypnotized. The man calls that word primitive, but allows it, and has his attendants release Meg and Calvin. Calvin asks what he is, but the man says that's not important. Calvin asks if he'll escort them to Mr. Murry, but the man can't leave this place, it will be Charles who guides them. When Calvin asks when, the man replies, "it might as well be now."

Charles indicates for them to follow, and starts walking, clearly not his own gait. Meg hesitates, but Calvin follows, so she must as well. She half wants to grab Calvin's hand, but she's done nothing but look for hands to hold since this journey started, so she balls up her fists and puts them in her pockets.(2)

On the way, Calvin tries to focus and telepathically draw Charles back, but the entity speaking through Charles suggests he not try that again if they want to see Mr. Murry. He doesn't even call him that or father, simply "Murry". Meg asks if that's what he'd call his father now, and Charles says if Meg needs a father, better to look to IT. Meg finally asks what IT is.

"All in good time," Charles Wallace said. "You're not ready for IT yet. First of all I will tell you something about this beautiful, enlightened planet of Camazotz." His voice took on the dry, pedantic tones of Mr. Jenkins. "Perhaps you do not realize that on Camazotz we have conquered all illness, all deformity--"(3) "We?" Calvin interrupted. Charles continued as though he had not heard. And of course he hadn't, Meg thought.

Essentially, if anyone gets so much as a cold, they're murdered. Before the story can deal with that, Charles makes a wall flicker and grow transparent, for them to move into a small room. Calvin asks how he did that, and Charles says, he just rearranged the atoms. Matter is mostly space, so if you convince it to move in closer, you create spaces.

Meg realizes the small room is an elevator, and it's just starting to move.

Charles says they've conquered difference, and Meg should be able to relate to that: her differences are what make her so unhappy at home. Calvin protests, he's different and happy, but Charles points out that Calvin pretends he isn't different. Meg says she might not like standing out, but she doesn't want to be like everyone else either.

The elevator stops, letting them out, though Calvin barely makes it out before the wall rematerializes. Meg accuses the thing in Charles of wanting to leave Calvin behind. Charles just says he's teaching them to stay on their toes and discouraging them from causing more trouble, so he won't have to bring them to IT.

This time, when Meg asks what IT is, Charles answers.

"You might call IT the Boss." Then Charles Wallace giggled, a giggle that was the most sinister sound Meg had ever heard. "IT sometimes calls ITself the Happiest Sadist." Meg spoke coldly, to cover her fear. "I don't know what you're talking about." "That's s-a-d-i-s-t, not s-a-d-d-e-s-t, you know," Charles Wallace said, and giggled again. "Lots of people don't pronounce it correctly."(4)

Charles goes on to say that Camazotz is perfect because it's a hive mind, one mind to rule them all, IT controls everyone and they can all be happy and not cause each other pain or hardship. Meg says Earth isn't perfect, but forced conformity can't be the only other solution. She wants to go home, but Calvin says they can't leave yet, but she's right, this place is Evil.

They continue onward, and Charles shows them the boy who bounced his ball wrong earlier, bouncing it perfectly in time now, but screaming in pain with every bounce.(5) A little further down, he makes another wall transparent, showing a room with a glass column in the middle, in which stands Mr. Murry.

(1) Much as I abhor Joss Whedon, the "dear, we live on a spaceship" scene is one of many from Firefly that lives rent-free in my head. (2) There's nothing wrong with wanting reassurance that you're not alone, Meg. (3) Again, kinda nice to see this in the text of a children's book, considering how frequently ableism can creep in from the sides. This one's not getting everything as right or as consistent as you might like (see: Calvin's mum) but, I think L'Engle tried as best she could for her own framework. (4) While technically derived from the Marquis de Sade (which is pronounced "Sad"), "say-dist" is quite the more common and acceptable pronunciation in modern English. I don't know if or when there was a transition from one to the other, it's possible that "sad-ist" was more common or considered more acceptable when this was written. But, it amuses me that the prescriptionist in the room is incorrect. I wonder how many kids took this entity at its word, though. (5) Processing, one assumes. Reconditioning. Whatever you might want to call it besides evil.

Visiting Baji's grave doesn't bring Kazutora any comfort. He'd once thought it might, that he might feel closer to Baji here. For 10 years he'd thought it might. But the first time he'd visited had destroyed that idealistic thought in a swift blow. He feels closer to Baji on the edge of rooftoops than he does in front of this headstone. It feels so impersonal here among all the other graves. Nothing about this is Keisuke. Maybe it would be different if Kazutora had gotten to see the goodbye ceremonies, but he doubts it.

" Hey Kei. " Kazutora sits down in front of the grave, staring at the headstone before he gives a slow exhale. He's not sure where to begin. Where would he start if he was writing a letter? That thought doesn't help him, it just reminds him of how long its been since he's written a letter to Baji. He still has them too, all of the letters from Baji. He chews his bottom lip and turns around, till he feels the stone base against his lower back. It reminds him of times when things were too much and Kazutora would sit back to back with Baji fingers laced together. Sometimes they talked. Sometimes they didn't. Sometimes just Kazutora talked. Sometimes it was Baji telling him dumb ass stories or giving really crappy episode recaps.

He stares at the cloudy sky and sighs. " It's hard, you know? " He admits after a moment. " The holidays are rough. You're not here. Some of it is lonely. " That isn't anything particularly new though, it's been like that most of his life. " Though you would've laughed your ass off at Chifuyu trying to get some of the animals into the holiday outfits. It was hilarious. " He cracks a smile at that. He had videos of that saved on his phone. " We totally would've made you dress up ridiculously. " Baji never could say no to Kazutora anyways, even if he would complain to the high heavens.

He draws his knees up closer to his chest, gold eyes flicking around the headstones. He's free to be here, but there's still a nervousness to it. The thought of seeing anyone from Toman here makes dread curl in his stomach, like he's a tiger that snuck into town rather than being welcomed in. " The pet store is doing really well. Chifuyu puts a lot of hard work into it, but the customers are always praising it and the animals are always happy. Except for bath time. " His smile reappears and then fades away. " Was that his dream too? Or was it just yours that he's carrying out for you? " He asks the silence; he won't ever get an answer. And he won't ask Chifuyu.

" It's nice to work at. I like seeing all the animals, and helping the more wary ones warm up to people. " That's old news though. He taps his fingers, as if it will help the words come to the surface. " Sorry. There's things I want to say, but it feels weird here. We'll talk on the rooftop tonight, 'kay? "

Kazutora stretches his legs out but still doesn't turn around. " Chifuyu...I worry for him. My problems aren't for him to concern himself over. " At least, not unless they affected Chifuyu. He had done more than enough just taking him in for a while and offering him a job. " He should be enjoying this life he's made over the last twelve years. " But that's easier said than done isn't it? Especially when the reason you can't is standing beside you, working with you. " I don't know if me being around is making things worse for him. I think it might be. He misses you a lot. " He thought it'd be you with him at Pah's wedding. Every step of the way in life probably.

He sighs, pushing himself up from the hard ground and back onto his feet. " To be honest, I'm not really sure how well I fit into this lifestyle. " He admits. " I guess you always dreamed about this sort of life. I never really did " The future had always seemed bleak, so he'd clung onto moments instead. " It's not bad, I'm not unhappy. It's just...." How does he even explain it? " I worry Chifuyu will blame himself if I do something or think he hasn't done enough when he has. I don't want to drag him down. " Kazutora had already done enough to not deserve everything as it was.

" I dunno. I've had some thoughts. I'll see you tonight, okay? At the usual spot. " Only then does he glance over his shoulder to smile weakly at Baji, sitting on top of the headstone watching him with a frown. Ah damn. He was wearing the Valhalla jacket this time. Kazutora lingers a moment longer before he turns, walking back down the path. Would it ever feel better visiting here? He was doubting it. Maybe next time he'd try flowers.

A lot of people seem to think tae is the reckless one in the relationship, in terms of “exposing” them and really wanting people to know theyre an item but i disagree with that. I dont really think they want people to know theyre in a relationship for obvious reasons: lgbt is not accepted in korea, especially because they havent enlisted yet. There are LGBT koreans, but most of them come out after enlistment. I feel that tae is aware that the general public will be oblivious and wont suspect a thing until it explicitly comes from their mouth or that there is “undeniable proof”. I think what really triggers taehyung is the aspect of the company putting extreme and unnecessary restrictions on them. I also think the bad blood between tae and the company is not just because of taekook, but how they treated him early on. I would assume the reason why jungkook has ill feelings towards the company is for similar reasons. There has been many times when both parties slipped up, so to speak, and u can tell it was pretty unintentional too. There are plenty of instances where tae has an “oh shit” moment because he thinks he revealed too much. I think there is just so much closeting you can do to a person, which is why we see a lot of slips up between them.

I agree with a lot of what you've said here.  I don't really think they want people to know about them, per se, and I definitely don't think that anything either of them do is intended to reveal themselves or anything like that.  I think it's sort of nuanced.  Like you said, most people aren't going to assume anything.  A lot of people have blinders on when it comes to non-heteronormative relationships anyway.  So unless and until Taehyung and Jungkook were to come out and explicitly state that they're in a romantic relationship, the vast majority of people will never think that's the case.

I'm sure they know that, at least at this point, and while I think it's impossible for us to know how much that may or may not bother them, it has to be part of their understanding of their situation (if they are together -- or really, even if they're not; it's still something they would rely on for the protection of any relationships they might have outside the group too).

Being closeted is hard, though, and I think there's room for anyone to feel conflicting feelings about it.  You can rely on the benefits of secrecy and still resent the need for it, and sometimes those internal conflicts can result in actions or behaviors that don't always seem to line up with each other, motivation-wise.

I also do think there’s an element of openness to them and their relationship recently (as far back as 2020, but especially so these last few months -- maybe because they knew this break was coming up?) that’s new.  I think it’s possible that there’s a degree of feeling there that if people who are supportive put it together, it’s not a big deal, since that’s hardly the same thing as truly being out, you know?  And it’s seemed for a long time as though they like it when people like them together.

As far as tensions between Taekook and the company go, I definitely do think that the brunt of their resentment has come from their being separated a lot over the years.  I think that because we can see them reacting poorly to it in clips, the entire May 2020 V Live exists, and since they've been separated less over the last couple of years, they seem more at ease and happy.  If there are any conflicts between them and the company outside of that, though, I can't really see what they are.

Maybe I've missed some details, that's completely possible, especially since I confess that the BTS/HYBE relationship isn't particularly interesting to me, but if some of the slip-ups you're referring to are about the two of them expressing any kind of unhappiness with Big Hit, other than the separation issue, I'd be interested to hear about them.

Not necessarily this fic but I've seen many where the readers desperately want the mc to get back together with the cheater and honestly that's unhealthy on so many levels. Irl that only works out for some people but majority of people who get back together with their cheaters are almost always unhappy or are extremely insecure or suspicious. A relationship is built on trust without trust might as well through away the entire relationships because unnecessary arguments arise. When someone cheats on you and you get back together with them there's always that little voice in the back of your head like what if they're doing it again. They come home a little late and you're suspicious. Their phone rings randomly and you get anxious. That shit isn't healthy and it messes with your self esteem. Why put yourself through that..maybe love yourself a little more or put yourself first. Those little voices also lead to unnecessary arguments and accussations that just stress out both parties in the relationship. One person thinks the worse of their partner and they other grows frustrated because their past "mistakes" are being thrown in their face. It's not good for either person. Walking away from relationships that you put time and energy into is extremely difficult so I'm not saying it's going to be a walk in the park but as cardi b said "it's gonna hurt me to hate you but loving you is worse" if you don't trust someone who you are supposed to share a home with, a bed with the relationship is basically destroyed before it can even go anywhere. Just heal. I know some people are able to get through those type of situation but just throwing out random not fully accurate statistics here it probably only works out for 3 or of 10 couples who have gone through cheating situations. Staying in damaged relationships is literally like drinking poison. It's a slow agonizing death that destroys your mental. Honestly sometimes it upsets me when people chose to stay in toxic relationships. I have to keep reminding myself that it's not my business but sometimes when it happens to people close to you its infuriating because it's watching a loved one be it friend or family member refuse to love themselves. You played with fire and got burnt so what you're gonna play with the fire again just to confirm that it did in fact burn you ?? Your happiness, self worth, value should not come from someone else let alone someone who went out and knowingly hurt you. Cheating isn't an accident you don't accidently put your d*ck in some or have someone put their whatever in you, that's a conscious decision...most times but in terms of for example being drunk if you get so drunk to the point you back out and cant remember what you did that's just irresponsible (unless ofc you were dr*gged).

Anyway this a whole long drawn out rant on what I think about cheating situations and basically me hoping that y/n doesn't get back together with ****. Because then to who wants a man that easily left you for someone else thinking they fell out of love with you only to come back on their knees a few months later? If it was that easy to throw away a 5 year relationship once who's to say it can't happen again. Who's to say that if they do get back together he may meet some other chic that makes him think he's out of love with y/n again. Truth is you never know if someone will fully change so might as well not put yourself back in that situation. But that's just my opinion tbh. I know others may feel different and I fully accept their view on this matter too. I feel strongly on cheating because things in fanfics most times isn't how it is in real life and sometimes it sells fantasies to some readers. I'm honestly tired of seeing fics (not this one because it hasn't ended yet so I'm not going to judge) that have the mc go back with the cheater with literally no repercussions and its just all fine and dandy I forgive you let's have 5 kids and a house on a farm type situation shit in a matter of like 2 months. Like that shit isn't realistic and even for the couples in real life who do overcome those situations, it's not without some struggles and most times therapy.

Well... yeah. I can't lie... a chunk of the photos I've posted are mine or my friends. While I'd rather not have to prove myself to the anon ask, I can point out each individual screenshot from me or someone I know if I needed to.

When they're not mine I never take credit and it says very clearly on my account that I will remove or add credit to photos on request if the owner is unhappy.

If I really wanted to get into the technicality of it (this is where law class finally helps me) all photos I use, excluding art, could be used without any 'credit' due to the content being a screenshot of Nintendo brand products that's free to use (mostly) for us lot. So I don't even owe the courtesy of offering removal... of course, I would never not do that - that would just be ridiculously rude. I will always provide the option of removal, no matter the reason. What Im saying is there's, by technicality, no obligation if you want to be literal about it.

All the photos that I dont take myself are pulled from my Pinterest. My special interest is Animal Crossing and I have (as of rn) 5,924 Animal Crossing pins and by no means the time to hunt down each individual owner. And for many of the photos I use, especially the ones from old games, there is the issue of being unable to track down the original poster.... it's not even like Im bad at this... I edit the Animal Crossing Wiki, so you know I can produce sources. Its just that sometimes that source is beyond your reach. That doesn't mean Im not going to post the pretty Animal Crossing photo from 2015 or the meme that got a chuckle out of me. If I see a meme on Pinterest that originated from Tumblr then I don't save it or use it, Ill just find the original.

Finally, art is something that I respect a lot as an artist, so I hesitate to post any art if I don't have the source available to me. You might notice a distinct lack of art on this blog at a baseline and that's because of this concern.

I gotta be honest here man, unless you're the owner of every post Ive ever made then Im not just gonna stop posting. Im at no point claiming to own all these photos, but a good chunk of them are screenshots from old games, with owners who don't even exist in the ac world anymore. Many new screenshots include a handy-dandy watermark which I never remove and in the worst-case scenario most posts can be, at the least, traced back to my Pinterest.

Im not going to stop posting memes, screenshots and the occasional irl AC craft because Anonymous said it was bad. If you have a personal issue because I used something of yours I encourage you to just contact me directly and I can remove it, but until that point please have a nice day.

Detroit: Become Human. The Fandom has literally built these characters from scratch. It's all just headcanons and mutual agreements. Someone wrote something once at some point, people liked it and thus it became a consistent fact. It's hilarious. (But also: Fuck David Cage.)

Horizon: Zero Dawn. Oh no! That's so unfortunate! I think watching a Let's Play would also be enough! As I definitely can't cover all the important details. Unless you want a literal essay. There is definitely an active and very talented fanbase! I haven't taken a peek into Fanfiction (yet), as I am not much into ships in this franchise. In canon, there isn't really a love interest for Aloy! There's a lot of implications and possibilities to interpret her which is absolutely fantastic. Guerilla Games (the developers) are also very keen on representation! Lots of Queer characters are casually dropped and the second game has a disabled character as one of the mains.

Supernatural. I agree. Enough said about this, I have nothing to add.

Duskwood. Jake is definitely a bi icon, I won't accept anything else. It was a shame the developers didn't put that in. I think they might consider doing it for the next game in planning, as it's high demand within the fandom (and very likely we will see him in the new game, although the new and old game have little to do with each other). As for gore, I would say no or at least not in the sense that I understand it. You see blood and a character in typical Being-Kidnapped-Disarray, but nothing too extreme, honestly. The Mini-Games are in-between certain scenes to have the illusion of time passing, basically. It's one of those Connect-3-Games. They can be very frustrating, as they tend to be difficult the more the story progresses.

describing dabi as a toxic kicked puppy when in love is. painfully accurate. i think once he lets those walls down for you it's a flood. of everything. desperation, fear, insecurity. it's just so much. too much. he can't moderate it. so you get the full force of it. which isn't necessarily awful. not really. he's exceedingly loyal, and oh so desperate to prove himself to you. to prove that he's worth you loving him as much as he loves you. to prove that he's worth your love at all.

but it's a lot, sometimes.

he's needy. much more than you would expect. he's constantly in your space, trailing after you, your desperate shadow. and his insecurity is glaringly obvious and manifests itself as.... possessiveness, a lot of possessiveness. you can't really go out with him anymore, not unless you're willing to risk him causing a bit of scene. which he will. if he thinks someones been looking at you a little too long. although he really really tries not to because if there's one thing he hates more than the thought of you slipping through his fingers, it's when you're unhappy with him. he can't have you unhappy with him. it's pathetic the things he'd be willing to do to get back into your good graces. he's always the first to reach out after an argument, not with a verbal apology necessarily, but that's okay. acts of service is his love language anyway. he always always finds a way to make it up to you.

the nice thing about dabi is that its so easy to see exactly how much he loves you. even if he does attempt to hide it under false nonchalance and indifference. he really is just a...puppy. a toxic, dangerous, lovesick puppy.
