anonymous asked : Lydia: Ben and Laurence (but hopefully he's alive here)
Tell me who you think my character should have a th.ree.some with.ย -- still accepting
ย ย ย ย ๐๐ก๐ ๐ช๐ฎ๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐ฆ๐๐๐ ๐๐ฒ๐๐ข๐ ๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐ค ๐ข๐ง ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ฉ๐ซ๐ข๐ฌ๐ ๐๐ง๐ ๐ข๐ง ๐ก๐๐ซ ๐ฉ๐๐ฎ๐ฌ๐, the ink ran ruthlessly across the page of her half-finished intelligence decoding. For now, the stain went undetected as she pondered what exactly made someone ask such a cruel question at this time of day. The sleep hadnโt left her eyes yet and here she was expected to give an answer on whether or not she would sleep with both her departed husband and her recent lover.
ย ย ย ย If Laurence was still with the living, as given in this scenario, she wouldnโt have been with Ben. That was the cruel part of it and if Laurence went against fate and common sense with a miracle that he was alive once again, she couldnโt supply an answer for what she would do then. Wouldnโt it be right to go back to her previous partner? The man she was initially wedded to? Their marriage was assumed to last for an entire lifetime, so would she be a sinner to deny him? Lydia didnโt think she could break either of their hearts, but if that imaginative scenario did come to be, she would--
ย ย ย ย It didnโt matter. This was a question that demanded an answer from her in the present. Thankfully, the person was sympathetic enough to only ask one question regarding the two.
ย ย ย ย It was hard to imagine how this would play out and she doubted the two knew each other enough to not be awkward around one another at first. Laurence was always open to ideas, but he took monogamy more seriously than he took most things. He wouldnโt have taken up such an idea, and she assumed Ben wouldnโt want to be in the same place as--
ย ย ย ย Here she was again with her whirlwind thoughts. She was giving it more thought than what it was worth and her time was being wasted here each second she looked more into it. None of this was possible, thankfully, for her to truly consider what she would do.
ย ย ย ย โ If both were willing, I would be open to it, but I fear jealousy might arise between the two. โ And thatโs all the question required: a yes or a no answer. She squeezed her eyes shut and took in a breath, trying to quell her mind from reaching into those dark depths again.

( ooc ): This isn't really suitable for this blog, but since I'm test writing Laurence on another blog I'm throwing this here and I will reblog it there.
Despite not having any kids in his marriage with Lydia, he has always wanted kids and wherever he went, kids would basically flock to him. I think he just carried this gentle and welcoming vibe to him that children really picked up on and trusted, they weren't really "blinded" by an allegiance in the war despite Laurence being a stubborn Patriot in his views. So just imagine him having all these kids "bothering" Laurence during the day (when he was in Philadelphia, not as a soldier) with wanting to play games while they followed him on his errand runs. Or when he was a soldier, camp flower's children would sneak out of their area of camp and talk with Laurence because they saw him as a brother figure.

curseconsumed asked :ย โLife is mostly just learning how to lose.โ (From Jacob to Lydia, maybe in the situation we discussed about Laurence's death?)
Plotted asks. / @curseconsumedโ -- always accepting

For months, she knew things werenโt going well, Laurenceโs life was on the line, but she thought sheโd have one more day with him. He still could talk and he always looked at her with love in his dark-colored eyes. Now, all she had was the memory of him and his fresh clothes Lydia cleaned in his drawer.ย
ย ย ย His words are supposed to be a comfort, but as she draws a breath, his words sting under her grief. He did all he could to keep Laurence alive and thatโs the most noble thing one could do. โ You sound like you speak from personal experience. โย Beyond your job. Instead, she pushed it onto him to avoid thinking of her own loss for a moment longer. Sure, she experienced loss, but never to any grand extent. She lost items, lost a chance at passing a quiz, lost a stitch when she attempted to knit, misplaced floss and thimbles. She lost a family member once, but no one she was close to.
ย ย ย She closed her eyes and tightened the grip of her hand clamped over the other, turning the skin pink by her intense hold on it.
ย ย ย ย โ Thank you for keeping Laurence company in his final moments. Youโre a good man. โ I couldnโt do your job.

Tw: death mention, anxiety mention, partner death mention, implied violence.
ย ย ย ย Thinking about how love is both a strength and weakness of Lydia's. Can be used as a weapon, a motivation, and a relaxer in the most stressful of times. If you go after Lydia's partner, you are essentially going after Lydia because that's her weak point. How anxious she can get when in a relationship because of the everyday possibly of her partner dying or getting harmed with her having no control over it.
ย ย ย ย Sheโll try not to be possessive or air any of her worries. But regardless, there will always be a look on her face or an atmosphere around/from her whenever her partner has to leave without her. A real fear in her chest moment. Mostly because she always assumes the worse will happen to them when they are gone and this wasnโt helped any by Laurenceโs uncontrollable and sudden death.
