If you could give Daisuke, Miyako, and Iori their own crests, what would they be?
This is a really tough one!  I do love that they “inherited” crests; the whole “these kids gets mentors” was so cute?  A great way to bring back the older kids in a meaningful way.  I personally think the 02 crew “had it together” in ways the original crew... kind of didn’t, lol!  But they did have a lot of benefits (ability to go home, Koushiro as an advisor, mentors, two members who already knew what was going on, etc).
I also really love the observation that Adventure emphasized individual development (finding and earning and internalizing their crest traits, evolution is triggered by understanding yourself) and 02 emphasized team development (jogress/evolution triggered by strong bonds between teammates, inheriting wisdom from the ones who came before).  So...  I guess I hate to mess with that?  But I do also see the appeal of giving them their own traits...
THIS GOT INCREDIBLY LONG, but it’s a really cool post, I think!  So please read on beneath the cut!
Daisuke
Honestly, I think miracles works pretty well?  I’ve heard people say that Daisuke just...  Does whatever he wants/follows his gut, and it tends to work out; ie he’s more “lucky” than “an effective leader.”
Personally, I...  Truly admire Daisuke’s faith and optimism and just...  Just raw belief in everyone?  I have anxiety, so sometimes my brain loves to tell me that a thing I’ve done a million times with no problems will somehow explode in my face.  Can you imagine just...  Choosing to always believe, and acting like everything will be okay?  I don’t mean “sticking your head in the sand and going LALALA THIS IS FINE,” I mean taking action without hesitation, even when things are scary.
Like, yeah, maybe that’s not always valid IRL- you need to plan and be realistic and accept and reevaluate when your plan isn’t working- although I’d argue that Daisuke learned to do that over the course of the series (I remember him saying the team should rest at some point, and everyone was surprised that he didn’t want to press on, except Ken).
But I also maintain that Daisuke’s ability to believe in himself, his team, and just a general “things will be okay” is what creates success that almost seems... miraculous!
Also, I think he is suuuch a great meld of courage and friendship, because he pushes on when things are scary (courage) and is able to do so because he believes in everyone (friendship).
So, I’m thinking something like faith/confidence/trust.  And having listed some similar-ish words...
I’m going with trust.
What incredible things you can do, when you believe in yourself, your team, and the future.
Miyako
I’ve seen other people assign her the crest of “passion,” which I think is great!
I think the thing about Miyako is that she’s, like...  Always on, always 150%, so dynamic and vibrant and just... her cup overflows with energy and... Miyako-ness.
It’s clear to see how she relates to her “purity” side.  It took me a long time to understand what I think the crest of purity means, thanks to a lot of... ickiness around the word “pure” in western tradition, which is also why I am loathe to throw the word “innocence” into my definition.  Basically, I think the crest of purity means that Mimi and Miyako don’t dissemble/hide how they really feel.  You’re always getting their raw, honest truth.  And, because Mimi in particular is spoiled, she can come off as childish- which is where people like to throw in the word “innocent.”
[The general selfishness of children is related to them not knowing yet that they aren’t the center of the world- psychologically; Freud would call it “being ruled by the id.”  It’s just a developmental stage, and doesn’t really indicate actual selfishness.  You know how Winnie the Pooh is a sweetheart, but can make things miserable for other people by just assuming he can help himself to everything?]
But Mimi also displays a child’s heart in terms of being kind and sweet and sensitive and wanting to help... and then swinging back towards the id at the drop of a dime, lol!
Like Mimi, Miyako is very comfortable giving her opinion and drawing attention to herself, and she doesn’t seem to be holding herself back...  But we do eventually see that things can weigh on her, and that she’s sometimes putting up a front when her energy actually isn’t at 150%.
I think the “love” part is a bit harder to pin down, but then...  The word “love” is incredibly vague, and means a million different things to different people, which is why I kind of hate discussing the crest of love!  I like to think of it as “the crest of compassion” to focus discussions; sympathetic consciousness of others' distress together with a desire to alleviate it.
It’s kind of funny to think of Miyako with the crest of love compared to Sora.  Sora tends to show love by watching over people, being kind and supportive and brave even when she’s struggling and hiding the signs of her struggle/dismissing her own struggles, doing things for others, often without even letting people know she did anything.
In comparison, Miyako shows compassion by being present for people she loves, telling them bluntly when they need to shape up (which, frankly, a lot of Digimon characters really need.  We need waaaaaay less staring into each other’s faces and never answering concerned questions and waaaaaaay more *slap* GET IT TOGETHER!  God, ilu Miyako), and being honest and open about how much she cares for them.
So yeah, passion!
Iori
One of my favorite Chosen, this sweet good boy that I lovelovelovelove!
So one thing about Iori is that, while I can write big honkin’ analysis of how Daisuke and Miyako show their inherited crests...  Um, I think Iori is his own thing.  Like, I don’t... super get honesty and knowledge off of him.  I mean, the honesty thing, sure.  His Grandpa taught him not to lie, we had a whole ep based on that alone.  As for knowledge, yes, he wants to know the truth and get to the bottom of things.
But...  Neither crest ever felt like a slam dunk for him?  Even though it’s easy to see how “honesty” and “knowledge” coalesce into “a desire for truth,” which is further illustrated in his career as a (presumably upright and truth-seeking) lawyer.  Like, it’s right there in front of your face, Hidden!
BUT LEMME PULL UP A CHAIR, CAPTAIN AMERICA STYLE, AND HASH WITH YOU.
The thing that, to me, stands out about Iori most is that he’s grounded and centered.  Have you seen that post recently that explains how Daisuke tried, just one time, to treat Iori like a little kid (he says, “shut up, little brat”)?  And Iori- who is about three years younger than Daisuke, and much more withdrawn- politely but firmly replies, “Please don’t talk to me like that.”
AND YOU KNOW WHAT?  DAISUKE APOLOGIZES AND NEEEEVER TALKS DOWN TO IORI AGAIN.
Iori is like...  He’s like eight, my dudes!  Rolling with a bunch of eleven-ish year olds!  He’s personal friends with Miyako, a twelve year old, before Adventure 02 even opens!  And we don’t often see him being doted on and protected like Takeru and Hikari were in the same situation.
YOU WANNA KNOW WHY?  The simple answer is that he’s mature, but I wanna say that he’s grounded, the ultimate earth sign type (I think Digmon is a pretty clear metaphor).  He doesn’t get flustered or swayed.  He knows where he is, where he stands, what he must do.  On the one hand, this makes him mature beyond his years, reliable, able to stand up for himself and be an equal team mate among kids who are older than him.
The downside is that “that which cannot bend must break.”  I’m sure you’ve read a zillion metas about how Iori sees in black-and-white originally and has trouble changing his world views and learning to forgive...  But he does all of those things, maturing further into possibly just... just...  Can you even imagine him as an adult?!  HE’S TOO POWERFUL.
So, if he were an Adventure character, I’d say that his crest is integrity, and he has to go through his adventure to learn what that really means for him- to develop from stubborn, black-and-white thinking to true integrity.
THANKS FOR THE ASK!

But... WHY
I admit that this episode basically being a rehash of episode 3 - which in and of itself was already a partial rehash of Our War Game - worried me. For one, bringing Omegamon back this early kinda confirms that, like, there really isn’t any threat they REALLY need to worry about, ya know? If he can just show up whenever they most need him, then the rest of the episodes are going to lack any tension. I was ok with him in ep 3 as it made it seem like a “miracle” of sorts, but while once may be a “miracle”, twice within the span of weeks is merely “uncommon”, making him far less special. Even this episode lacked the necessary tension (much as the music was really trying to push for it).
Unfortunately the animation was severely lacking as well, especially when you have ep 3 - and Our War Game - to compare it to, and that really hurts big spectacle episodes like this. When 2/3rds of the cast are sitting on their butts while the other 1/3rd are statically swinging a cape around at a non-moving target... look, I get Digimon has never exactly been known for it’s animation quality, but if they didn’t want this to stick out like a sore thumb, they shouldn’t have set such high expectations with the first three episodes.
I never cared about the lower quality animation of past seasons because that’s not why I watched them. I watched them for the characters and cool monsters. So ya know what the one thing I shouldn’t be able to complain about is? The characters. Ya know what I’m going to complain about anyway?
I have never seen the “Taichi and Yamato completely take over Adventure!” side of the argument in regards to the original series because I do not measure character quality in how high a person’s digimon partner can evolve. But over the years the character focus has gotten smaller and smaller in subsequent series, leaving more and more supporting characters behind, and this new series seems to be going in that same direction. Why are only Taichi and Yamato able to still get up and try to fight? You really telling me Sora wouldn’t be right there with them? Or that Joe wouldn’t at the least try to protect the ones staying behind from stray laser beams (not that they needed it as Nisdkfhshfsmon shoots like a Stormtrooper, but still)? Or that Koushiro wouldn’t be trying to look for a weak point? Seriously? And what the heck was the point of showing Hikari and Takeru at all anyway? What we got the last couple episodes was barely even a worthy tease for such important characters! And for what, another Omegamon appearance? I know they’ll join eventually, but it felt like such a let down that... THAT was their entire role.
And beyond that, what is with this show and splitting up its cast? That can work well in order to showcase different dynamics (like Mimi/Koushiro and Sora/Joe from eps 10 and 11 in the original), but we have seen all 6 together for less than a 1/3rd of all the episodes so far, and that’s even if you count this episode in which they aren’t even really together as Taichi and Yamato run off basically right away. And now they’re all split up again! And next episode is just Taichi and Yamato? Do not misunderstand, these two were my favorites in the original so this isn’t the sort of thing I’d normally complain about, but THIS episode was already their episode. Do we need another so soon? Why not have ALL the kids meet Leomon? Look, guys, if you can’t handle a large cast, then maybe you shouldn’t have chosen to try and reboot a season with 8 MAIN CHARACTERS.
*deeeeeeeeeeeeeep breath*
I don’t hate this show. It can be pretty entertaining, and it’s fun seeing the old characters reimagined. But... man. Episodes like this... they’re really rough, ya know?
*goes back to rewatch episode 8 which is sadly the only one that actually legit features all 6 characters*

Taiyama: Together we can do anything... or not
So, one of the interesting things about the Taiyama bond and dynamic is that these two don’t have one of those cliche relationships of “if we just work together as a unit we can defeat anything”. In fact, these two defeat more enemies completely by themselves then they do when they are working as a unit.
You have the obvious ones, like how Taichi defeats Shellmon on his own in episode 2 and how Yamato defeats Seadramon in ep 3. Then you also have Taichi basically defeating MetalSeadramon single handedly (with a little help from whamon), and Yamato defeats Puppetmon on his own.
But not once, not once have these two managed to accomplish anything together, as a unit, just the two of them!
Okay, let's look at the four major moments between these two where they team up and are insufficient, it's actually super great.
Okay, so first we have the famous moment where they get there Mega/ Ultimate evolutions, and what happens? They can't beat VenomMyostismon. It's not like they evolve and then bam, the bad guy gets beaten by MetalGarurumon and WarGreymon with a little hard work. No. Instead the other Chosen all have to join in the fight as well. Heck, even Angemon, the most OP of the Digimon, joins in on the fight and it's still not enough. They end up needing the power of everyone's crests to defeat him! MetalGarurumon and WarGreymon just end up giving the finishing blow.
Moving on to episode 51. I headcanon that Taichi strongly believes that Yamato is going to show up and that as long as he does they are going to be okay, they are going to be able to win, and I feel like the audience is meant to feel this way as well. Then we get Yamato ridding in on Garurumon like a Knight In Shinning Armor and you think "Okay, here it is, Taichi and Yamato are back together, WarGreymon is magically healed and at peak strength, they can do this, they are going to win against Piedmon". We really should have known better though, because once again they prove to be insufficient on their own, but not just insufficient, they are full blown useless! From the time MetalGarurumon enters the fight to the time he gets turned into a keychain is less than 3 minutes!! And the ONLY reason they even last that long is because Piedmon is VERY OBVIOUSLY toying with them.
Moving on to the ULTIMATE moment of Taiyama's power, the birth of Omegamon!! Once again you'd think with the combined power of Taichi and Yamato pouring into one Digimon, you'd think they'd be able to accomplish anything, you'd think they would be able to defeat Diablomon. BUT NOPE. They aren't fast enough! Koushiro has to figure out a way to slow down Diablomon before Taichi and Yamato can finish him off. If Koushiro had not have done so, then Omegamon would have FAILED!
Then we come to "Diablomon Strikes Back". Once again Taichi and Yamato fail to defeat Diablomon on their own, they need their siblings to come and help them out. And then when they go up against Armageddemon, Omegamon's arms FALL OFF, and he is forced to pass his power to Imperialdramon so that he can finish the job.
So yeah, to my recollection there has not been a single moment where Taichi and Yamato's bond has, on it's own, defeated anything! (Physically that is, they defeat plenty of emotional obstacles together)
This is both really funny to me and also just awesome, the writers really made a point of including everyone. They also subverted the whole “heroine and hero can defeat anything together” trope that you see so often. Not only that, but it totally plays with our expectations, we expect them to get a new evolution and for that to be enough but it isn’t.
Let’s keep the trend going Tri!!
Also, this leads me to believe that Taichi and Yamato’s bond is not so much about what they can accomplish together, and much more about how they give each other strength to try.
Taichi and Yamato’s Friendship gives them the Courage to be hit by arrows.
Taichi’s Friendship with and faith in Yamato gives him the Courage to fight against Piedmon, and gives him hope that they will win.
Yamato’s Friendship with Taichi gives him the Courage to defeat his inner demons and believe in the bonds he has with his comrades.
Their bond with each other and their Digimon allow them to form Omegamon so they can keep on fighting, keep on trying, even when all hope seems lost.
It’s less about what they can do together and more about what they believe they can do together.

Digimon Adventure 2020 Ep 10 Reaction
YOU GET AN EVOLUTION!  AND YOU GET AN EVOLUTION!
So!  I was pleasantly surprised when Taichi said, out loud, that Ogremon fought for pride (and not out of friendship towards him and Greymon)...  But Yamato seemed to be calling bullshit, and suggested that Ogremon’s intel could have been incorrect.  I was all, “Oh boy, time for some classic Taichi/Yamato headbutting!”  And we did get a little!  At first, Yamato sounded really reasonable...  But then, he started to feel more aggressive?  And I had to :/ when Taichi was like, “I will carry this through!  I will save the city!”  And I’m like, “Son, there’s six kids and six digimon here...”
Also, did my ears deceive me, or did Yamato point out that they could die, point blank?  Man, what a tough kid he is...  I won’t lie, he seems so much more mature than the others...  But still a wee bit aggressive in an argument?  Which I like, given that these kiddos are all so sweet and well-adjusted.  (Does that sound awful, lol?  It’s just, it’s tricky to develop a character who has no personal issues.  Jyou and Yamato seem to have the most room to grow, maybe).
HmMMMmmmMMm...
Taichi and Yamato seemed to put the little argument behind them, and there was a nostalgic moment of Taichi/Yamato/Sora discussing what to do...  Interrupted by Tentomon doing the absolute cutest little “Koushiro-han made a discovery” dance!  Bless.  And ahhh, “You’re wonderful, Koushiro-han!  Isn’t he brilliant!”  I’m sorry, I just...  I’m emotional.  Everyone praises Koushiro so much in the Reboot!  *sob*  HE DESERVES IT, aHhhHHhHH.
So...  Taichi and Greymon go on to fight Metaltyranomon while the others head towards the presumed headquarters.  There’s a big ‘ol poison pool in the way, but more pressingly...  DANG it looked like Taichi got splattered and blown up a zillion times, but he kept coming back onscreen, slightly dirtier?  Like.  Greymon literally grabbed a missile, and they went WooOOOoOOOooOOOsh all over the place, lol!  How silly???  Guess missiles don’t... hurt humans in the Digital World!  Cool, cool.
The fight sequence was fun, with some nice music, but...  Well, I guess the Reboot is doing its own thing with what triggers evolutions.  In a way, it could be interesting to... not make so much of the plot and character development tied into unlocking further forms.  In another...  Well, you know I’m a huge characterization person, and my fear is that we’re only going to occasionally see character development...
Oh, but they keep calling what used to be the “perfect” stage the “ultimate” stage (going by the English subtitles on Crunchyroll)???  That’s confusing for long time fans...  No, I checked, Yamato definitely said Kanzentai, ie “perfect.”  This is about 19:02 on Crunchyroll.  It’s not just me, right?  Crunchyroll is translating “perfect” as “ultimate,” right???  Anyone??  (Plz help).
So, we’re splitting into teams next time!  Not sure what to make of that.  It could be nice to have fewer characters onscreen at a time, but most of the stuff I enjoy the most so far has been the kids and digimon shooting fun lines off one another and interacting...  Well, we’ll see!
I’m enjoying Yamato, at least.  Mimi, I think, had the best “charactization” ep by far, but Yamato is consistently given lines that indicate who he is: pragmatic, person who takes on a lot because he cares, but is a touch standoffish and not great at expressing himself, has a handle on how dangerous things are, isn’t interested in Taichi’s emotional argument (OGREMON SAID SO!), but accepted Koushiro’s data-based one, willing to speak up, even if it causes tension...  Dynamic wise, this show reeeeeeeeeeeeeally needed him, I think.
I hope Taichi quits it with the “I HAVE TO SAVE EVERYONE” and “I WILL SEE THIS THROUGH!”  I was hoping the show would point to this being problematic, as it did when Yamato tried to siege the fortress alone...  But, uh, Taichi was kind of... rewarded for it?  Accepting the help of your friends is friendshippy, but fighting alone is... courageous?  They easily could have given Taichi at least one backup friend, even if he was a distraction (like Jyou and Mimi in the siege ep).  Man, I don’t know.
WHATEVER, LET ME WATCH TEN-CHAN’S LITTLE KOUSHIRO-HAN DANCE AGAIN.

Digimon Adventure 2020 Ep 15 Reaction
May the “Let it Go” jokes commence.
(Let it Jyooouuuuuuuuuu!  Let it Jyou!  Can’t run away no more!)
WHERE DO I START WITH THIS EPISODE!  Even though it was like 70% slip and scream, there was so much?!
FIRST OF ALL, I AM ABSOLUTELY 1,000,000% HERE FOR KOU-CHAN’S DIGIMON ENCYCLOPEDIA SEGMENT!  It’s RECURRING!!!!!  I get to hear his cute l’il chipmunk voice at the start of every ep now!  WHAT A GIFT!
And the Gomamon entry was perfection.  First of all, Koushiro called his fur beautiful, which, preach.  Second, GOMAMON’S FISH ARE HIS FOLLOWERS.  They are so loyal that they are always ready to ride!  (Those fish are actually our digital avatars.  We are the fish.  We are ride or die for Gomamon).
Then, things get interesting right away with what I think is the first actual Chosen injury (unless you count Jyou cutting himself while cutting veggies at summer camp).  Part of me is chuckling that a snowbeam is what caused actual damage, after watching these kids walk unscathed through laser beams and rockets, or bounce around like pachinko balls while their partners take a beating.  On the other hand, poor Sora!  On the other other hand- how many hands do I have- it’s exciting/refreshing to see that there are actual consequences/dangers here, and the kiddos aren’t indestructible crash dummies.
So Yamato takes up the task of watching over Sora and removing her from enemy digimon and asks Jyou to handle/distract the attacking group of Mammon and his Yukidarumon posse.  Um, logically, I feel like sending the perfect level digimon to fight the perfect level digimon would have made more sense, but I assume Yamato’s logic is that Garurumon is the fastest, and has the best chance of getting Sora help ASAP.  Poor Sora!
So the slip and scream segment commences, but meanwhile- and perhaps more interestingly- Taichi and Koushiro wander a desert, and Mimi brings a herd of Kiwimon stampeding down on them because they were cute and she wanted to ride one.  As they run for their lives, Koushiro helpfully points out that they are, at least, running in the right direction!
This is the exact flavor of tomfoolery I’ve been hoping for from Team Chaos all along.  So satisfying!!!
Meanwhile, they find a cave with a weird breeze.  And even though they know which way to go, and the Kiwimon don’t seem to be a problem anymore...  They...  They veer off course to check out the weird cave.  Just... because it’s weird!  How do you expect us to not investigate this cave breeze?!  Absolute chaos icons.
So we swap back to Jyou, who is... *check notes*  Yes, still slipping and screaming.  Eventually, they run out of surface on which to slip and halt at a cliff edge.  Jyou begins to panic, seeing no way to escape.  And, in a moment reminiscent of Kabuterimon and Koushiro in the last ep, Ikkakumon encourages Jyou to make a plan and not give up.
Jyou looks at the cracking ice beneath Mammon’s feet.  Internally, I scream, “JYOU, NO.”  Alas, Jyou responds, “JYOU, YES!” and asks Ikkakumon to shoot the weak spot.  Aloud, I scream, “JYOU, NO!!!!”
They all fall off the cliff, because of course they do.  It’s Jyou, and he’s actually quite responsive to praise and encouragement, which means that Gomamon can talk him up pretty easily...!  But, uh, encouragement doesn’t necessarily make Jyou’s ideas good.  Is it weird how much I enjoyed this moment?
So, the great thing about Jyou is that he’s so freaking scared, like all the time.  The other kids tend to be absolute bastions of calm and courage and “no prob, we got dis!”  So seeing someone struggle in the dangerous Digital World environment, but still try his best and carry the day when needed, is just amazing.  Personally, I think that the Reboot has leaned too hard on Jyou as comic relief/always scared/but wants to be taken super seriously and respected, and yet...  Seeing him always, always do what he has to do, even while being scared out of his mind, and not always really...  Up to the task...  It’s really nice.
I’m still waiting for that just-right ratio of fail to win, but I’m warming up to Reboot Jyou more, with Gomamon’s incredible support.
So once again, the day is saved, and Sora is thawed out.  Whew!
BUT THEN WE PAN BACK TO TEAM CHAOS, AND...  They’ve wandered back into what looks like earth through their weird cave!
Whelp, sorry, Team Sora.  You’re just... gonna have to fix everything in the Digital World by yourselves now!  Good luck, peace!
Man, this was a fun ep!  I think there was too much slip and scream, and while I love seeing Jyou deliver when he’s scared, Zudomon’s appearance didn’t elicit much of a reaction from me.  But let’s be real...  We’re here for Gomamon and Jyou, always having each other’s backs.

Digimon Psi Ep 2 Reaction
Here be spoilers below the cut.  Feels like this ep has more spoilable material than the last, lol!!!!
Ep 1 reaction  I will tag all of these ‘digimon reboot reaction’ for ease of searching on my bloggity.
Where do I even...  Yikes.  They, uh, they brought it.  It hath been brought.
First, garbled screaming impressions:
-Yamato still sounds like he’s a grown ass adult at age 11.  Nice XD
-YAMS.  IS SO.  SERIOUS.  I mean clearly he’s always been on the scowly side, but DANG son.  I really wanna pinch his cheeks and be like, who’s a little man, and I would absolutely get shoved.
-I’m wondering if maybe Yamato doesn’t live in Japan at all?  He didn’t seem to know what seems like a fairly important train station.
-TAICHI CALLED KOUSHIRO AWESOME LIKE...  AT LEAST TWICE.  And Koushiro screaming ‘Taichi-san’ at the end!  These two are gonna kill me.
-AND TAICHI IS LIKE, “HEY KOUSHIRO, I MADE A FRIEND,” and Yamato is like, Jesus it’s been two seconds you absolute extrovert, ugh, I’m in actual pain.  He’s gonna need to brood in the shadows for at least a week after this to counterbalance Taichi’s ‘sunshine-puppy-BFFs-with-everyone’ energy.
-AND YAMATO IS LIKE, “IZUMI!” and Koushiro is like, “Um, he can call me by my first name...”  THAT’S RIGHT, KOUSHIRO IS ACCUSING SOMEONE OF BEING TOO FORMAL.  YAMATO IS SO DAMNED PRICKLY.  It almost feels like the writers are pushing hard to set Taichi and Yamato up as foils?  Like, maybe too hard, too fast???
-BUT MY FAVORITE PART WAS GREYMON BEING LIKE, “SO, YOU SURVIVED” TO GARURUMON, THIS WILL GET ITS OWN SECTION LATER.
-Okay for real though that final enemy evolution with ALL OF THE EYEBALLS?  Very gross, well done.
-OMEGAMON?  Are we...  Are we done here?  Should we... go home?  I-  It?  Omegamon?  Ep 2?  *looks at watch* *looks at calendar* ?????????????  I’d argue that Adventure was a slow-paced show, but at this rate, the kids are gonna be 40 by episode 7????  OMEGAMON?!
Okay, I think I’m done screaming (questionable claim), so...  Let me...  Use my brain for thoughts????  Or try to???
The Network
Does anyone know if the network is earth’s internet?  That’s what I assumed at first.  But the intro says the network is the home of Digimon?  So...  Is it the Digital World?  I thought they were three separate places, like in cyber sleuth (earth, earth’s internet (where digimon can be uploaded, since they’re data), and the Digital World, where it’s harder for humans and digimon to meet, compared to the net).
Just hoping for some clarification, and not sure if it’s available yet.  It does seem like Taichi and Yamato aren’t using avatars to interact with digimon on the net; they’re actually uploaded onto it, along with Agumon and Gabumon.
Koushiro is awesome
Okay, so Koushiro is already...  Buddies with people who will...  Hand him...  Detailed classified info.  Friendly reminder that ya boi is 10.  10!!!!!  AN ACTUAL BABY.
God I would love some background on how Koushiro established himself in this position in the Reboot world, but right now, I’d be more than happy to settle for him joining Taichi and Yamato in the net.  My fear is that everyone but Yams and Taichi will be relegated to occasional appearances?  I guess I should be glad Kou was around from ep 1.
But we’re only 2 eps in, so I will calm the heck down.
Koushiro’s godly powers are ridiculous, I love him.
Garurumon, so you survived
I AM NOT DONE SCREAMING.  MOAR SCREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!
My brain immediately goes:  THESE ARE AGUMON AND GABUMON, SOMEHOW.  Like, they dissolved in Kizuna, and their data transferred to the net in another reality, and they’re just seeing one another for the first time after that here.  In that case, of course they can form Omegamon!  It’s old hat!
I’m probably wrong, but can you blame my brain for going here?
I also think it’s possible for their data to be uploaded to the net, and for them to still be physically reformed over in the Adventure timeline at some point between Kizuna and the epilogue.  Why not, at this point?  XD XD XD
WHATEVER THE EXPLANATION, I AM ABSOLUTELY ON TETHER HOOKS WAITING FOR MORE INFO ABOUT WHY AGUMON AND GABUMON KNOW EACH OTHER, AND WHY AGUMON KNOWS TAICHI.
Also, is it me, or does Garurumon seem actually a little... intimidating?  Like, it never occurred to me to think of any of the partner digis as scary in the past, except Skullgreymon, but...  Garurumon is giving off these dope vibes here.  I love him!  I’m wondering if the evolved forms of the partner digis will receive more of a personality in the Reboot.
Omegamon
I feel very...  Stunned.  Yes, stunned.  It’s not a good or a bad feeling, just a O__O
I think it’s natural to feel that...  This is too fast?  In Adventure, Omegamon and other jogress forms required a strong bond between the human partners.  Taichi and Yamato just met, and they’re not exactly...  Er, well...  Taichi is trying very hard to Make Friends and Be A Team.  Yamato is focused on the mission and is not very communicative.
But it was implied that Hikari and Takeru somehow used the power of their holy type digimon partners to power up Omegamon’s form...  Which reminds me of the first appearances of Wargreymon and Metalgarurumon.  Maybe the rules are just different in the reboot!
I will say that I’m not feeling like...  WOOO, OMEGAMON!  Or even, WHOA, NO THANKS.  Just kind of an overwhelming, “Wow, already?  Huh.”  So...  Maybe that implies the first appearance of Omegamon could have been written to better effect?
Still, the reboot is more for new viewers than for us (although it certainly feels like Adventure viewers haven’t been forgotten), so I’d rather wait and see than make a strong comment now.
I’m so curious to see where the Reboot will go once Taichi/Yams/Kou-chan put out these immediate fires.  Will we see them much on earth, or will they leap from crisis to crisis on the net?  Will Koushiro try to figure out what’s going on from earth when things settle?  When will the others show up?  What’s the deal with Hikari and Takeru and the angel feathers?  I really like the high-stakes, fast moving pace of the first two eps, but I don’t know if it’s possible to keep running at 1,000% like this?  But who knows!
Regardless, I’m having a lot of fun!  While I can see some people feeling that the first two eps are too much, too fast...  I think it makes for a fun change!  Fingers crossed for more characters joining in soon.  I NEEDS ME SOME TENTOMON.

Note
I'm reminded that Digimon Frontier recently came out with their own somewhat-Tri-inspired audio drama that goes into all the kids future careers, and Takato actually does become a professional soccer player, and Izumi becomes a model like she dreamed of, and the other kids are all in careers that you could have completely guessed based on what they wanted to do when they were eleven. And it feels completely hollow, like none of these characters matured or grew.
@fission-mailure
(;; HI AGAIN)
AAA I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN
I just read that drama translation today actually!!!!
(YOU READ MY MIND)(though it was something besides that which reminded me re: Taichi too OTL)both a good thing and a somewhat less so thing that was
BUT YEAH I know what you mean it does … feel weird … in a way ?? I liked some things the drama did too (they’re adults!! they’re adults!! TOMOKI ?? TOMOKI ??? ? TOMOKI BEING TALLER THAN / OR AS TALL AS TAKUYA ?? ? THEY ACTUALLY LET HIM BE TALL WHA MAYBE A BIT TOO TALL THOUGH IDEK
Izumi’s conversation bit with Junpei about being Fairymon and the wind thing was very nice actually + I think there was an implication she would go to a university not based on her current career ? despite that ??)— but yeah *? TAKUYA…..
….. tbh that really wasn’t how I expected him to turn out and negl I was a little disappointed ;; ;; because Takuya was my too obvious maybe bc whoo Goggle Boys Frontier fav too - young me when watching super appreciated how he seemed to mature a bit after the whole Flamon ep (kind of like how Taichi did post-Skull Greymon)? – and then this drama cd was kind of like throwing that character development away and didn’t even let him interact with Kouji even briefly in a post-series sense like even just with throwaway lines (AGAIN) and just /aaaaa ;;(though yeah he needed way more interactions with the others too and I LOVE his closeness with Tomoki too STILL even a throwaway line about interacting with Kouji better post series would have been nice)(OR, TOO, PLS NO MORE KOUJI & KOUICHI I GET IT THEY’RE TWINS BUT)
the ONE thing I could think of with this scenario that might be nice (the drama implied it too maybe?) was that if Kouji travelled the world (*actually it seemed to be implied in the older Frontier drama he was already going to do this??) he might go see Takuya while / if ever in Italy tooand as a Takouji fan too I do like that implication but also just because it’d be nice if they could interact there even in a general non ship sense???
at the same time hmm I was . yelling a bit still because WOW THEY ACTUALLY WERE ALLOWED TO AGE (THANK GOD) and also (TOMOKI ?????) with Tomoki - he actually dropped Takuya’s “Takuya-onii-chan” which I’m super surprised about but is actually also weirdly nice to see in a way because now he’s using -san and it seems like he’s still showing Takuya respect even now despite that ?? ? (LIKE TAICHI + KOUSHIRO’S -SAN FLASHBACKS) - the contrast between an older Takuya and Tomoki was surprisingly interesting but
WHAT YOU SAID TOO at the same time Takuya going the “international / pro football star” route and‘actually he’s exactly the same’ impliedjust felt kind of cliche and AAA I was hoping they’d think of something more interesting for him too but alas ….. ;;
maybe if Takuya grew tired of the soccer/football career he could eventually become idek something like a football coach instead ?? ? That would seem a bit more in line with how I felt about his character if football HAD to be involved but hmm in the end idek … the Frontier kids just really weren’t developed enough in terms of potential careers or goals ;; ;;
I HOPE ALL THIS MAKES SENSE AAA
BUT YEAH back to the point too I REALLY LOVE AMBASSADOR!TAICHI
and it kind of bothers me a lot that so much of the fandom doesn’t even bother to give Ambassador!Taichi a CHANCE

Taishiro Fic Notes: REPEAT? [10]
pt./Ch. 4, pt. 2 (also Ch. 10) (under the cut!) [previous parts’ notes] [original fic outline]
Pt./Ch. 4, pt. 2 + Ch. 10, (Shards) So in case if it wasn’t obvious, these two parts basically parallel each other, but they’re happening in different timelines. Ch. 4′s happens in [one of?] the “original” timelines (our main verse / canonverse or at least a canon-compliant verse) while Ch. 10 happens in Archaeology AU [this fic]. Basically, it’s Greymon vs Parrotmon battle in Hikarigaoka (reimagined) yeah. [specific dialogue notes] - ‘ Explosions. Everywhere, the sound of explosions ‘ happening at-scene too obviously but also [looks at Mugendramon arc] (I think Taishiro fans forget sometimes the battle from the first movie may have sounded like this, too ?? but they forget? but like hidden memories etc ....) - ‘ Kids his age - one, looks a bit taller, older ’ hi Jou ;A;/ (I thought this bit was obvious I hope) - ‘ others, younger? -- ’ hi the rest too (again) (also includes Mimi and Takeru, who aren’t referenced in the main fic often either, Takeru especially) - spotlights ok so there were some slight ... differences? between the movie version and the flashback version in the Hikarigaoka ep I thought (and also when recalled later) (during the Homeostasis scenes in canon Adventure) so this was to indicate the Chosen noticing something’s up yeah (of course they forget it all after in canon, too) basically, it’s them becoming ‘Chosen’ (which is also very important for this AU verse Koushiro who ... yeah) - ‘ He's staring not at the monster - or maybe he had been, but now he -- He was staring right at Taichi. ‘ hi tiny Koushiro’s awareness ..... - ‘  ("What do I do?!") ‘ hi ... timeloops effect ... (ok but what can they do? Koushiro feels helpless, too) - ‘ His baby sister. He has to protect her, he has to -- ‘ of course he’s naturally protecting Hikari too [in canon, too] but this is maybe meant to parallel his later protectiveness over Koushiro too (... even the canon kind of does it ??) (’Why won’t you let me fight [too]?!’) - ‘ A charred phone booth -- on the street, an overturned bus -- cars? -- ‘ hi the bus from Koushiro’s flashback (Hikarigaoka ep) (..... um) (cars) - ‘  The other boy looks about ready to cry, too. ‘ (i’m sorry Koushiro) [jump over to Ch. 10] - ‘ [electricity] ‘ hi ... Koushiro’s ... element (... that was natural though) (he’s spelling it out too) (also, Parrotmon = electric) (car ... = electric) (... also fire) - so in this verse Koushiro is also basically frantically trying to escape the wreck naturally too (timeloops effect isn’t helping though) - ‘ his mind still seems to be rational ’ again, natural + timeloops - ‘ I was enjoying myself up until now ’ Koushiro ... hopefully had a happy enough life [if an average child’s life] before the car accident happened (in canon, too?) (i’d like to hope anyway ;;) - ‘ ('There's still so much I don't understand...') ’ this is a common theme with Koushiro ... I’d imagine a tiny Koushiro would feel similar in this kind of situation too ... - ‘ a tiny family ’ sometimes others give the Izumis more living relatives [grandparents, etc.] but considering they were already ‘distant relatives’ and no one else is ever mentioned I’m ... not sure it’d be more than just them [Koushiro, Yoshie/Kae + Masami?] otherwise, wouldn’t Koushiro’s hypothetical distant family members have had more impact upon his life at all re: the adoption thing ... ?? (hmm) (yeah I think it’s just them I’m sorry) (considering a lot of the issues related to his adoption + what he likely angsted about....) - ‘ [contact] with their distant relatives - ’ (hi Izumi family ;A;/) - ‘ -- and he didn't have a ton of possessions, he wasn't spoiled, after all -- ’ relates back to the beginning - Koushiro’s overall lack of possessions before Koushiro gets hyper involved with tech and his office in Tri I imagine as a kid he really didn’t need / want / ask for much this is kind of implied in a Vamdemon arc episode, when Mrs. Izumi talks on the phone iirc / basically Koushiro is a polite, good kid who doesn’t ask for much [but also his adoption angst] before his adoption though I don’t think he’d be spoiled otherwise too though like ... he’s never implied to have an attachment to like. anything. (that isn’t the computer) - ‘ ('LIVE--!!') ’ an important theme overall, yes (... I did not actually intend the Daiken/Kensuke parallel but. it happens) (why are Daisuke+Ken so great too ;;) - ‘ His legs hurt so much he feels like he's on fire, but he isn't (yet?) -- ('You know this is wrong!') ('You weren't here before--!!') ’  this comes back up in ch. 11 and various other points, too, concerning his legs so I figured if he was ever involved in the accident and it was that terrible he’d have some injuries/scars, yeah but I didn’t want it to be his eyes/face and he needs his hands for tech the back is a kind of obvious spot too but it didn’t feel right? ... so. that kind of left his legs ;; (but it kind of related to Mugendramon arc too so...) (there’s a scene in Mugendramon arc where they burst through the glass / debris and. yeah) ‘You know this is wrong!’ / ‘You weren’t here before--!!’ and that’s his subconscious picking up on timeloops yet again yup - ‘ (Or was he?) (Maybe he had forgotten.) ’ seriously where the heck WAS Koushiro on that night -- (... if the Izumis were a tiny family and no other relatives no one related to him would have been at his home right ..... while he was a ‘baby’ [maybe in the original they just meant young? they don’t even use the word ‘baby’ there] .....) (’distant relatives’ implies they didn’t see each other often maybe ....) (idek anymore who knows) (but yeah either they leave him with a babysitter / caretaker [??] or .....) - ‘ Looks up at the starry sky above him. ‘ so, that scene with Adventure Koushiro & Tentomon pointing at the starry sky in Tri? ;; ‘I Wish’? ;; -  ‘ ("Please!! Please beat him--!!") The dinosaur's eye somehow moves -- -- looks straight at him. ’
Greymon ;; (if Greymon towers over everything enough that he can see Koushiro here) (even when fallen?) - ‘ Koushiro, on his back, the spotlight on him, catches his eye with a gasp of surprise. Just before the monsters' eye had moved -- -- a whistle had been sounded. ’ Greymon is seriously huge here, so even when fallen he towers Koushiro sees him just before (‘powerful?’) but then Greymon did fall briefly ... young Taichi’s blowing the whistle, yeah - ‘ The monsters' eye opens. ’ (Ch. 4 end) - ‘ ...[Koushiro] closes his eyes. ’ (Ch. 10 part/end) the parallel / crossover (also waking up / falling asleep) ... I haven’t fully decided, but depending probably timeloops effect crossed over these timelines and this happens (yeah) (so... little Taichi + Greymon indirectly [directly??] saves AU Koushiro / everyone ??) (at the least, if Taichi isn’t aware here yet in this point, Greymon definitely is) (..... depending [on AU circumstances], but let’s just say) (he can tell something’s up at the very least) (and maybe feels a need to protect AU Koushiro[s], too) (it also depends on if it’s the same Agumon [Tri implies it is, now....] but probably if it wasn’t Greymon here would still be involved on the side too he’s awesome like that?? [even if in a heartbreaking way]) [to be continued] (also the ending scenes of each to be elaborated on later too)

What makes me adore Taiyama
First off I want to apologize to the person who requested this for taking so long. I have been trying to figure out how to put into words why I like Taiyama so much and even now I know I will not be able to do it justice and it annoys me (this thing has gone through so many rewrites, I’d write a whole paragraph, then proceed to highlight it and delete it). Compared to my other posts I feel like this one contains a huge lack of passion even though it’s the thing I am most passionate about in Digimon… (I will eventually update this post to include links to headcanons and analysis that had a huge effect on my love for Taiyama)
A huge reason why I love Taiyama actually comes down to the fandom. I find there is so much richness to this pairing in terms of Analysis and Headcanons. I love reading other people’s interpretations of the characters and seeing people point things out that I never understood or noticed before. And it allows me to gain new appreciation for the characters which I never had before.
When I was a kid I never liked Taichi and Yamato’s rivalry, it made no sense to me and I felt like it was forced. I especially hated their clash near the end of season 1. I thought Taichi was being a huge dick to Mimi and thought Yamato was being a brat when he attacked Taichi. But reading many analysis of both these scenes and the characters has made me grow to understand these two more and why they do what they do. The Taiyama fandom just makes me really happy and I think it is full of such wonderful people with really rich imaginations and wonderfully analytical minds. So Taiyama has this special place in my life because it has kinda changed my world. I joined Tumblr because of it and have discovered other people who over-analyze as much as I do and I love it and feel really at home in this fandom.
I ship them because I feel like they complete each other in a really nice way. Taichi relies on Yamato to be his devil’s advocate so he can make well informed decisions. Yamato relies on Taichi to make him aware of what is really important and to help get him out of his funk with that wonderfully energetic personality. Yamato has difficulty believing and trusting in people while all Taichi does is believe and trust in people (except his sister in 01). Yamato tends to do things on his own while Taichi always brings people together. Yamato needs to feel needed and Taichi gives him that sense of purpose. I feel like Taichi is a sword while Yamato is a shield. Taichi’s has an offensive mind and Yamato a defensive mind. Yamato is going to think of how to protect everyone while shielding them while Taichi is going to think of the quickest way to take out the enemy. Yamato is the serious one who knows how to have fun while Taichi is the fun one who knows how to be serious.
They also have so much in common too though so their relationship doesn’t feel like one that could never work out because they are too different. They both care very strongly about others and hate to see people upset or hurt. They both have overprotective natures. They both get angry pretty easily, but at the same time are capable of being easily calmed down. And they can make up really fast, like it’s amazing how fast these two can settle differences which I think means if they became a couple their arguments would rarely get out of hand or end in long lasting wounds.
These two also open up the potential for really great headcanons and analysis (I’m planning on doing one soon on how I headcanon that they both have serious emotional issues and difficulty communicating but for entirely different reasons and it just makes me really happy to play around with the idea of these two in my head both as individuals and as a couple).
I really like that neither one dominates the other. I’ve never been one for those gay ships where one is the guy and the other is clearly meant to be the more feminine one. Neither Taichi nor Yamato could ever have complete control in the relationship, they are very evenly matched both in physical and mental strength and I don’t think either one would want to be dominant.
I like that these two develop a really close bond despite all their fighting in early episodes. I feel like there is this really strong bond between them that neither one can escape and that just comes naturally to them. I love that they are so happy to see each other in episode 9 and they are the only two to have that reaction to seeing each other again. Mimi is super happy to see Koushiro but Koushiro couldn’t care less and Jyou and Sora immediately go into plan mode. Taichi and Yamato are the only two to take the time to appreciate that they have found each other (you know… before they proceed to get into a huge fight but that’s just their nature at this point).
I love that they don’t understand each other throughout season 1 but you really feel like they have grown to understand each other by season 2 and it’s actually really believably once you understand their characters and motivations. I like that they have a really strong respect for each other with Yamato acknowledging Taichi’s leadership skills and Taichi respecting Yamato’s opinions.
I like the complexity of their relationship. These two wouldn’t just naturally click, they would really have to work at their relationship. They would have to work at communicating properly with each other and you know that they would. They would want to know why the other one is upset, and why they are feeling the way they feel. They would want to make the other one happy and beat up anyone who makes them unhappy. I kind of picture their fights ending in them both being upset with themselves for making the other one upset.
I love that there is tension in their relationship. I don’t like relationships that seem like they would just work all the time with little to no conflict, those relationships bore me.
I like that they both strive to make the other one a better person. Taichi wants Yamato to believe in other people and show him they can be believed in. Taichi wants to prove to Yamato that people believe in him too. Yamato just wants Taichi to be the best leader he can be.
I love the way these two fight. I love that they used to beat the crap out of each other and scream and shout as kids and now it’s just silent brooding and awkward stares. It’s so funny to me the way these two have evolved.
Their interactions really make me feel like Yamato is Taichi’s most precious person, right behind Hikari of course. And that Taichi is Yamato’s most precious person, right behind Takeru of course. Taichi is often thinking about Yamato in 01, like in ep 21 in the Japanese version he literally wakes up from his sleep calling out Yamato’s name, just omfg. And in Tri how Yamato calls Taichi as soon as he notices what’s going on on Tv and how he notices something is wrong with Taichi and starts watching his every move.
These two are just so full of love by their nature and when I look at them I feel like they would follow each other to hell and back and give everything for the other person and I truly feel they would be lost without each other. They are one of those couples that I feel if one of them were to die the other one would die to. You know you hear about those couples who grow old together and then when one dies of old age the other dies of a broken heart, that is how I picture the story of these two ending.
