MONDAY, November 18th at Jason’s House.

     The order of the evening seemed to be pizza. Which meant that once Jason left the station for the day and gathered up Kaya from her school, ducking and avoiding her teachers, they made a trip to the grocery store and roamed the aisles for all the ingredients she deemed necessary for the fine cuisine she was going to cook for their guest that evening. She informed him of her day and Jason couldn’t wipe the smile from his face as the little blonde rambled on about geography that was not only above her grade level but also reminded him of things he had long forgotten. By the time everything was paid for and loaded into the truck, Kaya was going on about the Czars and this documentary she had watched on Netflix. Hearing about the fall of the Romanov dynasty in so much retained detail caused Jason to blink at his seven year old niece a few times. It was moments such as those that made him wonder just how he was going to handle her as she aged and reached her teens. She was already practically smarter than him and Kaya was only a child. Though, he truly did love her random streams of thought and appreciated her passion to devour information and gain knowledge

     Just as she had finished changing for the second time and reemerged from her bedroom with a couple music selections in her hands the doorbell sounded with Sydney’s arrival. Kaya screamed, dropped everything on the floor and ran for the door with Jason trailing quickly after the little speed demon. She’d already yanked the door open despite his protests, only because he was trying to instill proper protocol and have her remember to ask who it was before answering and to check out the window first. “Sydney,” came the blonde child’s exclamation, soon scooped up into her uncle’s arms before she could attack a woman she’d never met with a hug. Jason had talked about Sydney enough that she was familiar and well, Kaya was excited. “Remember you’re supposed to ask who’s there before you open up,” he whispered into his niece’s ear and chuckled. “Hey, Syd,” the male greeted and stepped back to let her in, “come on in and sorry about the wild one here. She’s a bit excited to meet you.”

Premiere The Wizard of Oz

Ahora nos vamos de premiere con el musical de El mago de Oz. Acaba de estrenarse en Australia y solo estará 5 semanas en el teatro. Es una oportunidad ideal para que los más peques conozcan la historia. Y así, su photocall se llenó de divertidos estilismos y varios patinazos. Tuvo lugar en el Capitol Theatre de Sydney. Veamos!

THURSDAY, September 12th at Sydney’s Apartment.

The most challenging aspect of Jason’s summer hadn’t been his job nor even juggling that with being a single parent to a seven year old. It was a season where couples were regularly seen out and about enjoying the extended sun, and seemingly wherever he went they were bragging of their status. They held their hands together to mock the fact that the only hand he had to hold was his niece’s, and sealed their lips together in displays of affection that he could only yearn for. All the while the woman whom could only be described as poetry evaded him and slipped through his fingers, yet… her kiss from that very first date back in late spring still burned upon his lips. Sydney’s need for some space, which he graciously respected, kept his pursuit at bay and in that very present moment kept his butt in the driver’s seat of his truck. Next to him in the passenger seat were her favorite flowers, a collection for her to put in water and admire the beauty of for a few days and perhaps brighten up her living space if it was at all necessary. More importantly, Jason had an envelope in his hand and tapping against the steering wheel, with two tickets inside to see Rubies next Saturday the 21st at Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts in Raleigh, North Carolina. In the time he’d gotten to know her a little, especially that night they’d stayed up talking, he’d learned just how much she loved dance and that she was incredibly passionate about it. He was only staying put with nerves for the fact that his visit was unannounced and he didn’t want to betray her need for space, and the internal conflict was short lived once he again reminded himself the reason of the purchase. 

Bouquet of flowers in hand along with the envelope, Jason knocked on her apartment door. He had assumed that she was at work and the rap of his knuckles announcing his presence was merely something done more out of habit. When he heard movement and the door open moments later he stepped back in surprise and laughed inwardly, his free hand taking to rubbing at the nape of his neck with the awkward step back. “Hey, uhh, I was just going to leave this here. For some reason I thought you were on today.” Eyes of the ocean remained on her for a beat that bordered on too long and lingering, only leaving him to curve his lips into a smile and shake his head at his stunned nature. She looked beautiful and he hadn’t been expecting her and it all took a little wind out of him. “For you,” came his offer with a hand of flowers and an envelope extended to Sydney.
