Returning to full-time teaching meant bumping happily into former students along the corridors of Palma Hall, Pavilion 1, where the operations of the UP College of Arts and Letters relocated, what used to be the laboratories of the UP Diliman Institute of Chemistry , after the Faculty Center (FC) / Bulwagang Rizal Fire of 2016. (L) Mon Sy (my student in Literature of Japan, 2017-2018), Dino Pineda (my student in Literature of the Philippines in English, 2007-2008), and Kris Lanot Lacaba (my student in Types of Academic Discourse, 1989-1990). Mon now teaches at the Department of Filipino and Philippine Literature. Kris works for the Asian Development Bank's South Asia Subregional Economic Cooperation (SASEC) Program. Dino teaches at the Department of English and Comparative Literature. They were bright, progressive, and focused as students. Even more so now as professionals.
