I have to feel for poor Irina, she didn't know if she'd ever see him again and. Even in Pars, right? She couldn't have known for sure that he would be there or that he would even be alive.

For all his blindness and rage he still didn't want any harm to befall on Irina. He was trying to protect her, no matter how he tries to spin it as “later use”.

Hilmes has a bad, bad tendency to double down and make things worse instead of taking a step back and deescalating. We see this pretty early on w the maid, we see it now with this.

Tis a bad habit for him, he needs to be able to break free of it.

Irina. Does. Not. Care. She wants you to have the throne because she wants you to be happy, not because that's the only way you could ever have worth in her eyes. She fell in love with Hilmes, not Shah of Pars.

On that note, I wonder how much Zandeh knew about Irina? I guess not much, since Hilmes likely saw the plight that fell Maryam as his failure to protect Irina and... he's not one to be able to be open with his failures, I don't think. And he has been repressing the hell out of his happier days too. So he likely wouldn't have talked about it. Maybe this was the first Zandeh ever heard of this.

Jovanna is a twelve which like all twelves was a creation by the Illuminati. However unlike all the other twelves who were basically blank slate with no purpose other than to blindly follow orders like a flock of sheep and be nothing more than a living weapon. Jovanna had her own sense of humanity and awareness.

She didn’t want to do something just because someone else told her to. She wanted to do something because she wanted to do it. She didn’t want to copy other people’s identities but instead have her own identity. And she didn’t want to be seen as a simple genderless freak but as a cute girl who wants to go out and see what the world has to offer. She also wears a translator device to help make it easier for her to communicate with others.

This photo is from yesterday but we met up with this little girl and her mom again (third day in a row) and they love each other so much 😭🤍

We hung out with them all over Málaga for 5 hours! The girls were like let’s goooooooo and the mom and I were exhausted by the end lol

That was really nice though, I’ve never experienced that. Connecting with a mom and just being able to have a 5 hour conversation and not have it be awkward. She was very vulnerable, very open about her life. It was refreshing, because I’m like that too. Like… just lay it on me, idgaf about pleasantries, tell me all of the wonderful and terrible shit about you 😆

Her ex is the Cuban one, she’s Swiss and Italian. Honestly, her stories about him made me very grateful that I married outside of my culture. I know that’s not a great thing to say, but to meet a decent Cuban man that won’t cheat / take advantage of you in some way is … almost like trying to find a needle in a haystack. The machismo aspect really poisons the minds of men. Their inability to tap into their emotions and be honest with themselves, with others… ugh it’s sad. I truly only know a couple of Cuban dudes (and one is my brother) that I would trust to be an upstanding partner.

Cuban men (and more women than most other cultures) commit adultery and just… lie to their spouses and partners. This guy had a gambling addiction and the mom I’m hanging out with (M) is a successful influencer who makes a great salary from social media. Guess who “borrowed” money from her and never gave it back? Yeah.

I wish I could say differently, there’s lots of beautiful things about the Cuban culture, but the reverence for marriage / partnership ain’t one of them.

Go go go Daylam folk!!! Part of what inspired the whole Areyan-starts-off-a-coordinated-resistance-in-Ecbatana was this arc with the Daylam residents banding under Kubard's leadership to defeat Lusitanians, the other part that inspired it was... wait for it... from Otoyomegatari.

Am I, perhaps, obsessed with both manga? Probably. Most likely.

I am incredibly sorry to break this to you, my dear, but Pars has been lacking justice for a long-ass time— in fact all countries have some level of injustice mostly unseen... Hilmes was wronged, that much is correct, but can he be a good ruler? Should he get the throne just because that's what he was meant to have from the start?

The world isn't fair, and it certainly isn't kind.

But that's why we humans have to be.

And Hilmes...

He still has a long way to go in being fair and kind.

But god do I want him to fucking grow, god please Hilmes please unfuck yourself a little bit and survive and earn a kingship please you lovable asshat T_T
