Thinking how different things would be had Dian been in HIStory 4 like intended instead of Kiseki. Had his former couple partner been able to attend filming and Dian subsequently wouldn't have been cut too- what kind of Ai Di would we have gotten instead? I can't imagine. He was cast so perfect for this. Fate did it's thing.

MY TOP 15 BL SERIES OF 2021

I did one of these for 2022, so figured I should do one for 2021, 2020 and then one for the shows before that. I started watching Bls seriously at the start of 2021, and its been such a fun journey. These lists are probably more so for me than anything else but maybe someone will find them helpful when trying to decide which ones to check out... let me know what your favs are!

1. We Best Love [Taiwan] - To date, my favorite BL series thus far. IMO it really has everything. Great premise and storyline, great acting and dialogue, and amazing chemistry between the main two, plus decent enough intimate scenes and kisses. It really ticks all the boxes for me. Plus, I love a good rivals to lovers storyline and samyu are pretty darn sweet.

2. Utsukushii Kare [Japan] - This one is a bit messy and there are definitely some problematic elements, but gosh, it's so entertaining. From start to finish I was hooked into the storyline and the relationship betwene the main two. And I think it was a well-rounded story with a good ending, so it left me pretty satisfied. For a Japan series too, it had a nice kising scene in the finale.

3. Light on Me [Korea] - Adore this series, and finally we get a longer Korean BL. The main characters were adorable, and the show was light enough and funny but had some good drama as well. Not the best kissing scenes ever but the main two's chemistry made up for it imo. Very sweet series.

4. To My Star [Korea] - This one took a few watches to grow on me but in hindsight its one of the better BL's out there (lets not talk about season 2)... the storyline was fun and it was one of the first Korean BL's that I watched, so it was a good one to start on! Korea goes unmatched for me with their BL's.

5. Kieta Hatsukoi [Japan] - Not a lot to say about this one tbh, I would have to rewatch to really give some better insight but I remember really enjoying this one. Japan BL's can tend to be a bit dramatic and sometimes a bit dark, but this one was so light and fluffy. It was a nice change of pace.

6. Don't Say No [Thai] - Okay, storyline wise, this BL kind of dragged for me. I didn't find the premise overly interesting. HOWEVER, Jafirst and their chemistry really made up for it. It's obvious how comfortable they are and their kissing scenes were one of the best scenes from this year. (We won't bring up THAT scene with FIAT in episode 2 (or was it 1?) because I lost my brain there.) But yeah, we'll just say this series was very enjoyable haha.

7. HiStory 4 [Taiwan] - This was a solid season. Not the best the series has ever done but I love that each season is different. The brothers storyline was a hot frickin mess but the main pairing was cute. Overall, I just found it very enjoyable.

8. Peach of Time [Korean] - Is this Korean or Thai? Not really sure, but it was a cute season that felt like a bit of both worlds. Not the most amazing chemstry or storyline of all time but it was sweet and interesting to watch. It had a certain charm to it.

9. You Make Me Dance [Korean] - It's hard to find a korean bl I dislike. And while this one is not that memorable compared to some others, it was still a nice watch.

10. Tale of a Thousand Stars [Thai] - People go crazy for earth+mix... they aren't really my cup of tea. Nothing against them, they are sweet, I just dont go crazy for them. The setting wasn't really my thing either but I did like the energy between the characters and all their cute moments and scenes, so it kept me entertained. Wished they had a better last kiss though.

11. Lovely Writer [Thai] - Found parts of this boring and the storyline didn't really hold my interest all that much but I did enjoy the scenes between the couples. I wish the side "pairing" had gotten more focus cuz that kiss on the street was great! But it was nice.

12. I Promised You the Moon/I Told Sunset About You part 2 [Thai] - Part 2 was nothing compared to season 1 at all. Season 1 imo was masterpeice and season 2 was just like a typical bl series imo. I hate cheating storylines so this series made me pretty mad haha but it wasn't UNWATCHABLE and I still liked the chemistry between the main 2.

13. Nobleman Ryu's Wedding [Korean] - The time setting wasn't really for me, but it was a cute and fun series. Not much else to say!

14. Fish Upon the Sky [Thai] - TBH I don't remember a WHOLE lot from this series and am planning to rewatch for pondphuwin, but I do remember enjoying it.

15. The Tasty Florida [Korean] - Again, can't go wrong with SK for me. But, compared to the other Korean series, this one wasn't AS good. Still enjoyable.

Honorable mentions: (Won't go into detail on these, but overall I found all of them nice and pleasant to watch, but they didn't grab me in the same way as some other series.

BxJ Series - (still have yet to see it but I did enjoy season 1), Bad Buddy - (watched a reactor watch this so technically couldn't add it to my list, but will try to watch it eventually), Be Loved in House I Do, Tinted With You, My Sweet Dear, The Man Who Defies the World of BL, The Novelist, Behind Cut, Stuck on You

"obscure side story" is that what we calling the uncomfortableness that was the side couple in HIStory 4, hmm? I mean - what side couple??? I only know the ult himbo Li Cheng and his Teng Teng and their gay roommate/bestie Xing Si!

At any rate - I'm supa excited for the new HIStory! I actually just finished a rewatch of HIStory 4 (aforementioned acceptable parts only) as they are one of my comfort couples, so it feels fitting this announcement happened! I am ready! Always interesting to see what kinda story they try to tell this time even if I still haven't recovered from MODC.

And I love how we all collectively agreed to ignore that part of the show jhkdfgd because the main story was indeed amazing. I loved every part of it. This season could've become my favorite if it weren't for,,,,,,,, the other part lmao.

But anyway I'm also very excited for the new season and I can't wait for them to release more info about the plot!!!! Also I think it's hilarious how one of the actors is also called Anson Chen lmao? Like what are the odds. Took me a few minutes to figure out they're 2 different people djhgdkf

Man was UNHINGED and HORNY for Bunn at all times. I'm into that shit. He also very much was doing illegal shit and can beat a bitch up. Once again, I'm into that shit.

8. Big (Nodt Nutthasid) - Kinnporsche: The Series

Look at that hair, eyebrow slit, and earrings. I don't believe I need to say anything else.

7. Li Cheng (Charles Tu) - History 4: Close to You

He's super cute, he's goofy, he's perfect.

6. Yi (Max Kornthas) - Naughty Babe & Cutie Pie

He's hot, he wears suits well, he's completely ridiculous, he's a blushing maiden whenever his man wants to have sex, he has beef with a chihuahua he was the one to buy, he's saltmates with his bestie, he proposed to his man like four times before they got married. I love him.

5. Techno (Mild Suttinut) - TharnType

He might actually be my favorite BL supporting character ever. Every single word out of his mouth was gold. He's cute, he's funny, he's dumb, he's a ride or die friend. As I always say, John Waters was so right when he said sometimes stupid and cute is enough!

4. Win (Boun Noppanut) - Between Us & Until We Meet Again

He's hot, he has tattoos, he has piercings, he has a trust fund, he is the most devoted boyfriend known to man, he loves his family. He's perfect.

3. Jim (Earth Pirapat) - Moonlight Chicken

Listen, I'm well into my 30s, so you know I just GOT Uncle Jim. I too have a tragic backstory with a dead ex, I too have a business (it was ROUGH AF during Covid times and still hasn't bounced all the way back), I too felt the "isn't it enough of a struggle that you're poor? you gotta be gay too?' even though that logically makes no sense, I too am closed off cat people, I too have had people be into me that I really tried to pretend I didn't notice cause it was gonna be Awkward. I just love Jim. I may not have loved this show, but I love Jim.

2. Kiyoi (Yusei Yagi) - My Beautiful Man

He's very cute. He's very weird. He's very into his equally weird boyfriend. I love this little weirdo, I don't even know what else to say

1. Michael Kiettisak - cheating and picking him in everything

I love him. I don't care. Gus in Till The World Ends was such a sweetheart that just loved his batshit insane brother and didn't deserve to go out like that. Bas in Call It What You Want didn't deserve ANYTHING he went through and yet he was still a precious bean. North gets 2 seconds of screen time in Pit Babe and I love him too.

Bonus: A boy that I don't want carnally because he is too young for me, but he is, in fact, Stupid Hot:

Pond is stupid hot. Palm is one of my favorite boys.

I rewatched the beginning of H4 the other day, and I lowkey forgot how absolutely unhinged YongJie is at the start. This boy was breaking and entering and spending his evenings photographing the object of his affection. While in college for medicine!

I think I forgot to give credit for his character development because while he's still my favorite worst boy ever at the end, he was an actual menece at the start.

YongJie is definitely a character who grew on me across the show and started out as a Holy Shit Child What The Fuck Is Wrong With You boy.

I did end up with a bit of a soft spot for him but the beginning is just a biiiit much. Yeah. I really think they had him go a little too far in the start before reining him in and might have wanted to start a little less unhinged.

But it does make his later devotion make more sense, honestly.

i hope everyone knows that the last wga strike was ~100 days and it's a pretty common phenomenon for strike support to tank after a month or two when it feels like it's dragging on and some writers and talk show hosts are crossing picket lines and trying to "return" to "normal" because of people's livelihoods etc when they're really just scabs. sure hope that we keep that in mind and are prepared for the long haul and aren't just in it while it's convenient for us <3

Random writing tips that my history professor just told during class that are actually helpful

Download all your sources or print them so you can turn off your wifi

Give your phone to someone

Just. WRITE. Writing is analysing, you’ll get more ideas as you write. It doesn’t need to be perfect, for now you can just blurt out words and ideas randomly. You can fix it later.

Create a skeleton/structure before writing.

Stop before you get exhausted. It’s best to stop writing when you still have some energy and inspiration left, this will also motivate you to get started again next time.

Make a to do list

Work in bite sizes. Even if it’s not much, as long as you put some ideas on paper or do some editing.

Simple language =/= boring language, simple language = clear language.

Own your words. If they are not your words, state this clearly in the text, not just in the footnotes.

STOP BEFORE YOU GET EXHAUSTED. Listing it again because it’s easily one of the best tips a teacher has ever given me.
