Dorian tidbits part 2... 2.5? Something like that, whatever, we'll go with it. I've been talking about his necromancy a fair bit in DMs and here, so let's give two little additions.

— 1). Mages are both simultaneously the best people to put around him, and the worst. Fellow necromancers are by far the best choice in terms of company across the board, even in comparison to non-mages. They're equally odd, and let's be honest: only a necromancer will truly, really understand another. Other mages may tire of him, as he'll come across as a bit of an elitist (listen, he's allowed to be if you keep in mind all he researches, dang it), besides— and other mages may also think negatively of necromancy. Many do, after all, because they ARE unnerving. The last reason for them being a good choice of company, is that they're the least likely to be bothered at floating candles trailing behind, or around him, or a few tomes hovering in his vicinity, or I don't know, a talking skull. Magic has many practical uses, you know.

— 1-2) If not a mage, you need to be open-minded, not necessarily... this'll be odd, not necessarily about magic as a whole and its concept, but what it... looks like. I'm not kidding, he's not that different from Emmrich in how he doesn't hide the fact that he's a necromancer, especially as he gets older. He may not have a Manfred of his own, but there will be floating 'animated' skulls that you could hear him speak to, some of which speak back to him. There will be unexplainable things, and you need to be okay with that. He won't stop just because you ask him to— his magic isn't a part of him, it's who he is as a person.

elizabeth is so easy to lob at muses from any IP because opening portals (tears) to other universes is her whole thing!! especially early on when her power is severely limited, most of what she can do is reveal a slightly altered version of the current point in spacetime she is occupying: either the same space displaced in time, a parallel space under a different major circumstance, or a different space at the same point in time. so, basically, small changes. like, she could open a tear that turns a red book into a blue book, or briefly open a window that you can reach through to grab an item through.

occasionally, when she's very amped up on fear, elizabeth's powers will spike and she can open a tear to another universe entirely — displaced both in space AND time. this is how i always start crossover verses! she leaps through, gets separated from her companion, and cannot open it back up when it closes behind her. so, effectively, she's stuck in another world.

at first her goal is to get back to columbia as soon as possible; however, she's always been attracted to trouble (and is curious to a fault, and very very impulsive and reckless), so she tends to get tangled up in ongoing conflicts in the new space.

eventually, by some plot point or another, after forging close bonds with people in this strange otherworld, elizabeth is called back to her home — and because a tear to columbia is such a rare occurrence, she usually doesn't get to say goodbye.

after several months, a completely different person returns. exhausted, somber, and not quite extant, elizabeth flickers in and out of space and time ( which she can now bend to her will with ease. ) her omniscience is a constant flood in the back of her mind: she looks at a person and their life unspools before her, their lives, every birth and death they could possibly experience and every decision they could possibly make. she no longer ages, no longer needs to breathe — she is scattered across existence, inexorably woven into the fabric of reality.

it's a pretty big shift!! this optimistic, reckless, bullheaded girl who latches onto anyone who extends a hand, and then this... strange, detached godling in a constant state of mourning that girl, the universe at her fingertips and loneliness sunk deep into her bones.
