idr if i ever posted mirage or caroline/roxie here but yayyy revamped ocs .. they used 2 be apart of a universe i called bopzverse n they were the complimentary universe to something else called bitzverse i def didnt post about .. they were my personal marvel and dc . lol.. anyway. i mixed the two universes 2gether to save brain space so heres and new design for these 2 bc i liked writing them in their solo stuff

roxie has had a few designs/names over the time ive written her .. ive decided to make her a plastic man type of character also because he og powers were flight + fire andi thought of "tyre fyre" as a villain name and it was perfect for her .. her costume is a mix of bright fire colors + her old hero costume before becoming a villain. she used 2 be apart of a hero team but hse felt underappreciated and underused so she quit and mirage helped her become a bad guy i guess. her old costume was based more off of blue flames.

mirage hasnt changed 2 much design wise sinceive made him but his story has def had a revamp since his og writing .

these are 3 members from the "society against superheroes" a sort of legion of doom esqe group.

slate is the intentionally but also very unwilling leader. hes an immortal priest who doesnt know what a car is and he talks and sees to ghosts. i made his last name charlatan bc i found the idea that his family is where the word charlatan came from and he is completely unaware of what the word now means. he was originally based off of john Constantine

slate is the one who makes up all their plans because Every Single Other member of the team are jackshit stupid and insane. slate also has his demon ex boyfriend trapped in a bible that he sleeps with at night because it keeps the ghosts away and he can actually rest. dont read into that <- slate probably

pariah is a sort of mix between catwoman + cheetah. she specializes in Clawing The Shit out of people and robbing clothing stores. pariah joined the group bc she was lonely and wanted friends to rob places w. she has her own side story planned bc shes the main villain to liek .. two vigilantes (?) and she likes fucking things up on purpose

veronica was the lead singer of a heavy metal band and she gained her powers by getting struck by lighting during a show . she immediately decided to rob banks with her powers and attempted to recruit her old band mates but they were like "nah fuck that" so she mind controlled them w her powers. she was inspired by Livewire !! when i want 2 think of her personality i think of her as an incel

in their group theres ..... like three others i havent drawn . one is a shapeshifter, one is a 16 yr old who looks 10 and is also a fairy and the other is a raccoon . they all collectively have 1 braincell

a quick chr chart for a group of kid superheroes (but technically most of them are adults so this is their backstory n whatver)

alan carrion - dark magic shit . i dont actually know what he specifically does. telekinesis?? hes strong. he looks like a baby

maximus janus eleguard (his name is ridiculous on purpose) - time travel or futrue sight . one of them. teams support. he also likes butterflies

mel addington - the academy's teacher is her adoptive father so the disappoint hits harder. snake powrs. like medusa or whatver. she also has telekinesis

hugo i forgot to write a last name down - super strength! team leader. hes 13 and he hates living. he likes . dogs

skyla i also forgor - sensitve aim. super sight or whatever. archer. nerd i think. kind of mean but like shes 12 so who cares

oliver something - flashlights on his hands. thats it . teachers pet he sucks up all the time and it annoys everyone

floris uhhhhhhhhhh - music based superpowers . shes also a transgirl and living in the academy sucks more for her. wants 2 be a vigilante

corduroy addington - their teacher/mentor who sucks. might be a robot or hes genuinely just that cruel. who knows

i also tried showing their general relationships but theres a lot of them so ill sum it up:

max is friends/friendly with mostly everyone . even corduroy! it s apartof his backstory illtel laerter

alan mel and max are all specifically besties., alan and mel arent particularly friends with anyone else though

hugo is only friends with skyla and maybe oliver. hes not very friendly but hes 13 so its whatver

floris and oliver are best friends

skyla is also defacto 2nd leader and acts kinda high and mighty about it but yknow 12 so its fine

only oliver really likes/cares about corduroy

ok this is message is from me whos about to post this after typing all of it. there is . A Lot here so im gonna put it under a readmore but the copious amount of infodumping is just what i do when people ask about my ocs... hope this isnt too long or overwhelming to read lol..

OMG OK ok so i collectively call all my oc stuff "wttu" (welcome to the universe) but i have 2 seperate oc universes (i have a lot of ocs) ones called godsworld and ones called newsworld. newsworld is really random & spotaneous & where i dump all my silly ocs and godsworld is the more coherent one with a solid storyline & worldbuilding. i feel like talking about godsworld ocs right now so that's what ill do ! ok so quick synopsis. godsworld is a multiverse comprised of many dimensions, all created by three gods named time, choice, and destiny. magic is real and common and magicians have existed since the beginning of time. there's also a few very special super magical very powrful beings / demigods called all-seers which were specifically "blessed"(idk how else to put it) by the gods. these are the 4 all-seers as of godsworlds present:

(sorry for the doodles im drawing these as i type) william and miso were created by the gods and given allseer powers later in life and around 200 years later the same thing happened to gertrude and mitchell after they met william and miso (yeah these guys are like ancient immortal people i call them the four immortals) anyways that's like the ancient stuff lore so now let's get to the main stuff the main storyline of godsworld centers around a kid named tobias , and a guy named cremini finding out they're going to be the next two allseers, mainly because of their connections to tobias' late father (and creminis ex classmate ex roomate and sort of ex boyrfriend) Larry.

and like. that's kinda where the lore and worldbuilding part gets vauge because the present is kind of just these guys having adventures and doing fun stuff while honing their magic skills. there's still a little more to talk about though.

after living out his childhood in a town called santerton, tobias went to live in a magical sanctuary in a dimension that the four immortals made and where miso and william live called the Home(creative i know) where he met 3 other guys around his age that are now his besties ;

parker is royalty from a dimension that's still in the 1800s (hes pretty smug and arrogant both bc of his upbringing and also just because that's his personality), carson is a city kid from a dimension that's still in the 90's (he's a pretty chill guy despite his circumstances and the oldest out of all 4), and daniel's from a remote fishing town in a dimension that's somewhere in the 2010s (who ironically, loves fishing and is also just really energetic and hearty in general). on the other hand, cremini, after finishing college at a very prestigious school for time and dimension studies that mitchell teaches at and fulfilling his childhood dream of time traveling and then accidentally throwing himself into a white void Because Emotions, met. this guy.

his name is dylan. and he is now cremini's boyfriend and they live together. he loves books and reading (which he gained a love for after gertrude [who is a librarian] helped him with pushing through his dyslexia). honestly idk what else to type, that's kinda just the general gist of the main characters in godsworld but there is like a lot of lore and history and a solid timeline with lots of stories and characters in the whole world of godsworld as well as a lot of worldbuilding stuff that i didnt touch on so i think the fact that this is a relatively consice recap says. a lot. anyways if you read down to here i genuinely appreciate it and um please dont hesitate to ask more ocs questions wether that be in my asks or dms or whatever <3

Because I’m not dedicated enough to make a huge list of sub and dub comparisons of DSoD I’m going to be using this one line to illustrate my general thoughts on the matter. I do want to preface this post by saying I’m in no way trying to rip on the dub or vice versa. There are some things from the sub I like better and some from the dub I like better (for real, hilarious lines like ‘You fight me with fruit’ and ‘perfectly coiffed hair’ would only happen in the dub & I love it xD and even more powerful ones like ‘You set me up... But I knew you’d set me up.’) Also, given accessibility for many people, dubs are honestly necessary, not everyone can read subtitles. It doesn’t always mean they’re being that lazy English speaker (tm) who can’t be bothered. I will also say I don’t know too much about the dubbing process and what goes on, if the dubbing writers get to see a full translation of the original script, if they get to talk to Japanese people during the process, if the VA’s get to read the original script as well, etc. So keep that in mind.

However-- This scene itself is one of the perfect reasons why when analyzing lore stuff of any artistic creation that gets localized, I use the original Japanese first and foremost. I think people that only see the dub sometimes forget that a lot can be altered in the translation or give off a totally different vibes because LANGUAGE IS COMPLICATED.

Both versions are sort of saying the same thing, but given how word diction works and how it’s phrased if you only watch one version you can get totally different vibes from the same scene that hasn’t really been censored in any way. (As for once, DSoD had no censorship between versions) Order, diction, what is said and what is left out and emphasis can make the same idea/sentence have many different meanings in English and different things can be inferred from what is said and what is not.

The Dub line here is very vague, it says the power of the Plana and talks about how it can rewrite reality-- but what that truly means is left pretty open-ended. It’s far less explained what the Plana as a whole is shooting for and more so focuses on Diva’s personal vengeance.  This can make the plots of the Plana seem kind of foolish and confusing because it's far less concrete-- it makes them harder to sympathize with because we don’t understand really what they are after and why--we see Diva’s desire for revenge at that moment and that’s about it (which he later lets go too, so).

The Sub line is still pretty vague because the Plana is a soft magic system, but it is also used more in an example and says exactly what can be accomplished with its power. This one is saying that everyone evil (unknown if that includes people that aren’t outright evil but aren’t Plana members) will be changed into light and a new dimension/world will open and in that new world the Plana will be able to create a utopia, (which makes a lot of sense given how many Buddhism motifs and ideas are alluded to by the Plana it’s not a 1:1 with it, but there are a lot of simularatires).  Through this version it’s not all about revenge as the end goal, it’s to achieve things thing that has both been promised to them and also this mission that has been entrusted to the Plana to create this new world free from Earthly suffering. This is far more understandable and easier to sympathize with because we actually understand it better. Or at least know more what it is about. There’s a concrete A -> B.

But not only the Plana members, but it also makes everyone’s else’s actions more powerful-- we know better what the Plana is capable of and thus when Yugi turns down the offer to join it’s much more powerful. But that’s a post for another day.

Back to the main point, this doesn’t mean the Sub is # better than the dub in every way fite me -- ugh no. It just means it often elaborates more which in some cases can make it more compelling (though of course the Sub has its weaknesses as well and so does the manga, which of course, the movie was following the manga continuity). And at the end of the day, because the movie was made in Japan in Japanese even though the translation process has room for error in itself as you often can’t get across the exact meaning you want (or certain cultural things are a given in one culture and not the other) it is closer to what KT & the other staff intended than a dub which has passed production hands several times. In many cases the sub and dub of yugioh are so different you have to treat them as separate entirely.

This isn’t to say people can’t enjoy dubs or draw upon them for fanwork or their own personal viewing/reading of the content, of course not (personally I take a mixture of both). I guess all I’m saying is it frustrates me when there are as big gaps as there are and different vibes between the versions that people will do things such as write off Kaiba’s actions in DSoD as “lmao so stupid what a sore loser lmao he’s never gonna win give it up bro”  or knock Diva only down to “petty/revenge dude who wants revenge (tm)” when there are so many more layers that were meant to be present, but got altered and the vibe the work as a whole changes just by a bit of a language barrier and how specific and finicky word choice is.

Dude yong jie’s character is literally unbearable this is like how not to write a vharacter 101

Our first intro to him is stalking, then PUNCHING someone in the LIVER bc the person he “loves” was fucking drunk and he blames his best friend? Then his mom is like “lmao actually um hes psycho” so anything they try to do retroactively like how they peppered in HIS DAD DIED A BLOO BLOO but previously it was also his OWN MOM going “im afraid he’ll lose his humanity” so not only was there no breathing room then it’s bumrushing him into their lives as best friends and it doesnt work. This dude sucks and he isnt even fun to watch. You know how breaking bad has one of the most abysmal main characters of all time but all of us were fucking ENGROSSED but the show made it clear that every enemy he faces, even the DEA, we want THEM to win (it is also a class analysis but woreva) so i am like wtf they show us literally nothing here. Also it is up to yong jie to figure put how to get over it and understand that his brother is concerned for him. Bc it is. His brother. There’s a reason that incest is never advisable and thays bc there is no way in that situation that people aren’t somehow being coerced. There has to be a sort of split in the pursuer and the person being pursued bc one person is not thinking that way. (This is why people who find out they are related after the fact and havent grown up together is something thatms really unfortunate. They had no idea and they have to grapple with that but that is another scenario and it happens bc THEY DIDNT GROW UP TOGETHER.) i have experienced this from a (not immediate) fam member and i was the vulnerable one, had less powr, that is how it must go.

I havemt seen “right or wrong” and i have no desire but from what ive garnered from ppl i like who liked that episode, the show outlined the moral issues with it.
